Ocean Safari off the Kona Coastline
The adventure begins the moment you set foot on our vessel! Our tours are set up safari-style which means from the start of the tour we are going to be scanning the gorgeous and dramatic coastline of Kona for any type of wildlife to observe and interact with. With the rapid and deep drop off of the sea floor along the coast, we have the potential to swim with shallow water animals as well as pelagic (deep, open ocean) marine life.
This tour’s focus is to find & observe wildlife and snorkeling is included. While nature is unpredictable and we cannot guarantee any specific interactions or observations, we have the potential to see sea turtles, various fish species, dolphin and whale species, sharks, and manta rays.
We’ll have four hours on the water to provide you with the best experience imaginable. We offer morning and afternoon charters but recommend booking the earliest tours first, if possible, for best weather conditions.
You can opt to purchase individual spots on the boat (up to 6 spaces available max) or if you prefer the luxury and privacy of your own custom guided tour, you can book a private charter. We need a minimum of (4) guests to run the tour.
Being on a small vessel allows for a more personal experience with our crew and more time in the water than the typical “tourist trap” large vessel. This tour does include snorkeling but the exact amount of time varies day to day due to weather conditions, wildlife sightings, & the general flow of each day as a safari is very dynamic. Please see our crew page to learn more about our professional and highly qualified team! Scroll down to see what to bring.
Requirements to join: You should know how to swim and be able to climb a vertical ladder, must be over 4 ft tall, must be under 250 lbs.
Professional photo package: We offer a professional underwater photo package to capture your adventure of 25-50 photos taken on a DSLR camera in an underwater housing to be post processed & edited by our highly qualified photographers! This is at an extremely affordable rate of $100 per group! You will also receive the GoPro footage of the tour included in that taken on our GoPro hero 10! Adding on this package allows you to stay in the moment and let the photographers worry about capturing your experience! To purchase, just select this option at checkout. You can also add this on while on your tour. Please note that photos take up to a week to process & will be sent via email.
GoPro package: Allow our safety divers to capture your day via the GoPro hero 10 for only $25 extra per group! All footage taken will be video footage on the newest GoPro on the market. To purchase, just select this option at checkout. You can also add this on while on your tour. Please note the footage will be sent via email within 24-48 hours of your tour.

The Ocean Cleanup System 03 Is Catching Plastic Pollution in the Pacific
The Ocean Cleanup's founder and CEO Boyan Slat explains the nonprofit's mission to clean up floating plastic in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.
- Webby Award Winner for Best Environmental and Sustainability video (2023), 3-time Telly Award Winner (2019, 2020, 2022) 12 years experience producing videos, podcasts, and live events for CNET.
As demand for more sustainable and environmentally friendly products goes mainstream, a large number of organizations and innovations are sprouting up to combat pollution. One of these nonprofit organizations is The Ocean Cleanup, which has been developing a number of technologies to stop the flow of plastic pollution into our oceans.
Since 2013, the Netherlands based team of engineers and scientists, led by inventor, founder and CEO Boyan Slat, have been testing and deploying debris-catching barriers, autonomous River Interceptors and -- probably its most famous plastic-catching device -- the Ocean Cleanup System.
The Ocean Cleanup's System 03 is the latest iteration of its oceangoing plastic-catching technology. It's currently operating in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, located hundreds of miles offshore between California and Hawaii. We spoke with The Ocean Cleanup's Boyan Slat, who gave us an update on the mission and an overview of how the new clean-up System 03 works to pick up floating plastic debris in the Pacific Ocean.
"Our cleanup system is comprised of two parts. On one end you have the hardware, the actual physical system that is out in the ocean. And then secondly, you have the software, which are the computer models that guide us to where and how we tow the system through the patch," Boyan told CNET's Senior Video Producer Stephen Beacham.
"On the hardware side we have this two-and-a-half kilometer, U-shaped barrier that is towed by two ships, which funnels the plastic from the ocean's surface into a collection bag called the retention zone," Boyan continued. "The plastic gets retained and then periodically, once that's full, we take that retention zone on the deck of one of the ships and empty it, and then return it to sea so we can keep collecting while we do the sorting on the ship."
System 03 is The Ocean Cleanup's fourth-gen cleanup system, preceded by System 001, System 001/B and System 002. System 03 is the organization's largest and most effective ocean-cleaning device. To date, The Ocean Cleanup has extracted 353,520 kilograms of plastic waste from the Pacific Ocean, according to the ocean system dashboard on the organization's website .
The Ocean Cleanup plans to scale up its cleaning operation after testing of System 03 concludes. It hopes to deploy as many as 10 ocean cleanup systems at a time, its end goal being to rid the Pacific Ocean of most or all of the floating plastic pollution over a 10-year span.
"Since we started with System 002 in 2021, we've seen a steady increase. The first expedition we did we caught, I think, about 7 tons of plastic," Boyan said. "In late 2023 ... we went up to 45 tons in a single trip. This year we hope to do even better than that. The magical number that we're aiming for is 100 kilos per hour. If we hit that with a decently sized fleet of cleanup systems, we can actually clean up the patch within 10 years."
Watch the full interview with Boyan Slat and see The Ocean Cleanup System 03 in action in CNET's latest video about the mission to rid the world's oceans of plastic pollution.

Here Are the First Week Numbers for Future and Metro Boomin's 'We Still Don't Trust You'
The Atlanta rap music duo already have a No. 1 album with 'We Don't Trust You,' which was released three weeks before its sequel.
Future and Metro Boomin have another chart-topping album with We Still Don't Trust You .
According to Billboard , the duo's latest album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, with 127,500 equivalent album units earned in its first week. The album is Future's tenth and Metro's fifth No. 1 on the chart.
We Still Don't Trust You was released on April 12 and features appearances by The Weeknd, Brownstone, Ty Dolla Sign, J. Cole, Lil Baby, and ASAP Rocky. It serves as a sequel to Future and Metro's first collaborative effort, We Don't Trust You , which arrived three weeks before part two and also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 251,000 units in its first week.
The album spawned a lot of chatter online, as people believe that Drake was once again a target, amid the hip-hop civil war that kicked off thanks to Kendrick Lamar's feature on "Like That" off the first album. On "Show of Hands," A$AP Rocky appeared to take aim at Drake in the context of his alleged relationship with Rihanna.
"N****s in they feelings over women, what, you hurt or somethin'? / I smash before you birthed, son, Flacko hit it first, son / Still don' trust you, it's always us, never them / Heard you dropped your latest shit / Funny how it just came and went," Rocky raps on the song.
The Weeknd also has a verse on "All to Myself" that listeners think was meant for Drake and his OVO camp .
"They could never diss my brothers, baby," he sings on the song. "When they got leaks in they operation/I thank God that I never signed my life away," he sings, seemingly in reference to him never signing with Drake's OVO label.
Elsewhere on the chart, Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter fell to No. 2 after a two week stint at the top.
This all comes ahead of next week's chart which will of course be dominated by you know who.

2 warnings and an advisory in effect for 5 regions in the area, results of the revised traffic study show a recommendation for a traffic signal in oceanway community, residents in a constant battle to stop a chick-fil-a from making their neighborhood its home.
Ariel Schiller , Reporter , Jacksonville
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The decision on the proposed Chick-fil-A development at the front of the North Creek subdivision was delayed for another month and a half after it was revealed that there was a revised version of the traffic study.
During Tuesday’s Land Use and Zoning Committee meeting, several council members were concerned that they hadn’t reviewed the revised version and decided to defer the vote.
The vote was first deferred in February to make way for the traffic study conducted by Chick-fil-A.
The first study was dated April 3 and is 600 pages. The revised version was dated April 1 and is 617 pages.
The number of trips the engineering firm NV5 projects is still the same: 294 in the morning peak hour, 468 during the lunchtime peak hour, and 316 during the evening peak hour.
Both studies also found that project traffic will have a nominal impact on traffic operations.
In both traffic studies, they evaluated turning lanes on Duval Station Road and Lady Lake Road. Both studies said the roads each meet the Florida Department of Transportation guidelines for a right-turn deceleration lane.
However, the revised study appears to have a line removed that was in the first study that says installation of right-turn lanes was not feasible given the spacing to adjacent intersections.
They both analyzed the need for a traffic signal.
The study conducted on April 6 found that a traffic signal wasn’t warranted with anticipated growth at the intersection of Bradley Cove Road and Duval Station Road, while the revised traffic study said the intersection does warrant a traffic signal with the anticipated growth.
Councilman Reggie Gaffney Jr. sent this statement:
“After receiving the revised traffic study hours before it was time to vote. I spoke with the Oceanway community which expressed to me that they needed more time to review the study, which led to me deferring the vote. It’s always my goal to do what’s best for the community.”
The next time the LUZ committee will revisit the proposed Chick-fil-A is June 4.
New4JAX also reached out to the engineering firm that did the traffic studies for clarification on their findings twice this week and is waiting for a response.
We also reached out to the city of Jacksonville to speak with a traffic engineer but haven’t heard back yet.

Nike to layoff 740 Portland area workers
BEAVERTON, Ore. (KPTV) – Nike has announced the layoff 740 workers at its headquarters in Oregon, as part of a company restructuring plan.
On Friday, the company reported the layoffs to the state’s Office of Workforce Investments.
The filing is the start of a second wave of layoffs. The company previously let go a number of workers in February.
In February , CEO John Donahoe announced that Nike would layoff 2% of its total workforce, but didn’t provide specifics.
The layoffs in Oregon announced Friday do not affect retail stores or manufacturing facilities. Only workers at Nike’s campus in Beaverton will be affected.
Nike provided the following statement to KPTV on Friday:
“Nike’s always at our best when we’re on the offense. The actions that we’re taking put us in the position to right-size our organization to get after our biggest growth opportunities as interest in sport, health and wellness have never been stronger. While these changes will impact approximately 2% of our total workforce, we are grateful for the contributions made by all Nike teammates.”
Nike is one of the Pacific Northwest’s largest employers, with more than 15,500 employees in Oregon and Southwest Washington, and more than 83,000 employees worldwide.
