E Street has it all if you’re in the mood for a strong cup of coffee, a sweet piece of cake, or a filling meal. In need of some shopping? Head over to Dolmen Mall i n the Clifton area. The mall has a mix of local and international brands, food courts, a movie theatre, and even an indoor amusement park for kids. This place is perfect for shoppers and a great place to find some souvenirs.

Just a little heads-up, be mindful of where you’re stepping. The island’s got some sharp rocks, and you wouldn’t want to hurt your feet. A pair of covered sandals should do the trick .

Now, if you want to get a taste of the local vibe, I’d recommend trying out the street food in Mubarak Village before or after your island trip. There’s also another beach called French Beach , another fancy beach and a great place to visit in Karachi , which is located near Mubarak Village. It’s usually less crowded than the city beaches , and the sea views are mind-blowing.

10. Visit Bahria Adventure Land

If you’re looking for fun things to do in Karachi , Bahria Adventure Land should definitely be on your list. The ticket pricing of Bahria Adventure Land is based on height. If you’re taller than 4 feet 3 inches, you’d be going for the Green Ticket, which is Rs. 3000 . If your height falls between 2 feet 6 inches and 4 feet 3 inches, you’d get the Y ellow Ticket for Rs. 2000 . 

Once you’re there, get ready for a day of thrills and chills! From wild roller coasters to the more relaxed train ride , there’s something for everyone. Not only does it have thrilling rides and water features, but it also hosts a lively marching band and other attractions, which makes it one of the best places to visit in Karachi with friends .

One of the standout features, especially for kids, is the Dino Park . Another major attraction in Bahria Adventure Land is the Day and Night Zoo , also known as Danzoo . It’s the first of its kind in Pakistan, built to international standards. They have a good variety of both exotic and native animals.

There’s the ‘ Freak Out ‘ for the thrill-seekers, which swings you around with your legs dangling. If you’re into virtual fun, then ‘ Lazer Maze ‘ is right up your alley. You’ll have to navigate your way through a room filled with laser beams. They also have bumper cars and a carousel for good, old-fashioned fun, making Onederland a hit among the places to visit in Karachi with friends.

Apart from the rides, there’s a huge gaming zone with many arcade games . There’s also a soft play area for kids to run around and have a blast.

But the fun at Lucky One Mall doesn’t stop at Onederland. There’s a whole mall waiting to be explored! It’s a shopaholic’s dream, with many shops selling everything from clothes to electronics . The food court has a variety of restaurants, so you’re guaranteed to find something that tickles your taste buds. Karachi is the largest city in Pakistan and there are plenty of things to do in Karachi to keep you entertained when there. It’s the most diverse city in the country and has a different feel than the northern cities of Lahore and Islamabad.

Being a massive modern city (around 20 million people depending on who you believe) and the economic powerhouse of Pakistan it’s a place that needs to be explored to be seen.

It doesn’t have epic forts like Lahore or the nearby mountains of Islamabad, but it has its own unique charm where the old and modern collide.

The main areas of Karachi to explore if you are there for a few days are Clifton and Saddar and the places nearby.

Things to do in Karachi

Be aware that being a large, busy city you may get tired out after a few days there. If that’s the case then try and have a day just for beach time or relaxing around somewhere.

Historical Places in Karachi to Visit

Frere Hall in Karachi is an old colonial building built in 1865 that is now a library open to the public. It has around 70’000 books and amongst them are some rare manuscripts.

The building is beautiful and a well-known landmark of Karachi as well as the best colonial-era building to see. Inside it is a peaceful respite from the busy city.

Take some time to relax on a couch in the library and browse through their books. A must-visit if you are interested in old architecture and libraries.

Frere Hall is open from 9 am to 5 pm and if you’re looking for some history and peace then it makes for one of the best things to do in Karachi.

Empress Market Area

Empress market is also set in an old colonial building finished in 1889 and is now a busy, albeit small, market place nearby Jahangir Park.

It’s not the place to go for clothing or souvenir type things (visit the somewhat chaotic market areas to the south of Empress Market for that, such as Zainab Market), but sells fruit, vegetables, condiments, oils, textiles, etc.

The area used to be a lot more vibrant with over 1000 stalls and traders having their shops removed by the government for overcrowding in the area.

The government seems to be trying to gentrify the area but it’s still worth it to go there and have a look around, even if it isn’t the busy place it once was.

The whole area is worth visiting for a feeling of old Karachi, and many old buildings can be discovered, such as St Patrick’s Cathedral which is a ten-minute walk away.

Want a bit of hectic old Karachi? Then this area is one of the best things to do in Karachi for you.

Mazar-e-Quaid (Jinnah Mausoleum)

We didn’t get inside the mausoleum area but saw it from the streetside. It’s an impressive building and is the tomb of Pakistan’s founder, Jinnah.

If you want some of the history of Pakistan then this is one of the best places to visit in Karachi.

Side note: There are some ancient Hindu temples in Karachi that would be great to visit but they only allow Hindus inside, so unless you are Hindu don’t bother trying to see them.

Beaches in Karachi

As Karachi is by the sea there are plenty of beaches to visit by the city and slightly further afield. As the city is massive there is some pollution on the beaches closest to the city with lots of trash. Still, they’re worth seeing as a part of life in the city.

You will need your own transport to get out to the further away beaches.

Clifton Beach

Clifton Beach is the closest to the city and the one you should visit if you don’t have time for others.

Why visit? Don’t go for sunbathing and swimming that’s for sure as there is too much trash for that. It’s best to go there to see the local Karachiites gather on the beach for a sunset walk, a game of cricket, eat at food stalls on the beach, or take a camel or horse ride. It can all be seen.

It’s entertainment on the beach and for that is a must-see and one of the best things to do in Karachi for a locals perspective of city beach life.

Just don’t expect any privacy!

Turtle Beach

Turtle Beach is just down from HawksBay Beach and is a popular beach just like Clifton. It gets crowded, especially on the weekends, and there is a lot of trash.

It’s interesting to see local people out and about. just like Clifton Beach, but quieter. Maybe catch a beach cricket game but if you want some peace, this isn’t the place.

French Beach

I’m only mentioning French Beach here to give a warning. Don’t go! Not because it isn’t nice there, but because it is an exclusive place and you most likely won’t get in. It’s for the rich and influential.

We were told it’s one of the nicer beach areas for less crowds and cleanliness, and it is, and it’s like that because they don’t let people in. We were allowed to enter just for 30 minutes to take a look.

But what’s the point of a short time on a beach?

Mubarak Village Beach

Finally! Well, sort of. Around a one-hour drive from Turtle Beach is the small fishing village of Mubarak.

The main beach has some food sellers and lots of small fishing boats anchored by the beach.

It’s interesting to see but not the beach to swim on. Head south two hundred metres and you will find a long stretch of sand that will most likely have just a few people on it (that’s what it was like for us on a Saturday).

The beach doesn’t have that much trash in comparison to other beaches around Karachi and the water is clean to swim in.

You will get a lot more privacy here than anywhere else we saw, except French Beach where you can’t hang out anyway.

One other good option we were told to do but didn’t have time as it was late in the day is to go to Churna Island.

Churna Island is around 45 minutes by wooden boat from Mubarak Village and apparently has great scuba diving, snorkelling, and fishing.

Museums in Karachi

To be totally honest we didn’t get around to seeing any museums as we were so busy doing other things and spending time with family time during the one week we had there.

Having said that there are a bunch of museums in Karachi that were recommended for us to visit when we come again.

Mohatta Palace Museum

We really wanted to see this one but it was closed for the day when we tried to. Next time!

A rich Hindu businessman from India built it in 1925 and when India was partitioned the businessman remained in India and gave up his palace. Nowadays it’s a museum and looks impressive from the outside for sure, so the inside must be great as well.

National Museum of Pakistan

If you want to learn about the history and culture of Pakistan then this is the museum to go to, apparently.

Pakistan Air Force Museum

If you’re interested in military history then this museum has over 40 jets and planes that have been used by the Pakistan Air Force. This could be a potentially good destination if you have children.

Pakistan Maritime Museum

Another good option if you are with children or have an interest in naval history and boats. You can go inside a submarine here! It’s not too far from the Air Force museum so you could manage to do both.

Shopping in Karachi

Karachi is the shopping capital of Pakistan and shopping is one of the best things to do in Karachi simply for the amount you can do.

You will find almost anything you could want and there are so many places to go shopping, with the most fun being the local busy street markets.

Shopping is one of the best things to do in Karachi if you’re looking for some good deals on items.

The main street markets to visit in the centre of the city are many. Bolton Market is one option and the Zainab Market for cheap clothes etc near Empress Mall.

For more modern shopping the biggest mall in Pakistan is at the seaside by Clifton Beach, called Dolmen Mall. It stands in stark contrast from the street markets but it’s always good to check out both sides of a city.

Just be aware it’s expensive shopping!

The nearby area of Zamzama has many boutique shops for more shopping in the upper price category.

Tariq Road is also a good option for upmarket shopping in Karachi with boutique shops and malls.

But if you want to get lots of cheaper clothes, souvenirs, etc, then stick to the street markets in Karachi.

Food in Karachi

Now we’re talking! Eating is one of the best things to do in Karachi and the city is famous for its culinary choices.

Karachi is famous in Pakistan as a food city and there will be lots to choose from. The only warning is to be careful and choose busy and good places to eat as travellers getting a bad stomach from the water etc is a problem there.

Never drink tap water in Karachi!

Karachi Sweets

Karachi has some of the best sweets in Pakistan and there are plenty of places to choose from.

Delhi Sweets on the main Shahrah-e-Faisal road is one of the best in the city, especially for gulab jamun.

Rehmat-e-Shereen is another excellent bakery in Karachi worth going to and has the best overall sweet variety we found.

Get a takeaway box with different types of sweets to try.

Karachi Biryani

Sindh province of Pakistan, of which Karachi is part, is known for its spicy biryani and a visit would not be complete without trying one.

In fact, having a biryani is one of the best things to do in Karachi as far as food goes!

There are lots of biryani places in Karachi, too many to mention here, but one piece of advice would be: if you get invited to someone’s home (Karachiites are very friendly) then go for it as homemade is the best!

Coffee Shops in Karachi

If you’re looking for some good coffee in Karachi then these coffee shops are the best ones to try. Many are in the Zamzama area in Clifton.

Butler’s Chocolate and Cafe has some of the best coffee and is a popular chain in Pakistan with outlets in numerous places. One is in Dolmen Mall and another is in Zamzama.

Esquires Coffee is nearby Butlers in Zamzama and has some great coffee and a relaxed vibe. There is also one in Dolmens Mall but the Zamzama one is better for the atmosphere.

Floc – for the love of coffee, is also in the Zamzama area and worth checking out.

What better way once you’ve had a coffee fix than to take a short walk? Nearby Zamzama Park is perfect for that.

Long story short: if you want great coffee shops in Karachi then head to Zamzama.

Head To The Port Area

The seaside is a popular place to go not just for beaches but also for the port settings, such as Port Grand.

At Port Grand, you can walk along the jetty and munch on traditional snacks from the stalls and have a nice meal at a restaurant. It’s also good to bring children as there is a children’s entertainment area as well as a cinema.

Getting Around in Karachi

The absolute best way for transport in Karachi is to use Careem or InDrive, the local version of Uber.

Download the app to your phone and order a car to get from place to place. It’s not that expensive and will generally be cheaper than trying to get a taxi on the street. It’s also very safe.

The other fun option, if you’re not going long distances, is to take a local rickshaw but make sure you fix a price before leaving.

Don’t bother with the local buses they are overcrowded and uncomfortable.

Where to Stay in Karachi

There are so many neighbourhoods to stay in Karachi, but as a visitor, your best bet will be to stay in Clifton as it’s a central location for visiting the main sites and is also a safe place to be.

As the perhaps most iconic beach in Pakistan, Clifton Beach sums up Karachi like no other place does. As soon as you step on the smooth sand, you’ll be greeted by colorfully decorated camels and men selling corn and other snacks directly by the water. Some may argue that Clifton Beach is too crowded and polluted, but there’s no doubt that this charming beach is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Karachi.

The most popular activities at Clifton include horse rides, camel rides, and ATV drives. While certainly iconic, these activities are unfortunately ripe with scams. Therefore it’s imperative that before climbing on the camel, you agree on a price per round and define what a ’round’ even is. Refuse to go any further than you previously agreed on.

Mohatta Palace

Mohatta Palace is a grandiose sandstone mansion that was first constructed in 1927 and served as the residence of Hindu businessman Shivratan Mohatta until the partition of Pakistan and India. The mansion was then inhabited by Fatima Jinnah (sister of the Quaid-e-Azam) and later her sister. Nowadays, Mohatta Palace houses a small ethnographic museum showcasing the cultural diversity of Pakistan’s different ethnic groups with an emphasis on Sindhi culture. Burns Road Food Street

If I had to choose one favorite place in Karachi, I’d definitely go for Burns Road. You may not discover the beauty of this chaotic market street at the first sight, but once your tongue touches one of the mindblowing street foods sold there, you’ll find out why Burns Road food street is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Karachi. Come with an empty stomach, bring along a group of friends, and indulge in all the delicious Karachi specialties that are sold in Burns Road.

Unfortunately, eating street foods is oftentimes a major transmission route for foodborne diseases. Therefore, I advise you to stay away from any foods involving water, ice, or raw ingredients if you have a weak stomach.

How to get to Burns Road: Due to the congestion of the road, going by rickshaw is the best way to get to Burns Road. Just tell your driver you want to go to Burns Road Food Street.

Sandspit Beach

Clifton Beach is awesome, but sometimes, we don’t want to be surrounded by loud crowds of tourists and vendors. We want to enjoy a relaxing day by the sea where we can just lie in the sand, have a nice picnic, and have fun in the sea without any worries. In that case, it’s worth taking the longer route to Sandspit Beach, a beautiful and quiet beach in Karachi. Together with similarly calm beaches, like Hawke’s Bay Beach and Turtle Beach, Sandspit Beach is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Karachi if you simply want to get away from the noise of the city. Popular activities at Sandspit Beach involve horse rides, camel rides, and speed boat rides.

Although the area around Sandspit Beach is relatively safe and relaxed, the general rules still apply: dress modestly (a.k.a. no bikinis), be aware of scams, and never leave your belongings unattended. For an even more relaxed atmosphere, try booking a private beach resort in advance.

How to get to Sandspit Beach: Due to the remoteness of the beach, it’s best to hire a driver for the entire trip. Whether it’s someone you know personally or a Careem driver, negotiating a deal with the driver will not only save you money but also save you from potentially getting stranded since the area isn’t covered by Careem.

Dolmen Mall

Not far from Clifton Beach lies Dolmen Mall, an aesthetically designed medium-sized shopping mall, offering a variety of Pakistani and international clothing brands, gift shops, and more. While the selection of stores is rather basic and can be found at any other mall in Pakistan, it’s the ambiance that makes Dolmen Mall one of the most beautiful places to visit in Karachi. From its location by the sea to the beautiful flower-themed decorations covering the mall’s walls and ceilings, there are many small elements that make Dolmen Mall the perfect place to hang out alone or with friends.

If you’re in the mood for big shopping, I recommend a visit to Lucky One Mall instead. Located at the other end of town, Lucky One is the biggest mall in South Asia where you can likely find everything you’re looking for.

How to get to Dolmen Mall: Call a Careem. There are many entrances, so be aware of where to meet your driver on your way back.

Lastly, how could I compile a list of the most beautiful places to visit in Karachi without mentioning Do Darya? Be wary of those temptingly delicious street foods. If your stomach isn’t used to Pakistani hygiene standards, you’ll likely get sick at one point or another.

Lastly, avoid crowds since they can not only increase the risk of pickpocketing and sexual harassment but also the transmission of infectious diseases, such as COVID-19.

I have to be honest I had never ever thought of Pakistan as a place to visit. And the more I was reading about Karachi, the more I was seeing places that ticked my fancy – Clifton beach looks lush, Mazar-e-Quaid is stunning and then the market 😍 I love markets. Every other mall you visit, there is always something ready to be launched. From restaurants to play areas, there are so many new places to visit in Karachi.

Here is a list of some of the new places to visit in Karachi:-

Sindbad Extreme Dolmen Mall Clifton

If you have already been to the second floor of Onderland in Lucky One Mall, you will get an idea of Sindbad Extreme.

It looks super fun for tweens and teens and even grown-ups who just want to chill out with their buddies.

Bowling, bumper cars, more arena games, Sindbad extreme is sure to promise more fun to the people of Karachi.

Topsy Turvy Ocean Mall

I recently attended a birthday party there and my little one really enjoyed it.

Although this one is especially for kids aged 2.5 to 5, I really liked the entire set up, the cleanliness and the large jungle gym which looks pretty safe.

The staff is very friendly and have their eyes on kids at all times.

I would highly recommend Topsy Turvy if you are planning a birthday for your little one.

Baskin Robbins

For those who have a sweet tooth and if you are wanting to try out something new, Baskin Robbins will be a good option. The world-famous ice cream parlor is now finally here in Karachi and people can’t help raving about it.

There are usually very long queues so avoid going on the weekends.

Although its a bit pricey as compared to our local ice cream brands, sometimes a little treat for yourself won’t do much harm.

Dinoadventureland

The first indoor theme park in Karachi.

Dinoadventureland is in the Forum Clifton and Saima Mall near Rashid Minhas Road.

If you haven’t been there with your kids you can make plans for the coming weekend. Kids will enjoy it as they have made some really interactive dinosaur models with sounds and movements.

And if your kids enjoyed Jurassic World, Dinoadventureland will surely be a treat for them.

Nueplex Cinema Rashid Minhas

Your list of fun places to visit in Karachi cannot be complete unless you go out to watch a movie with friends and family.

After the huge success of Nueplex cinema in Defence Phase 8, their latest branch on Rashid Minhas road has got more audience flocking in to watch movies with surround sound, bigger screens, and safer environment.

Being the founder of the nation, Quaid-e-Azam’s personal history and life wholly meshed with the history of the country itself. Visit this museum to embark on that quest or to admire the colonial building and the peaceful gardens around it.

Turtle spotting at Turtle Beach

Not only are winters a great time to visit Karachi because of its mild cold weather, but also because it’s the time when you can spot turtles at Turtle Beach. This beach is home to green sea turtles that come out to lay their eggs in the sands. It’s also a good picnic spot.

Dating back to 1865, the Frere Hall building recalls the time when Pakistan was a part of the Indian British colony. Surrounded by lush green gardens, today, the building serves as a library and an art gallery. Designed by Henry Saint Clair Wilkins, Frere Hall is located in the Saddar district, which is also home to many other picturesque colonial architecture.

If you like aircrafts and all things aeronautic, then the Pakistan Air Force Museum is a must-visit. It is home to many aircrafts, like planes and jets and radars and weaponry that have been used by the Pakistan Air Force throughout the years, especially during the 1965 war with India . Nearby, there are World War 1 and 2 scale models and some modern planes on the display as well. There are also food options in the main park and many places to relax in the gardens.

The Chaukhandi Tombs

History buffs will go gaga upon visiting this ancient graveyard and UNESCO World Heritage Site that houses tombs of the ancestors of a local tribe. The intricate make of these graves is its most attention-grabbing feature with carvings and designs typical of its region, Sindh. The origins of this necropolis are estimated to range between the 15th and 18th century.

Quaid’s Mausoleum

The pure white marble facade of the museum is not a sight to miss when in Karachi. The Mausoleum is a resting place for the country’s founder, or in Urdu Quaid, Mohammad Ali Jinnah. Its minimalist dome over a cube design was inspired by the Samanid Mausoleum in Uzbekistan.

The ruins of Bhambore

The prehistoric city of Bhambore dates back to the 1st century BC and was constructed during the Scytho-Parthian era. Later, from 8th to the 13th century, it was controlled by Muslims before being abandoned to date. The ruins and one of the earliest known mosques in the world, dating back to 727 AD, can still be found here.

The National Museum of Pakistan

This museum holds the most diverse range of art, from paintings to relics, sculptures and models that depict all the facets of Pakistani culture. This museum consists of 11 galleries that showcase artifacts from the Indus Valley Civilization up to modern times. It also boasts a large collection of coins and many rare manuscripts of the Quran.

Tooba Masjid

Also known locally as Gol, or round mosque, due to its large domed roof, Tooba Mosque is one of the city’s major attraction. The white marble dome is 236 feet in diameter and is balanced on a low surrounding wall with no centre pillars to support it. The mosque can hold a congregation of up to 5,000 people.

Empress Market

The Empress Market is a colourful but chaotic market that sells everything and anything. It’s a cool attraction to visit early in the morning to avoid rush hour. All imaginable groceries, live animals and pets, textiles, stationery and many other things can be bought in the foyers and interiors of this colonial-era structure. The building is named after the then Empress of India, Queen Victoria.

Pakistan Maritime Museum

This navel museum is among the city’s best attractions as it gives visitors a chance to see a real submarine, along with several aircrafts and different artillery of the yesteryears that were used by the Pakistan Navy. There is also a six-gallery indoor museum that educates visitors through murals, relief sculptures and dioramas.

Being among the few upscale open-air food establishments by the sea, Port Grand is a great place to try different cuisines that are offered by many of its restaurants and parlours, all the while viewing the sun as it sets into the ocean.

Ibn-e-Qasim Park

Set on 130 acres of land, this park is the largest in the city and is visited by over 10 million people each year. There is also a turtle pond and a rose garden found within its gates.

Do Darya is a local food lover’s paradise, built right along the seashore. There are numerous restaurants and cafes here to choose from, serving all types of fare.

Arabian Sea Country Club

For a quick getaway from the city centre, head to this golf course and sports club to try your hand at shooting or give horseback riding a go. Other facilities include cricket, squash, tennis, snooker and swimming.

Hindu Gymkhana

Other than being a spectacular colonial-era building, the Hindu Gymkhana is a sporty social club. It also hosts NAPA, or the National Academy of Performing Arts, an art school that also showcases plays for wider audiences. Check it out, whether it’s for a cup of tea in a vintage atmosphere or to attend a mesmerizing drama performance.

Cape Monze Beach

Cape Monze, or Mount, as it’s locally called, is a beach near Karachi surrounded by a hill where people can climb and get a great view of the horizon and the dark blue sea. It’s also home to endangered species like dolphins, whales and turtles.

Defence Authority Marina Club

There are plenty of not-to-miss activities to engage in at the Defence Authority Marina Club, including sailing, boat riding and dining. The club also has a sweet view of the sea and mangroves with birds like seagulls and herons flying by.

The creatures found in this territory are incredibly precious and rare – encompassing chinkara gazelles, feral cats, jackals, striped hyenas, wolves, and rare Sindh wild goats. The park offers a wide array of beauty and landscapes that depicts the rich culture of the province.

Moreover, the park, besides being one of the best weekend getaways near Karachi, also hosts several game reserves, including Surjan, Sumbak, Eri, and Hothiano, while Ranikot Fort is also located within Kirthar National Park. According to the visitors, the best time to visit Kirthar National Park is between October and March.

How to Get to Kirthar National Park?

Situated just 160 km from Karachi, Kirthar National Park is quite accessible via the Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway (M-9 Motorway). Reaching the park generally requires a 4×4 jeep to get across the rocky and uneven roads; meanwhile, a no-objection certificate from Sindh Wildlife Department is required to enter the park. Additionally, there are two main entrances to the park – Karchat, which requires a 4×4 jeep to access, while Khar doesn’t need a jeep. This route connects to a paved and clear route known as Kirthar Park Road.

Since the park is remote and extremely far from city life, exploring with a guided tour in larger groups is recommended. However, if you are feeling brave, you should take basic items along with you, especially a tent, to double the adventure.

Forget about islands and beaches, and experience taking a dip into the freshwater of Moola Chotak – a secret waterfall oasis situated in Moola Valley, Khuzdar. The crystal blue water of the oasis of Moola Chotak (often spelled as Moola Chotok) is encircled with various wonders of nature, rocky cliffs, green rocks, and steep ravines.

How to Get to Moola Chotak?

Planning a trip to Moola Chotak alone – one of the wonders in Balochistan – is not really a problem if you’re booking a seat with guided tours. However, if you’re travelling on your own, you will need to comprehend the route and tag a good number of people with you. Do not forget to load your bags with basic amenities such as food, prescribed medicine, sunscreen, trekking gear, and a first-aid kit. The water in the valley is fresh and clean, and you do not need to take water with you if you don’t mind drinking straight from the oasis – but you’ll definitely need some bottles en route.

Moving forward, for enjoying the wonders of Moola Valley by travelling from Karachi, you will need to drive across Quetta Highway to Khuzdar. From Khuzdar, you can rent a 4×4 jeep until the base of the hill. Then, you will have to take out that trekking kit and prepare yourself for a 10-minute hike until the beautiful valley reveals itself to you. Safe to say – Moola Chootak is undoubtedly one of the best tourist destinations near Karachi.

Lahore, Karachi get day off on Iran President's visit to avoid 'inconvenience'

Currently, the Iranian president is in Pakistan from April 22 to April 24 (Wednesday) for an official visit. He would also visit Lahore and Karachi and meet with the provincial authorities, according to the Foreign Office

In anticipation of international dignitaries, including Iranian President Dr. Ebrahim Raisi, visiting the Lahore region on April 23, the Punjab government on Monday declared a municipal holiday.

Currently, the Iranian president is in Pakistan from April 22 to April 24 (Wednesday) for an official visit. He would also visit Lahore and Karachi and meet with the provincial authorities, according to the Foreign Office.

Tuesday in the Karachi division is a public holiday, as declared by the Sindh government a day before.

In light of the foreign officials’ planned visit, the Punjab government announced today that April 23 would be observed as a local holiday in the Lahore district.

“This holiday will be observed only in the Lahore district and its subordinate offices,” the statement said, adding that the holiday would not apply to the Punjab Civil Secretariat, its attached departments and regional offices.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, meantime, stated that the two nations had decided to raise their trade volume to $10 billion, calling the current rate “not acceptable,” during a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad.

This is the first visit of this kind by a head of state since the general elections on February 8.

In the meantime, in accordance with Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, the Sindh government on Monday enforced a total ban on drones in the Karachi division from April 22 to April 28 with immediate effect.

The district administration may issue orders under Section 144 that prohibit certain activities for a predetermined amount of time if they serve the public interest.

In response to “serious threats to vital installations by the anti-state elements/hostile agencies in the wake of recent attacks on foreigners,” the city’s additional inspector general of police requested a seven-day drone ban in Karachi, according to a notification released by the office of Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi.

In addition, the notification stated that there were good reasons to move forward with the use of drones under Section 144, “to avoid any untoward incident and for the safety and security of vital installations.”

Additionally, it permitted station house officials of the relevant police stations to file written complaints under Pakistan Penal Code Section 188 (disobedience to an order properly promulgated by a public servant) about violations of Section 144.

Automatic Refunds and No More Hidden Fees: D.O.T. Sets New Rules for Airlines

The Transportation Department issued new requirements on refunds when flights are canceled or delayed and on revealing “junk” fees before booking. Here’s what passengers can expect.

The Transportation Department on Wednesday announced new rules taking aim at two of the most difficult and annoying issues in air travel: obtaining refunds and encountering surprise fees late in the booking process.

“Passengers deserve to know upfront what costs they are facing and should get their money back when an airline owes them — without having to ask,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg in a statement, adding that the changes would not only save passengers “time and money,” but also prevent headaches.

The department’s new rules, Mr. Buttigieg said, will hold airlines to clear and consistent standards when they cancel, delay or substantially change flights, and require automatic refunds to be issued within weeks. They will also require them to reveal all fees before a ticket is purchased.

Airlines for America , a trade group representing the country’s largest air carriers, said in a statement that its airlines “abide by and frequently exceed” D.O.T. consumer protection regulations.

Passenger advocates welcomed the new steps.

Tomasz Pawliszyn, the chief executive of AirHelp, a Berlin-based company that assists passengers with airline claims, called it a “massive step forward and huge improvement in consumer rights and protection” that brings the United States closer to global standards in passenger rights.

Here’s what we know about the D.O.T.’s new rules, which will begin to go into effect in October.

There’s now one definition for a “significant” delay.

Until now, airlines have been allowed to set their own definition for a “significant” delay and compensation has varied by carrier . Now, according to the D.O.T., there will be one standard: when departure or arrival is delayed by three hours for domestic flights and six hours for international flights.

Passengers will get prompt refunds for cancellations or significant changes for flights and delayed bags, for any reason.

When things go wrong, getting compensation from an airline has often required establishing a cumbersome paper trail or spending untold hours on the phone. Under the new rules, refunds will be automatic, without passengers having to request them. Refunds will be made in full, excepting the value of any transportation already used. Airlines and ticket agents must provide refunds in the original form of payment, whether by cash, credit card or airline miles. Refunds are due within seven days for credit card purchases and within 20 days for other payments.

Passengers with other flight disruptions, such as being downgraded to a lower service class, are also entitled to refunds.

The list of significant changes for which passengers can get their money back also includes: departure or arrival from an airport different from the one booked; connections at different airports or flights on planes that are less accessible to a person with a disability; an increase in the number of scheduled connections. Also, passengers who pay for services like Wi-Fi or seat selection that are then unavailable will be refunded any fees.

Airlines must give travel vouchers or credits to ticketed passengers unable to fly because of government restrictions or a doctor’s orders.

The vouchers or credits will be transferable and can be used for at least five years after the date they were issued.

Fees for checked baggage and modifying a reservation must be disclosed upfront.

Airlines and ticket agents are now required to display any extra fees for things like checking bags or seat selection clearly and individually before a ticket purchase. They will also need to outline the airline’s policies on baggage, cancellations and changing flights before a customer purchases a ticket.

The rules, which apply to all flights on domestic airlines and flights to and from the United States operated by foreign airlines, have varying start dates.

For example, automatic refunds must be instituted by the airlines within six months. But carriers have a year before they’re required to issue travel vouchers and credits for passengers advised by a medical professional not to fly.
