Day 1:  Arrival in Bangkok, Airport Transfer and Free Day

Arrive any day in Bangkok. Once you arrive at the international airport in Bangkok, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Bangkok. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2: Full-Day Bangkok City Tour

After breakfast at the hotel, walk through the flower and vegetable market to get a glimpse of the local’s daily life and then visit the dazzling Grand Palace , the architectural miracle, and marvel at its typical Siamese buildings with luxurious and exquisite decorations. Later, visit the Wat Phra Kaew inside the Grand Palace.

After lunch, leave the hassle of the city behind and take a long-tail boat ride along the canal to explore the greener and more peaceful part of Bangkok. Your last stop for today is the remarkable Wat Arun , a photogenic temple better known as the Temple of the Dawn that is situated on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River.

After the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Bangkok.

Day 3: Ayutthaya UNESCO World Heritage Site

This morning, you will leave for Ayutthaya after breakfast to take a time journey back to ancient Siam. En route, take a side trip to the Bang Pa-In Summer Palace , a palace complex formerly used by the Thai kings. It is a collection of different styles of buildings, scenic lakes, and green spaces. Move on to Wat Mahathat , where you can see that the Buddha’s head is intertwined with the roots of a banyan tree. Continue to the Wat Phra Sri Sanphet which was once a part of the royal palace of ancient Ayutthaya. You will learn about how Buddhist culture plays an important role in that glorious age. At the end of the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Bangkok.

Day 4: Fly to Phuket

Today you will fly from Bangkok to Phuket. Upon your arrival in Phuket, you will be met by your local guide in the arrivals area of the airport who will be holding a signboard with your name on it. After meet and greet, you will be transferred to your hotel in Phuket. Rest of the day will be at leisure.

Day 5: Full-Day Explore Phi Phi Islands

On a full-day tour of the Phi Phi Islands by speed boat from Phuket you will enjoy visiting two of the most famous islands in southern Thailand Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Lay and the beautiful surrounding seascapes. It will take just about 1 hour by speedboat to reach Phi Phi Lay; the smaller of the two islands which is home to Maya Bay the famous beach from the Hollywood film “The Beach”. An ample Thai lunch will be served at a beachside restaurant before the rest of the day unfolds when you can stop for great swimming and snorkeling opportunities. You will return to your hotel in Phuket in the evening.

Day 6: Free day in Phuket to explore

It’s day 6 of the trip and you can spend it at leisure. Have a filling breakfast at the hotel and relax there. If you want to experience some quaintness in the midst of the city crowd then Kata Noi beach is the perfect place to go. You can also go for a walk in Old Phuket Town. Enjoy Phuket’s famous cultural show – Fantasea in the evening.

Day 7: Departure from Phuket — End of Tour Service

After breakfast, you will check out from your hotel in Phuket (hotel check-out is before 11:00 am) and will then be transferred to the Phuket airport according to your flight details. This will be the end of our tour and services.

Do i need a covid-19 vaccine to join an intrepid trip.

Trips from 1 January 2023 onwards

Do I need a visa to visit Thailand?

When is the best time to visit Thailand?

Thailand's climate is generally hot, humid and at times (like other South-East Asian countries) monsoonal. The seasons differ from coast to coast, so depending on which areas you're visiting, the weather can vary.

Thailand's north, east and west are great to visit from November to February, when the weather is cooler and dryer. If heading south, it's best to travel from January to April as these months provide conditions optimal for diving and snorkeling. This is peak time, however, so be aware that popular places like Chiang Mai, Ko Samui and Phuket can get particularly busy. It can also get quite busy from July to August as it's the northern hemisphere school holidays.

The monsoon season is from July to November, so it can get quite wet and the weather may be uncomfortably hot and humid for those who aren't accustomed to it. Yet traveling during this time can provide a different picture of Thailand, and is generally a less crowded time of year. March to June is less wet but is the hottest time in terms of temperatures. If you don't mind the heat then this can be a good time to go on holiday to Thailand to avoid the crowds.

How can I get from Bangkok to Phuket?

There are a few ways you can get from Bangkok to Phuket including joining a small group adventure where all the organisation is taken care of for you, flying between the two destinations (flying time is 1 and a half hours), and catching public transport in the form of a bus (the cheapest but longest way to travel between the two cities). 

Is Thailand a safe destination for LGBTQIA+ travelers?

As a whole, Thailand is a hassle-free destination for LGBTQI travelers. Bangkok, Pattaya, and Phuket all have fairly prominent gay scenes. Be aware that Thais typically do not engage in public displays of affection, regardless of sexual orientation.

Day 1: Bangkok Arrival

Today, you will arrive at Bangkok International Airport. Upon arrival at Suvarnabhumi airport, you will be greeted by our team and transferred to your hotel for check-in. You will have some free time to relax and explore the city at your leisure. You will spend the night in Bangkok.

Day 2: Half Day Bangkok City Temple Tour (B)

After having breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a sightseeing tour that includes a visit to Wat Traimit, the Temple of the Golden Buddha. This temple is renowned for its five-and-a-half-ton solid gold image, which is 900 years old. Next, visit Wat Arun, also known as the Temple of the Dawn, one of the most well-known landmarks and photographed images of Bangkok. Then, head to Wat Po, the oldest and largest temple in Bangkok, which houses the Reclining Buddha (Phra Buddhasaiyas), the largest single Buddha image. Wat Po is also known as the birthplace of traditional Thai massage. After the tour, you'll return to the hotel and have the rest of the afternoon at leisure. Overnight stay in Bangkok.

Day 3: Bangkok to Phuket City Tour (B)

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Phuket. Upon arrival, our local guide will meet and greet you before transferring you to your hotel for check-in and a short rest. Later, embark on a sightseeing tour of Phuket City, where you'll witness the natural beauty of the island as you drive along the beach roads through Patong, Karon, Kata, and Rawai. Take in the panoramic view of Kata Noi, Kata, Karon, and Kho Poo Island at the View Point, one of the island's best scenic spots. This tour offers a glimpse into the highlights of the "Pearl of the Andaman." You'll leisurely drive around Phuket town to see the Sino-Portuguese style buildings and visit attractions such as the Wang Thalang Lapidary gem factory, Wat Chalong, Phuket's most beautiful and renowned monastery, the Gypsy Village at Rawai Beach, and a Cashew Nut Factory, where you can sample the culinary delights on offer. After breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to the pier to start your boat trip to Phi Phi Island. Upon arrival, you will visit Phi Phi Ley Island to explore its scenic beauty. Next, you will head to Long Beach on Phi Phi Don Island where you can change to a small boat for snorkeling near Long Beach. You will have the opportunity to enjoy the crystal-clear water and rich marine life. After snorkeling, you will return to Long Beach for a buffet lunch. Following lunch, you will have free time for snorkeling, swimming, or relaxing on the beach until it's time to transfer back to your hotel in Phuket.

Day 5: Phuket - Bangkok - Departure (B)

Breakfast will be served at the hotel on the last day of the tour. After breakfast, you will have free time to relax and enjoy the surroundings until the time of your transfer to the airport in Phuket for your flight back to Bangkok. Please note that Legend Travel Group will arrange the internal flight from Phuket to Bangkok Airport for your next flight. You are expected to arrive at Bangkok Airport between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm.

Legend Travel Group will arrange the domestic flight from Phuket to Bangkok and airport transfer pick up from your hotel to Phuket airport following your requests accordingly. If you have an early flight, we can arrange for you to fly back to Bangkok in the late evening on Day 4 and stay overnight in Bangkok before taking the early flight on Day 5.

Day 1 - Arrival - Phuket

Siam Niramit is a must see dazzling show with over 100 performers, magnificent set designs and lavish costumes. Day 1: bangkok and phuket package tour: bangkok towards phuket with fantasea show. (d).

Arrival at Phuket airport, meet and greet then transfer to the hotel for check in. Free at leisure.

In the evening welcome dinner with the best show in Phuket “Phuket FantaSea Show”. This cultural theme park is divided into three sections: shopping in the Festival village, dining in the Golden Kinnaree Buffet Restaurant and Vegas-style entertainment in the Palace of the Elephants. After the show transfer to hotel and overnight.

Overnight in Phuket 

Day 2: Bangkok and Phuket Package Tour: Full Day Join Tour Phi Phi Island. (B, L)

Breakfast at hotel, and then join transfer by minivan to the pier for take a speed boat trip to Phi Phi Island.

09.00AM      Departs from Chalong Pier to “Phi Phi Islay Island” for swimming and sightseeing at “Maya Bay” (The Beach of movie was taken here). Enjoy snorkeling and feeding colorful fishes at “Loh Samah Bay”. Sightseeing at “Peleh Cove” and Viking Cave”

12.00PM      Arrive at “Phi Phi Don Island” enjoy feeding the Monkey by a piece of bananas.

12.30PM      Lunch will be served at Phi Phi Don.

02.00PM      Enjoy swimming with crystal clear water and snorkeling with plentiful coral reefs and feeding fishes at Monkey Beach

03.00PM      Arrive at “Khai Nok Island” enjoy your activities like swimming, sunbathing and feeding fishes.

04.00PM      Back to Chalong Pier and transfer to your hotel.

Overnight in Phuket

Day 3: Bangkok and Phuket Package Tour: Full Day Join Tour Phang Nga Island. (B, L)

After breakfast, sightseeing visit to Phang Nga we will visit Suwannakula Temple, exploring Buddha Cave, Stalactites, Stalagmites; a lot of monkeys will be waiting to welcome you in front of the temple. Then take boat cruise around Phang Nga Bay en-route National Park, Mangrove swamps. Visit the renowned Lord Cave.

When you emerge from the cave, observe the rocky statue of the Khao Ma Ju, Khao Nom Sao and Khao Chang. You can see a glimpse of daily life in sea-Gypsy Village and pass two mountains of Khao Ta Poo before reaching the Island of Ping-Kan, better know as James Bond Island. Enjoy your lunch with fresh seafood, fruits, tea and coffee at Panyee Village. After that, transfer back to your hotel in Phuket.

Day 4: Bangkok and Phuket Package Tour: Phuket – Bangkok – Departure. (B)

Breakfast at hotel, then free at leisure till time transfer to Phuket airport flight back to Bangkok.

Day 1 - Arrive In Bangkok

Upon arrival in Bangkok you will be collected from the airport and transferred to your hotel. After a lengthy flight you will likely be tired, so this day is at your own leisure to explore or rest. Overnight in Bangkok.

Day 2 - Bangkok City Temples

Today we start our adventure and go on a wonderful half-day Bangkok temples tour. The city of Bangkok lies on a bend of the Chao Phraya River and possesses an amazing combination of historic sights. During the tour enjoy a ride through the busy streets of Chinatown and visit three of the most impressive temples in Bangkok, The Golden Buddha Temple featuring the world’s largest solid gold statue. The Marble Temple, one of Bangkok's most beautiful temples and the Reclining Buddha Temple, considered the first public university in Thailand, teaching the students religion, science and literature, also known as the birthplace of traditional Thai massage. Overnight in Bangkok.

Day 3 - Damnoen Saduak Floating Market and Railway Market

We take you on an exclusive tour to visit the rural and authentic Floating Market at Damnoen Saduak. Enroute we pay a visit to the Coconut Sugar Farm where you will get to experience how they process this sugar and even sample some freshly made products here. Upon arrival at Floating Market you will head out by a long-tailed boat and get to experience this chaotic canal filled with colorful markets, merchants selling fresh fruit and vegetables as they paddle through the congested canal and simply just to sit back and embrace this everyday lifestyle of the local people. On our way to the next stop we pass through the Conservation Mangrove Centre where monkeys can be spotted. Arriving in Don Hoi Lot we enjoy a lovely lunch served at a seafood restaurant. We then continue to our final stop at Maeklong Railway Market, or "Talad Rom Hoop" where a guide will brief you on the history and then in just several minutes see the action as the train is due to pass through the market. Afterwards get transferred back to your hotel in Bangkok. Overnight in Bangkok.

Day 4 - Phuket Island

After breakfast you will be taken to the airport for your flight onward to Phuket. (flight included) On arrival in Phuket you will be greeted by a representative and taken to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day at own leisure. Overnight in Phuket.

Day 5 - Phuket Half Day Tour

After breakfast you will get ready for a morning, half day tour of Phuket Island. At approximately 08h00 you will be collected for a half-day tour to introduce you to the life and beauty of Phuket Island. We visit Phuket town with its Sino-Portuguese style buildings and bustling markets and return to your hotel at around 12h00. Rest of the afternoon is spent at own leisure. Overnight in Phuket

Day 6 - Full Day Phi Phi Island Early Bird Tour by Speedboat

Today's excursion takes you to some of South-East Asia's loveliest islands known as Phi Phi Islands. We start this day bright and early as we want to take advantage of less crowds and also get to experience more time around the islands. Our favorite stop on the Phi Phi Tour- Pileh Cove with towering cliffs surrounding an emerald green lagoon, makes it the perfect spot for some swimming, jump of the boat and simply enjoying this tropical reef. Transfer back to Phuket and making your way to your hotel. Overnight in Phuket.

Day 7 - Full Day Phang Nga Bay& James Bond Island

Phang Nga Bay lies between southern Thailand's mainland and Phuket Island or at the north east from the coast of Phuket which is one of Thailand's most beautiful natural landscapes. The bay and its islands are designated as national park, protecting the landscape for generations to visit, known as Ao Phang Nga National Park. It's characterized by limestone karsts and rock formations, as well as mangrove forests and small islands. Among the small islands, there is the iconic one called Koh Tapu, known as James Bond Island and Khao Ping Gan which looks like one rock leaning against one another. Koh Phanak Island is widely known for its caves and tidal lagoons. The bay's waters are dotted with coral reefs. As the bay filled with the limestone karsts which is calm and sheltered Bay. It will be shine its charming ray when it is back to it tranquil stage. Late access to the site is the best option to avoid the crowds so the tour will provide more private feeling. Its dramatic scenery of steep limestone karsts will be double as much its magnificence, besides, it will be spectacular triple as much when it becomes the twilight. At Panak Island, it is the highlight place for admiring sunset atmosphere during twilight time. The program not only reflects this beauty to your eyes but also gives a few small gifts to fulfill your experience such as access Hong Island and enjoy scenic views by a sit-on-top kayak with a guide who did all the padding. Kayaking access will give you the closely view touch of the limestone view or explore Khao Pingkan and Khao Tapu which became one of Thailand's more recognisable attractions after filming in the 1974 James Bond film, the Man with the Golden Gun.

Day 8 - Depart Phuket

Today is a sad day indeed as your awesome Thailand adventure comes to an end. Although the trip comes to an end your everlasting memories won't. After breakfast get ready for your pick-up transfer that will take you to the airport. Please note: Standard check out time at most hotels are at 10h00.

It will be 2 middle aged adults for about 14-16 days traveling from New York State.

It seems like a daunting trip and we are wondering if booking a completely guided tour package would be worth it. If so, what are some reputable companies? I am mostly nervous about getting from place to place, and having a trusted and informative guide, etc.

We want to visit

- Bangkok ( Grand Palace - Temple of the Emerald Buddha ,Wat Pho, Chinatown, flower market, Wat Traimit - Temple of the Golden Buddha, canal tour, Chatuchak market, Muay Thai match)

- Kanchanaburi to see Erawan NP

- Phi Phi Islands

- Khao Sok NP, etc.

Also, since we are in the "neighborhood" would it be reasonable to add a side visit to Vietnam ?

Any relevant advice or tips would be welcome.

I'm definitely no expert, but my husband and I have been to Thailand twice and are planning another visit later this year. We found no problems organising everything ourselves including transport and accommodation and we are middle-aged and beyond.

It is simple to use public transport in Bangkok (we make sure that our hotel is near to a MRT station) and to book train tickets online through the Thai Railways app or website which has an English option.

I can't offer any specific advice about the locations you mentioned apart from saying that we travelled to Kanchanaburi by train from Bangkok and stayed at the Good Times Resort for a few days. We caught a local bus to Erawan NP and enjoyed a great day there. The Jeath War Museum was interesting and a sobering experience. We walked across the bridge and bought some cold drinks from a lady with a tiny stall under the bridge on the far side. We also paid a visit to the War Cemetery which is beautifully maintained and very tranquil and emotional place.

Thailand is easy yo do yourself. Can book Hotels and flights online.

Train to Kanchanaburi , no need to book just turn up about 20 minutes before it leaves, it is 3rd class only, so no AC.

Chatuchak market is only at weekends. Easy to get to by BTS (Skytrain ) or taxi.

Other places in Bangkok , you can reach most by river.There are regular boats.

Guides, no idea, never use them,

This is not a good forum to ask about package tours as 99% of people here are DIYers. But there are a number of good DMCs in the area such as Asian Trails, Trails of Indochina, EXO Travel which will plan a holiday either directly with you or through your travel agent. Of course this route would be more expensive, as everyone needs to make a little money. And it would be privately run from just you. There are also join packages, but they tend to do too much in too short a period of time.

Unlike many posters it is good to see you have done some research before asking

“Booking a guided tour worth it?”

That depends on you it will cost you a lot of money for something you can do yourself far cheaper especially if it is bespoke. If you feel it is worth paying for someone to take the hassle out of booking travel, transfers, tours and accommodation then go for it.
