Those who detest Miranda Hart and the childish humour which populates her brilliant BBC sitcom, Miranda , should stay well clear of her My, What I Call, Live Show because the calculated quirkiness of the ratings hit is quadrupled here, times 100. And even if you consider yourself a fan of Ms. Hart, the shrieking, madcap insanity and silliness on display can get pretty grating at times, particularly in the beginning when all Miranda does is screech about some party she's gonna have with the audience, but fortunately she calms down and eventually it gets pretty funny - some material here is Hart at her brilliant best and thank gawd she calmed down, cause that could have gotten old, quickly.

I rather liked Miranda's eponymous sitcom, but this stand up show - though ostensibly being just an approximation of the kind of monologues delivered in her sitcom - was actually just too much, too shrieky. It was like an hour of nails going down a blackboard. It also dismays me that there are hard working, talented and far better stand ups out there who would never have the opportunity to sell out arenas like O2, yet a sitcom star gets essentially a free pass to those dizzying heights on her first attempt. But you can't help but like Miranda, especially when she discusses how unfair it is that things you could do as a child are now considered improper for adults.

If you like Miranda Hart's sitcom, you'll like her stand-up show too. Her comedy is the sort that avoids a lot of crudity and mean-spiritedness, but it does have too many references to bodily functions! Miranda Hart looks like she's having fun and her energy never lagers. The audience interaction provides the most fun, as she handles this very well and can go along with whatever happens. I especially enjoyed her match-making attempt near the half-way point. Her comedic monologs come across as a little rehearsed (as I find in general with stand-up comedians), and some of them Miranda fans will have heard or read before. However, these are still fairly successful.

I actually watched this in two sittings (there's…

A lot of the same material as her show which was disappointing but I still can't help but love her and all her exuberant frivolity.

Good live show although I prefer live shows in smaller venues with less audience participation and lights/music but this was a nice change. A lot of stuff from her Miranda TV show was used in the act but overall funny.

Miranda Hart: ‘It’s strange to think how few women there were when I was starting out.’

Miranda Hart: ‘My preshow rituals? A banana and a poo’

The comedian on getting permission to be silly from Eric Morecambe, meeting the Spice Girls and how Comic Relief brings people together

What made you get into comedy? It seems like a scripted setup when I reflect on it now. It was as clear as day to me, even though I can only have been eight or nine. I remember being told to “stop being silly”, as all good, tired family members will say at times to children, and it being a dagger to my heart. For surely that was a key part of life: to laugh and be silly. The next day I was watching Morecambe & Wise and lo and behold there were some grownups being silly. When Eric Morecambe looked down the camera and smiled, I felt he was my friend, and I knew that I had to get inside that television and play.

Can you recall your first gig? It was in my parents’ sitting room. My sister and I had learned some Victoria Wood sketches and I’d learned some Joyce Grenfell monologues. We hid behind the curtains until my parents and a few friends came in, and then burst out in all our glory. Just your standard Friday night for most teenagers …

Who did you look up to when you began in comedy? It’s strange to think how few women there were when I was starting out – though that was 25 years ago now. I keep forgetting I’ve just turned 50. French and Saunders and Victoria Wood were the vital heroines to look up to. And then Mel and Sue and Catherine Tate emerged and were around when I started gigging.

Can you recall a gig so bad, it’s now funny? I remember doing a sketch show that I found funny at the time. There were about 15 people in a 300-seater, and stony silence the entire way through. We didn’t know whether to just stop. I had to go into the audience for a sketch and sit on a man’s lap flirtatiously (I’m cringing thinking about it) and when I did, he just said: “No thanks”, and passed me on to someone else.

Best heckle? You’re not as tall in real life. You don’t know quite what to do with that.

Any preshow rituals? A banana and a poo.

There are increasing concerns about performers being priced out of the Edinburgh fringe. What do you recall from your time at the festival? I first went to the Edinburgh fringe in 1994 and did my last show there in 2005. It was a long road. And it was a huge pressure financially. I temped in offices all year to earn the money to put on a show each August. It felt like the only way to showcase to producers and agents. It was also an amazing way to hone your craft, as every year you were working up material for Edinburgh, but I think the financial burden is way too much when you want to concentrate on the creative side, and acts need much more support on every level. It’s sad when standups and comedy actors are burning out before they even get a break. And although it makes a good story now, sharing a room and indeed a bed in your late 20s with your fellow comedians – we had three in a bed one year – because you can’t afford a flat doesn’t feel like the greatest conditions.

You’re joining Richard Curtis for a Comic Relief event at Just for Laughs London festival. What are your fondest memories of the work you’ve done with Comic Relief? When you’ve wanted to get into comedy all your life, and watched your favourite comedians do weird and wonderful things for Comic Relief over the years, it’s quite a surreal moment when you find yourself supporting the charity as a comedian. So my fondest memory was my first moment for Comic Relief: playing a stage manager in an Absolutely Fabulous sketch with some Spice Girls. I was having a constant out of body experience.

I have always believed in the importance of laughter, and known since that day aged eight watching Eric Morecambe how healing it can be. So to have a charity that connects a nation through laughter, to remind us there are millions of people for whom joy is far off due to their desperate circumstances but that we can help them, well need I say more? I’m a bit misty-eyed just saying that …

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given? The divine Deborah Frances-White once said in a workshop I did with her 500 years ago: “Don’t fear your obvious.” A joke or an idea can seem so obvious to you that you might fear it not worthy. But it’s only obvious to you – so it’s still unique.

What’s the worst advice you’ve ever been given? “It’s all very well being a bit funny, but you can’t make a living out of it.” Welcome to drama school in the 90s! Actually it ended up being the best advice, as I wanted to prove them wrong in their view that comedy was a lesser art.

What’s next for you? Watch out for the book wot I am writing …

Kevin Hart waves to the crowd.

On May 5, Kevin Hart will host the ‘Roast of Tom Brady’ at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum as part of the Netflix is a Joke Festival.

However, that’s far from the only gig the 2024 Mark Twain Prize For American Humor winner has lined up this year.

From April all the way up until December, the prolific 44-year-old comic will perform at venues all over North America as part of his ‘Acting My Age Tour.’

That includes a pair of shows at Westbury, NY’s Westbury Music Fair on June 29 as well as one-offs at Newark, NJ’s Prudential Center on June 30 and Poughkeepsie, NY’s MJ Nesheiwat Convention Center on July 20.

“This one is going to hit different,” Hart shared on Instagram , while describing the tour. “We’re on a different level, a different mindset.”

If you want to see what the “Ride Along” star has up his sleeve for his ‘Acting My Age Tour,’ tickets are available for all shows.

At the time of publication, the lowest price we could find was $16 before fees on Vivid Seats.

To be fair, that low dollar amount is a bit of an outlier (hint, hint- it’s for the Tom Brady Roast); other Kevin Hart shows have tickets starting anywhere from $55 to $389 before fees.

Hoping to find out how much seats are going for at the venue nearest you?

We’ve got everything you need to know and more about Kevin Hart’s 2024 ‘Acting My Age Tour’ below.

All prices listed above are subject to fluctuation.

Kevin Hart tour schedule 2024

A complete calendar including all tour dates, venues and links to the cheapest tickets available can be found here:

(Note: The New York Post confirmed all above prices at the publication time. All prices are in US dollars, subject to fluctuation and include additional fees at checkout .)

Vivid Seats is a verified secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They offer a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and your tickets will be delivered prior to the event.

Netflix is a Joke Festival 2024

From May 2-12, 2024, the  Netflix is a Joke Festival  is returning to Los Angeles for over 300 (!) shows spread out across 35 venues.

And yes, one of your favorite comedians will probably be there.

Just a few of the mega names on this year’s lineup include  Jerry Seinfeld ,  Chris Rock ,  Bill Burr ,  David Letterman  and controversial crowd work wunderkind  Matt Rife .

They’ll be joined by household names  John Mulaney ,  Jon Stewart ,  Ali Wong ,  Seth Rogen , and  Sarah Silverman .

As of now, over 270 events have been announced for the  sprawling, mega event , the first since 2022.

You can get tickets for the show of your choosing  here .

Upcoming Kevin Hart projects

Kevin Hart can’t stop working.

On top of his upcoming tour dates, he also has eight (!) movies and TV shows set for release in the near future.

Here’s what we know about each of the future flicks.

“Planes, Trains & Automobiles”  might sound familiar. In this reimagining of the 1987 classic, Hart co-stars with Will Smith as “a pair of unlikely travel companions trying to make their destinations in time for the Holiday weekend.”

“My Own Worst Enemy”  tells the story of an agent sent on a dangerous assignment and then receives an assist from an unlikely informant. Tim Story has been tapped to direct.

“The Great Outdoors”  will see Hart star in a remake of the 1988 John Candy-Dan Aykroyd comedy where a family on vacation repeatedly gets interrupted by their irritating in-laws. Teena Lewis and Tristan Cantave are set to co-star.

“Ride Along 3”  is an extension of the popular Hart-Ice Cube franchise featuring Hart as a well-meaning high school teacher who applies to the police academy to impress the girl of his dreams (Tika Sumpter). There, he meets her tough brother (Ice Cube), who, you guessed it, takes him on a ride along to set him straight. According to  Looper , director Tim Story wants to take the ongoing series to another country in a future installment.

“Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist”  has just Hart attached now; the series will tell the story of the infamous armed robbery after Muhammad Ali’s historical comeback fight in 1970.

“Borderlands,”  based on the popular video game, takes place on the desolate, fictional planet Pandora. In this abandoned world, adventurers seek out an elusive artifact. The stacked cast features Cate Blanchett, Jack Black, Jamie Lee Curtis, Gina Gershon and Bobby Lee.

“Uptown Saturday Night”  centers around a pair of pals’ night out where they chill at an illegal club, come upon a lost wallet, and find a winning lottery ticket. Based on the 1974 classic featuring Sidney Poitier, Flip Wilson, Richard Pryor, Bill Cosby, and Harry Belafonte. Rick Famuyiwa (“Dope,” “The Chi”) will direct from a script by Kenya Barris (“Blackish,” “Coming 2 America”).

“Monopoly,”  currently in development, finds a boy from the board game’s Baltic Avenue on a journey to make some cold, hard Monopoly cash. Tim Story will direct Hart again in a script by noted sci-fi screenwriter Andrew Niccol (“Truman Show,” “Gattaca”). Here’s hoping the movie, which has yet to enter pre-production, “gets out of jail free.”

“Die Hart 2: Die Harter” signals a return to Hart’s Amazon Prime series where he “plans an innovative action film with unscripted, unexpected scenes to cement his legacy as the greatest,” IMDb reports. Of course, high-stakes hijinks ensue. Nathalie Emmanuel, Ben Schwartz, Paula Pell and John Cena co-star.

Kent Sanderson

Kent Sanderson has been promoted to president of Bleecker Street , the indie studio behind “Logan Lucky” and “Captain Fantastic.” The veteran executive previously served as the company’s head of acquisitions and ancillary distribution. Sanderson has been with Bleecker Street, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary, since its inception in 2014.

In his previous role, he led both the curation of Bleecker’s film slate and the company’s home entertainment strategy, including co-founding and co-running home entertainment label Decal, which Bleecker operates as a joint-venture with Neon. In his new post, Sanderson will continue to report to Bleecker Street CEO Andrew Karpen.

“Bleecker Street has grown to be what it is today thanks to a fantastic team who live and breathe film,” Karpen said. “Kent has proven himself to be a great leader in addition to having a keen understanding of how to balance the creative and financial sides of an independent film studio. I look forward to this next chapter as we take Bleecker Street into its second decade.  I have always said that the power of Bleecker’s success is in its people; I am incredibly proud of Kent, Vikki, and Miranda as well as what all of us have achieved over the past 10 years.”

Recent Bleecker Street releases include “One Life” with Anthony Hopkins and David and Nathan Zellner’s “Sasquatch Sunset”   starring Jesse Eisenberg and Riley Keough, which premiered at this year’s Sundance, Berlinale and SXSW before its nationwide release this month.

Hart has a long history with Bleecker Street and previously worked alongside Karpen at Focus Features. She will continue to work under head of theatrical distribution Kyle Davies.

King joined Bleecker Street from ICM’s talent department in 2019. As a senior member of the acquisitions team, she has a key role in determining the creative direction of the Bleecker Street slate strategy, which mixes financing stage investments in production like the Cannes-premiering “Rumours” from directors Guy Maddin, Evan Johnson and Galen Johnson, which stars Cate Blanchett, and the upcoming “The Fabulous Four” with Susan Sarandon and Bette Midler, with finished film acquisitions like  “Ezra” with Bobby Cannavale and Robert De Niro. She will continue to report to Sanderson.

In addition to Karpen, Sanderson, and Davies, the Bleecker Street senior executive leadership team includes: Irwin Reiter, CFO; Tyler DiNapoli, president of marketing, media and research; Myles Bender, president of marketing and creative advertising; and Rachel Allen, SVP of publicity.
