Owing to the 2020-2021 health advisory, Napa wineries on this list may have modified their pet policies. Plus, all wine tasting is strictly by appointment only for the foreseeable future. Although I try to keep this post as updated as possible, please call/email before you make your reservation online to confirm if dogs are allowed during wine tasting.

DOG FRIENDLY WINERIES IN NAPA VALLEY

Napa valley, comprising of the cities of Napa, Carneros, Oakville, St. Helena, Yountville, Rutherford and Calistoga is about 1.5 hrs north-east of San Francisco and is synonymous with California wine country where people flock from all over the world to taste the very best of New World libations. It is one of the best road trips from San Francisco to embark on in search of good food and wine.

With rolling hills covered in vineyards stretching for miles, wineries big and small beckoning wine lovers and some of the best restaurants in the world enticing you with their California-influenced cuisine, this part of the state is breathtakingly beautiful to say the least! No wonder then that Napa is considered one of the most romantic getaways in Northern California!

Napa is also quite dog friendly and much like wineries in nearby Sonoma that welcome dogs , there is no dearth of dog friendly wineries in Napa . Infact, many winemakers have furry companions who may greet you upon your visit, as you can see in these books on Wine Dogs of California .

Because of its proximity to San Francisco (70-80 miles northeast), you can easily visit the dog friendly wineries in Napa as a Bay Area day trip ! This will also help save some money in lodging since staying overnight in dog friendly hotels in Napa can be really expensive

FAQs ON VISITING DOG FRIENDLY NAPA WINERIES

Don’t skip this section if you’re planning to visit the dog friendly wineries in Napa Valley with your pups. Lots of useful information here based on my many, many visits with my dogs Babu and Gunda which will help you plan your trip smoothly.

Do wineries in Napa allow dogs?

Napa valley has hundred of wineries and tasting rooms, many of which are dog friendly! Well behaved dogs on leash are welcome in many Napa wineries, either in the tasting room or in the outdoors (patio/garden) and sometimes in both. Read my detailed dog friendly Napa valley winery guide below to find out about all these fabulous napa wineries allowing dogs.

Does Napa Valley allow dogs?

Absolutely! Napa valley is a haven for dogs-starting from wineries and tasting rooms to restaurants and some really nice hiking trails. Plus, there are many stores in downtown Napa, St. Helena and Calistoga which allow dogs.

Are dogs allowed at Castello di Amorosa?

YES, Castello di Amorosa is dog friendly! Dogs are allowed in the tasting room and also on the self guided tour of the castle. They are not allowed on the guided tour. Scroll down to our experience in Castello di Amorosa with our pup Gunda to learn more.

What are the rules for bringing dogs to wine tasting in Napa?

Dogs must be well behaved to be allowed for wine tasting in Napa, i.e. no aggressive dogs allowed . Dogs should be on leash at all times during the tasting and under supervision of their owners.

They should not be allowed to stray off or mingle with other guests on their own (unless of course the guest is another dog lover coming up to you voluntarily to pet your fluffball!). I highly recommend bringing treats and water (these collapsible dog bowls are great for travel) along with you to keep your dog engaged during wine tasting.

Do you need reservations for wineries in Napa?

As I have explained in my first time visitors guide to Napa , wineries here are either large and touristy (walks ins accepted) or small and exclusive (requiring appointments) .

I highly recommend going to smaller boutique wineries with your dogs for a more relaxed wine tasting experience (see my post below for planning) . Since reopening in 2020, almost all wine tasting is by appointment only and reservations can easily be made online, over phone or via email.

Are dogs allowed on Napa winery tours?

Several wineries may offer conducted tours of their facilities and vineyards for an additional fee. In case you are planning to join one, please confirm if dogs are allowed there as well. Unless you specifically have a service dog (who are allowed everywhere), most tours are off-limits to dogs.

Does Hall Winery allow dogs?

The St. Helena location allows dogs for outdoor tasting (see below for our experience). The Rutherford location does not allow dogs.

What kind of wine will you get to taste in Napa?

Napa is known for its bold, red wines which are mostly Cabarnets. If you are not into full bodied wines, choose Sonoma or Lodi , both of which boast of many beautiful dog friendly wineries.

What is the average cost of a wine tasting in Napa?

Unlike other wine growing regions in California such as Carmel Valley , Lodi or Sonoma or Santa Ynez valley , wine tasting in Napa costs a pretty penny . The tasting fees starts upwards of 25 USD and can hike up to 100 USD, depending on the winery and the flight of wines selected. Of course, several wineries waive the tasting fee or provide a discount on purchase of one or more bottles of wine or if you are a wine club member.

Is downtown Napa dog friendly?

Yes, downtown Napa is dog friendly. There are many restaurants (Gott’s Roadside and Napa General Store) welcoming dogs. Tasting rooms like Trahan winery welcome dogs too. You cannot enter Oxbow market with dogs but can sit outside on their shaded patio to eat once you order your food.

THE BEST DOG FRIENDLY NAPA VALLEY WINERIES

Here are some of the best Napa wineries that welcome dogs based on my wine tasting experiences with Babu, our Tibetan Spaniel mix and Gunda, our Terrier mix who have been all over California . Please enjoy responsibly!

DOG FRIENDLY WINERIES IN NAPA

The city of Napa is filled with many dog friendly hotels, wineries and restaurants welcoming dogs. The famous Oxbow market is also in Napa which is home to many eateries, stalls and kiosks featuring Northern California goods and produce. Here are some of our favorite places to go wine tasting during a weekend trip to Napa with our dog.

Black Stallion Winery

This dog friendly Napa winery is an estate winery that overlooks acres of land that once housed famous race horses (which is why the name). In its modern avatar, it is now home to some of the best cabernets in Napa Valley.

At Black Stallion, you are greeted with a spacious tasting room and a sprawling shaded patio that overlooks the estate vineyards. Here, visitors can relax on deep cushioned patio seats as they savor both red and white varietals with some delicious charcuterie pairing. This dog friendly winery welcomes well behaved dogs on leash and is perfect for first time dog parents visiting Napa.

Chimney Rock winery

Chimney Rock winery is one of the most beautiful wine tasting venues in Napa , boasting of a Spanish Mission style majestic white building towering over rows and rows of vineyards. The winery specializes in some of the best handcrafted cabernet sauvignons from the heart of Napa’s Stag’s Leap district.

Wine tasting with your dogs at Chimney Rock is a relaxing affair in a shaded, centrally located patio at your own assigned, individual table. Although pricey, I highly recommend checking this place out for the ambiance and the friendly service.

DOG FRIENDLY WINERIES IN ST. HELENA AND YOUNTVILLE

Both St. Helena and Yountville are known all over the world as luxury destinations for not only some of the best wineries but fine dining since they are home to 3 Michelin star restaurants such as Restaurant at Meadowood (an unfortunate casualty of the devastating California Glass fire from 2020) and Thomas Keller’s French Laundry . Here are some of the wineries welcoming dogs in these two towns.

 Tres Sabores winery

Tucked away in one end of South Whitehall lane in St. Helena, this women owned and operated winery is one of the most beautiful dog friendly wineries in Napa with a zen tasting experience unmatched by any other winery in the valley. This winery loves dogs and sustainable practices alike and is a certified organic business with 12 acres of vineyards growing mostly zinfandel grapes and some cab.

All wine tasting is in their beautiful outdoor garden overlooking the vineyard where you’ll be surrounded by olive groves, lemon and pomegranate trees. Owing to their attention to detail and personalized service, the tastings are times and reservations are required. They are also incredibly dog friendly, with the owners and assistant winemaker’s dogs (one Labrador and two very friendly Golden Retrievers) roaming the property casually.

As of 2021, their tastings of 6 (mix of white and red estate wines-cabs, zinfandel and a very unique varietal that tastes almost like a Pinot Noir) cost $50. A single tasting fee is waived when you purchase 4 bottles. They also have snacks to go along with their tasting and you can also purchase small bites (charcuterie and cheese board) if you wish. Plus, they allow tasting friendly lunches onsite.

Hall winery

Hall winery is a beautiful dog friendly winery in St. Helena that is very popular with wine enthusiasts and provides an unique wine tasting experience.

Wine tasting is outdoors with the tasting area adjacent to a lush, green lawn punctuated with some really cool and funky sculptures overlooking the adjoining vineyard (you can spot some of their sculptures at the entrance of the winery as well). This winery specializes in Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlots, which is what Napa is mostly famous for.

Clif Family Winery

If you’re thinking that this winery is somehow connected to Clif energy bars, then you’re 100% correct.

Owned by the Clif family, this small batch boutique winery not only makes wine but also a ton of other artisan food products such as jams, jellies, snacks and even pet treats, with the produce sourced from their farm near Howell Mountain. Clif Family farms 90 acres of CCOF and Napa Green Certified estate vineyards in the Howell Mountain and Oak Knoll District AVA’s of the Napa Valley with winemaker Laura Barrett at the helm of affairs.

This dog friendly tasting room at Clif Family has one unique feature and that is their very own food truck, which is very rare in Napa. They’ve had this bruschetteria on wheels since 2008 and every Wednesday it has a rotating selection of street food from all across the world. You can easily order from the food truck and enjoy the order in their outdoor dog friendly patio.

We visited Clif Family winery during my birthday in June and I went for the seasonal wine tasting that comes with a 3 cheese pairing which was just heavenly. If you wish to buy their Chardonnay, they sell it only in this tasting room location. I highly recommend visiting this winery for tasting and lunch if you’re in St. Helena.

Markham vineyards

This winery in St. Helena not only has a cosy fireplace for wine tasting but also a spectacular gallery for people to enjoy.  Markham offers diverse varietals in both red and white sourced from the various appellations all over Napa. I especially enjoyed their Moscato and Petite Sirah.

Currently, patio reservations for wine tasting is available from Friday-Sunday (see their visit page for info). After a long hiatus, Markham has become dog friendly again! Read their dog policy here .

Jessup Cellars

This is not a winery per se, but more of a tasting room in downtown Yountville that also doubles up as an art gallery ( wine tasting is outdoors) . However, the best part about wine tasting with your dog at this boutique place is the exceptionally friendly staff that will make your tasting experience extremely memorable. This is the reason why this place is widely known as the “friendliest tasting room in Napa valley”.

I highly recommend getting the local cheese platter (sourced from JCB tasting salon nearby) that pairs extremely well with their wines, especially their chardonnay which is the crispiest I’ve ever tasted! Honestly, this is one of the best places to go for dog friendly wine tasting in Napa.

DOG FRIENDLY WINERIES IN CALISTOGA

Calistoga is an extremely dog friendly town in Napa , and sits at the northernmost end of the valley, in the shadows of Mt. St. Helena that used to be an active volcano millions of years ago. Besides wine tasting, this is also a perfect winter getaway in California owing to its many geothermal spas for some much needed R&R. We’ve visited Calistoga many times with our dogs and some of our favorite dog friendly wineries in Napa valley are located here.

Dutch Henry winery

This secluded, super dog friendly Napa winery (you will be greeted with a cheery yellow stop sign featuring an airedale as you drive in) is a must visited and should be included in your dog friendly Napa itinerary.

Dutch Henry winery is located on the historic Silverado trail in and is famous for its small batch handcrafted wines crafted by owner and winemaker Scott Chafen.  Wine tasting fee is waived in lieu of purchasing a bottle, but best of all this is one of the few wineries in Napa where no prior appointment is necessary for wine tasting.

This winery not only has a shaded outdoor picnic area for wine tasting but also its very own vineyards surrounding the tasting room. I highly recommend visiting Dutch Henry for a quiet and relaxing wine tasting experience with your pup minus the crowds.

Notes for 2020-2021: DH winery was badly affected by the California Glass fire in 2020 and is currently taking a break. It is supposed to reopen in 2021 and tasting is by appointment only, so please don’t forget to make that reservation

Clos Pegase Winery

This high end winery in Calistoga is one of the premier dog friendly wineries in Napa and one of the most beautiful wineries that I have personally visited . Although wine tasting here costs upwards of $40 , the tasting room is bright, airy and has an understated elegance to it. Plus the staff is extremely friendly and will readily answer all your burning questions on wine during the tasting along with a handy map showing the different appellations in Napa.

The estate surrounding the tasting room is simply breathtaking and you must take a stroll here while sipping on your precious wine. In case you’re feeling self-indulgent, Clos Pegase is a great place to check out for some luxury wine tasting experience with your dog in Napa.

Bennett Lane Winery

If you’re looking for a dog friendly Calistoga winery that is charming and won’t break the bank for tasting, then head straight to Bennett Lane Winery which boasts of having the friendliest tasting room in all of Napa (it actually is!). You and your pup will be seated in a dog friendly lawn for tasting. Their signature tasting is $25 (2022 price) and waived with a three bottle purchase.

Bennett Lane is home to many 90+ pointer wines and I loved tasting their 2021 Reserve Chardonnay (perfect for a hot day), 2015 Maximus (blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Syrah and 7% Merlot), 2017 Petite Sirah and 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon. This is definitely one of the best budget dog friendly wineries in Napa.

Tamber Bey Winery

This former horse ranch turned tasting room is one of the most unique dog friendly wineries in Napa Valley (and pretty expensive too). Once you enter the distinctive red building surrounded by acres of land and pass through the beautiful tasting room, you will step into a shaded courtyard for your wine tasting. Dogs must be on leash at all times and they are not allowed to pee on the courtyard. There is a separate pet relief area which is next to the picnic area on the front end of the winery for them to go.

At Tamber Bey , your tasting fee (which is waived if you buy 6 bottles) is $60 (2022 prices). You will get a pour of 5 wines (2 whites, 1 rosé and 2 reds), out of which my favorite was hands down the rose of GSM blend (I’ve always had rosés of Pinot Noir or Gamay and was pleasantly surprised at the subtle notes of this one).

One fun fact about the winery is that they do not have any vineyards on the property-this is because they are right next to the old Faithful geyser on Tubbs lane (a unique dog friendly attraction in Calistoga) due to which there is a lot of sulphur in the soil that can affect the wine.

The tasting room courtyard is filled with photos of the owners who are into competitive horse racing and got into wine making in the 90s. You can also explore the courtyard during your tasting and if you do, be sure to say hi to two retired Arabian Mares resting in their stables!

Brian Arden Winery

This winery on the Silverado trail is one of the newest in Napa and opened in 2015. The winery itself is arresting in its architectural features and is made of stone and glass. Dog friendly wine tasting happens in the shaded outdoor lawn with lots of comfortable seating overlooking their vineyard where they grow zinfandel grapes. The tasting fee is $45 and I highly recommend the chef’s charcuterie board to go with the wine.

Castello di Amorosa (aka “The Castle”)

Calistoga is home to the grandest winery in Napa Valley , which is a full fledged medieval style Tuscan castle built by Dario Sattui (his great grandfather Vittorio Sattui founded V. Sattui Winery in 1885 in San Francisco that is now one of the most popular wineries in Napa Valley).

You need to make reservations for even entering the castle for either a tasting or a tour (tasting is optional if you reserve a tour). Good news is that the winery welcomes dogs and you can explore the castle on your own after you are done with the tasting.

Everything inside the castle is simply grand and eye-poppingly beautiful. The wine tasting room at Castello di Amorosa is filled with barrels  with magnificent Italian frescoes and paintings adorning the walls. You get a pour of five of their signature wines and you can pair it with local chocolates like we did.

As you wander through the castle on your self guided tour, you will see the incredible Great Hall, the Courtyard, the Chapel and the upper Loggia-all of which are accessible on a self guided tour (a reserved guided tour takes you to several other parts of the castle that are not accessible on a self guided walk). Don’t forget to make your way up to the terrace for panoramic views of Napa Valley and Mount St. Helena.

The Castle grounds are beautiful too with lush vineyards all around and an animal enclosure with goats and an emu casually strolling around. If you’re visiting Calistoga with your dog, I cannot recommend this lavish wine tasting experience in Napa enough! Make your reservations here .

DOG FRIENDLY RESTAURANTS IN NAPA VALLEY

Wine tasting is hard work that needs to be rewarded with some lip-smacking food! Napa, being one of the premier culinary destinations in California has some of the best dog friendly restaurants with patio dining for you to have a delicious meal with your pup. Over my half a dozen visits mostly with my pups Babu and Gunda , here are my recommendations:

La Calenda (Yountville) : the Oaxaca inspired restaurant helmed by executive chef Kaelin Ulrich Trilling, son of Susana Trilling, who is considered an authority on Oaxacan cuisine will not only wow you with moles and mezcal, but also a sunny patio.

Coqueta (Yountville) : This Spanish restaurant serving up tasty dishes and Tapas (their original outpost is in San Francisco’s Embarcadero) has a shaded outdoor seating area.

Mango on Main : This tiny Thai restaurant in downtown Napa is big and bold on flavors and has a few chairs and tables outside for a dog friendly meal

Gott’s Roadside (St. Helena and Napa) : This insanely popular joint has multiple locations in the Bay Area and is known for its burgers, salads, sandwiches and tacos.

The Grove (Napa): The Grove is the in-house restaurant of the Culinary Institute of America (The CIA at Copia). They have a lovely outdoor seating area as well for you to enjoy delicious Mediterranean inspired cuisine with your pup.

Farmstead (St. Helena): This is another dog friendly restaurant in Napa which has a bustling outdoor patio equipped with heaters. Their deviled eggs are delicious and a must have. I highly recommend dog parents going there for lunch or dinner.

Solbar (Calistoga): This restaurant of the famous hospitality group Solage is extremely dog-friendly with a giant patio and a great place to include in your Napa itinerary for lunch or dinner. The food is top notch Californian-American with hints of Asian influence (think of lamb gyros with a twist or sweet potato chapatis) and all ingredients are locally sourced. Solbar is part of the Solage Hotel which is a dog friendly luxury hotel in Napa.

Calistoga Inn & Brewery (Calistoga): is a dog friendly Napa restaurant has a lively and spacious outdoor seating where well behaved dogs are welcome. The food is essentially Californian American with seasonal ingredients.

Lovina (Calistoga): this super popular restaurant in downtown Calistoga has some of the yummiest food that you can enjoy in a leafy courtyard. Vegetarians will love this place since there are many plant based dishes on the menu.

FARM at Carneros Resort and Spa (Carneros):  It may cost you an arm and a leg to stay at this famous luxury hotel in Napa, but you can definitely indulge in a little bit and dine at FARM which is one of their three dining spots that also welcomes dogs in their covered outdoor space. The food is sourced from local ingredients and they have a very impressive wine list.

DOG FRIENDLY HOTELS AND LODGING IN NAPA VALLEY

Although Napa valley makes for a great day trip from San Francisco , I highly recommend staying here for a weekend (if your budget allows) to make the best of what this region has to offer, which is honestly A LOT.

Napa can be a very expensive place to stay and the choices of dog friendly hotels in Napa are limited (but you can always scout out some dog friendly Airbnbs ). Having been to Napa several times with Babu, here are my recommendations based on where we stayed during our dog friendly wine tasting in Napa:

Bear Flag Inn

Bear Flag Inn   is one of the best dog friendly B&Bs in Calistoga with the owners Dennis and Marjorie being major pet lovers as well and parents to two dogs and a cat! The cottages spread across acres of greenery for your dog to run around and best of all, dogs are welcome here at no extra cost.

Besides hot breakfast in the morning, they also have wine and snacks to enjoy in the evening with the wine coming from the grapes in the vineyard facing the inn. This is one of the best places to stay in Napa with your dog, as attested by a five star rating on BringFido.com

Enchanted Cottage

Looking for a relaxing getaway in Napa with your dog? Then choose the Enchanted cottage , another charming B&B in Calistoga that is both kid and pet friendly! You will be greeted with a basket of simple, yet hearty continental breakfast outside your door every morning during your stay. The cottage itself is spacious and comes with a fireplace that adds to its vintage charm!

Hotel Napa Valley

Hotel Napa Valley is a pet friendly inn near downtown Napa was our most recent stay (2020) when visiting Napa with Babu. Here, not only do you get a spacious room, but the bathroom (complete with a fancy clawfoot Victorian tub) is humongous!  The complimentary handmade treats in the evening are a nice touch as is the free internet. Remember to call and confirm the availability of pet friendly rooms prior to making an online reservation.

Notes for 2020-2021: Pet policy, breakfast and happy hour arrangements might be different during these unprecedented times. Please confirm everything with the innkeeper/hotel manager prior to booking your stay.

Calistoga Motor Lodge

Calistoga Motor Lodge located at the very end of downtown Calistoga,  is a fun, roadside boutique hotel with pet friendly rooms. The rooms are inspired by the Great American road trip and dogs are welcome in the smaller Camper rooms. You can take a swim in one of their 3 geothermal mineral pools, play bocce ball or corn hole on their lawn or get pampered at the Moon Acre spa.

The lodge is very conveniently located near the scenic Silverado trail as well as the Oat Hill Mine trailhead, which is a dog friendly hiking trail. Parking is free and they also have in house dining at Fleetwood offering Mediterranean wood fired cuisine. If you’re visiting Calistoga and want to stay close to downtown, I highly recommend this dog friendly hotel.

It’s great that you were able to find so many wineries in this area that are dog friendly! I like to take my dog with me when I’m able to.

The Laura Michael Winery says that they regret, but no dogs can visit. Stated on the opening page of their website. (May 2021)

Thank you Bianca for letting me know. I have updated my post with this info.

We appreciate your kind review and are so pleased to hear that you had such an enjoyable experience when you visited us at Darioush.

Please do be aware, we have introduced a food-pairing component to all of our tasting experiences and can no longer allow dogs on the premise (besides bona-fide service dogs).

Thank you again, we are at your service should you have any questions or concerns about this policy.

Best, Alison Wagner Sales + Marketing Administrative Assistant; Darioush Winery

Thank you Alison, I will update my blog!

15 Buzz-worthy Dog-Friendly Wineries in the U.S. to Visit With Your Pup

Sit, stay, and savor your wine with your canine best friend by your side.

Beth Ann Mayer has been a freelance writer specializing in family and physical and mental health for nearly a decade. A broadcast journalism major at Syracuse University, Beth Ann initially started her career as a sports media relations professional at Stony Brook University in New York. She also has a master's degree in sport management from Ithaca College and has previously written for Parents.com, Healthline.com, and  Inside Lacrosse . When she's not wrangling her husband, two sons, and three pets, you can find Beth Ann training for marathons or eagerly awaiting the next Cody Rigsby Peloton ride.

Your dog is more than a pet. Pups are beloved family members and it's natural to want to include them in our favorite activities ... including wine tasting!

Many vineyards invite guests to sniff and sip wine while savoring a day with their pet, too. If you want to visit a dog-friendly winery, there are a few things you'll want to keep in mind. Here are some notes on what you need to know before you go to some of the nation's best dog-friendly wineries and vineyards.

What to Do Before You Take Your Dog to a Winery

Visiting a winery is likely new territory for your pup. You'll want to add a these tasks to your pre-trip to-do list.

  • Brush up on basic training. At least six to eight weeks in advance, practice some basic skills to ensure your dog has a safe and fun trip. Joan Hunter Mayer, a certified professional dog trainer and founder of The Inquisitive Canine suggests, teaching your dog cues like down , sit , stay , and how to leave things alone when they're dropped on the ground.
  • Have a dress rehearsal. A winery is going to feel different from home. Mayer recommends doing a practice run by inviting friends over and seeing how your dog reacts, then graduating to a nearby dog-friendly restaurant that allows pets on the patio.
  • Call ahead to ask if the winery is dog-friendly . Policies are constantly changing, so before you load up your pup in the car, just double check to make sure you can being them along.

Pet Safety Tips at the Winery

Even the best dog-friendly wineries may pose safety hazards for your canine best friend. Here's how to keep them happy and healthy.

  • Watch what they eat . Grapes and raisins are toxic for dogs and any alcohol, wine included, can also make your pup severely ill.
  • BYOT, BYOW. Since your dog can't have what you're having, Elizabeth Schneider, an author, host of the podcast "Wine for Normal People," and dog mom says it's best to bring food and beverages for them. "Don't rely on these dog-friendly wineries to have water and treats," she says.
  • Know your dog's limits . If your fur baby seems tired or cranky, it may be time to pack it in early. Also understand that some dogs will just not enjoy a crowded winery environment, and that's OK! There are a ton of other fun, safe outdoor activities pups and their parents can do together (and the winery will still be there another day after you find a good a pet sitter ).
  • Be respectful . Sometimes, things don't go according to plan. Schneider says the safest thing to do is to be respectful of any requests the winery staff makes. "It's the staff's prerogative," she says. And not being respectful could ruin the fun for other dogs in the future.

Best East Coast Dog-Friendly Wineries

Some like to say, "West coast, best coast" for wine, but east coast wines have a character all their own. Don't believe us? Taste for yourself—with your pup—at these wineries that allow dogs.

Lamoreaux Landing Wine Cellars of Lodi, N.Y.

Schneider recommends this New York spot , one of a few Finger Lakes wineries that are dog-friendly. The rieslings inside are rivaled only by the gorgeous views of Seneca Lake on the outside. Your pup is welcome to peer out onto the sprawling vineyard and waterfront right alongside you. Set on more than 100 acres, there's plenty of space to sit back and relax with your pup.

Working Dog Winery in Hightstown, N.J.

New York often gets a lot of the credit for east coast wine. But neighboring New Jersey has some muscles to flex, too. The appropriately-named Working Dog Winery in New Jersey is a small but mighty vineyard situated on 17 acres. The winery doesn't just have dogs on its label. It welcomes pups to roll around on the lawn portion of the property (on a leash) while the humans toast to their four-legged companions.

Best West Coast Dog-Friendly Wineries

Napa Cabernet Sauvignons are bold and fruit-forward, and Sonoma's chill vibes and Pinot Noir hit all the right notes. The possibilities for west coast wine tasting with your pet are endless. Allow us to help you narrow your choices.

Longboard in Healdsburg, Calif.

The recommendation for Longboard Vineyards one of several dog-friendly wineries Sonoma is home to, comes from Schneider. People say it's a hidden gem that not only boasts creative wines but first-class service, the latter of which both humans and pups lap up. You may even catch glimpse of Fog, the adorable vineyard dog.

Frog's Leap in Napa, Calif.

Schneider says dog-friendly wineries in Napa are harder to come by than those in Sonoma, but Frog's Leap is her pick for this area. Despite its wide distribution throughout the country, the vineyard manages to maintain an intimate feel. Stepping into the outdoor area feels like entering a Zen garden. It's in full bloom in spring and summer, providing a scenic backdrop.

Tablas Creek in Paso Robles, Calif.

Pets are permitted outdoors at Tablas Creek , a favorite spot dog-friendly winery in Paso Robles. The patio is shaded, providing protection from the elements on a warm afternoon. And environmentally-conscious animal lovers may especially appreciate this place. While there, you can learn how a herd of free-roaming sheep and alpacas plays a role in keeping the vineyard soil healthy.

Best Great Lakes Region Dog-Friendly Wineries

This under-the-radar wine region includes Michigan, Ohio, and parts of New York. It gets an assist from the surrounding lakes, which retain heat and aid in protecting vines even during the colder months. And some wineries that allow dogs get an extra star from pet parents for their Fido-friendly policies.

Left Foot Charley in Traverse City, Mich.

When it comes to dog-friendly wineries in Traverse City, Left Foot Charley is a go-to. The vineyard boasts something for multiple types of imbibers, as it not only serves red, white, and sparkling wines, but ciders as well. Pups can sip water outside.

Fox Run Vineyards in Penn Yan, N.Y.

While several wineries are dog-friendly outside, Fox Run also welcomes dogs inside at the main tasting bar. (On a nice day, a seat outside on the patio or lawn is highly recommended, though, if only for the fresh air and sprawling vineyard views). While your dog indulges in whatever goodies you brought, there's also the option to treat your pup to a fancy house-made Bark-Chew-terie board made with delicious dog-safe snacks like a peanut butter pumpkin ball and apple slices .

The Midwest may be better known for its humid summers, cold winters, and amiable locals than its wine. But these dog-friendly wineries are proving that Midwestern vino is a hidden gem for pet parents.

Chandler Hill Vineyard in Defiance, Mo.

When Chandler Hill Vineyard says it's family-friendly, that means dogs are welcome, too. Dogs can chill on the back deck and in the vineyards with their oenophile parents. The gorgeous views include a pond and acres of vines. Rosé is among the favorite wines to try.

Galena Cellars Vineyard & Winery in Galena, Ill.

This laidback vineyard loves dogs so much, it includes a photo of one on their website. What's more, Galena Cellars Vineyard & Winery is one of a few vineyards that doesn't prohibit guests from bringing in outside food. Consider packing a picnic full of your favorite foods, dog treats, and water (outside beverages aren't allowed for humans). But the vineyard produces a special jalapeño wine that Bloody Mary lovers adore and a sangria that hits the spot on a summer day.

Best Dog Friendly Wineries in the South

The Southern part of the U.S. is typically lauded for its sweet tea. But quality local wine is on the menu, too. Bask in all the southern comforts at a couple of dog-friendly wineries.

Augusta Vin in Fredericksburg, Texas

They say everything is bigger in Texas, and the views, wine, and love of wine at Augusta Vin certainly fit that bill. The covered outdoor deck provides shade from the summer heat and gives way to sprawling vineyard views. As for the wines, the silky, elegant Augusta Vin Estate Aglianico pairs perfectly with Italian fare, while the Latitude 45 is an easy sipper.

Engelheim Vineyards in Ellijay, Ga.

Does Engelheim Vineyards allow dogs? The vineyard gives an enthusiastic yes. "We love your furry four-legged friends," reads the website of the dog-friendly north Georgia winery. Perhaps the only thing sweeter than the service at Engelheim is the 2020 Sweet Molly wine. The fruit-forward sipper balances out spicy dishes.

Best Southwestern Dog Friendly Wineries

Tex-Mex fare and gorgeous desert landscapes give the Southwest region a special charm. And so do these beautiful wineries you can enjoy with your canine companion.

Enchantment Vineyards in Portales, N.M.

This Southwest vineyard loves sharing southwestern hospitality with guests and their dogs and vinos inspired by the region with you. In addition to the wine, Enchantment Vineyards ' guests also rave about the cider and beer the vineyard provides, as well as the menu that includes cheat-day favorites like sausage sliders and pretzel rolls. And apparently, the dogs are barking—happily—about the large grassy area.

Oak Creek Vineyards & Winery in Cornville, Ariz.

Oak Creek Vineyards & Winery invites dogs to sit on the patio, allowing pet parents to truly plan a family outing. Bottles and glasses are available for purchase and ideal for sitting, sipping, and staying a while. If you get hungry, the vineyard kitchen can fix you a cheese plate, hummus, or even a cheesecake.

Best Rocky Mountain Region Dog Friendly Wineries

After hiking, heading out for an afternoon of wine tasting with your pup is the perfect way to wrap up a trip to the Rocky Mountain region. Plan to pull up a chair at one of these two spots.

Carlson Vineyards in Palisade, Colo.

The vineyard cats have a starring role on Carlson Vineyards ' Instagram feed, but the staff has a soft spot for your canine friends, too. Dogs are allowed to accompany their humans to this winery in Palisade, a town in Colorado known for both its vineyards and peach farms. Guests can get the best of both worlds by sampling a peach wine that's known for being bright and sweet. Other creative wines include a cherry and chocolate and cherry wine (just keep those out of the pups' reach!).

Telaya Wine Co. in Garden City, Idaho

Carrie Sullivan, a co-owner and winemaker at Telaya , actually used to be a veterinarian. These days, she uses her passion for science to create award-winning wines like the Syrah, which won Best Red Wine at the 2021 Idaho Wine Competition. But she hasn't forgotten her true roots as an animal lover, and pups are allowed to sit with their humans at the winery. There are also multiple dogs on staff, including Donut the accountant and Cookie the bean counter.

Visiting a Napa Valley winery is always a good time, but it’s an even better time when your trusty companion is by your side (or, at least at your feet). These days, a lot of people enjoy traveling to Wine Country with their pets, even if the destination is only an afternoon at a winery. That’s why we sniffed out these dog-friendly wineries in Napa Valley, where your pampered pet is allowed to join in the wine tasting festivities.

It’s important to note that at most pet-friendly wineries, your dog will need to remain leashed and won’t be allowed in the tasting room, wine cave, or cellar. However, as long as Fifi or Fido is well-behaved and considerate (no barking at other guests or dogs, please), these Napa wineries happily welcome you and your faithful four-legged friend to enjoy a taste of the good life, and maybe even a biscuit or two.

Where to Enjoy Pet-friendly Wine Tastings in Napa Valley

Tamber bey vineyards.

Tamber Bey Vineyards

You and your dog will both enjoy saddling up to the picturesque Tamber Bey Vineyards located at Sundance Ranch in Calistoga, home to the largest horse facility in Napa Valley. While there, not only will you be able to sip Bordeaux-style blends and premium single-vineyard estate wines, but you can say hello to the horses, both high-performance Arabians, as well as some that have been rescued from abuse and neglect. Your dog will love it because there’s lots of outdoor space and even a dog park. Plus, they will get plenty of water and tasty food. Feeling left out? Don’t. At Tamber Bey you have the option of adding a cookie pairing to your tasting. Bone appetit!

Napa Cellars

Napa Cellars

Pine Ridge Vineyards , known for its elegant Cabernet Sauvignon wines, offers traditional tastings, but if you’re bringing your pup, “Bottle Service and Picnic in the Garden” is a great option. Your group will have a dedicated seating area in the estate gardens where you can pour your own wine and relax. Your dog (who must be leashed and well-behaved) will be happy to have a shady spot in the grass and will get a bowl of water, upon request (and perhaps a belly scratch as well).

Migration Wines in Napa Valley, CA

Migration ‘s idyllic winery and tasting room in Carneros is an airy, relaxed place to taste the winery’s Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Sparkling wines. While guests must be 21 to visit, that isn’t the case for your four-legged companions, who are welcome to tag along with you for outdoor tastings. In addition to tasting flights for the adults, Migration offers Barkuterie boards for doggie guests. The plate includes a Migration biscuit, duck sausages, and other treats. All you have to do is ask your host to add it to your tasting!

1451 Stanly Lane, Napa, CA 94559, (707) 415-2298

Trefethen Family Vineyards

Trefethen Winery

The family-owned and operated Trefethen is the only 19th-century wooden three-level, gravity-flow winery still surviving in Napa Valley. While your pup may not be interested in winemaking processes, learning about how gravity-flow production uses gravity to move wine around more gently than if pumps and other machines are involved, he will at least be happy that he is allowed to accompany you while you taste through the “essentials,” small lots,” “all reds,” or “seasonal” flights, so long as he stays on leash.

1160 Oak Knoll Avenue, Napa, CA 94558, (707) 255-7700

Hall Wines

If your dog goes nuts when he sees rabbits, shield his eyes from the “HALLmark” giant Bunny Foo-Foo sculpture at the entrance of this St. Helena winery in Napa Valley, known for its Cabernet Sauvignons, Merlots, Sauvignon Blancs, and contemporary art pieces spread across the property. Dogs aren’t allowed inside the buildings at HALL , which means not all tours and tastings are possible, but you can enjoy tastings outside on the patio, as well as hang out and relax on the Great Lawn. (While HALL is dog-friendly, please note that dogs are only allowed at the St. Helena location, not the Rutherford location.)

401 St. Helena Highway South, St. Helena, CA 94574, (707) 967-2626

Tres Sabores Winery

Tres Sabores Winery

When you arrive at this family-owned and women-led winery in St. Helena, you and your pup will be greeted by a fluffy, four-legged welcoming committee of three friendly Golden Retrievers: Cava, Bouzy Rouge, and Brilla. If you’re lucky, the newest addition to the Tres Sabores Winery , Fi-Fi, will also join the party. After you’ve told everyone what good girls and boys they are, you can enjoy a tasting of Tres Sabores’ Zinfandels, Cabernet Sauvignons, and Petite Sirahs, while your dog (who should be on a leash) enjoys fresh water, treats, and pets. All tastings are intimate and hands-on and require an appointment. (And kids can come along, as well.)

1620 S. Whitehall Lane, St. Helena, CA 94574, (707) 967-8027

Honig Vineyard & Winery

Honig

The folks at Honig say, “We’re dog friendly as long as your dog is friendly” — a fair trade, indeed. As far as wine tasting goes, this family-owned Napa winery focuses solely on its (very popular) Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon, but is also committed to environmentally sound practices, which makes a visit not only unique but educational. Your leashed dog may even learn a thing or two as the winegrowers at Honig use golden retriever “sniffer dogs” to detect vine mealybugs, which are nearly invisible to the naked eye but can do major damage to a vineyard.

850 Rutherford Road, Rutherford, CA 94573, (707) 963-4272

Frog’s Leap Winery

Frogs Leap Winery

Chimney Rock is one of just a few wineries that produces all Stags Leap District estate-grown Cabernets, which is why it’s a must-visit if you like Cabernet Sauvignon. While you’re sitting on the shaded patio and sipping your way through those richly textured wines, your (leashed) dog can take a nap or rehydrate (dog bowls with water are provided). Want to explore the property full of stunning South African architecture or go inside the tasting room? Your pooch is welcome there as well. Even your kids can join this Napa excursion; just be sure to include them all in your reservation.

7 Tips for Visiting Dog-Friendly Wineries with your Dog

Visiting a dog-friendly winery isn’t always as simple as rocking up at the cellar door with your pup by your side. There’s a number of things to consider first. Additionally, in Australia, there’s been a shift in the experience of visiting wineries in recent years. Read on to find out about how to best enjoy visiting dog-friendly wineries in Australia with your dog.

Visiting Dog-Friendly Wineries

#1 Double Check the Winery is Dog-Friendly

Before heading to a winery, first find out whether it is dog-friendly. The rules regarding visiting wineries with a dog vary greatly.

While many wineries allow dogs to join you at their cellar door, there are some wineries that don’t allow dogs at all, for various reasons.

And when it comes to wineries that allow dogs, the policies vary greatly. Most wineries only allow dogs outside, including outdoor tasting areas, but some wineries also allow dogs inside. Check the winery’s website or enquire directly.

#2 Check if a Reservation is Required

When I first started visiting wineries in Australia, it was common to just turn up at the cellar door during opening hours and taste their range. However, this is increasingly not the case.

A growing number of wineries in Australia prefer that you make a reservation first. This is often the case if you want to visit mid-week when the cellar door is quieter, but as likely to be required during busy weekend periods.

When making a reservation, mention that you are bringing a dog along. Some wineries have an option to tick this on the booking form, otherwise include under special requests.

#3 Find Out the Tasting Fee

Another change when visiting Australian wineries in recent year is the introduction of a tasting fee. While in the past tasting was generally free, but most visitors bought bottles of wine, this is no longer the case.

The majority of wineries change a tasting fee of between $10-15, although sometimes this can be higher. Some wineries offer multiple tasting options, including premium packages.

Wine Tasting at Logan

Some wineries will credit this tasting fee towards purchases at the cellar door, but not all wineries – after all, it’s quite reasonable for a charge to cover the wine poured and the time spent taking you through their range.

#4 Look After Your Dog

When visiting pet-friendly wineries with your dog, make sure that you look after your dog. Don’t get too distracted by the wine tasting, even if it’s not your first for the day!

Keep your dog on a leash and by your side, and make sure your dog doesn’t disturb other visitors or be a nuisance. Bad behaviour is likely to result in dogs no longer being welcome.

#5 Wineries Have Dogs, Too

Many wineries have their own dogs, generally known as wine dogs or winery dogs – definitely a fabulous lifestyle if you’re a dog! They may be mentioned on the winery website, or be regulars on their social media account.

Meeting a winery dog

Be considerate towards winery dogs if visiting with your own dog. If your own dog is not sociable or reactive towards other dogs, reconsider bringing along your dog, especially as many winery dogs are off-leash. Plus make sure your own dog is vaccinated and follows the rules.

#6 Buy Some Wine

The best part about visiting wineries, with or without your dog, is the chance to buy some fabulous wine, that you’ve already had the chance to taste, often that’s not available elsewhere.

Even if you aren’t a regular wine drinker, it’s always courteous to buy a bottle or two. Although the present situation with tasting fees may alleviate the guilt if you decide not to.

#7 Consider a Dog-Friendly Winery Tour

To remove the complications from visiting wineries with your dog, consider taking a dog-friendly winery tour. They’ll know in advance what wineries are dog-friendly and their rules. Sometimes they’ll even help with looking after your dog when you become distracted.

Many wine lovers like to travel with their dogs, and we can’t blame them a bit! So we thought we’d put together a list of dog friendly wineries on Seneca Lake to help you better plan your trip. We have a high concentration of wineries who welcome dogs, perhaps the most dog friendly vineyards in the Finger Lakes? O ur wineries are just waiting to welcome you and your four-legged friend(s)!

A Dog Park at a Winery? Yup! We’ve got that!

Rolling out the red carpet for fido and friends.

Boundary Breaks , on the east side of Seneca Lake, is the only Finger Lakes winery with a dedicated, fenced-in dog park, where dogs are welcome to run off-leash. How cool is that?!

Many of their employees have dogs and they encourage them to bring them to work – what a vibe, right?! They also have a large tent in the area for shade for both dogs and their owners. Plenty of space to enjoy a flight with some cheese and charcuterie. And those views of Seneca Lake – simply stunning.

Having a dog park really takes the idea of being dog friendly on Seneca Lake to the next level!

Wineries Give Back to Dog Shelters and Rescues

Some brands have spokespeople, glenora has spokespups.

At Glenora Wine Cellars , about 15 minutes north of Watkins Glen on the east side of Seneca Lake, they love dogs. In fact, they have an entire series of wine dedicated to raising funds for local animal charities. Their  SpokesPup series of wines  was produced in hopes that all dogs and cats can have a happily ever after. If that doesn’t tug on your heartstrings, we don’t know what will!

Fox Run Loves Dogs!

At Fox Run Vineyards , just a short drive south of Geneva, they view dogs as part of the family!  They offer Bo’s Bones treats for sampling and purchase. Their wine garden is dog friendly and if the weather isn’t cooperative, they welcome dogs in their historic barrel room. They also host an annual “Dogs and Dogs” event in June annually and they have Yates County Humane Society donation houses in their tasting room.

Lakewood Vineyards: Dogs, Dogs, and More Dogs!

Toast Winery: All Family Members Welcome!

At Toast Winery on the west side of Seneca Lake (and the newest Seneca Lake Wine Trail member), owners Mike and Jayne are dog friendly because they like to travel with their pups. They believe dogs are part of the family and want visitors to feel comfortable bringing their dogs along! They also have a donation box in the tasting room and they donate that moneyto a local animal shelter.

Bring Your Dogs to Laze While You Enjoy Wine

Leidenfrost vineyards: must love dogs.

At Leidenfrost Vineyards , about 15 minutes north of Watkins Glen on the east side of the lake, their laid-back tasting room is perfect for pups. They gladly welcome all well behaved canines with a bowl of fresh water and a biscuit! As team member Rowan adds, “We won’t lie about the selfish pup-snugglin’ reasons behind being animal friendly, we get a lot of joy out of meeting your fur-babies! It’s important to us that our winery is a welcoming space and having a dog sprawled out on the floor brings a special coziness into the tasting room.” They also have spacious grounds and outdoor seating, both perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine and soaking up the sunshine with your four-legged companions.

Low Key and Welcoming!

Other wineries that welcome dogs include J.R. Dill Winery where they boast a large lawn and have a water bowl and treats at the ready; Idol Ridge Winery with their amazing views and fun-loving staff; Fulkerson Winery where they give guests the freedom to tour around the farm at their leisure among 3 miles of trails, plus they have plenty of outdoor seating and water bowls to keep pups hydrated. Castel Grisch Winery also welcomes dogs with free dog treats and water bowls. At Wagner Vineyards , they welcome dogs outdoors on their expansive lawn. The 10 Best Pet Friendly Wineries in Napa Valley

  • Aug 30, 2019
  • By Rebekah Stoltz Weeman

When you visit Napa Valley, you don’t have to worry about finding a place to leave your fur baby. Napa Valley loves dogs. Find out the paw-fect wineries where doggies and their humans can be together!

I get it. Napa Valley gets it, too. Winemakers love dogs. You love your dogs. Our doggies really are important to us and many of us love to travel with our pets. I think it was Rodger Caras who said, “Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.” In Napa Valley most folks believe in that statement. While many do allow pets, there are still plenty that do not allow pets of any kind and limit access to certified service dogs only. There’s also many limitations to what parts of the properties and the experiences that you book, so when in doubt, call ahead and get prior permissions well before your arrival. Local ordinances typically ban any pets from attending events or experiences where there’s food service, so again, be sure to plan accordingly.

Because we know that you probably would like to take your pooch with you while you wine taste, we’ve put together a list of the best pet friendly wineries for you. Most wineries and tasting rooms have vineyard dogs of their own and are well prepared to host you and your four-legged family. And to give you a glimpse into the world of winery dogs, many of the wineries carry the best-selling book – Wine Dogs – in their gift shop. Be sure to check out the book as the pictures and stories are very entertaining (the book makes a nice gift, too).

Always remember while tasting at Napa Valley wineries with your pet to keep him or her on leash at all times. Also, be considerate of other guests at the winery. If your dog starts to bark at visitors, you should be respectful and find a way to redirect and calm your pet. Probably goes without saying, but with the summer heat in Napa Valley, it is never advised to leave your dog in the car. We hope that you will enjoy the read and find a few new places to visit while you are in town.

10. Tres Sabores located in the south part of St. Helena, is a winery that humans and four-legged friends will both fall in love with. Owner and winemaker, Julie Johnson, is a dog lover herself. If her winery dogs aren’t around when you visit (or come out to greet and tour with you), you can be sure that they are out of town. On most days, the sweetest pack of golden retrievers and labs will trot out and welcome you to the lovely Tres Sabores farm. The grounds are alive and vibrant with all the things you would expect to find on a rustic working farm. The attention and care that Julie and her team puts into caring of the vines, wine production and her home (she lives there) are second to none. You can feel the harmony of all things coming together in the overall vibe and look of the estate. Tucked into the rolling hills of the infamous Rutherford Bench soil, you would never guess that you are in one of the mostly widely-visited wine regions in the world. At Tres Sabores, you feel special and as if you are one of the lucky few who have discovered this extraordinary, untouched place. The wines are outstanding and hard to get anywhere but directly at the winery. Tres Sabores offers a Tour and Tasting ($50) seven days a week from 10:30AM – 3:00PM. You and your dog will never want to leave! Reservations are required.

9. Black Stallion Estate Winery in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley has a lot of interesting history. Before it became a winery, it was a well-known equestrian center called Silverado Western Center. Over the years the paddocks and barns that were once filled with prize-winning horses, became vineyards producing award-winning wines. With the history in mind, it only seems natural that our doggie companions should be allowed to join us when we taste. There is a lovely outdoor area where you can sit with your beloved hound or lap dog and comfortably taste the beauty that surrounds the Black Stallion property. The winemaker, Ralf Holdenried, has a great insight into the unique terroir and creates seamless, easy-to-drink varietals. You can select a walk-in tasting ($45) or if you have time, try the wildly popular Many Faces of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Tour & Tasting ($85). The latter choice (following a tour) will fill you with knowledge about four different Napa Valley appellations where Cabernet is grown. This side-by-side tasting is great for comparing and deciding what attributes you prefer in a Cabernet. If you are thinking about staying for a while, you may want to reserve a picnic lunch ahead and have a beautiful lunch (doggie bag included) at the estate. Check out website for seasonal picnic lunch options. Must be reserved at least 24 hours in advance. You will no doubt create memories to last FUR-ever at Black Stallion Estate Winery. Reservations recommended.

  8. Swanson Vineyards may have an address that says Napa, but it’s really on outskirts of Rutherford just off Highway 29. At Swanson your well-behaved dog is always welcome (leash required). Together, you can do a Salon Tasting ($65) in the posh salon room. At the Salon Tasting you will enjoy small bites paired with exclusive Swanson wines, around a delightful and well-dressed circular table. If you prefer to have a more casual experience, you can choose a Sip Shoppe Tasting in the whimsical gift shop (they have some really fun things to look at). Try the Bon Vivant Tasting ($40) for a taste of Swanson’s limited production wines. There is a charming garden (with lots of shade) to lounge around in and savor your selections. Towards the end of August, Swanson has a marvelous event called La Boheme Celebration - a circus themed event with magicians, acrobats, small bites, wine and more. And yes, doggies are welcome! Whether you are planning to join Swanson for a fun event or a tasting, you will be pleased you decided to go – and so will Fido. Reservations recommended.

7. Frog’s Leap Winery located in Rutherford is a picture perfect, completely sustainable and organic winery. The vintage barns and farmhouse setting are an idyllic locale to taste wine with friends and your pooch. Frog’s Leap has three tasting options, but only two of those experiences welcome your pets. If you are planning to do the Guided Tour & Tasting ($35), you will need to make arrangements for your dog. However, if you want to do the Signature Seated Tasting ($35) or the Garden/Cellar Tasting ($25), your dog (and you) will be welcomed with open arms (and probably a doggie treat). The wine at Frog’s Leap is excellent and loved by all. What you also need to leave time for is a leisurely tour of the gardens at Frog’s Leap as they are absolutely stunning and will offer a nice respite from the summer sun. The winery gets super busy on the weekends during summer and fall which is peak tourist season for Napa Valley. Be sure to make your reservations well in advance and let them know you are bringing your pooch. The reservationist will then be able to seat you in an ideal place for dogs and humans to sip, swirl and sleep (if you are the dog). Reservations required.

6. Laird Family Estate (North Napa) is one of my favorite places to taste wine with my friends and my dogs. Located right off of Highway 29 in north Napa, Laird is easy to spot as the copper-roof structure you can see from the road is shaped like a pyramid. Laird has been around since the 60’s and was originally built for other wineries to custom crush and produce their grapes from smaller farms. The back of the property is massive and has a ton of square footage where many vintners still make their wine and the Laird family also create their own wine. Recently remodeled, the back patio and tasting room are expansive, comfortable and overlook the vineyards and production facilities. You can do a Mixed Wine Tasting ($30), a Red Wine Tasting ($40) or my favorite – buy a bottle of wine, grab a blanket in the tasting room and go sprawl out on the luscious lawn. Everything about Laird is honest, down to earth and real. My dogs love it at Laird and so will you! Reservations recommended, but not required unless group is six or more .

5. Frenchie Winery at Raymond Vineyards was designed as the ultimate destination for doggies. In fact, I have never seen such a well thought out play area for pups. It’s obvious that Jean-Charles Boisset and Gina Gallo adore their French Poodle to the moon and back! They have named an entire brand after their famed Frenchie , who is quite the character and plays his part well. The doggie space is an open-air and shaded glorified kennel where you can leave your pup while you taste through their portfolio of wines. The décor is all about Royal French Bulldog history and is opulent to the max! Any dog that visits Raymond will surely leave a little bit more spoiled than he or she already is! Clean and with plenty of water, your precious doggie will be beyond thrilled to relax in the doggie oasis while you taste your heart out. Be sure to try the Frenchie wines – they are some of my favorite every day selections – red and white varietals are great for hot summer days by the pool or bocce ball nights in the park. If you prefer something else, there are many choices at Raymond and I am certain that you (or your fur-baby) will never forget your time at the winery. Who knows – maybe one day soon, we will see your dogs face on one of the labels! Reservations are required .

4. Bouchaine Vineyards located in the Los Carneros region of Napa Valley is an iconic hidden gem. It takes you a bit of time from downtown Napa, but once you arrive, you’ll immediately know it was worth going off the beaten path. Situated close to the lower wetlands of the Napa River, the weather is much cooler at Bouchaine. In fact, other parts of the valley can be almost 40 degrees warmer in summer! The vibe is casual and laid back, which we can all enjoy after a rough week at work. You and your group (plus dogs) can sit outside on the patio or in the beautiful garden (Dee’s Garden). Your wine educator will be full of stories and facts about the region. Bouchaine is cherished for its unique wines that are a reflection of the vision, hark work and finesse that goes into intelligent winemaking. Unlike many of the bigger places you will see further up the valley, Bouchaine is a hidden garden of earthly delights, filled with smiling people and happy dogs. For a bit of activity, try the monthly walk and tasting called Happy Tails and Trails . On this refreshing adventure, you and your doggies can explore the Carneros countryside, taste wine and make new friends. Patio Tastings ($20/ 60 minutes) and Winemaker/Somm Tours & Tastings ($50/ 120 minutes) are offered daily. Reservations recommended .

3. V. Sattui Winery in St. Helena is no doubt a destination that offers the whole wine tasting package. Located on Highway 29, it’s difficult to miss the sprawling grounds as you drive into town. Expect a crowd - V. Sattui is almost always full of people, children and dogs at any given moment because you can only purchase their wines at the tasting room- no where else! Being one of the long-standing wineries in town, they have been grandfathered in to the permitting matrix and are able to offer more than most of the newer establishments. At V. Sattui there is an artesian deli (with lots of selections and tasting stations), a stand up tasting room (where you can sample some of their wines, splurge for some bottles or simply wines by the glass), a huge indoor/outdoor space to picnic and ample space for events and even weddings (only five wineries in the Napa Valley have a permit to do weddings)! Of course, our furry well-behaved friends (dogs) are welcomed to join in on the fun. In fact, at V. Sattui they have an entire day dedicated to doggies called Pamper Your Pooch Day ! It’s genius. And, this ‘dogs day out’ exceeds the standard in doggie delights with doggie swag bags (call winery to get current dates). Stop by V. Sattui and enjoy a picnic, award winning wines and some of the best people watching in Napa Valley. Reservations recommended .

2. Plumpjack Winery located in Oakville District is a perfect (or pawfect) winery destination to bring your dog along. Located on the valley floor, there are lots of trees and shade on the property for you and your pooch to enjoy. The folks at Plumpjack are happy to have well-behaved dogs on the property, both inside the tasting room and outside on the shade-covered patio. When Governor Gavin Newsom and Gordon Getty discovered the Plumpjack grounds, I am sure they both had dogs in mind – right after the wine – which is nothing short of magical. Winemaker, Aaron Miller, makes it easy to enjoy bold and beautiful reds from Howell Mountain, Oakville Estate and Napa Valley. His commitment to the vineyards and his expression of their bounty come together in just the right way. The wine educators are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. You will be happy you booked and so will your fur baby! Reservations are required.

  1. Trefethen Family Vineyards has been a crown jewel of the Napa Valley since 1968 and was almost lost in the 2014 earthquake. After two years of major remodeling and putting the historical landmark back to the original design as it was one of the original gravity-fed wineries that were build back in the day. Trefethen is a destination that you could spend the entire day at and is still family owned and operated, today. The Trefethen’s have kept their vision on sustaining the land, the vines and the Napa Valley way of life. Of course, this means that they love dogs! At Trefethen, they realize that dogs are part of the family and farm life. So long as your doggie is on a leash and doesn’t bark at other guests, you are welcome to bring your dog along with you while you taste at Trefethen. You can choose from the Tasting Flight ($25 - $35), the Reserve Tasting ($50) or the Vineyard and Winery Tour ($45). I’d go for the Vineyard and Winery Tour where you can learn about the original winery from 1886, its recent renovation and then taste the Estate wines – which are so delicious! I am paw-sitive you and your pooch will have a blast at Trefethen. Little known fact is the long driveway leading to the winery was once the family’s private runway for Trefethen’s to visit the property by airplane in the early days.  Reservations are required.

About the Business

The way the tour works is you and your dog(s) will be picked up at your accommodations in the Napa or Sonoma area at the time you choose. The cost for two people is a fee of $65 per hour from the time you are picked up and dropped off, there is a 4 hour minimum but we can go as long as you like. For additional guests add $10 per hour per person, we will be touring in a Toyota Sienna van that can seat up to 6. This is a Private tour. I also provide a cooler and water for guests and their dog. There are many dog friendly wineries and that means you can bring your dog into the tasting room as long as the dog is on-leas h and well behaved; you also have the option of leaving the dog with me which then allows you to visit a non-dog friendly winery. You can choose which wineries you wish to visit or I can help you with that. Typically you will spend about 1 hour in each tasting room so in 4 hours you may visit 3 maybe 4 wineries. …

Dan was great. He knew many dog-friendly wineries and helped us decide where we wanted to go based on whether we wanted to be able to bring our dog into the tasting room vs. just onto the grounds, what kinds of wine we wanted to taste, what region we wanted to see. He even called ahead places to make us reservations. He also offered to stay with our dog in the car if there was somewhere we wanted to go that didn't allow dogs (ex: we went into Dean & Deluca to pick up food for a picnic). Dan was also interesting to talk to - his years of experience training animals span from dogs to dolphins!! Note that the vehicle is not fancy, it's a minivan :) but it gets the job done. And a final note: a prior reviewer who gave low stars said they were surprised Dan doesn't play with your dog while you're gone...I never saw this advertised as a Rover walk. It's a dog-friendly wine tour. It delivers on what the website (currently, at least) advertises.

Photo of Irene T.

Website promises a great tour of dog friendly wineries while the dog is entertained by Dan. Essentially what you get, however, is a $65/hour ride to various dog friendly wineries where your dog either stays in the car with Dan, or goes with you to the winery. We had assumed our dog would be played with while we're tasting, but when we mentioned to Dan that he needs to be able to run around, chase a ball, etc, Dan took us to a dog park, where he let us out to play with our dog while Dan stayed in the air-conditioned van (and we were being charged for the time we played with our dog). Definitely not worth the money.

Dan was amazing. Suggested great wineries according to my tastes. My dog loved him. And he has a lifetime of interesting stories to tell.

Dog exploring the vineyard

The Napa Valley wine region boasts about 120 wineries that welcome dogs on their grounds and/or their tasting rooms, and you’ll find brief descriptions of most of them in the listings on DogTrekker.com. Where to start? To minimize driving, choose several in the same general area. Many wineries require appointments for reasons of crowd control, so be sure to call first to ensure a personalized experience. Be prepared for tasting fees ranging from $20 to $50.

The Carneros region, at the southern end of the valley, is quickest to reach from Sacramento or the Bay Area, and makes for a great day-trip destination. Dog-friendly wineries here include Jamieson Ranch Vineyards , whose tasting facility resembles a western mountain lodge and features a covered veranda overlooking the vineyards; Trinitas Cellars at the Meritage Resort, whose tasting room is located in a cave; and nearby Falcor Wine Cellars , just down the street from the famous Napa Grape Crusher statue.

Moving up-valley, Anderson’s Conn Valley Vineyards three miles outside St. Helena area enjoys a secluded setting that feels miles away from the hustle-bustle of Highway 29, while historic Flora Springs Vineyards , just outside town, summons food trucks on weekends through October and welcomes dogs on its patio, in its picnic areas and on the trails that wind through the property. Nearby Inglenook is a stunning Napa Valley estate  dating to the 1870s and restored by Francis Ford-Coppola. Dogs aren’t allowed inside the imposing chateau, but the fountain-bedecked grounds are worth strolling nonetheless, and you can taste al fresco at the Bistro.

The Rutherford wine-growing region presents still more opportunities for exploration with your pup. Tres Sabores , small and family owned, is a leader in biodynamic farming. Your dog can’t accompany you on the indoor portion of tours, but you can both meet the resident farm animals and enjoy libations in the vineyard picnic area. Honig is another winery that never disappoints, whether or not you’re with a dog. It’s stylish tasting lounge is in the middle of a vineyard, and if you’re interested in sustainable farming, you can join a tour with your pup by your side.

Virginia Vacation Guide

17 Dog-Friendly Wineries in Virginia

Virginia is home to over 300 wineries. One of my favorite weekend activities is to visit some of the local wineries with friends, and with my friends’ dogs! We often bring our furry friends to enjoy a picnic and a flight of our favorite reds and whites!

Many Virginia wineries are dog-friendly. Some wineries only allow dogs outside, while others allow dogs both inside and outside, which can be especially great when visiting wineries in colder weather or rainy weather.

When trying to find out ahead of time if a winery is dog-friendly, there are two resources I recommend. You can check out the dog policy on the winery’s website to see if they are dog-friendly. They may have a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section or a “Visit Us” section that includes this information.

Another great resource is Bring Fido , which has information about dog-friendly wineries, hotels, restaurants, and more!

Below is my ultimate guide to the best dog-friendly wineries in Virginia. I’ve broken down the list by region to help you plan your next winery tour with your four-legged friends!

Please note that the below list doesn’t include all dog-friendly wineries in Virginia, but I will be adding to the list on a regular basis!

Dog-Friendly Wineries in the Willamette Valley

Oregon is a famously dog-friendly state, and it’s no different in Oregon Wine Country. You’ll see four-legged friends on hiking trails, lounging on brewpub patios, and—yes—relaxing with their owners at wineries and tasting rooms across the Willamette Valley.

Many of the region’s more than 700 wineries—largely those with outside seating—are excited to see your pooch amble in at your feet; in some cases, a tasting-room employee will even get a bowl of cold water and treats for your pup. And many are home to winery pups themselves, as well. We’ve rounded up a look at dog-friendly wineries in the Willamette Valley—as well as a few outfitters offering tours for your whole family (dogs included).

Before heading out, please note that dogs should be well-behaved and, when appropriate or required, leashed up for the safety of other pets and their human owners. And as always please be a good guest and clean up.

Dog-Friendly Winery Tours

Triangle Wine Country Tours offers a wide range of excursions—small-group tours, private trips, and experiential outings (like vineyard walks and food pairings). The tours themselves aren’t dog-friendly—but when making a reservation, it can't hurt to ask to meet Cassie; the company's young Bernese mountain dog enjoys visiting pup-friendly wineries almost as much as tour guests. "So many out-of-state visitors miss the dogs they left at home, so most guests are happy if Cassie can join," says Triangle Wine Country Tours Owner Michele Margherita.

The Ultimate List of Dog Friendly Wineries in Paso Robles

a dog that is standing in the grass at a paso robles winery

Dog lovers and owners, welcome to Paso Robles wine country! Here in the heart of the Central Coast, Paso Robles is host to dozens of wineries happy to have your furry friend on site. With this article we hope to provide a few useful dos-and-don’ts, plus a comprehensive-as-possible reference list of wineries which aim to please their dog owning guests.

Planning to Visit Dog Friendly Wineries in Paso Robles?

While it is true that Paso Robles is a wonderful place to bring your dog, a little common courtesy and awareness will go a long way to ensure Fluffy and your winery stay friendly:

  • Keep your dog leashed . Most dog-friendly wineries in Paso Robles will ask that dogs be kept on a leash at all times. This is for the safety of both your dog and other visitors to the winery.
  • Bring water and snacks for your dog . While some wineries provide water bowls for dogs, it’s always a good idea to bring your own water and a few snacks to keep them satisfied. As a courtesy, feeding and hydrating them outside would surely be appreciated.
  • Be respectful of other visitors. Not everyone is a dog lover, and there are some whom are phobic, so, keep your dog close to you and under control at all times, being mindful of other visitors’ personal space.
  • Clean up after your dog. It’s critical to clean up after your dog, both inside and outside the winery. Bring a few bags with you and ensure that you account for their need for a bathroom break as far away from the tasting area as is reasonable, such as the parking lot.
  • Call ahead if you aren’t certain the winery’s policy about dogs, your size dog etc. If you have hired a designated driver , check if they are OK with watching your dog while you are tasting.

Handy List of Dog Friendly Wineries in Paso Robles

Please note* this list MAY not be 100% accurate as times and policies change. It never hurts to confirm with wineries ahead of time to be sure. Most of these are pulled from other Paso Robles travel websites, and a few from our direct experience. It is certain that this list can be added to as the Paso Robles wine map is large and ever-evolving. So, if a winery you hope to travel with your dog isn’t listed here, that does not necessarily mean they aren’t dog friendly.  A dog-friendly tour company like Destination Drivers is happy to confirm these details for you if needed.

Dog-Friendly Saint-Émilion Châteaux to Visit with Your Pup

By Jennifer Dombrowski 2 Comments

There’s no need to leave your pup at home when visiting the Bordeaux wine region! Many wine châteaux love your dog (almost) as much as you do. There are a number of dog-friendly Saint-Émilion châteaux that are proud to welcome both you and your pup for a visit. Here are some of dog-friendly wineries (though not an exhaustive list), which Coco the Traveling Samoyed gives two paws up!

Coco the Samoyed poses with a bottle of wine at Château Cantenac in Saint-Émilion, France

Drone aerial of Chateau Cantenac surrounded by grape vines

Château Cantenac

Château Cantenac is a charming family-run Saint-Émilion Grand Cru châteaux that has been in the Roskam-Brunot family since 1937. Of course, as a family-run estate you can expect to be welcomed by one of the family members themselves. And that’s exactly what makes Château Cantenac well worth a stop during your trip to Saint-Émilion .

Extremely welcoming to both humans and your furry four-legged companions, we recommend a private Prestige tour. This visit includes the classic tour of the vineyard, winery and barrel room, and ends with a tasting of four wines accompanied by bread and cheese.

The Prestige tour is available by reservation. Plan 1 hour 30 minutes for this tasting experience. Château Cantenac is best reached by car.

A view of the modern tasting room that juts out from the winery as seen from the vineyard at Château La Croizille

Château La Croizille

Château La Croizille is arguable situated at one of the prettiest viewpoints in the Saint-Émilion vineyards. Sitting high up on a hillside, the château’s vines tumble down the terraced plots from the unique tasting room.

What is particularly unique about a visit to Château La Croizille is that visitors actually get to visit two different châteaux sitting right next to one another. Both are owned by the De Schepper family, and the modern Château La Croizille is a stark contrast to its classical sister, Château Tour Baladoz. The tour finishes with a tasting of two wines, one wine each from Château La Croizille and Château Tour Baladoz.

Of course, dogs on leashes are welcome. And you might even like to linger on the terrace wine bar over an extra glass before having a walk on the vineyard paths with your dog.

Château La Croizille is open by appointment only from Monday – Sunday. Book your visit online and plan 1 hour for this tasting. The château is best reached by car.

The winery building set behind grape vines at Château Pas de l'Ane in Saint-Émilion

Château Pas de l’Ane

Named for the donkey that is Château Pas de l’Ane’s mascot, this Saint-Émilion winery can be considered a baby in a land of storied estates. Nestled between famous neighbors Château Cheval Blanc and Château Figeac, Château Pas de l’Ane got its start in 1999 with just one hectare of vines.

The château has never stopped expanding and today there are 13 hectares of vines spreading over 5 of Saint-Émilion’s 8 Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation areas.

Beyond the classic wine tasting visit, Château Pas de l’Ane offers visitors one of the unique wine escape game visits in the Bordeaux wine region. And you can even put your pooch to work sniffing out the clues to help you and are partners solve the case of the missing bottle of wine before the clock runs out.

Château Pas de l’Ane Escape Wine is available for 2 – 6 people with advance booking. Plan 2 hours for this escape game wine tasting experience. The château is best reached by car.

Three wines of the estates of Château Rol Valentin lined up in the tasting room

Château Rol Valentin

Like Château Pas de l’Ane, Château Rol Valentin is another baby among Saint-Émilion wineries. The château’s history only dates back to 1994, when it was founded by former European football (soccer) star, Eric Prissette. And since 2009 it has been a family-run estate belonging to Alexandra and Nicolas Robin.

Head to Château Role Valentin not only for the fantastic wines, but for the unique Shape of the Wine Glass workshop. This visit dives into how the shape of a wine glass can change the aromas and even the taste of the wine. You won’t believe it until you experience it. Of course, furry family members are loved and welcomed by Château Rol Valentin, too.

Château Rol Valentine is open by reservation. Plan 2 hours for the Shape of the Wine Glass tasting experience. The château is best reached by car.

A tasting of two wines of Couvent des Jacobins paired with chocolate and pastries in the garden of the winery in Saint-Émilion

Couvent des Jacobins

Located right in the heart of the village of Saint-Émilion, the Couvent des Jacobins is unique. It is the only château to be located in and have its wine making facilities located within the medieval walls of Saint-Émilion. It is set inside a former 13th century monastery and takes its name from the order of friars who once called the monastery home.

A true family-run estate, the current owners are descendants of Couvent des Jacobins’ founders. It is truly rare these days to find a Bordeaux wine estate that has remained within the same family since its founding.

Not only does the location within the village of Saint-Émilion make Couvent des Jacobins a must visit, but the wines are top notch. Visitors won’t miss out on a trip to the vines, either. You and your four legged companion are whisked off to the plot located just behind the Couvent des Jacobins in the estate’s own tuk-tuk.

No matter which visit you choose, all visits at Couvent des Jacobins are private. But we recommend choosing La Trilogie de Couvent. You taste not only the first and second wines of Couvent des Jacobins, but also make a special stop at the boutique CALICEM and taste this superior single grape wine that comes from a plot located right next to the famous Château Angélus and from arguably some of the best terroir in Saint-Émilion.

Couvent des Jacobins is open by appointment. Plan 2 hours for La Trilogie de Couvent tasting experience. The estate is located in the heart of Saint-Émilion. Saint-Émilion is easily reached from Bordeaux Center by train to Gare Saint-Émilion .

A glass of Les Cordliers white AOC Crémant de Bordeaux

Les Cordeliers

Also located inside the walls of Saint-Émilion, Les Cordeliers has been producing sparkling wine for over 100 years. Totally different than the Saint-Émilion red wine blends typical of this area, the AOC Crémant de Bordeaux is Bordeaux’s champagne style sparkling wine produced in both white and rosé. While the grapes themselves aren’t grown within the walls of the medieval village, the crémant is aged in the maze of tunnels beneath the cloister.

No matter whether you opt for a tour to see the aging tunnels below or just grab a glass of the Bordeaux bubbly to enjoy in the enclosed garden, Le Cordeliers is a must-visit when in Saint-Émilion. Better yet, it’s also dog-friendly.

Les Cordeliers is open year round and wines by the glass or bottle, along with grape juice can be purchased from the bar in the garden. Tours can be booked at the Saint-Émilion Tourist Office or online in advance. The cloister is located in the heart of Saint-Émilion. Saint-Émilion is easily reached from Bordeaux Center by train to Gare Saint-Émilion .

My husband and I are travelling St Emilion with our small, well behaved, dog – Dalton – and I have thoroughly enjoyed reading your blog. We will definitely visit some winerys with Dalton. We are staying for a week very close to St Emilion centre so any other dog friendly recommendations (e.g. walks, things to do, nice restaurants etc) would be very welcomed and appreciated. Thank you

Saint-Émilion is very dog-friendly! Restaurants are no problem at all. Almost all accept well behaved dogs both inside and on terraces. Just mention you have a dog when making reservations.

You can also visit the underground church, which is a must. The Cordeliers cloister is also dog-friendly. You can do the tuk-tuk tours. I would suggest mostly following my 3-Day Saint-Emilion itinerary as nearly all of it is dog-friendly.

Moscow Metro 2019

dog friendly winery tour

Will it be easy to find my way in the Moscow Metro? It is a question many visitors ask themselves before hitting the streets of the Russian capital. As metro is the main means of transport in Moscow – fast, reliable and safe – having some skills in using it will help make your visit more successful and smooth. On top of this, it is the most beautiful metro in the world !

. There are over 220 stations and 15 lines in the Moscow Metro. It is open from 6 am to 1 am. Trains come very frequently: during the rush hour you won't wait for more than 90 seconds! Distances between stations are quite long – 1,5 to 2 or even 3 kilometers. Metro runs inside the city borders only. To get to the airport you will need to take an onground train - Aeroexpress.

Traveler Reviews

I cant recommend this tour highly enough. I asked a friend to recommend one thing to do with limited time in Moscow and he said, check out the metro. I did one better, and went on this individual tour yesterday with my very well informed guide, Alina. She took me to a number of stations and explained the history, politics and meanings behind the different sculpures and artworks in a way that made the whole experience far more meaningful than getting on and off the metro without guidance would have done. I had a really fantastic time and was thoroughly impressed. To top it all off, we had lunch and Alina suggested some great things for me to do, even whatsapping me maps, suggestions, and internet links. Today she followed up by messaging me to ask how my day was going and if I had any questions about the city, or recommendations for places to eat, etc. A great tour, a lovely guide and a fantastic experience. I couldnt recommend this tour, or Alina, any more highly. Fantastic!

Dear Friends,

My son and myself visited Moscow for a holiday in April 2018. And we had selected this fantastic tour. Our Guide Mrs. Julia came sharp at 10.00 AM even though she was not feeling well and had sore throat. Thereafter she took us to many Metro stations. Though I had already visited Moscow last year and seen all these stations, she gave phenomenal historic background and many interesting facts. She was almost fluent in English and and a good knowledge of Russian Culture, food and many other things. Overall we enjoyed thoroughly and I will highly recommend this tour with Julia if possible. Truly amazing person. And even more amazing tour.

Our Tour booked for 26 December 2017 was absolutely amazing. Our guide Julia picked us up from our Hotel in St Peterburg on time in a luxury minivan. Thanks to Julia we were able to see most of the tourist attractions that day. She went out of her way for us to make our day special. She had a vast knowledge of all the places that we visited. Lunch was special in a typical Russian restaurant with food from the region. I would definitely recommend this tour.

Picked up in the hotel lobby by our guide, Lylie, who then walked us to the closest Metro. She walked/trained us to 13 different stations and then explained the history of the metro and the significance of the decor in each station. We had plenty of time to photo, view the decor, watch and ride the trains and observe the people coming and going with their daily affairs. The art work/mosaics/sculptures/stained glass/ marble all had a role to play in presenting the history of communist Russia. The Russian metro well deserves the title of the most interesting and outstanding metro in the world. Lylie then took us to lunch, advised us on menu choices and their significance in the Russian culture and was very happy answering our questions on how the younger generation is responding to the new Russia. We had an outstanding guide, a fantastic experience and would highly recommend this tour over and above other tours which merely include a visit to a small number of stations. Lesley and David - Sydney

Great guide! She explained everything and took me to all the important stations. She knew her stuff! Worth it!

Our guide ,Dacha, was charming and very informative. We took the 2 hour tour and saw what Dacha thought were the most beautiful and interesting metro stations. The Metro is certainly worthy of its museum status and we were glad to have some of the designs and features explained to us.
