Brett Young to Hit the Road on ‘5 Tour 3 2 1′ in 2023

Country hitmaker Brett Young has announced his brand new tour, Brett Young: 5 Tour 3 2 1.

Kicking off in Columbus, Ohio, on March 30, 2023, the 17-date trek will span across the U.S. and conclude at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on May 20, 2023. Morgan Evans and newcomer Ashley Cooke will serve as openers on the tour.

In addition to the touring news, the “In Case You Didn’t Know” hitmaker has shared that he will release a new rendition of his fan-favorite song, “You Ain’t Here to Kiss Me,” on December 2. The heart-rending number, which Young co-wrote with Tiffany Goss and Matt Alderman, was originally released in 2017 off his self-titled debut album with Big Machine Label Group.

According to a press release, the track is slated to feature a more stripped-back production that will put Young’s emotional delivery front and center.

"I can be a very emotional songwriter and, for some reason, the sad, reflective songs, often come naturally for me,” Young shares with the press. “The song is a true story about a situation my now wife and I had many years back — it just describes the feeling of missing someone and seeing everyone else around you in happy relationships. Dann Huff has been wanting to cut a new version of it for a while so we thought the timing was right to give it a bit of a new life around this coming New Year."

Young’s 5 Tour 3, 2, 1 follows his recent sold-out tour across the pond in Europe. In April, the California native and Cooke collaborated on a duet version of her debut country radio single, " Never ‘Til Now ."

Young is currently rising up the country charts with his current single, " You Didn’t ," which is No. 15-and-climbing on the Mediabase Country Chart. The heartbreak number is off his 2021 eight-song collection, Weekends Look a Little Different These Days , which also includes the hit single "Lady."

Fans can purchase tickets to Young's upcoming tour on his website.

From ‘McCartney 3, 2, 1’ Is Revelatory—Just Not in the Ways You’d Expected – The Ringer , July 16, 2021:

[…] Therein lay the challenge for the makers of McCartney 3, 2, 1: how to induce one of the most-interviewed men in the world (and, perhaps, in history) to say something he hasn’t said (or even thought) in more than half a century of talking about a band that last recorded before he turned 28. Eliciting something fresh seems to have been one of the producers’ primary concerns. […] McCartney connoisseurs will recognize plenty of repeated tales in Hulu’s long and winding ode to McCartney’s musical genius […] But what the series lacks in previously unheard information about the Beatles’ lives, it more than makes up for in celebrating and documenting the minor miracles that occurred when they came together inside the studio. By centering the songs, McCartney 3, 2, 1 captures its subject’s wonder at the way in which he and his friends made music—which, unlike memory, doesn’t degrade or sound stale, even after 50-plus years. […] McCartney 3, 2, 1  isn’t a standard documentary. It is, as Pollack puts it, “a very intimate discussion between two music greats.” The only talking heads here are McCartney and super-producer Rick Rubin, who leads McCartney on a mystery tour of his musical accomplishments, prompting Paul to chime in about how he or his Beatle bandmates wrote this or played that. Each episode consists of excerpts from an extended conversation between McCartney and Rubin, who filmed for two days at a hastily assembled soundstage near McCartney’s Hamptons home last August. In the course of the three-hour series (which was whittled down from 15 hours of footage), McCartney and Rubin revisit roughly three dozen songs from the first quarter century of the McCartney catalog, ranging from his earliest experiments to Beatles classics to a couple of cuts from  McCartney II . “We didn’t need to do another Beatles doc,” Pollack says. “We didn’t want to do a touring Beatlemania doc. We didn’t want to really explore the stories … that people knew so well.” Instead, he says, “We wanted to talk to the musician who happened to be a Beatle.” The pitch to Paul, who had some downtime during the pandemic (though he continued to record), was less about McCartney as a cultural icon than about his bona fides as a bloke who plays bass (and piano, guitar, and drums, among many other instruments). Pollack continues, “We felt that what might appeal to Paul was to really focus on his extraordinary musical chops. … He really hadn’t been approached about that sort of focus before. And I think it felt fresh to him.” In the fifth episode, Rubin reads McCartney a quote from his phone that sums up the series’ thesis: “Paul is one of the most innovative bass players that ever played bass, and half of the stuff that’s going on now is directly ripped off from his Beatle period. He’s always been a bit coy about his bass playing, but he’s a great, great musician.” When Rubin reveals the quote came from Lennon, McCartney seems surprised and touched. “That’s John?” he asks. “All right! Come on, Johnny! That’s beautiful. I hadn’t heard that before.” That could be because the ever-acerbic Lennon didn’t say it quite that way. The actual 1980 quote, as it appeared  in   Playboy , was, “Paul was one of the most innovative bass players ever. And half the stuff that is going on now is directly ripped off from his Beatles period. He is an egomaniac about everything else about himself, but his bass playing he was always a bit coy about.” ( Playboy  interviewer David Sheff’s book,  All We Are Saying , restores an additional line:   “He is a great musician who plays the bass like few other people could play it.”) Whether on purpose or unintentionally, Rubin omitted the part about Paul being an egomaniac, which would have sapped some of the sweetness from the scene. […]

5 tour 321

I was re-watching some of McCartney 3,2,1 last night and that is an incredible watch. I don’t think it’s possible to be a music fan and to not just love hearing that man talk about those songs and your infectious enthusiasm for unpacking them, and your curious questions he’s clearly responding to you… It’s just such a gift to the world that little six-part series… That’s me as a fan talking of course. What what did you get out of that experience, Rick? It was like a dream. I can’t believe it. I’m glad it was filmed because I wouldn’t have believed that it happened. I would have thought that I dreamed it. As a lifelong Beatles fan, I love the music more than anything. They’re by far my favorite group and to hear Paul tell the stories of how things happened and to be able to hear those stems that hadn’t left Abbey Road before, it was just spine chilling. I couldn’t believe it. You know at first it was intimidating but as soon as the music started playing, the music just takes over and I could feel he loved it as much as I did, you know. He’s a fan of it as much as I am and that’s the way it works. It’s like the people who make these things were making it out of love. It’s all fandom whether you’re in the audience or whether you’re making it. You’re making this thing that you love and then you get to share it and once you’ve made it and now especially, in the Beatles case 50 years later, I don’t think that Paul has much opportunity… I don’t think he’s ever gone back and listened to individual stems before… Why would he? He’s making it again, he’s always moving forward, he’s always making new music. So it allowed him to experience, you know, when you hear one part… It could open a door in him that hasn’t been opened in 50 years and that’s really exciting and I think he was surprised by it. He seemed genuinely excited by what he was hearing and really having fun. You said the word ‘intimidating’ a minute ago, why? Say more about that… There are certain artists who are so great, and I think of Paul as one, I think of Neil as one, that… I remember the first time I got to see Paul McCartney playing live… It was in the stadium 70 or 80,000 people and he came out and he started, whatever the first song, it was a classic Beatles song, I can’t remember which one and immediately I started crying and I couldn’t believe that the person who made the music that I’ve been listening to since I was a tiny child, that that person walks the planet. How can the person who wrote and sang those songs that have been so ubiquitous in my life, how can he exist? Because in my world The Beatles are a myth, it’s mythology, it’s Mount Olympus. This was not even meeting them, this was just being one of 80,000 people hearing them sing, yeah it was completely overwhelming. So now years later, the initial feeling is always like “oh it’s that guy who did all those things” but then very quickly you realize, when I meet young artists, sometimes they treat me with some trepidation, and I was just like “fine we’re all just people, it’s all fine” and it turns into that fast but when you first meet someone like that, the legend looms large. So it looms large with Neil, it looms large with Paul and they’re a bunch of artists where it’s just like “I can’t believe it”. I’m kind of thrilled to hear that, because you’ve worked with so many great artists and I guess at a certain level, whether it happens quickly or takes a while, you realize that it is people trying to do good work and you’re, as a producer, trying to help bring that out of them, but yeah I’m thrilled to hear that you had that with Paul and there’s some moments early on, in this series, where you’re sitting cross-legged on the ground, Paul is there with an acoustic guitar showing you how certain songs go, and I’m knowing that you are a lifelong Beatles fan, I was wondering if there was times during those moments in particular where you’re… It’s almost like the teacher/student kind of thing, he’s on a high, you’re on the low, were there moments where you were momentarily transported back to your childhood, where you were just studying those records and absorbing them into your life? It was an amazing moment because nothing that you see was planned, nothing that happened was planned. So he volunteered to play something and that’s where the guitar was, so he went there and he sat down in the chair to play the guitar, because the guitar didn’t have the strap, so naturally you would sit. And I was standing and it felt awkward, I just felt awkward standing up with him sitting and playing so I moved some stuff around and sat on the floor because it just felt right for us to be closer, I didn’t want to be looking down on him, and it felt like a student watching the teacher and it wasn’t intentional, but clearly that’s what happened. I also just loved how you were grilling him on the bass line, you isolated the bass and you’re like “dude explain this to me, I don’t understand, how did this come to be” and he was like “I don’t know, it’s just what felt right on the day” Yeah because if you listen to the song without the bass line, it’s a very simple folk song. But the bass line makes it the Beatles something and one of the greatest songs ever recorded, and the bass is doing the work of a whole orchestra and I never heard anyone play bass like that before. Yeah that series is a gift and I’m pleased that it had an effect on you I’m just curious, was that filmed all in one day and kind of cut into little bits and pieces? Two days. I think there’s nine hours of of us talking. Incredible, how do you think about those two days in hindsight? It’s still hard for me to believe that it exists. Again I’m happy that there’s a record of it. Rick Rubin – Interview with The Australian, January 13, 2023

Watching episodes July 17. So terrific! Have loved the Beatles since 1966. I was 13. My mom was a classical pianist. I couldn’t ever play well enough, but appreciated the skill. I am so glad I can hear Paul talk about how he and the lads would create their music and the influences that helped to create their songs. How fortunate they had mentoring by George Martin and their collaborations. Being able to bring in professional classical musicians to take his musical ideas and produce the music was magical. This project has added to my appreciation and understanding why Paul McCartney’s music will live on forever. I always knew he was a creative genius because my mom was one, but she never got to reach to the stars Thank you so much for putting this project together. and thank you for giving me a lifetime of joy with your music.

Thanks for those kind words, Mary!

Such an excellent production! I so loved hearing the inside stories of the songwriting, the studio sessions and the fresh genius that all the Beatles seemed to share. Would love to see more, but maybe more would still not be enough!

'Error 321': Chicago QR code mural links to 'Tortured Poets' and Taylor Swift

5 tour 321

We are only three nights away from the world premiere of Taylor Swift's "The Tortured Poets Department," and Swifties are going wild over a new mural that appeared in Chicago Monday evening.

Painters were seen on a green scissor lift in the River North district ( 25 W Grand Ave, Chicago, IL 60654 ) of the Windy City creating a QR code out of "ttpd" letters and "13" numbers. When people scanned the code with their phone cameras, it took them to a 13 second YouTube short attached to Swift's page. A line of Swifties stood from the curb below to capture photos and videos and plaster them over TikTok.

The YouTube short animates like a typewriter with the message "Error 321" and a faded "13."

Two hours before the Grammys where Swift announced her 11th era album, her website, taylorswift.com , showed an "Error 321" message and included the scrambled phrase "red herring." There was also a "DPT," which backwards is "TPD" for Tortured Poets Department. Swift loves to create buzz with cryptic messages and Easter eggs ahead of an album release, because she knows a mural in Chicago with a QR code to YouTube will keep Swifties guessing and anticipating the Eras Tour performer's next move.

The album comes out at midnight ET overnight Thursday.

A Complete Tour of American's A321T — First, Business and Economy

aa-1

American is in fierce competition with Delta, JetBlue and United to become the reigning lie-flat champion between New York and San Francisco/Los Angeles — so we asked TPG Contributor Kevin Song , an AAdvantage Executive Platinum elite, to take a closer look at the carrier's Airbus A321T, the only aircraft to offer a three-class configuration on these domestic transcon routes.

Earlier this year, I flew on American's A321T from Los Angeles (LAX)-New York-JFK, bumping myself from business to first with a systemwide upgrade. Having already flown economy and business on this route, this flight was my chance to check out American's transcon first — and I even had a brief stint flying way up front.

5 tour 321

SAAver Redemptions for the A321T

Average one-way prices for transcon routes aboard American's A321T are about $1,900 in first class, $1,600 in business and $240 in economy. Since the routes span about 2,500 miles' worth of the continental United States, though, they make for a great mileage redemption value. SAAver level award seats on the A321T can be difficult to find, but if you're lucky, you can redeem for 12,500 AAdvantage miles each way in economy, 25,000 each way in business or 32,500 each way in first class ( these amounts will increase on March 22, 2016 ).

5 tour 321

First Class

First class aboard the A321T has 10 lie-flat seats in a 1-1 configuration of five rows. Each seat has 62 inches of pitch and is 21 inches wide, with a bed length of 82.5 inches. Though it's the only first class you'll find on a domestic transcon route, it doesn't afford you all that much unless you 1) want a slightly improved meal service over transcon business and/or 2) really hate sitting next to someone. In fact, if you're traveling with a companion on this route, I'd highly recommend you opt for business class, as you'll be able to talk to him or her much more easily.

To read more about what it's like to actually fly first class on the A321T, be sure to see TPG's review .

5 tour 321

The seat really is above and beyond most domestic products — in fact, the first-class seat here is actually pretty much identical to the well-touted business class seat on American's internationally configured Boeing 777-300ER (77W). For additional privacy, each first-class seat is angled away from the aisle and toward the windows.

5 tour 321

The at-seat space is large enough that you won't need to move your drinks and personal items each time you want to get up. To the left, there's a console with a power plug, AV ports, USB connectors and a seat control where you can adjust and recline. The main 15.4-inch personal entertainment screen pops out, so it needs to be stowed during take-off and landing, and a smaller fixed secondary entertainment screen can be used to control your media without reaching toward the touch screen.

5 tour 321

At the foot of the seat, you'll find an ottoman, as well as a cubby that's large enough to store shoes, a small bag, your comforter, etc. I was able to stretch out comfortably, but I'm not particularly tall — taller people might have some issues.

5 tour 321

I flew this route four times over the spring and summer and on each flight, first class was filled with children and families — though this might very well be related to school vacation schedules. I never did see an animal on board , even though the A321T's first class includes a "pet cabin." In reality, this is merely an unpadded closet with an air vent and oxygen mask — more utilitarian than luxurious. The flight attendants on this particular flight weren't even aware this space was intended for pets until I pointed out the oxygen mask in the compartment.

Business Class

The A321T's business class has 20 seats in 2-2 configuration of five rows. Each seat has 58 inches of pitch and is about 19 inches wide, with a bed length of between 75 and 78 inches. More comfortable than private, each business-class seat is angled away from the center, so when you're slightly reclined, you can't directly see your neighbor. The A321T's business class offers the same amenity kit, Bose headphones, personal entertainment screen, connectivity ports and power outlets as you'll find in the A321T's first class.

5 tour 321

Each business-class seat has its own 15.4-inch fixed-screen personal entertainment system that can be used for the entire flight, including during take-off and touchdown. There isn't quite as much at-seat space to store personal belongings as you'll find around the first-class seat, but there's an area designed to hold your smartphone and a small shelf under the entertainment screen where you can keep something small like a book or digital tablet.

5 tour 321

Having now flown both business and first on this aircraft, I feel there's not much reason to pay for the A321T's first class. I'd only consider splurging on first if I was dead set on avoiding possible interaction with my fellow passengers for the entire trip.

5 tour 321

The A321T's business class certainly offers less privacy than its first class — the walls around the seat aren't particularly high, so people walking in the aisle can easily see everything you do — but the seat itself is really comfy and has all the bells and whistles I'd look for in first class.

Be sure to check out Eric Rosen's business class review on the A321T for more details.

Economy Class — Main Cabin and Main Cabin Extra

The A321T's economy cabin includes 72 new slimline seats — 36 premium-economy Main Cabin Extra and 36 standard-economy Main Cabin. Both types of economy seats are 18 inches wide, but Main Cabin seats have between 31-32 inches of pitch, while Main Cabin Extra offers about five extra inches of legroom.

5 tour 321

Rather than a separate class of service, Main Cabin Extra is preferred seating that you can either purchase (on transcon flights, we're talking about $100 additional each way), or receive as an elite benefit. Beyond extra legroom and Group 1 boarding, there are exactly zero service differences between Main Cabin and Main Cabin Extra — but on a nearly six-hour flight, those five inches of extra legroom can be really beneficial.

To see what it's like to fly in these Main Cabin Extra seats, be sure to see my A321T JFK-LAX review.

5 tour 321

Though the seatback pockets of the new slimline Main Cabin seats are able to hold less than the old seats, they're designed to be more durable and allow you to easily see your personal items.

The bulkhead row has virtually unlimited legroom, so if you're exceptionally tall, it's a great option. As with all bulkheads, though, you sacrifice the ability to place items underneath the seat in front of you, and your tray table will be in the armrest, slightly reducing your seat width.

5 tour 321

All seats in the Main Cabin and Main Cabin Extra feature power outlets, 8.9-inch seatback touch-screens and in-flight entertainment systems — though be aware that even in Main Cabin Extra, entertainment isn't free. Underneath each seat is an entertainment/media box that takes up a considerable amount of room, so it's unlikely that you'll be able to use this space to store a larger carry-on.

5 tour 321

Bottom Line

American's new Airbus A321T is a pretty awesome plane, and the only aircraft to feature a three-cabin configuration on domestic transcontinental routes. Each cabin has a very distinct feel, but the negligible differences between first and business class might not be enough to justify the increased cost.

After flying on this plane and route in all three cabins, I plan to fly only its business class in the future, which I feel delivers a good balance between cost and comfort. Plus, on light travel days, AAdvantage Executive Platinum elites have access to complimentary upgrades to business and other elites can use 500-mile upgrades just as they would on any other domestic route. Section 321 reviews.

When you're at a Cleveland Browns game, it won't take you long to figure out which sections are the Dawg Pound. Look towards the East endzone and you'll normally see a large contingent of jersey-wearing masked fans standing and cheering loudly. The Dawg Pound at Browns Stadium is located in both the lower and mezzanine levels in the following sections: Lower 118-122 Mezzanine 317-323 Guests seated in the Lower Dawg Pound will have a bleacher seat with back support. Many fans - especially those in the first 20 rows - stand for large portions of the game. Those in 300-level sections will have a traditional stadium seat and the experience is usually less rowdy when compared to the lower level.

Mezzanine Level

The Mezzanine Level at Cleveland Browns Stadium is the name given to 300-level sections that do not have club access. On the Browns Seating Chart, this includes sections 317-323 and 340-350. These seats are popular among fans who want to avoid the upper deck but don't want to pay the high prices found in the lower level and in the club level. All Mezzanine Level sections have an elevated view from the endzone or in the corner. These seats also have the best views of the stadium's two primary scoreboards. Additional Notes: Sections 317-323 are part of the Dawg Pound Barstool seats are found at the top of 317-321 and 349-350

Mezzanine Level Endzone

Mezzanine Level Endzone sections offer the highest views from behind the endzones, but are still located on the second seating at Browns Stadium. With the large videoboards above each of the endzones, fans will have great views of replays and highlights, which will help keep you involved in action as the ball moves to the opposite end of the field. Sections on the east side of the mezzanine level endzone are part of the “Dawg Pound” which is where you will find some of the most devoted Cleveland Browns football fans.  Another notable aspect to the east endzone on the Mezzanine Level is the Bud Light Party Deck section (317A). Fans here will be close to a number of bars and a plethora of televisions broadcasting those important fantasy football updates.

The First Look: Zurich Classic of New Orleans

The First Look

Change Text Size

It’s time to team up.

The Zurich Classic of New Orleans is the lone two-man team event on the PGA TOUR schedule and boasts plenty of the game’s best, with five of the top 15 players in the Official World Golf Ranking heading to TPC Louisiana.

This is the seventh year the tournament has been played as a team event, with each duo playing Four-ball (also known as best ball) in the first and third rounds, and Foursomes (alternate shot) for the second and fourth rounds.

With Presidents Cup pairs, Ryder Cup heroes, twins, fan favorites, college teammates, and more joining forces in NOLA it should be a special week.

This week marks the second of three events to earn points towards the Aon Swing 5 and Aon Next 10 as we inch closer to the next Signature Event on the PGA TOUR schedule – the Wells Fargo Championship in two weeks.

Here’s everything you need to know as the TOUR returns to New Orleans.

FIELD NOTES: Rory McIlroy will make his tournament debut alongside good pal, Ryder Cup teammate, and Irishman Shane Lowry – a duo that was firmed up during a celebratory lunch after the Ryder Cup last fall… Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele will try to reprise their 2022 win here. Cantlay and Schauffele have both the Foursomes and Four-ball scoring records at this event… Davis Riley and Nick Hardy will defend their 2023 title. No team has gone back-to-back… Three sets of brothers (and two sets of twins!) will play together with twins Rasmus and Nicolai Højgaard and Parker and Pierceson Coody in the field along with Alex and Matt Fitzpatrick . Alex Fitzpatrick and Rasmus Højgaard are sponsor invites… Billy Horschel , who won last week at the Corales Puntacana Championship, will be without his previous partner Sam Burns, as Burns and his wife are expecting their first child any day. Horschel will instead be paired with fellow University of Florida alum Tyson Alexander . Horschel has won the Zurich Classic when it was both an individual and team event… Other notable pairings include Collin Morikawa and Kurt Kitayama, Sahith Theegala and Will Zalatoris , and Nick Taylor and Adam Hadwin. The Canadian duo finished runner-up a year ago and would like nothing more than to show Presidents Cup International Team captain Mike Weir how well they play together… Steve Stricker will play his second TOUR event this season (after earning his way into THE PLAYERS Championship), teaming up with Matt Kuchar. Stricker has four top-10s in five events on PGA TOUR Champions this season… Other sponsor exemptions include the South African pairing of Aldrich Potgieter and Thriston Lawrence . Potgieter, the winner of The Amateur Championship last year (the second youngest winner in the tournament’s history) won The Bahamas Great Abaco Classic on the Korn Ferry Tour earlier this season – the youngest winner in Korn Ferry Tour history. Lawrence, who has two runner-up finishes on the DP World Tour this season, made his 2024 TOUR debut last week at Corales (MC)… Jason Dufner and Kevin Chappell, Kevin Tway and Kelly Kraft, and Brandon Wu and James Nicholas are the other sponsor invites.

SIGNATURE EVENT STORYLINES: The next Signature Event on the schedule is the Wells Fargo Championship… With his win at the Corales Puntacana Championship, Horschel tops the Aon Swing 5, which continues this week in New Orleans… Wesley Bryan, Tway, Charley Hoffman and Justin Lower make up the rest of the Aon Swing 5… The final event of the Aon Swing 5 prior to Quail Hollow is THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson… Justin Thomas’ T5 was his first top-10 finish on TOUR since February and in the process he moved from No. 14 to No. 6 in the Aon Next 10… Jake Knapp (No. 7) and Christiaan Bezuidenhout (No. 8) got bumped a spot. Austin Eckroat remained at No. 9 while Peter Malnati moved to No. 10. He leads No. 11 – Thomas Detry – by just 73 points… Ludvig Åberg remains on top of the Aon Next 10 followed by Matthieu Pavon . Zalatoris, Stephan Jaeger and Akshay Bhatia round out the rest of the Aon Next 10.

COMCAST BUSINESS TOUR TOP 10 UPDATES: With his fourth win in his last five TOUR starts, a three-shot triumph at the RBC Heritage, Scottie Scheffler remained atop the standings. Scheffler was the first player ranked No. 1 in the Comcast Business TOUR TOP 10 to win the RBC Heritage and now leads by 2,023 points – the largest lead with 15 weeks left in the Regular season (since 2009)… Thanks to his solo second at the RBC Heritage, Theegala moved up to No. 4 in the Comcast Business TOUR TOP 10. Cantlay finished T3 at Harbour Town and rose 13 spots from No. 23 to No. 10 in the standings. Cantlay was the only new entrant into the TOUR TOP 10 after last week… Chris Kirk and Byeong Hun An are the only two to remain in the TOUR TOP 10 every week so far this season.

FEDEXCUP: Winner receives 400 FedExCup points.

72-HOLE RECORD: 258, Hardy/Riley (2023)

FOURSOMES (ALTERNATE SHOT) RECORD: 63, Hadwin/Taylor (4th round, 2023), Cantlay/Schauffele (Round 2, 2023)

FOUR-BALL (BEST BALL) RECORD: 59, Cantlay/Schauffele (1st round, 2022).

LAST TIME: Riley and Hardy each won for the first time on the PGA TOUR. They birdied four of their final six holes – highlighted by Riley’s 30-foot birdie bomb on 17 – to win by two over Hadwin and Taylor. Riley and Hardy started the final round three shots back but fired a 7-under 65 in Foursomes to end the week with a new tournament scoring record of 30-under 258. Taylor and Hadwin, who grew up playing the same course near Vancouver, tied the Foursomes record of 9-under 63 (set earlier in the week by Cantlay and Schauffele) to zip into second alone. Wyndham Clark and Beau Hossler, the 54-hole leaders, finished third, while Schauffele and Cantlay tied for fourth with Matthew NeSmith and Taylor Moore.

Frankie Capan III shoots 58, breaks Scottie Scheffler's record at Veritex Bank Championship on Korn Ferry Tour

Capan had the chance to go even lower at texas rangers golf club on thursday.

frankie-capan-iii-korn-fery-tour-g.jpg

During a time in golf when seemingly every ranking and record belongs to Scottie Scheffler, one no longer does. Frankie Capan III fired a 13-under 58 in Round 1 of the Korn Ferry Tour's Veritex Bank Championship on Thursday to clip Scheffler's low mark at at Texas Rangers Golf Club in Arlington, Texas, by one. The world No. 1's 59 had stood as the course benchmark for four years.

The 24-year-old began his day with a par before rattling off four straight birdies to get his round rolling in the right direction. He remained at 4 under up until the par-5 9th where the big bird landed and allowed Capan to turn in 6-under 29. The eagle at the turn jump started Capan's round and was the appetizer for a back nine to remember.

Birdies from the blade of Capan came on the next seven (!) holes, getting him to 13 under on the par-71 layout with two holes remaining. After playing the stretch from Nos. 9-16 in 9 under, Capan still faced the chance to pick off a couple more, especially with a closing par 5 on deck.

ANOTHER birdie for @FrankieCapan 🔥 Frankie needs to play his last three holes at even-par to shoot a 59 😮 pic.twitter.com/QnsedBopQV — Korn Ferry Tour (@KornFerryTour) April 25, 2024

The right hander carded his first par in a couple hours on the par-4 17th and was unable to put one last par breaker on his card after hitting his drive on the par-5 18th in the fairway bunker. Instead, Capan settled for par on the 18th and the second-ever 58 in Korn Ferry Tour history.

Capan's 58 adds to a growing list of sub-60 rounds on the Korn Ferry Tour over the last year. A couple months ago, Cristobol del Solar fired a 57 to set the record for the lowest round in a PGA Tour-sanctioned event. Aldrich Potgieter shot 59 later that same week in Colombia. In total, there have been 13 sub-60 rounds in the history of the Korn Ferry Tour with Capan's being the latest.

The world’s top-ranked golfer is dominating the PGA Tour. Scottie Scheffler won the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Monday morning following a weather delay and restart late Sunday—his fourth win in his last five starts. He added a tartan plaid jacket to his second green jacket at The Masters , which followed wins at The Players Championship and Arnold Palmer Invitational .

Scheffler carded an 8 under par 63 on Saturday to take a 1-stroke lead over Sepp Straka and 2 strokes ahead of his final round playing partner at The Masters, Collin Morikwa. Both those players shot a 1 over par 72 in the final round to fall back.

Scheffler entered Sunday’s final round as the -165 favorite on FanDuel Sportsbook to win the tournament with Straka and Morikawa both +650 and Masters runner-up Ludvig Aberg +1100 sitting 3 shots behind. Scottie was +450 to win at the start of the RBC Heritage .

Golf’s 27-year-old superstar was 3 under par through 11 holes Sunday and 19 under par with a 4-shot lead over six players when play was suspended before resuming 2 1/2 hours later at 7 p.m. ET. Scheffler played three more holes and took a 5-stroke lead into Sunday evening as play was suspended for darkness.

Early Monday he finished off the $20 million signature event with a 3-shot victory at 19 under par to earn another $3.6 million and take his season total to over $18 million. His bogey on the 18th hole ended a streak of 68 consecutive holes at par or better. Sahith Theegala finished second while Patrick Cantlay and Wyndham Clark T3 and Justin Thomas part of a 4-way tie for fifth.

Justin Ray, golf Lead Data Analyst, added a number of posts on X to show Scheffler’s run of dominance. Beyond Scottie being the last player since Tiger Woods in 2008 to win four times in a five-start stretch on the PGA Tour, this post about Scheffler holding the lead following a round 31 times on Tour the past three seasons speaks to Scottie’s spectacular play and dominance. The next closest player to have led or co-led following a round is 16 times.

Scheffler ramains the No. 1 ranked player in the Official World Golf Rankings for the 49th consecutive week. His win at Harbour Town was also the 10th of his career on Tour. It took him 51 tournaments to win his 10th PGA Tour title following his first win. Tiger Woods did it in 59 events with David Duval the fastest from wins 1 to 10 at 33 starts.

Scheffler’s strokes gained stats are simply staggering. Scheffler ranks No. 1 in SG: Total, Tee to Green, Approach, No. 2 Off the Tee and top-10 Around the Green. He’s continued to win despite ranking outside the top 150 in SG: Putting. Scheffler gained more than a stroke both off the tee and on approach shots in his first three rounds at Harbour Town. He has done this in 27.2% of his rounds over the last three seasons. The rest of the PGA Tour has done it 4.7% of the time.

Scheffler then finished off another victory with a strong performance on Sunday at Harbour Town that included this chip-in for eagle from 53 feet off the front right short rough on the Par 5 at hole No. 2.

He’s now played 40 rounds in 2024 and has yet to shoot a round over par. It’s 44 in a row dating back to last year’s Tour Championship in August. Tiger Woods currently holds the Tour record at 52 rounds shooting par or better, which he set during the 2000-01 season.

Scheffler’s desire to win and determination to be the best is shining through despite any pressure that may mount. He’s nearly locked up 2024 PGA Tour Player of the Year honors before the end of April, and commented on his play and performances following rounds 3 and 4 while dealing with any added pressure.

Internally, do you feel less pressure compared to a few months ago when you're out there playing?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: It's tough to answer. I mean, I talked about it a bit at the end of last week. I really love winning, and I don't really like losing at all. It's one of those things where I try to manage the expectations of myself, kind of get that stuff out of the way and then go out there and compete.

Scheffler also added 700 FedEx Cup Playoffs Points to his total by winning the Signature Event at the RBC Heritage. He tops the points list with 3,915 - more than double Wyndham Clark (1,892) with Xander Schauffele, Ludvig Aberg and Sahith Theegala next at more than 1,500 points.

Scheffler is scheduled to compete in the Wells Fargo Championship May 9-12 at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, NC - another $20 million Signature Event. He should be a first-time father by then with wife Meredith expecting their child very soon.

“I definitely will enjoy the birth of my first child, and my priorities will change very soon, so golf will be fourth in line, but I still love competing,” he said last Sunday in the Butler Cabin at The Masters .

He competed at the highest level again without a letdown to win the RBC Heritage. Scheffler will enter the next major as the +450 favorite at the PGA Championship May 16-19 at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, KY. FanDuel Sportsbook also has Scheffler at +6500 odds to win the Grand Slam and all four majors this year.

Scottie Scheffler is showing no signs of letdown and fans and bettors continue to support him despite ultra-low odds to win not seen since Tiger Wood’s dominance.

You can bet on it.

Rock trailblazer Heart reunites for a world tour and a new song

NEW YORK (AP) — Heart — the pioneering band that melds Nancy Wilson’s shredding guitar with her sister Ann’s powerhouse vocals — is hitting the road this spring and fall for a world tour that Nancy Wilson describes as “the full-on rocker size.”

“I’ve been strengthening. I’ve got my trainer,” she says. “You go one day at a time and you strengthen one workout session at a time. It’s a lot of work, but it’s the only job I know how to do.”

The Rock & Roll Hall of Famers who gave us classic tracks like “Magic Man,” “Crazy on You” and “Alone” will be playing all the hits, some tracks from of their solo albums — like Ann Wilson’s “Miss One and Only” and Nancy Wilson’s “Love Mistake” — and a new song called “Roll the Dice.”

“I like to say we have really good problems because the problem we have is to choose between a bunch of different, really cool songs that people love already,” says Nancy Wilson.

Like “Barracuda,” a sonic burst which first appeared on the band’s second album, “Little Queen” and is one of the band’s most memorable songs.

“You can’t mess with ‘Barracuda.’ It’s just the way it is. It is great. You get on the horse and you ride. It’s a galloping steed of a ride to go on. And for everybody, including the band.”

The tour kicks off Saturday at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina, and will hit cities including Atlanta, Boston, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Cleveland, Detroit, as well as the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado. International dates include stops in London, Oslo, Berlin, Stockholm, Montreal and Glasgow.

The band’s Royal Flush Tour will have Cheap Trick as the opening act for many stops, but Def Leppard and Journey will join for three stadium dates in Cleveland, Toronto and Boston this summer.

Ann and Nancy Wilson will be filled out by Ryan Wariner (lead and rhythm guitar), Ryan Waters (guitars), Paul Moak (guitars, keyboards and backing vocals), Tony Lucido (bass and backing vocals) and Sean T. Lane (drums).

The tour is the first in several years for Heart, which was rocked by a body blow in 2016 when Ann Wilson’s husband was arrested for assaulting Nancy’s 16-year-old twin sons. Nancy Wilson says that’s all in the past.

“We can take any kind of turbulence, me and Ann, and we’ve always been OK together,” she says. “We’re still steering the ship and happy to do it together. So we’re tight.”

The new tour will take them to Canada, which was warm to the band when they were starting out as what Nancy Wilson calls “a couple of chicks from Seattle.” She recalls Vancouver embracing Heart, and touring in one van across Canada in the dead of winter on two lane highways.

The Wilson sisters broke rock’s glass ceiling in the ‘70s and Nancy Wilson says they only had male influences to look to, like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and the Moody Blues.

Now she says she looks out and loves seeing generations of female rockers. “You have boygenius and you have Billie Eilish and you have Olivia Rodrigo and so many amazing women — Maggie Rogers and Sheryl Crow, who calls us her big influence. And then Billie Eilish might have Sheryl Crow as her influence. So it’s a really nice legacy to pass along. I like to say we’re the OG — the original gangsters — of women and rock.”

Heart has made it into the Rock Hall, won Grammys, sold millions of albums and rocked hundreds of thousands of fans but Nancy Wilson has one place she’d still like to shine.

Next year will mark the 50th anniversary of their debut album, “Dreamboat Annie,” which was the same year that “Saturday Night Live” started. “So we’re actually kind of putting it out there — Heart never played on ‘Saturday Night Live.’ But what about the 50th birthday party with Heart?”
