The UAE is offering new types of visa, including options for long-stay tourists, jobseekers, accomplished professionals, star students and high-net-worth individuals. Wam

The new UAE visa rules that came into effect on October 3 allow holidaymakers to stay for 60 days at a time.

The decision to make all entry visas valid for 60 days from the date of issue ― double the previous allowance ― is one of a series of visa changes that were approved by the Cabinet in April.

Previously, there was no specific visa for tourists and those wishing to visit the UAE applied for 30-day, 60-day or 90-day visit visas.

The one, two and three-month entry permits are still available on a new visa, but mainly for people wishing to visit friends or relatives in the country, which requires documentary evidence proving the relationship and reasons for the visit.

All entry visas are available for single or multiple entry and can be renewed for a further 60 days.

Roshan Davis, manager of Golden Talent Tourism Agency in Dubai, said the change has made it easier for tourists to spend extended time in the country exploring and enjoying everything it has to offer.

“We have received more than 50 tourist visa applications from customers in the past four days,” he said.

Who is the tourist visa for?

Those who do not qualify for a visa on arrival or visa-free entry to the UAE can apply for a tourist visa.

Citizens from 69 countries and states are eligible for a visa on arrival in the UAE . Females below the age of 18 are not eligible to apply for a tourist visa unless they are travelling with their parents.

How can I apply for a tourist visa?

Visitors from countries that do not have a visa-on-arrival arrangement with the UAE can apply for their visas in advance through a travel agency or through the airline with which they are travelling.

How much does the tourist visa cost?

Mr Davis said they charge between Dh550 and Dh600 for 60-day visas and between Dh350 and Dh750 for one, two and three-month visa requests for visiting relatives.

A 60-day single entry visa with Etihad Airways costs Dh650, while a similar visa from Emirates airline costs Dh697 ($190). Both airlines offer a shorter, 30-day visa priced at Dh350 for Etihad and Dh330 ($90) for Emirates.

The Abu Dhabi Tourist Visa Explained – Rule Changes in 2022

On this page, we detail everything you need to know about tourist visas for Abu Dhabi and the UAE. Note that these visa rules apply no matter which Emirate you come in and out of.

We have updated this page following changes to the visa system in October 2022.

We have attempted to provide clear and accurate information; however, at the time of writing, some aspects of the new Visa system are not entirely clear during this transition period. This page will be amended as soon as more official information becomes available.

In addition to requiring a visa to enter the country as a tourist, please keep abreast of current COVID-19 requirements . As of 7 November, 2022, the Al Hosn “Green Pass” requirement was abolished .

Who needs to apply for a Tourist Visa?

Anyone not a GCC national or eligible for a visa on arrival (see list below) must apply for a visa in advance to visit the UAE.

You can apply either through your airline or UAE-registered tour operator for the appropriate visa.

  • Visa services from Etihad Airways
  • Visa Services offered by Emirates Airline
  • Visa services from Fly Dubai
  • Visa services from Air Arabia

A single entry transit visa for less than 48 hours is free, whilst of 4-day short-stay, visa costs 50AED.

A 30-day, single-entry visa costs in the region of 350 AED, depending on the service that you use to obtain it. Alternatively, a 60-day single-entry visa costs in the region of 650 AED. Both 30 and 60-day single-entry visit visas can be extended for a further 30 days for a fee of 960 AED.

Note that people under the age of 18 cannot apply for a tourist visa unless they are travelling with their parents.

Visa-Free Entry to the UAE

Citizens from  GCC Countries   do not need to apply for a visa on arrival to the UAE.

Countries eligible for Visa on Arrival

Upon landing at Abu Dhabi International Airport, simply make your way to immigration, where your visa will be issued.

These countries are currently eligible for a FREE visit visa on arrival to the UAE:

  • Czech Republic
  • Liechtenstein
  • Netherlands
  • New Zealand
  • People’s Republic of China
  • Republic of El Salvador
  • Republic of Mauritius
  • Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
  • South Korea
  • Switzerland
  • United Kingdom
  • United States of America
  • Vatican City

A visit visa for most of these countries lasts for 60 days and can be renewed for another 30 days twice. If you overstay a visit visa, the fine is 200 AED for the first day and 100 AED per day after that – see more below on overstays.

There is a 10-day grace period (this means that you won’t be fined for overstaying your visa until Day 70).

Note that the 26 countries in the Schengen Zone had previously been allowed to stay in the UAE for 90 days, although it is unclear whether this is still the case following the immigration reforms of October 2022.

Five-Year Multi-Visit Visa (New in 2022)

A five-year multi-visit visa is also available for the above countries, which allows the holder to stay in the UAE for up to 90 days in a row and up to 180 days per year.

In order to apply for this type of visa, you need to prove that you have USD 4,000 in your bank account (for at least six months prior to the visa application) and purchase UAE Health Insurance.

Citizens of India

There are specific rules applicable to Indian citizens,  which you can find here .

If you have any concerns, you should verify this information on the UAE Government website.

What happens if my tourist Visa has expired?

If your 60-day tourist visa to the UAE has expired, you have two options:

  • Can I Drink Alcohol in Abu Dhabi? Legal Drinking Age & Updated Laws
  • When is it Best to Visit Abu Dhabi? Your 2024-25 Guide
  • What to Expect at Abu Dhabi International Airport AUH
  • Leave the country before your 10-day grace period expires (ie, by day 69)
  • Apply to Immigration and pay a fee to have your visit visa extended. It is currently understood that you are able to extend your 60-day visa by 30 days twice, giving you a maximum of 120 days in the UAE ( previously, you could keep renewing indefinitely by leaving the country and returning).

What is a Visa Run?

A Visa run is a common expression used for when you leave the country in order to re-enter and start a fresh visit visa immediately.

Most commonly, this is done on the UAE’s border with Oman as it is quite straightforward and inexpensive to cross by land, provided you have access to a car. We have a detailed guide on how the process works on our Dubai Travel Planner site . It is identical for Abu Dhabi, although there may be closer border crossing points to consider near Al Ain.

There is no need to do a visa run as visas can easily be renewed online, but it is still an option which helps combine costs with a trip to a neighbouring country.

Accidental overstays

It’s important to note if you leave the country during the first 60 days, your UAE Visa on Arrival will not renew upon re-entry. It’s a 60-day multi-entry Visa .  If you are travelling through Abu Dhabi, let’s say onward to Europe, then have a stopover in Abu Dhabi again, be very careful if that second stop sees you cross over from 60 days to 70 days.

Eg: You arrive in Abu Dhabi on 1 September, stay for a few days, and then fly on to Europe. You return to the UAE on 30 October.  You then spend two weeks in Abu Dhabi and fly out again on 12 November.

Even though you only stayed in the UAE for just over two weeks, your original 60-day visa was still valid on re-entry. You are considered to have overstayed your visit visa by 12 days as you did not leave the country, and it was not renewed during the 10-day grace period.

Road trip to Oman?

A good way to avoid this can be to include a trip to Oman with your Abu Dhabi trip!  Musandam is our favourite location for an overnight trip, although the closest crossing point from Abu Dhabi city is Al Ain; not only an amazing experience, but you can avoid any issues with overstaying your visa and receiving a fine by exiting the country between day 60 and day 69.

There are a few small costs involved, and depending on your nationality, you may need to apply for an e-visa in advance. Other than transportation, you have to pay an exit fee to the UAE, and a  tourist Visa entry fee to Oman, currently 5OR for a 10-day visit visa.

Re-entering the UAE, there are no charges on the Omani or UAE side, just stamping of your passports.

If you are travelling in a hire car, you will need to check that your insurance covers Oman and obtain a ’no objection certificate (NOC)’.

NB If you are looking to work in the UAE and become a resident, different visa categories will apply.  You may still be instructed by a future employer to enter on a tourist visa; then you will be changed across to the appropriate visa category in due course.

abu dhabi visit visa price 60 days

There has never been a better time to move to Abu Dhabi with over 60 visa options available. Deciding which visa to apply for can be tricky, but understanding the requirements and your eligibility can make the process easier.

What is the Difference Between an Entry Permit and a Residence Visa?

Entry permit throughout.

An Entry Visa allows you to enter and stay in Abu Dhabi legally for a short period of time and can be granted for a number of reasons including employment, visits, tourism, medical treatment, missions and conferences. Most entry visas are valid for two months (60 days) but the duration depends on the type of Entry Visa. For example, entry visas for transit allow you to stay in the country for only four days, while entry visas for employment allow you to stay in the country for 60 days during which you must obtain a residence visa or apply for an extension.

All visas can be extended for 30 days twice without needing to leave and re-enter the country for renewal. If you fail to extend your entry visa and overstay, you will have to pay a fine of AED 100 per day, which is calculated from 10 days after the expiration date of the visa. The rules for extension do not apply to certain groups including: visitors and tourists who are residents in GCC countries; residents accompanying GCC nationals; those on special entry permits; and those on 96-hour permits for special missions.

  • Residence Visa

A Residence Visa is issued to people who are already in the country after entering the UAE on an Entry or Tourist Visa. It allows you to live and work in Abu Dhabi and can last from one to three years depending on the sponsor. Long term residence visas are available for five or 10 years subject to certain conditions.

Do You Need a Visa to Enter the UAE?

Yes. Coming to Abu Dhabi requires obtaining an entry visa , which allows you to enter and stay in the emirate legally for a short period of time. Conditions for obtaining an Entry Visa differ based on nationality, the purpose of the visit and the duration of stay. Before you apply for an entry visa, check if you are eligible for visa-free entry or can receive a visa on arrival.

Gulf Cooperation Countries (GCC)

Visa on arrival, pre-arranged entry visa, sponsorship, valid documents, no restrictions.

Citizens of GCC countries do not require an Entry Visa or to be sponsored by a UAE national or resident in order to enter the UAE. They simply need to provide their passport or national ID issued by a GCC country at the point of entry. The validity of entry permits for GCC residents is 30 days.

Citizens of these countries are not required to apply for an Entry Visa prior to arrival. Instead, an entry visa is issued automatically upon arrival and it is valid for 30 days with a 10-day period for extension.

The list is subject to change; therefore it is advisable to check with the UAE embassy abroad or the airline before travelling to Abu Dhabi.

Anyone who does not have the privilege of visa-free entry or visa on arrival must apply for an entry visa ahead of travel.

You need a sponsor to apply for your entry permit. The sponsor can be:

  • Tourism establishments
  • Companies based in Abu Dhabi
  • Individuals (UAE national or an expatriate who is already living in the country with a valid residence visa)

You must have a valid passport with at least six months validity from the date of entry.

You must not have been previously deported or banned from entering the UAE. A visa ban prohibits a person from entering the country or taking up a new job. If either of these conditions apply, you must obtain special permission to re-enter the UAE. Apply for an entry visa

How Much Does a Visa Cost?

Overstaying your visa, overstaying a tourist or visit visa, overstaying a residence visa, modifying visa status.

Visa fees vary by type and usually take three to four business days to process. Urgent processing can be requested for an additional fee of AED 100. Visit smartservices.icp.gov.ae

Visas are granted with a start and end date. Visa holders who stay beyond the expiration date of their visas and fail to obtain an extension are subject to financial penalties.

Tourist Visa and Visit Visa holders have a 10 day grace period to obtain an extension. If a tourist or visitor stays beyond the grace period, fines will accrue as follows:

Residents have a 30 day grace period to get a new Residence Visa or leave the country. If a resident stays beyond the grace period, fines will accrue as follows:

Holders of all visa types can modify their visa and transfer it into a Residence Visa while staying in the country. Applicants must meet the requirements for a residence visa, pay a fee of AED 500 in lieu of leaving and complete the process before the entry visa expires to avoid penalty.

UAE tourist visa: 60-day visit visas come into effect in September

  • August 17, 2022
  • By Matt Cassidy

You will also have the option to extend for a further 60 days.

It’s great news for those of us who have family members coming to the UAE as they will be able to get a visit visa of 60 days in September.

Yes, holidaymakers and those looking to relocate to the UAE will now have double the amount of time to enjoy the wonders of the country.

Currently, many nationalities can only receive a 30-day visa on arrival where they will have a nine-day grace period to renew their visa for a further 30 days or else face being slapped with a AED 100 fine a day.

As part of a major reform of the visa announced by UAE authorities back in April , those entering the UAE from September will be able to extend their visa for a further 60 days, offering you a potential 120 days in the UAE.

But the new 60-day visit visa is not the only tourist visa that will become available next month.

A new five-year, multi-entry tourist visa which allows visitors to stay up to 90 continuous days in the UAE without a sponsor will also come into effect.

However, information on how to obtain the five-year tourist visa has yet to be revealed.

How you can extend validity of UAE visit visa for 60 more days

Living in uae.

ICP’s new service can be completed online by the visa sponsor

STOCK ABU DHABI AIRPORT

Dubai: The UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) has launched a service that allows visit visa holders to extend the validity of their visas online.

Visit visas, which are a type of entry permit , are issued to foreign nationals, allowing them to enter the UAE for various reasons – whether for tourism, medical treatment or to study.

As per the ICP website, this new service allows for the extension of this visit visa. “The extension period depends on the type of entry permit issued in terms of duration and the number of times the extension request can be submitted,” the website stated.

What is visa validity?

According to Adnan Khan, operation manager at Siddique Haider Corporate Services Provider, the visa validity refers to the amount of time within which you can travel on a particular visa.

“After the visa is issued, you have 60 days to travel. After 60 days, the visa expires. Before the 60-day deadline, if you think you will not be able to travel on the visa, you can extend the validity of the visa through this service,” he told Gulf News.

“Sometimes people have their visas issued and they might not be able to leave the country, for whichever reason. They will just have to pay the fee to extend the visa validity, which would be better than having to apply for a new visa, which would cost them more,” he said.

For how many days can the validity be extended?

The service allows visit visa holders to extend the validity of their visit visa for up to 60 days and those on a visa issued to receive a medical treatment or to study can extend it for up to 90 days.

Who can apply for this service?

Sirajudeen Ummer, Business Development Manager at Supreme Business Services, reiterated that this new service from ICP can only be applied for when the visa holder is still outside the UAE.

“All tourist visas issued by ICP can be extended by 60 days through this one ICP service,” he said.

To apply for the service ‘extend entry permit’, the sponsor of the visa will have to approach ICP or its registered typing centre. However, you should ensure that if you are extending your visit visa, your passport is valid for at least six more months.

What is the cost of the service?

According to the ICP website, the cost of extending the visa validity depends on the type of visa you are trying to extend.

How long does it take to receive the extension?

The entry permit is issued within 48 hours, if the application meets all the requirements, and sent electronically to the email address registered with ICP.

A UAE Visit Visa (Dubai Visit Visa) is for foreign nationals who are not eligible for a visa on arrival or visa-free entry to the United Arab Emirates.

A Visit Visa UAE is a short-term visa, which means that the Visa is only valid for a short period. If you stay longer than the date of issue (your visa's expiry date), you will get a fine.

This visa allows you to spend time with your family and friends who reside in the UAE on a long-term visa. The validity of a visit visa depends on the visa type; however, they are extendable.

There is a small difference between the two visa types. However, to explain better, the difference between the two is that you can apply for a tourist visa yourself without needing sponsorship from your family member in the UAE.

Whereas a visit visa UAE is to visit your friends, relatives, or family members in the UAE on a residence visa. They must sponsor you and apply for the visa on your behalf on online government portals such as ICP or GDRFA service.

At times, people tend to interchange the name and review one type as the other. But in essence, a visit visa - UAE is when you visit friends or family members.

But suppose you do not need to get sponsored. In that case, you can apply for the visa normally through Atlys , airlines, or the other available channels in your country.

If you are eligible for a visa on arrival, this means that you do not need to apply for a visa before traveling to UAE.

However, keep in mind that depending on your passport, you can only stay in the country for a specific number of days.

You can get a Visa On Arrival if you are a citizen of one of the following countries:

VOA for 30 days are:

If your country is not on the list above, it means that you must get a visit visa for UAE before traveling.

The citizens of GCC countries (the Gulf Cooperation Council) do not require a visa to visit the UAE, which includes:

B ahrain, K uwait, O man, Q atar, and S audi Arabia

However, suppose you have a resident visa for a GCC country. In that case, you can apply for your eVisa through the ICP or GDRFAD website before your arrival. And you cannot apply for a visa on arrival in UAE.

Yes. You can apply for your UAE visit visa online. For example, you can apply through Atlys or Airline web pages that allow online application.

Whereas your sponsors living in UAE can apply on your behalf through online application centers such as the ICP or the GDRFAD website.

However, in some cases, navigating through an online portal can be difficult as each method of applying is different.

The easiest way to apply for your Dubai Tourist Visa online is through Atlys. The entire UAE tourist visa can be done from the comfort of your couch in less than 5 minutes.

No. Unfortunately, the UAE embassy does not process visa applications for tourism or visit purposes. Instead, you must apply using one of the methods mentioned in the blog.

But I would suggest you check with the embassy of UAE in your country whether they offer such services.

The visa type will differ depending on how long you wish to stay in the country. However, these visa types can be extended should you need to stay in the country for longer.

The UAE government offers the following types of visit visas:

30-Day Single Entry Visit Visa: This tourist visa allows the holder to enter and exit UAE once and stay for the duration of the visa's validity period, which is 30 days .

30-Day Single Multiple Visit Visa: This tourist visa allows the holder to enter and exit UAE multiple times during the validity of the visa, which is 30 days .

60-Days Single Entry Visit Visa: This tourist visa allows the holder to enter and exit UAE once and stay for the duration of the visa's validity period, which is 60 days . This visa type was previously discontinued; however, since October 2022, the visa agents have said they started granting it again, according to the Khaleej Times .

60-Days Multiple Entry Visit Visa: This tourist visa allows the holder to enter and exit UAE multiple times during the validity of the visa, which is 60 days .

90-Day Single Entry Visit Visa: This tourist visa allows the holder to enter and exit UAE once and stay for the duration of the visa's validity period, which is 90 days .

90-Day Single Multiple Visit Visa: This tourist visa allows the holder to enter and exit UAE multiple times during the validity of the visa, which is 90 days .

Well, this pretty much depends on the visit visa UAE you applied for. And hence, generally, the maximum validity of your stay period is between 30 to 120 days , and you are either allowed single or multiple entries into the country.

The visa fees vary depending on the visa type and where you apply for it. So, depending on your chosen application method, the visa fee could be more or less. Apart from the visa fee, you will be charged additional fees , which include the service fee, VAT, issuance fee, and application fee.

The following visa fees from GDRFA exclude the service fees:

Single entry long-period visa:

30-day single entry visit visa: AED 200

60-day single entry visit visa: AED 300

90-day single entry visit visa: AED 400

You can also apply for a friend or family visa , which allows a muli-entry. Here are the fees for the multi-entry visit visa:

30-day multiple entry visit visa: AED 300

60-day multiple entry visit visa: AED 500

90-day multi-entry visit visa: AED 700

There is also an option of applying for a visit visa to explore job or business opportunities . Here are the fees for these visas:

60-day visit visa: AED 200

90-day visit visa: AED 300

120-day visit visa: AED 400

Remember, the visa fees are non-refundable, and depending on what information you put in your application, the visa fee could vary. And you also have to pay a security deposit for the online applications.

* Fees are eligible to change. Please be sure to check the government website for the most updated information.

Generally, if you have all the necessary documentation, the visa processing should take no more than 3 to 5 working days excluding weekends or public holidays in UAE.

However, in some cases, it could take longer, and it all depends on your visa application.

UAE is very strict with its immigration rules. And since the majority of their processes are centralized and computerized, it is extremely difficult to get away with anything.

So I decided to add a few rules that you should follow during your visit to the UAE:

If you are a GCC resident, you cannot renew your visit visa

You cannot overstay your visa without extending your tourist or visit visa to UAE

You cannot work or study on a visit visa

You cannot take up residency with a visit visa for UAE

Yes, you can. You can extend all types of visit and tourist visas for 30 days twice upon applying for it and after successful approval by the relevant authority. You can do this without leaving the country.

You can apply for the second renewal before the expiry of the first one against AED 600 for each time of renewal.

As mentioned above, visa overstayers who do not renew will have to pay AED 100 fine for each day of their overstay, to be calculated 10 days after the visa expiry.

Additionally, for citizens legible for VOA, if you have fully utilized the 30 or 90 days stay within 6 months , you can still apply for a pre-arranged visa which allows them to stay in the UAE for up to 90 days .

You can apply for a visa extension through the Federal Authority For Identity & Citizenship, Customs & Port Security website . When accessing the website, click on the "Public Visa Service" option. This will take you straight to the page where you can apply for your Dubai Tourist Visa extension.

First, you must provide your passport number, passport type, date of birth, and nationality. Then, at the bottom of the page, you'll see the types of Dubai Tourist Visas you can extend.

The visa extension process is very straightforward; you must provide personal information, attach the required documents (the same documents as your visa application), and then pay the service fee.

The visit visa extension UAE fee 2022 is AED 600 for each visa extension. And you can extend your visit visa for UAE twice for 30 days each .

If you are on a visit visa UAE and overstay your visa validity, you will be fined and deported. However, you have a 10 days grace period after your visa expires to extend or renew your visa.

If you fail to do so and the 10-day grace period has passed, you will have to pay the following fine:

After overstaying your first day after the grace period, you pay AED 200

After that, you pay AED100 for each consecutive day

And an additional AED 100 , as service fees

No. You cannot work in the UAE on a visit visa since it is illegal. You need a valid work permit and an employment visa to be able to work in the country.

If you are caught working on a visit visa or tourist visa, you could end up getting fined and deported.

That's Everything About The UAE Visas!

Well, that is all I have for you in this blog!

I hope you got all the information you needed for your UAE visa application. Feel free to check out the FAQ should there be any more doubts.

Tourists in the UAE on a 30 or 60 days visit visa can extend their stay within the country by another 30 days. The decision by the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) and the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) grants visitors an additional 30 days to explore and enjoy the country’s diverse offerings.

The UAE has implemented several changes in its visa procedures since October last year, marking one of the largest residency and entry permit reforms by the ICP (Immigration and Citizenship Program). Since then, several developments have taken place in the visit visa system of the country.

As per the ICA website, individuals holding a visit visa of 30 or 60 days will now be eligible for an additional 30-day stay, and the maximum extension period for a visit visa holder is 120 days.

A call centre representative of Amer Centre said that a visit visa extension within the country is possible and “one must contact their visa issuing agent to for the extension."

Maximum extension

According to a call centre representative at ICP, it is possible to obtain a visa extension within the country for a period of 30 days. This extension applies to both long-term and short-term visit visas. However, it is important to note that the total duration of stay within a year should not exceed 120 days.

The call centre executive clarified, “If a visitor is on a 30 days visa, the extension can be possible up to 120 days (30 days on each extension),” added the executive.

Procedure for extension

"If a tourist or a visitor would like to extend their stay, they should contact the issuing travel agent or sponsor," said Firose Khan, operation manager at Arabian Business Centre.

"Your sponsor or travel agent who issued the visa can provide you with information on the extension process, required documentation, fees, and any other relevant details. It's important to initiate this process well before your current visa's expiration to allow sufficient time for the extension to be processed," added Khan.

Documentation required

The visitor’s passport is required to extend a visit visa. The issuing agent will provide more details on the required documents.

Time duration for extension

The process may take a few days from submitting the documents depending on your travel agent who applies for the service. However, on the ICP website, the “time to complete the service after its requirements are completed is 48 hours,”

Extension charges:

“The cost of extension for a month is Dh1,050,” said Khan.

The GDRFA elaborated the costs of extension and gave a breakdown of the rates on their website.

Visa extension fee: Dh600, in addition to the value-added tax (5%).

Additional fees (if the sponsored person is inside the country):

Knowledge dirham : Dh10

Innovation dirham : Dh10

Fee inside the country: Dh500

The website also mentioned, “The total amount of the visa may vary depending on the circumstances surrounding the sponsored person or for any other reasons that may require that,”

On ICP website, the cost vary.

Request fee: Dh100

Issuance fee: Dh500, and other related charges are applicable.

The website also mentions the application for an extension of entry permit for tourism is made through the tourism companies. Agents have urged the visitors to leave the country before the visa expiry or extend their visas to avoid attracting any penalties or difficulties while exiting.

This extension caters to various purposes, including tourism, family visits, business meetings, and other personal matters. "Visitors can utilise this extra time to explore the country's iconic landmarks, indulge in shopping, savour culinary delights, or simply relax in the UAE's world-class hospitality," said Khan.
