Welcome to the Official Tourist Website of Warsaw

Each city has a place that is its showcase and a must-see on any trip. In Warsaw, it’s the Old Town , entered on the UNESCO World Heritage List – it’s where the city’s heart has been beating for centuries. However, when you cross the Vistula River and look at the Old Town from a distance, you are struck by how unusual the panorama of the city is – skyscrapers rise above the red roofs of the Old Town. Historical buildings blend in harmoniously with modern architecture, and the city surprises us by revealing its second face… read more

Warsaw’s fountains have been attracting hundreds of thousands of viewers for years, telling magical stories and urban legends. The spectacular combination of water, images, music and lights creates an extraordinary evening spectacle that cannot be missed. The shows have become a permanent part of the cultural landscape of Warsaw, becoming one of the most popular attractions for residents, as well as tourists from Poland and abroad.

This year’s show, titled ” Dancing Queen “, will take viewers back to 1976, when the famous band ABBA visited Warsaw. The Swedish group flew to Poland on the eve of the release of the album “Arrival” to record a concert for Studio 2, an extremely popular Polish television program. A new show in the Multimedia Fountain Park will remind you of this historic event. We hope that the show will delight viewers through spectacular laser projections and dancing fountains to the rhythm of hits that make subsequent generations of listeners dance.

Kuba was extremely knowledgeable and contributed considerably to our understanding and enjoyment of the spots we saw. He also showed up on our final day with special Polish donuts for us to enjoy -- a thoughtful and very sweet gesture. We recommend Kuba highly!

Am excellent tour that provided fine accommodations and a good mix of organized touring and free time. It was novel in that you had different guides and drivers in each city but the handoffs were seamless and each guide was superior. I would recommend adding the optional Marienberg Fortress and Salt Mine visit options. I booked other sites such as Auschwitz & topic specific walking tours thru other operators but they blended well. You will hit the "Big 3 cities" but you'll not see much countryside or small town life on this particular tour. Any glitches were quickly and satisfactorially resolved. I will be back and I will use this operator if possible.

We have hired a private driver between many countries (easy). We have taken organized group tours and we have completely traveled with no plan. We have used trains and boats. Europamundo is somewhere in the middle. We found them because they were the only company that could easily get us between the Baltic countries (trains, country buses and private cars were not an option). It turns out, I really like this option. These tours are like a multi-country hop on hop off bus. You can customize your countries 100%. In other words, you tell them where you want to visit and they will bounce you on and off buses to make it work [Removed in Moderation]. The buses are modern enough with recline, arm rests, tray tables and foot rests (no wifi or toilet). They stop every couple of hours and the included hotel are 4* quality. Here all the hotels have had spa facilities (it is the Baltics after all). Each city includes a short city tour (combo of bus and walking) and breakfast is always included, sometimes more meals and admission to attractions. For those looking for the ease of travel with some free time this company is worth considering. You should note - Our tour is English but this is a Spanish company so often we listen to the explanations on the bus in Spanish first, then English. Overall, I highly recommend this company for what you get! Clean, nicer-end accommodations and easy travel between locations.

We were shown all around Poland in a very comfortable coach. The hotels were nice and in great locations, making it easy for us to find our own activity if we did not choose to do the optional excursion. Wonderful trip!

Tailor-Made Private Poland Tour with Daily Departure

What people love about warsaw tours.

I think this tour is just right for covering the best sites in Poland in a week's time. I doubt few travelers know anything about Poland's history. So a brief outline of the essentials at the start of the tour would facilitate understanding in Warsaw and Krakow. Our guides were excellent, but if they had structured their presentations, they would have communicated the details at the sights visited much better. Since we two were the only tourists on this tour in this Covid-marred year, we traveled with a driver (Piotr) who was tops.

Warsaw Tours Poland

What are the best tours to take in Warsaw , Poland?

I spent about a month and a half in Warsaw on two different visits in the past few years and took all sorts of local tours around the city.

Warsaw is big. I’ve heard others say they didn’t find it very impressive when they first got there, and that doesn’t surprise me. Warsaw is multifaceted and can be a bit overwhelming at first.

However, there are a lot of interesting things to see, discover and learn in Warsaw.

As with many other big cities, the secret to making the most of Warsaw is planning your visit well and using local guides to show you the best things their city has to offer.

In this guide I picked the best Warsaw tours that cater for different interests and travel styles.

Warsaw free walking tour

Warsaw free tours

The easiest way to get to know a new city is by taking a free walking tour that will give you a general introduction to the city.

The Free Walking Tour of Warsaw starts in the market square in the old town and covers many of the city’s landmarks, highlights and history.

I recommend taking a free walking tour in Warsaw on your first or second day there.

A free tour is tip-based, meaning you pay the guide as much as you think the tour was worth at the end.

The most populat guided tours in Warsaw

Tours to take in warsaw if you’re short on time.

If you’re on a short visit to Warsaw, you can save time by taking a sightseeing tour that covers many of the highlights in a few hours , by your favourite means of transportation:

Warsaw bicycle tour : See Warsaw on a bike in 3 hours with a local guide. This is one of the most popular tours in Warsaw.

Warsaw car tour : This is a highly rated 3 hour private tour, combining a walking tour with a tour by car, including hotel pickup.

Warsaw segway tour : A 1.5 hour tour on  a segway that lets you see more of the city in less time. If you’ve never had a chance to ride a segway before, training is included.

Warsaw electric scooter tour : See the old town with a guide on an electric scooter in 90 minutes.

Warsaw bus tour : A comprehensive tour, combining walking and a bus ride in Warsaw, that will let you see different parts of the city in 3 hours. It includes hotel pickup and drop-off.

Warsaw history tours in vintage cars

There’s a nice selection of tours in communist era vintage cars in Warsaw. They cover communist history, Jewish history and city highlights.

Here’s are the top rated vintage car tours in Warsaw:

Off the Beaten Path 4-Hour Tour in a Nysa 522 car, this is a socialist  themed tour covering the Praga district and the city centre. It includes hotel pickup and drop-off.

3-Hour Communism Tour in an Original Socialist Van in a Nysa 522 van with a focus on places associated with the city’s socialist past.

Historic Private Tour in Retro Fiat : Learn about communist era Warsaw and other significant events in Warsaw’s history in a Fiat 125p.

Chopin music concert and Warsaw tours

Chopin tours in Warsaw

Frédéric Chopin is one of Warsaw’s most celebrated composers. If you like his music or want to get to know it, here’s what Warsaw has to offer:

Attend a live concert : A live piano concert of Chopin’s famous music that takes place in the old town. The ticket price includes a drink during the intermission.

Visit the Chopin Museum : This is one of the most impressive interactive museums I’ve ever been to. The display is beautiful and very engaging. You can get a combined ticket to the museum and to the old town piano concert.

Take a Chopin walking tour in Warsaw : There are plenty of places associated with Chopin around the city and you can find them with the help of a local guide. The ticket price for this tour also includes a guided tour of the Chopin Museum and hotel pickup.

Take a half day Chopin experience : This tour is for true Chopin fans. It includes a guided tour to many spots around Warsaw, including the Chopin Museum, and a trip to Zelazowa Wola, where Chopin was born.  The entry ticket to the museum and the transportation are all included in the price.

Wilanow palace and gardens tickets and tour

Wilanow Palace and Gardens tour

The Museum of King Jan III’s Palace at Wilanów is located a little bit outside the city centre and is well worth a visit.

Nicknamed “The Polish Versailles”, this beautiful Baroque style palace survived WWII, and is a very unique building in Warsaw.

Wilanow Palace is surrounded by wonderful gardens that are part of the visit.

You can see the palace, the decorated royal rooms and the palace art collection with the Wilanow Palace guided tour , which includes skip-the-line tickets for both the palace and the gardens.

Each of these can have long queues… I was there in August and was told that they were running out of tickets, so a skip-the-line ticket can come in handy, especially if you visit in high season.

The tour lasts 2 hours and can also include hotel pickup if you opt for it, at an extra cost (but you can also arrive independently by bus or taxi from the city centre).

Jewish history Warsaw tours

The free walking tour of Jewish Warsaw covers  the former Warsaw Ghetto, the famous Polin Museum (Museum of the History of Polish Jews) , the story of the holocaust, as well as stories of the thriving Jewish community in Warsaw that thrived up until WWII.

If you prefer a private tour, the 3-Hour Car Tour of Jewish Warsaw covers  the Jewish cemetery , a synagogue that survived WWII, the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews and more.

An easy Warsaw 1 day itinerary

Warsaw, Poland, is one of the oldest and most historic Europe cities. It was almost completely destroyed by the Nazi Germany in World War II. However, it has since rebuilt itself into a beautiful city with a rich history and an important centre of culture and politics.

Many people plan a trip to Warsaw in Northern Poland for at least a week, but if for some reason you only have 1 day in Warsaw, we have the perfect Warsaw 1 day itinerary for you.

How to save money on your Warsaw short break

Evening in warsaw poland, visit poland travel planning.

Your day in the capital city of Poland should easily include all the very best things to do in Warsaw to give you a perfect taste of what this amazing Polish destination has to offer.

Our one-day Warsaw itinerary has you spending 1 full day of at least 12 hours exploring the Polish capital as part of a Poland itinerary. We have created this Warsaw 1 day itinerary guide to help you plan your day in Warsaw .

A girl on a Warsaw 1 day itinerary

The modern version of Warsaw is home to a wide variety of museums, art galleries, and historical attractions, including the Warsaw Barbican, Warsaw ghetto, old town marketplace presidential palace and more. Your one day in Warsaw should include trying Polish food such as sour rye soup, Bigos, hunter’s stew, cabbage stew and the famous Pierogi.

The old town district of Warsaw is also a major tourist attraction, with its narrow streets, colourful buildings, and many food options for one day in Warsaw Poland.

When is the best time to visit Warsaw?

Poland is a great country to visit  any time of year, but the spring and summer months offer the most pleasant weather. Warsaw, Poland’s capital city , sees average temperatures in the low 60s during May and June. July and August are even warmer, with average highs in the mid-70s.

This makes Warsaw sightseeing much easier in the warmer months for your Warsaw 1 day itinerary. The fall months see temperatures drop back into the 50s and 60s, making it a great time to explore other parts of the country.

Poland can be cold and snowy in the winter months, so if you’re looking for a warm getaway, consider travelling to Poland during its peak season.

Is 1 day in Warsaw enough?

Warsaw is an amazing, one of the best cities in Poland , that you could spend weeks exploring. 1 day in Warsaw is certainly not enough to do justice to the many incredible things to do in Warsaw.

What we will do with a 1-day Warsaw itinerary is to inspire you to plan your next trip to Warsaw and see even more the next time around! You will find plenty to do for singles, couples, and  families in Warsaw.

Although Poland is a budget-friendly location, several of the best things to do in Warsaw aren’t free for your short Warsaw one-day itinerary.

Some of the best Warsaw activities like the entrance to world-class museums such as the POLN Museum of the History of Polish Jews, The Warsaw Uprising Museum and the Fryderyk Chopin Museum in Warsaw, the viewing terrace on the 30th floor of the Palace of Culture and Science and many cost money. You could consider a free walking tour while visiting Warsaw.

You’ll be able to pick the 24-hour pass and use it to complement your Warsaw 1 day itinerary. You’ll need to squeeze in as much as possible to make the All-Inclusive pass pay for itself, but it’s definitely doable.

We’ve included a little note in our one-day in Warsaw itinerary if an activity is included on the Warsaw Pass, so if you’re on the fence, keep an eye out for those below when planning a trip to Poland.

Want to take Poland home with you?  Here are all the best Polish souvenirs you should consider

Here is your Warsaw 1 day itinerary guide

While we highly recommend a longer stay in Warsaw there are times a short trip to Europe is the only option. We hope this Warsaw 1 day itinerary maximises your vacation to Warsaw experiences and answers your question about what to do in Warsaw in one day.

Warsaw 1-day tour – Hop on hop off the bus

The number one thing you should do if you only have a 1-day stopover in Warsaw is to buy a 24-hour Warsaw one-day ticket on the Warsaw sightseeing bus.

The hop-on hop-off Warsaw bus will take you to all the best stops in the city and the sightseeing bus is one of the best tours of Warsaw. It has a red line and blue line, taking in a combined 23 stops.

The bus stops at some major sites in Warsaw such as The Palace of Science and Culture, Old Town Market Square, The National Stadium, The POLN Museum, The Warsaw Rising Museum , Castle Square and the Downtown area.

After you have done the full lap and seen all the sights on the bus pick some of the best ones to see up close in Warsaw.

We recommend choosing from the 5 attractions below when visiting Poland’s capital for 1 day.

What to see in Warsaw in one day – The POLN Museum

The POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews is located in Warsaw, Poland. The museum’s mission is to educate people about the history of Polish Jews. The museum opened in 2014 and is the largest museum of its kind in Europe.

The museum tells the story of the Jewish community in Poland from its earliest days to the present. It features exhibits of Jewish culture, religion, politics, and everyday life. The museum also includes a Holocaust memorial and an interactive children’s exhibit.

The POLIN Museum is free to visit, making this museum a budget-friendly option in Warsaw for your Warsaw 1 day itinerary.

Palace of science and culture

Warsaw’s Palace of Science and Culture is a massive structure that has been the subject of much debate. Completed in 1955, the palace was designed by architect Joseph Stalin’s favourite architect, Lev Rudnev.

Waarsaw City

The tallest building in Warsaw has been criticised for its Stalinist architecture, which is considered to be brutal and imposing. Despite the criticism, the palace in the city centre has remained a popular tourist attraction, with its observation deck providing amazing city views. Book tickets for the Palace of Science and Culture.

*If you are looking for a quick and hearty bite to eat on your visit to the Palace of Science and Culture there is a traditional Milkbar in the basement. Serving amazing food you can easily add a stop here on your Warsaw 1 day itinerary, ticking off another amazing Warsaw experience.

Planning a trip to Warsaw:  Here are the best areas to stay in

The Warsaw National Stadium

For sports lovers, a tour of the National Stadium might be a highlight of your visit to Warsaw. The PGE National Stadium dominates the horizon from the Warsaw Old Town. The PGE National Stadium was built in 2012 for the European Football Championship that was co-hosted by Poland and Ukraine. For any travellers who love sport, this has to be one of the best things to do in Warsaw.

Poland National Stadium in Warsaw

The National Stadium holds 58,000 and is often packed full when the Polish National team plays Football. The stadium has played host to a number of the biggest International acts on the planet including Guns n Roses, Beyonce, Metallica and Ed Sheeran just to name a few. (Classical Chopin concerts are held free throughout the city).

Guided tours of the stadium run 7 days a week, 10:00-19:00 every 30 minutes (in Polish). English tours are conducted Mon-Fri 12:00, 14:00 and 17:00, and Sat/Sun 12:00, 14:30 and 17:00. French, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish tours take place by prior arrangement. The stadium is located near the railway station  Warszawa Stadion . The stadium is on the S1 and S2 lines of the Warsaw metro.

One day in Warsaw, what to do – visit the Old Town

A visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Warsaw Old Town is one of the city’s most popular tourist destinations. The Old Town was first settled in the 13th century and has been rebuilt and restored many times over the years. The Warsaw Old Town is home to many historic buildings , churches, and monuments for you to see in a day in Warsaw.

Discover more Polish castles :  Stay the night at the amazing Czocha Castle

The Royal Castle in the Old Town of Warsaw

The star attraction of the Warsaw Old Town is the Warsaw Castle . The Castle is situated at the entrance to Warsaw Old Town. The Castle was home to the Kings and Queens of Poland over the years. In 1939 the castle came under bombardment by the Luftwaffe fighter aircraft and was then destroyed by the Nazis after the failed  Warsaw Uprising .

Warsaw Castle in the old town

Today the restored and rebuilt Castle of Warsaw takes its place, looking larger than life and welcoming tourists. The castle was rebuilt as close as possible to its original design, the interior was restored by acquiring pieces of furniture and decorations from all around Poland.

The basement art Gallery even has 2 Rembrandts that were donated to the Polish people to display. There is no better way to learn about Polish Heritage than by a tour of the Warsaw castle.

If you have the evening spare, consider doing a Warsaw Pub crawl or food tour in the city , This will give you a great sense of the foods and drinks the Polish people who live in Warsaw like. This is a great way to finish off a Warsaw 1 day itinerary.
