L'avis du guide michelin.

Devanture engageante et cadre épuré (peinture sombre effet brossé, structure en bois, grande vitre apportant de la luminosité) pour ce restaurant imaginé par un passionné de produit qui a officié dix-huit ans chez Hiramatsu, dont dix en tant que chef. Il émerveille son monde avec une cuisine française éclatante de modernité, précise et cohérente, qui fait la part belle à des produits d'excellente qualité tout en épousant les saisons de fort belle manière. Pas de carte ici : les menus évoluent chaque jour au gré des humeurs du chef. Au fait, pourquoi l'Archeste ? Dans ce nom, il faut voir un hommage à Alain Senderens et à son restaurant l’Archestrate, mais aussi un savant mélange d'artiste, d'artisanal, d'orchestre et d'art. Au final, l'important, c'est qu'on s'y régale... et figurez-vous que c'est le cas.

Pont et Tour de l'Ile Rue de la Tour-de-l'Ile 1204 Genève

Le Pont de l’Ile is what made Geneva a major crossroads for European trade. The history of this strategic site confirms that Geneva, often coveted by is neighbours over the centuries, was always set apart by its tenacity.

Opposite the Place Bel-Air is a little island on the Rhône. For many years this was the only checkpoint on the route linking northern and southern Europe, thanks to its bridge that spanned the two river banks. The commemorative plaque tells us that Julius Caesar had this bridge destroyed in 58 BC, which is when Geneva enters into the history books. Following its reconstruction, the city became a major European trade centre. In the 13th century a fortified castle was built here, of which only the tower now remains. The nearby Brasserie des Halles de l’Ile is the perfect spot to take a break!

Not sure what happened, Ukulele is usually awesome. Hopefully it’s just a blip? …but we noticed the pad Thai now has all sorts of extras for extra €. Didn’t add anything because usually the pad Thai is perfect as is, but oh, those aren’t ‘extras’; they’ve stripped back the dish to the bare bones and it’s sadly very bland. Tofu had zero flavour to it, and the shrimp pad Thai suffered from overcooked shrimp. Red curry w/chicken had less ‘stuff’ and more sauce but still good flavour. It was all more or less fine, but sadly not the calibre usually delivered.

I am really disappointed with this order. It cost me a total of 24 euros for a very small box of a Pad Thai Noodles. The box was so small and the quantity inside was so less it was not at all fair in comparison to the price it costs. Also the pad Thai noodles was completely different. Normally pad Thai noodles aren't made with the noodles that I got. I kindly request you to look into this matter and kindly refund me the amount. The escargot was just ok, a bit fishy smell... The Poulet was really good, with nice rice and the sauce was amazing! couldn't get enough with it. and they have those toasted banana with the course, which surprised everyone on the table. nobody guessed what it really was but it was really tasty. desserts were normal. I liked the ice-cream.

We had a quick bite while on our way to Pont de Bir-Hakiem. We ordered a crepe and omelet and both were ok, nothing special. Bit of a shame that the waters we ordered where 5 euros each, for 250 ml. Would not recommend it, big suprise because the drinks are not on the menu. Will make sure to pass this next time!

Walked into this place and was glad I was able to order take out! Had the grilled chicken, rice and plantains and it was so fulfilling and flavorful. The chicken was cooked to perfection and not dry. To top it off, got the caramel flan which is so good, and not to sweet. Melts in your mouth kind of special goodness.

This stunning and rare duplex on the 5th and 6th floors of a high quality 1910 building with elevator is perfectly situated near the prestigious Trocadéro Square. A former artist’s workshop, the apartment was elegantly renovated into a spacious, light-filled 2-bedroom, 1.5 bath apartment. 

On the 5th floor, a spacious living room with a wall of windows offers open views over rooftops and gardens. Opposite is a comfortable dining room and an open plan kitchen with a pantry/laundry room, and separate WC.

Upstairs on the 6th floor: two bedrooms, including a large master bedroom, and an open space office that could be converted into a third bedroom. Ther is a full bathroom with a bathtub and a shower.

A maid’s room (7.5m2) with water hook-ups and a cellar complete the property.

Paris: 16th arrondissement

The bourgeois 16 th  is still the strong favorite for families looking for good schools, tree-lined boulevards and well-maintained dressed stone buildings.  This large arrondissement, spanning the entire west side of Paris, contains mostly residential neighborhoods, but also a couple of gorgeous parks.  The immense Bois de Boulogne offers everything from horse racing, to boating on lakes, a children’s amusement park, extensive rose gardens, an outdoor theatre and a number of lovely restaurants.  The areas closest to the Arc de Triomphe, Trocadero, and the Place Victor Hugo are the most expensive areas for real estate, while the area to the south along Ave. Mozart to Village d’Auteuil is populated with gated communities of single-family mansions. Historically the home of the French and international bourgeois, the many hôtels particuliers here remain prestigious private homes, or house a number of Paris’ museums, embassies and cultural centers.

The 16th arrondissement is still the strong favorite for families looking for good schools, lush parks, good quality of life and well-maintained classic style buildings. Prices are highest in the northern areas around Victor Hugo, the Etoile and the Trocadero.  Prices dip farther south near around avenue Mozart and the Mairie, as well as the area near Auteuil, which is a favorite for some French residents for its village-like feel.  The lowest prices are found in the southern most part of the 16th.

Paris evolved out of a walled city, and some historians argue that this alone has given Paris a certain logic that London or Boston lacks. Paris has really never lost its walls: 900 years after the 12th-century wall of Philippe August, we now live in a city walled by its ring-road, the Péripherique highway. This succession of walls, gradually torn down and rebuilt through the centuries, has created a spiraling city, which grew gradually out from the Ile de la Cité. It’s not surprising that some of the oldest buildings are near the center of the spiral.

(1840- early-20th-century)

By 1853, the city had over 1 million people. Only one house in five had running water; of these, most only had plumbing on the ground floor. Napoleon III tapped Baron Haussmann to renovate Paris. The goal was to ease traffic by creating large boulevards and to promote hygiene by integrating a clean water and sewage system, as well as to house the burgeoning upper class. Featuring an intricate cut stone façade, the common layout in a Haussmannian style building is large apartments (200 to 300 m²) with multiple salons de reception , marble fireplaces, chevron parquet floors, high ceilings with elaborate crown moldings, and a grand stairwell with an elevator to the side rather than in the center. Found around the grand boulevards in the center of Paris and in the 8 th , 10 th , 14 th , 15 th ,16 th , 17 th , 18 th , 20 th arrondissements.

(1893-1917)

Art Nouveau was a brief fin-de-siecle architectural trend lasting approximately from 1893 to the beginning of World War I. Best known for the style is Hector Guimard. His curving “cigarette smoke” line had already made waves on buildings in the elegant 16th arrondissement, but his Art Nouveau was motivated by a social conscience, much like the Arts and Crafts Movement in Britain. Hired in 1896 to design the metro entrances, he leapt at the chance to design something beautiful for the masses. But when Guimard unveiled his brilliant Métro work in 1900 everyone hated it. The shiny green color was considered unpatriotic, too close to Prussian green, and the writhing insect-like metalwork was much too weird for the public. Time has defeated his critics however, and Guimard’s Art Nouveau Métro entrances have become one of the city’s trademarks.

At the end of World War I, Paris was exuberant—the world had just survived “the war to end all wars. High-speed ocean liners crisscrossed the Atlantic; Surrealism shocked the art world; radios poured out jazz music. The Modern Age had arrived. Trying to express this freedom and movement, architects responded to the jazzy rhythm with angular shapes reminiscent of the new cruise ships. World War II put an end to Art Deco’s optimism and the less-flamboyant lines of pure Modernism took over. Factories from this time have converted into residential use. Turning a loft into a livable space requires consulting an architect. In general, remodeling the interior of a loft will not require approval from building co-owners but any changes affecting the exterior of the building will need building co-owner and city approval.

Through the Seventies

These years are often seen as a disaster for French architecture. Some terrible mistakes were made, in particular the destruction of Les Halles in central Paris. Building styles from the 1950’s had to meet a large demand for new housing quickly and affordably as almost no new housing in Paris had been created during the previous 20 years. To meet the demand over 2500 buildings were constructed during the decade but Paris did not have a coherent building plan in place so developers were left to their own whims as to the height and size of their buildings with little concern for the surrounding architecture. Developers often prioritised profit over architectural beauty but they provided the Parisian population with well-equipped, low-rent housing. At the same time this was the period of Le Corbusier and his influence can be seen in the luxury buildings of the period which often have large balconies, modern layouts, and lots of light. The majority of buildings from this period have a brick, stone or concrete façade, elevators, low ceilings, carpeting, and small rooms.

Contemporary, 1980 to Present

In the 1980s, President Mitterrand unveiled a new architectural concept to move Paris into the next millennium. His “grands travaux” brought both praise and horror as they evolved, but no one can deny that the final result is a renewed and diverse city. Mitterrand is responsible for commissioning the Grand Louvre’s new glass pyramid entrance (created by I.M. Pei), the move of the Ministry of Finance into a new building (designed by Paul Chemetov), the Grande Arche de la Defense (by Von Spreckelsen), the Cité de la Musique (by Pritzer-prize winner Christian de Portzamparc), the Institut du Monde Arabe (by Jean Nouvel), the Opera Bastille (by the less-accomplished Carlos Ott), and the new library (by Dominique Perrault), now named the Bibliotèque François-Mitterrand.  Apartment buildings from this period offer large windows and storage space, but lack the architectural details of previous styles.

A temple of French gastronomy, L’Astrance is one of the best restaurants in Paris and is quite expensive. it is still possible to reserve a table with only two to three weeks’ notice as this amazing restaurant is a well-kept secret among the French and they’d like to keep it that way. The cuisine is original and quite creative (think mashed potatoes served as a dessert) and the preparation, the service, and the presentation is flawless, to say the least.

Not only should Chapelle Notre-Dame du Saint Sacrement be visited, but also Tang . The varied menu based on Chinese cuisine is what you are offered at this restaurant. Tang has delicious wine or good champagne among its drinks. It might be cool to enjoy great coffee .
