In December 2023, Hoobastank will celebrate 20 years since the release of their sophomore album “The Reason.” The album took the band to even greater heights, following the success of their 2001 debut album “Hoobastank,” which featured hit singles “Crawling In The Dark,” “Running Away” and “Remember Me”—all of which have since been certified RIAA platinum. “The Reason” featured the massively successful single of the same name, which helped solidify the band as a household name. The single went platinum four times and racked up multiple number-one chart positions along the way, with the album going platinum twice.

“The Reason” has more than 3 billion streams, leading to the band’s catalog surpassing 4 billion streams. The official music video for “The Reason” recently hit a major milestone of 1 billion views on YouTube, elevating the band into the exclusive “billions club” alongside other great artists.

In recent years, Hoobastank has had a mainstream resurgence through TikTok and hit television shows. The viral success of the #NotAPerfectPerson trend on TikTok brought new attention to the hit single “The Reason;” the hashtag currently has more than 957 million views and the song has been used in more than 249k posts. When Netflix’s hit show “Beef” gained popularity in 2023, the show featured Hoobastank’s “The Reason,” which resulted in the song reentering the iTunes Rock charts and appearing on Shazam’s U.S. Top 200.

Because of this mainstream attention and a newer generation of music fans discovering the band, they are clocking in at over 9 million monthly listeners and 2 million followers on Spotify. “Crawling in the Dark” has 125 million streams on the platform, and “The Reason” is well on its way to hitting 1 billion streams, with more than 890 million so far.

Formed in 1994, Hoobastank are a rock band from Agoura Hills, California, best known for huge hit, “The Reason” which peaked at number 2 on the Hot 100 chart, in 2004. To date, they have sold 10 millions records worldwide.

Hoobstank, came together when Doug Robb, Dan Estrin and Chris Hesse decided to start a band. In the early stages of their career, they landed local support slots supporting bands such as Incubus. They released their debut album on their own in 1998, entitled “They Sure Don’t Make Basketball Shorts Like They Used To”. Their reputation was growing slowly but surely, especially in the Southern California area, which caught the attention of Island Records, who signed Hoobastank in 2000.

Hoobastank released their eponymous official album on November 20th 2001, lead by the single “Crawling in the Dark”, which set the tone for the record and charted in the US, UK and Australia. This was followed by “Running Away”, which went to number 2 in the US Alternative chart.

Following international chart success and an international tour, Hoobastank made a comeback with their brand new album called “The Reason”, released on December 9th 2003. “Out of Control” was the first single to be released on the label, which went to number 9 in the Alternative chart. It was the title track of the album that became an international hit and the band’s trademark making it to number 2 in the Billboard Hot 100 Chart charting in Australia, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, Austria and UK. The single went Gold whilst the album went 2x Platinum, peaking at number 3 in the Billboard 200.

The band’s third full-length album, “Every Man for Himself” released on May 16th 2006, made it to number 12 in the Billboard 200 and was certified Gold. The sequential album “For(N)ever” made it to number 26 on the Billboard 200.

On December 8th 2009, the band released a live album “Live from the Wiltern”.

Hoobastank first came out with their self-titled major-label debut album in the early 2000s, since then, they have been a force to be reckoned with on tour.

Their debut hit "Crawling in the Dark" is and bouncy track that gets the crowd going with every word. The ballad "The Reason" is their best-known song and Doug Robb executes the song with such power and emotion in his voice that it is hard to find a dry eye nearby.

Despite the dwindling amount of people coming to the show, there s enough energy to make up for that. The fans of the band are truly grateful to see them perform in concert, and the band is laid back and often takes pictures and signs items for their fans, which to me is a major plus. Due to the band's declining popularity, they've played smaller shows, which have been more intimate than a bigger show (think an arena), but can leave you gasping for air when a song like "Out of Control" comes on and the fans go, well, out of control in the pit.

I would recommend seeing Hoobastank live, as they are amazing as musicians and so very grateful to their fans.

American rock quartet Hoobastank have been touring as a collective for over two decades so as you can imagine they have had a lot of practice onstage. The outcome of this is a mannerism of complete ease when entertaining hundred strong crowds as the group are more than confident in their own abilities.

They have enjoyed commercial success in the US yet the band does not reach straight for this material, instead they try and showcase what they consider to be the best of their discography which spans almost fifteen years. The crowd remains responsive to the powerful riffs of 'Crawling in the Dark' along with Doug Robb's laid back interaction. They are happy to string out the reactions of the fans as the band jam out with extended instrumentals whilst the crowd claps along intently. There are huge cheers for 'The Reason' as both performer and attendee jump as one for this rambunctious, angsty piece of rock.

Hoobastank gave an amazing performance at this years lake in the hills ribfest. The atmosphere was really light and fun with rob cracking jokes, crowdsurfing, and a mosh pit to end the night. All of this for only five dollars money it was well worth it

Amazing show in Manchester. Great opportunity to hear an album played in its entirety! What a treat! Hooberstank should have been the headliner for this show as over half the crowd left befor of during the headline act.

The show was cancelled. Hopefully they'll come back and play. Love those guys ! I was looking forward to seeing them but got an e mail saying due to unforseen circumstances the show was cancelled.
