Cruise to Colombo, Sri Lanka
Colombo shore excursions, amazing experiences coming soon., sorry, there are no excursions for this port at this moment., things to do in colombo, sri lanka.
See Colombo's Spiritual Side
Gangaramaya Temple in Colombo, Sri Lanka
Serenity might seem hard to find in calamitous Colombo, but it's hiding in plain sight. Stop at Gangaramaya Temple, and marvel at endless rows of Buddha images or thick, twisty Bodhisattva trees adorned with colorful sashes. Or step inside the vermilion facade of Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque, whether to enjoy a moment of silence or look in on harmonious unison of the call to prayer. It's one of the best things to do in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Feel the Sand Between Your Toes
Galle Face Green Beach in Colombo, Sri Lanka
Colombo's Galle Face Green beach park has something for everyone. Slip off your shoes and sink your toes into the golden sand, and enjoy the famously strong sea breeze rustling through your hair. Stop in at any of the countless snack shops or souvenir stalls, or take selfies with friendly locals who are always eager to welcome visiting tourists to their hometown.
Cool Off With a History Lesson
Step inside 19th-century Colombo National Museum but not just to admire its heritage architecture or enjoy a respite from the city's heat. Take your time digging into the various exhibitions, which chronicle Sri Lankan history before, during, and after the British colonial period, and tackle topics ranging from history and culture to paleontology and botany.
LOCAL CUISINE
Taste singular, spicy Sri Lankan cuisine during your stop in the country's capital. Sit down for a restaurant meal and savor the sour notes of ambul thiyal, a fish curry served with sour pickles, sweet chutneys and spicy chili sambal. Or stop at a street food stall and order appam, a thin pancake made from fermented rice batter and coconut milk, shaped into a bowl and filled with eggs and spiced meat and veggies.
Head to Pettah Market, near Colombo Railway Station, for the city's most authentic shopping experience. Browse colorful Sri Lankan Raksha masks, which are said to ward off evil, or sample some of the island's finest Ceylon tea. Buy handcrafted coconut-shell kitchenware or hand-carved elephant figurines, or simply enjoy watching locals shuffle through the stalls in search of spices, fresh produce and other sundries.

Dinner cruise!
Dinner cruise on Beira Lake in the center of Colombo, arranged by Cinnamon Lakeside. But the lake is rather small, so essentially the boat just goes in circles. Scenery is pleasant, in any case.
Located in a high security area as it is next to the Prim Minister's residence the lakefront is not made people friendly. Lack of seats and places to relax as well as shade makes it quite a dehydrating exercise. A little island on the lake too has little cover and motivation to relax.
Went here to have a break while exploring Colombo. The place is nice, located a bit out in the lake. However, they could have cleaned the place up a bit. There is a lot of garbage around and the lake was green/brown from all the algea.
A beautiful lake in the heart of the city, best viewed from the Meditation Centre of Gangaramaya Temple.
Horrible and smelly ... bright green with algea there is a small number of swan boats but the smell is awful on a hot day ... there is an island over the bridge in the centre but not worth the trouble
- Suspension bridge is very nice - Swan boats are okay...individual choices may vary - Lake water is dirty...needs to be cleaned - Birds around...ducks, herons..

Luxury Cruises to Sri Lanka
From lush tropical rainforests to golden-sand beaches, tea plantations, and a bustling metropolitan port city, Sri Lanka blends natural beauty with cultural charm. Savor the sweet aromas of cinnamon and other native spices, tour historic forts, and explore ancient jungle temples on these exquisite luxury cruises to Sri Lanka.
Follow the ancient spice routes which bring you from the lively capital of Colombo to Sri Lanka’s southern tip. Explore Colombo’s famous Fort district, then sail to Hambantota and trek through the jungle on a rainforest safari on the Walawe River. Join a whale-watching excursion to look for graceful marine mammals, then take in some sun on one of the many beaches. You’ll find comfort, style, and award-winning service on a luxury cruise to Sri Lanka with Celebrity.
Sri Lanka Cruise Highlights
Retrace the spice route.
On cruises to Sri Lanka with Celebrity, you’ll retrace one of the most popular spice routes that traders have used since around 2000 BC. Sri Lanka is famous for its cinnamon, which has been cultivated, traded, and sold at market for centuries, and continues to be an icon of local cultural and economic pride today. Sail along the coast from Colombo to Hambantota where the Chinese, Romans, and other Europeans connected the eastern and western world through maritime trade.
Abundant Wildlife
Few places on earth boast as many natural wildlife preserves and resources in one location as Sri Lanka does. Biodiversity and an incredibly vast array of indigenous fauna make Sri Lanka one of the top safari and wildlife destinations on earth. Sri Lanka is home to six different diverse ecological zones, each with hundreds of animal species and various protected nature parks. Take an opportunity to learn more about efforts to protect local endangered species such as Asian elephants, sloth bears, and leopards.
Sinhalese Folklore & Culture
The Sinhalese people have inhabited Sri Lanka for nearly 3,000 years and their culture has been largely preserved through both tradition and folkloric art and performance. Sinhalese culture is intertwined with Theravada Buddhism tradition and is represented through deity sculptures, poetry, colorful dress, ayurvedic medicine, and music. Attend a traditional Kandyan dance performance where participants wear elaborately ornate costumes, marked by billowy white sarongs, beaded tops, and elaborate headdresses.
Sri Lanka Cruise Ports
Colombo can best be defined as harmoniously chaotic, with a constant buzz of people, traffic, street life, and commerce. Visit the National Museum to learn more about Sri Lanka’s fascinating past and present, where British, Portuguese, Dutch, Indian, Tamil, and Sinhalese history are showcased gracefully through art and artifact collections. For a true urban adventure, walk through the bustling vendor stalls of Pettah Market, shop for ayurvedic herbs, and then take a stroll along the seaside promenade, Galle Face Green, a popular park.
The southern port city of Hambantota is fast becoming a coveted destination among travelers looking to explore Sri Lanka’s wild, natural side. Take a day trip to Yala National Park, where you’ll search for wild Sri Lankan elephants, leopards, macaques, and over 215 different bird species on a safari. Soak in the naturally warm outdoor baths at the Mahapelessa Hot Springs, or perhaps attend a local cricket match (the region’s biggest pastime) at the famous Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium.
Sri Lanka Cruise Itineraries

Each cruise typically spends three or four days at sea to enjoy the luxurious setting of the revolutionized Celebrity Millennium. Cruises depart on weekdays and weekends between November and March. Colombo, Sri Lanka Cruises
Top colombo, sri lanka cruise deals, cruising to colombo, sri lanka.
Colours and culture. As Sri Lanka's biggest city and colonial port, Colombo encompasses many of the themes and cultural nuances that run throughout the country and draws together everything attractive about this island nation. A veritable hive of markets, gardens and structures that are humble and grand, there is plenty here to impress any cruise-goer. There is much to experience, from the colonial history to the fine dining and shopping opportunities. Of course, there is the wide slab of beachfront to enjoy, but Colombo is principally an urban playground rather than a sunbathing paradise. A host of cultural attractions await - the Fort , Cinnamon Gardens and Pettah are all worth a visit. Foodies should drop in on the capacious Pagoda Tea Room , which stakes a claim to the venerable title The Oldest Eating Establishment In The City. Whether it is or not, it certainly serves up a fantastic curry - a big pile of rice topped by delicately spiced coconut, chilli and vegetable concoctions.

Travel to the centre of the island to explore the UNESCO World Heritage City, Sigiriya. Opt to visit the Dambulla Cave Temple or the ancient Sigiriya Rock Fortress.
Day 3 Sigiriya
Spend the day freely exploring more of this ancient yet luscious region. Opt to visit the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, view elephants on a safari drive in Minneriya national park, or go back in time at the Anurhadhapura historical site.
Day 4 Sigiriya/Digana
Visit a medicinal spice garden en route to Digana. After, enjoy lunch before embarking on a guided village walk for insight into rural daily life. Maybe stop at the home of a crafter who hand-makes delicate Kandyan jewellery or the cottage of a local woman making incense. Later, learn how to cook Sri Lankan bread or sweets while helping out with dinner.
Meals included:
Day 5 digana/kandy.
Enjoy breakfast and soak in the views of the Victoria Reservoir over tea before departing for Kandy. Have an afternoon of free time to explore the sweet city, opting to visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth, view a traditional Kandyan cultural show, or root for a team at a cricket match.
Day 6 Kandy/Nuwara Eliya
Enjoy a traditional breakfast prepared by women and youth living with disabilities at G Adventures-supported Sthree Craft Shop and Café. Travel on to the rolling hills and luscious forests of Nuwara Eliya. Visit a tea plantation and opt to explore the beauty on foot.
Day 7 Nuwara Eliya/Ella
If you want to experience morning mist flowing through the valley, wake early and trek the serene trails of Horton Plains National Park. In the afternoon, cruise to the laid-back village of Ella and enjoy a free evening to explore or relax.
Spend the morning trekking Little Adam's Peak to get a 360-degree view of Sri Lankan countryside encompassing the giant Ella Rock and textured green mountains. For the rest of the day, enjoy the freedom to explore scenic Ella more in-depth. Opt to trek Ella Rock, venture to the iconic Nine Arches Bridge, or hunt for some waterfalls with your fellow explorers.
Day 9 Ella/Hikkaduwa
Set off towards the southern coast stopping en route to explore the indestructible Galle Fort. Finish the day's journey oceanside on the white sand beaches of Hikkaduwa.
Day 10 Hikkaduwa
Enjoy a free day to bliss out on the beach sipping your favourite drink or jump on a boat in search of whales and dolphins. For your big night out, follow your CEO to the best beach bar in town, enjoy a drink on us, and dance under the stars. Perhaps take a night swim, who knows, see where the night takes you.
Day 11 Hikkaduwa
Another day in paradise to recover from last nights fun. Relax on the beach, snorkel with sea creators, or wander through the bustling beach town. Pick a local restaurant with your buds and reminisce about all the awesome adventures you've experienced over a farewell dinner.
Day 12 Hikkaduwa/South Malé Atoll
Travel to Colombo to hop a flight down to the tranquil blue haven of the Maldives. Board your traditional Dhoni boat and after a brief meeting with your CEO, settle in, and set sail on a voyage of discovery.
Days 13–17 South Malé Atoll/Felidhu Atholhu
Spend the next five days cruising around the South Malé and Felidhu atolls, disembarking to visit islands and sandbars along the way. On Fulidhu, mingle with locals and experience a traditional drumming performance. Bodu Moro Island is home to idyllic uninhabited beaches – the perfect photo opt.
Aboard the dhoni, spend free time as you please – lounge on the sundecks and take in the views, relax with a good book, or socialize with fellow travellers as you enjoy delicious local seafood.
Off the boat, opt to swim and enjoy snorkelling about twice a day amongst the spectacular marine life of the Maldives. The shallow islands and amazing coral reefs make it a key feeding ground for many species of tropical fish. Keep an eye out for turtles, reef sharks, stingrays, and octopuses.
Day 18 South Malé Atoll/Malé
