Privacy Overview

  • Most purposes explained in this notice rely on the storage or accessing of information from your device when you use an app or visit a website. For example, a vendor or publisher might need to store a cookie on your device during your first visit on a website, to be able to recognise your device during your next visits (by accessing this cookie each time).
  • A car manufacturer wants to promote its electric vehicles to environmentally conscious users living in the city after office hours. The advertising is presented on a page with related content (such as an article on climate change actions) after 6:30 p.m. to users whose non-precise location suggests that they are in an urban zone.
  • A large producer of watercolour paints wants to carry out an online advertising campaign for its latest watercolour range, diversifying its audience to reach as many amateur and professional artists as possible and avoiding showing the ad next to mismatched content (for instance, articles about how to paint your house). The number of times that the ad has been presented to you is detected and limited, to avoid presenting it too often.
  • If you read several articles about the best bike accessories to buy, this information could be used to create a profile about your interest in bike accessories. Such a profile may be used or improved later on, on the same or a different website or app to present you with advertising for a particular bike accessory brand. If you also look at a configurator for a vehicle on a luxury car manufacturer website, this information could be combined with your interest in bikes to refine your profile and make an assumption that you are interested in luxury cycling gear.
  • An apparel company wishes to promote its new line of high-end baby clothes. It gets in touch with an agency that has a network of clients with high income customers (such as high-end supermarkets) and asks the agency to create profiles of young parents or couples who can be assumed to be wealthy and to have a new child, so that these can later be used to present advertising within partner apps based on those profiles.
  • An online retailer wants to advertise a limited sale on running shoes. It wants to target advertising to users who previously looked at running shoes on its mobile app. Tracking technologies might be used to recognise that you have previously used the mobile app to consult running shoes, in order to present you with the corresponding advertisement on the app.
  • A profile created for personalised advertising in relation to a person having searched for bike accessories on a website can be used to present the relevant advertisement for bike accessories on a mobile app of another organisation.
  • You read several articles on how to build a treehouse on a social media platform. This information might be added to a profile to mark your interest in content related to outdoors as well as do-it-yourself guides (with the objective of allowing the personalisation of content, so that for example you are presented with more blog posts and articles on treehouses and wood cabins in the future).
  • You have viewed three videos on space exploration across different TV apps. An unrelated news platform with which you have had no contact builds a profile based on that viewing behaviour, marking space exploration as a topic of possible interest for other videos.
  • You read articles on vegetarian food on a social media platform and then use the cooking app of an unrelated company. The profile built about you on the social media platform will be used to present you vegetarian recipes on the welcome screen of the cooking app.
  • You have viewed three videos about rowing across different websites. An unrelated video sharing platform will recommend five other videos on rowing that may be of interest to you when you use your TV app, based on a profile built about you when you visited those different websites to watch online videos.
  • You have clicked on an advertisement about a “black Friday” discount by an online shop on the website of a publisher and purchased a product. Your click will be linked to this purchase. Your interaction and that of other users will be measured to know how many clicks on the ad led to a purchase.
  • You are one of very few to have clicked on an advertisement about an “international appreciation day” discount by an online gift shop within the app of a publisher. The publisher wants to have reports to understand how often a specific ad placement within the app, and notably the “international appreciation day” ad, has been viewed or clicked by you and other users, in order to help the publisher and its partners (such as agencies) optimise ad placements.
  • You have read a blog post about hiking on a mobile app of a publisher and followed a link to a recommended and related post. Your interactions will be recorded as showing that the initial hiking post was useful to you and that it was successful in interesting you in the related post. This will be measured to know whether to produce more posts on hiking in the future and where to place them on the home screen of the mobile app.
  • You were presented a video on fashion trends, but you and several other users stopped watching after 30 seconds. This information is then used to evaluate the right length of future videos on fashion trends.
  • The owner of an online bookstore wants commercial reporting showing the proportion of visitors who consulted and left its site without buying, or consulted and bought the last celebrity autobiography of the month, as well as the average age and the male/female distribution of each category. Data relating to your navigation on its site and to your personal characteristics is then used and combined with other such data to produce these statistics.
  • An advertiser wants to better understand the type of audience interacting with its adverts. It calls upon a research institute to compare the characteristics of users who interacted with the ad with typical attributes of users of similar platforms, across different devices. This comparison reveals to the advertiser that its ad audience is mainly accessing the adverts through mobile devices and is likely in the 45-60 age range.
  • A technology platform working with a social media provider notices a growth in mobile app users, and sees based on their profiles that many of them are connecting through mobile connections. It uses a new technology to deliver ads that are formatted for mobile devices and that are low-bandwidth, to improve their performance.
  • An advertiser is looking for a way to display ads on a new type of consumer device. It collects information regarding the way users interact with this new kind of device to determine whether it can build a new mechanism for displaying advertising on this type of device.
  • A travel magazine has published an article on its website about the new online courses proposed by a language school, to improve travelling experiences abroad. The school’s blog posts are inserted directly at the bottom of the page, and selected on the basis of your non-precise location (for instance, blog posts explaining the course curriculum for different languages than the language of the country you are situated in).
  • A sports news mobile app has started a new section of articles covering the most recent football games. Each article includes videos hosted by a separate streaming platform showcasing the highlights of each match. If you fast-forward a video, this information may be used to select a shorter video to play next.
  • An advertising intermediary delivers ads from various advertisers to its network of partnering websites. It notices a large increase in clicks on ads relating to one advertiser, and uses data regarding the source of the clicks to determine that 80% of the clicks come from bots rather than humans.
  • Clicking on a link in an article might normally send you to another page or part of the article. To achieve this, 1°) your browser sends a request to a server linked to the website, 2°) the server answers back (“here is the article you asked for”), using technical information automatically included in the request sent by your device, to properly display the information / images that are part of the article you asked for. Technically, such exchange of information is necessary to deliver the content that appears on your screen.

I haven't had any problems with my VRX 200. Its my second bike, (I have a Fuel, but that is goign to be replaced by a Liquid). I love the bike, I just it for stunts and crap in the backyard until I get my Liquid. For bushings, my LBS made them for me. For the swing arm, give Trek a call. They might even be able to get your some cash for still owning the bike and still using it.... who knows? JM

My VRX-300 has been nearly faultless since day one (still knocking on wood). The only thing that has gone bad on it was a broken chain during the first year, but otherwise it has been very stout & I've only needed to replace normal wear items (pads, grips, tires/tubes, et cetera). I'm a clyde & ride reasonably hard too so that should be testament to the strength of the design. I just wish I had the funds right now to upgrade the p.o.s. Judy XC fork to something good. I haven't seen many parts on eBay for the VRX's lately, but I'm sure something will pop up from time to time.

These qualities make the Navigator 300 a flexible and enjoyable bike for casual rides on roads or dirt paths, though it falls short for competitive or long distance cycling where efficiency is paramount.

Let’s explore the specifics around this model’s comfort, versatility, and customization potential that contribute to its strengths as a recreational cruiser.

  • Suspension seatpost
  • Shock-absorbing front suspension

With these customization options, you can tailor your Trek Navigator 300 according to your specific needs and preferences while enjoying its comfort and versatility on various terrains.

Weaknesses of the Trek Navigator 300

Weaknesses of the Trek Navigator 300

Firstly, its weight of around 33 lbs can make it feel less agile on hills and more difficult to handle compared to lighter bikes.

Additionally, the bike may not be as efficient for long distances or high speeds due to its design prioritizing comfort over pedaling efficiency.

Lastly, in terms of technology, the Navigator 300 lacks modern features such as disc brakes which are becoming increasingly common in newer models.

One major weakness of the Trek Navigator 300 is its weight, which significantly affects its agility on various terrains.

Weighing around 35 lbs, this bike isn’t as lightweight as some other models in its class.

The aluminum frame provides durability but adds to the overall weight of the bike.

As a result, maneuverability and speed may be compromised, making it slower and less efficient compared to lighter bikes.

The Trek Navigator 300’s weight poses a challenge when it comes to agility on different terrains.

With an approximate weight of 35 lbs (15.8 kg), this comfort-hybrid bike falls on the heavier side compared to other models in its category that weigh around 26 lbs (11-12 kg).

While comfort is prioritized with features like an upright riding position and suspension system for reduced impact, such a heavy build can make it slow and inefficient when navigating hills or uneven surfaces.

The aluminum frame used in the construction of the Trek Navigator contributes significantly to its overall weight but also ensures durability for long-lasting performance .

However, this added heft can become apparent during rides where quick acceleration or responsive handling are required.

When considering factors like uphill climbs or negotiating tight turns at higher speeds, riders might experience limitations due to these additional pounds carried by their bicycle’s frame.

The Navigator 300 sacrifices pedaling efficiency and speed for the sake of prioritizing comfort.

Its heavy build makes accelerating sluggish, while the limited gear range constrains speed.

The outdated rim brakes prove inconsistent across conditions.

Overall, it simply isn’t designed for high speeds or long distances, instead emphasizing versatility, affordability, and a smooth ride for leisurely weekend cruising with friends and family.

This bike lacks modern features like disc brakes.

  • No disc brakes, relying on outdated rim brakes
  • Heavier frame and components reduce efficiency
  • Slower and less versatile than newer hybrid models

The dated technology makes the Navigator 300 less efficient and versatile compared to more modern hybrid bikes. However, its simple and proven design appeals to riders seeking a basic, durable bike for casual cruising rather than high performance.

Despite its technological limitations, the Navigator 300 retains charm and value for leisurely rides.

Riding Experience and Suitability

Riding Experience and Suitability

First, let’s look at its ideal usage scenarios. This bike is well-suited for casual rides, light commuting, and leisurely cycling thanks to its comfortable upright riding position and versatile features.

However, it may not be suitable for long-distance or high-speed rides due to its heavier weight and less efficient pedaling efficiency.

Despite these limitations, there are still recommendations we can make based on specific purposes such as emphasizing the lightweight frame for easy maneuverability or highlighting the suspension system’s shock-absorbing capability.

You’d be suited to take the Navigator 300 out for leisurely neighborhood spins or running local errands given its cruiser design emphasizing comfort over speed. It’s perfect for casual rides around the urban areas, whether you’re commuting to work or just exploring your city.

The bike can also handle light off-road adventures on gravel trails and provide a smooth ride along the beach boardwalk.

Whether it’s fitness riding or family leisure time, this versatile bike has got you covered!

When riding it, you’ll appreciate the Navigator 300’s comfort and versatility but may find limitations in speed and efficiency.

  • Durability from its aluminum frame allows longevity if properly maintained.
  • Upright riding position enhances comfort during rides.
  • Tires grip well on multiple terrains like smooth dirt or asphalt.
  • Budget-friendly price range, typically $100-$150 used.
  • Fenders and racks can be added for versatility.

Your purpose-specific recommendations include using its cruiser design for neighborhood jaunts or its ruggedness for gravel paths while avoiding extended distances that diminish its comfort.

The Trek Navigator 300 is a versatile bike suitable for various riding experiences.

For commuting and short trips around the neighborhood, this comfortable bike provides an enjoyable ride .

If you’re looking to venture off-road, it offers the durability needed for gravel riding.

However, keep in mind that it may not be ideal for long treks due to potential discomfort caused by prolonged rides on less forgiving terrain.

Overall, this hybrid bike offers great value and versatility .

Value Assessment and Considerations for Purchase

Value Assessment and Considerations for Purchase

Firstly, pricing and affordability play a crucial role in determining whether this bike is worth its cost.

Additionally, longevity and maintenance should be taken into account to ensure that your investment will last for years to come.

Lastly, it’s important to compare the Navigator 300 with other models on the market to determine if it offers competitive features and benefits at its price point.

By evaluating these points thoroughly, you can make an informed decision about purchasing the Trek Navigator 300 bike.

Considering the pricing and affordability of the Trek Navigator 300 bike, it offers good value for most buyers given its budget-friendly price range of $100-150 in local markets. Though pricing depends on the bike’s condition, it generally provides quality at an affordable cost.

However, be vigilant about potential seller misrepresentation to avoid overpaying or needing a partial refund, especially for a teenage bike purchase.

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Trek Navigator 300 bike, regular maintenance and proper care are essential.

The bike is built with a durable steel frame or lightweight aluminum frame that resists rust and provides stability.

Its components are designed to be durable, ensuring reliable shifting for smooth rides.

With easy maintenance requirements, including long-lasting tires and front suspension for added comfort, the Trek Navigator 300 offers an easy riding experience that lasts.

When weighing your Navigator’s value, it’s worth comparing similar bikes like Raleigh’s comfort-cruiser models and Giant’s relaxed hybrids that compete in affordability and intended use.

Consider the weight, agility, efficiency, speed capabilities of these bikes.

Also take into account the technological outdatedness of certain models compared to the Trek Navigator 300.

Ultimately, price and affordability should be considered along with longevity and maintenance requirements when making a purchasing decision for bike paths or road biking adventures .

The Trek Navigator 300 is a versatile ride, accommodating riders of all heights and body types.

Its adjustable seat and ergonomic design ensure comfort for everyone, fostering a sense of belonging on every journey.

With proper maintenance, the Trek Navigator 300 can last over a decade.

To summarize, the Trek Navigator 300 is a remarkable bike that offers comfort, versatility, and great value.

Its ergonomic design and customizable features ensure a comfortable ride every time, while its ability to conquer various terrains makes it suitable for any adventure.

Although it may have some limitations in terms of weight and speed, its overall performance and suitability for different purposes make it a top choice.

I bought this bike brand new in Canada for 2500 Canadian dollars and rode the Niagara escarpment for several years before moving out to the Pacific Northwest. This bike has punished me for 22 years and I have punished it as well ... and to date, I have failed to break the bike so I would rate this an incredibly strong frame and components.

I have yet to find a weakness.

Pulled out of the shed for the first time in a long, long time. New back tyre bought, front derailleur cable adjusted, bit of oil on chain etc and hit the cross country trail in the woods behind my house. Great fun. Only problem I had was that the bike is in better condition than me.

Still fiddling with front derailleur. Probably needs someone who knows what they are doing to do it for me 🤔

I found this bike outside rusty but it still functional I want to restore it.

Rust in some places

Still a great bike https://www.powerdirtbikes.com

None that I can think of

Pedal Bob; fixed it with a new rear shock.

This bike is amazing. I bought it for my son for $100 in a garage sale. Not a bit of rust, excellent shape. After 30 minutes of some basic adjustments i got on it and took it for a test ride. This thing is fast, I got up to speed in no time. I ride a $3k Cannonade FS bike and this thing, for its age, is pretty close to what I would expect from a brand new bike. I upgraded the rear suspension with a shock I had laying around which immediately eliminated the pedal bob this bike seems to be known for. The outdated disk brake adapter for the rear was hard to find but worth the upgrade. The front fork is substandard. In the process of buying a new one from eBay. The riding position seems awkward at first but the power I can put down on the pedals is amazing. The whole bike seems to have more travel than it actually has. The biggest downfall of it is its looks. What an ugly bike!!! In addition that every new Next bike from walmart that comes out of the store has a similar look. If you can score one for cheap, get it, It's worth it.

Bomb proof frame. Design light years ahead of its time in 1999.

None, believe it or not. Still running with all original parts.

Totally flawless frame design in 1999 when I acquired the bike through a sponsorship gift. Then fate favoured this bike. I used this as a training bike on roads and cross country and after about a year I stored it still as new. Then in 2013 took the old girl old and hit everywhere, hard hell as always in Ireland. This bike handles everything and gives some new bikes a whipping. If you have one in the UK hold on to it. I have been offered a small fortune this bike, believe me when guys see you hitting Kilbroney flat out. Then find out the bikes 15 years old, unreal. I still have her and now stored again for good???? Hmm. What a bike!!!!! Well ahead of its time and what a great looking.

Light enough for a full suspension... no longer an outdated frame because of new suspension technology. Awesome control going down.. a little heavy going up but I can keep up with the pack on light bikes

don't know if it's just me but a bearing system at the pivot location would provide a much stiffer ride... Need a special adapter for hayes disc.. fixed the problem though.

Pedals better than most bikes on the market now, change the rear shock and it'll be hard to find a bike capable of doing everything this thing does. Change the travel from 4"-5.25" makes it an all round trail bike (blackdiamond) Frame geometry is out of this world. Bottom line, right parts spec and this bike rules... real head turner... I haven't seen another one like it in Northern Ontario.

Similar Products Used:

Giant AC3; Kona, Norco, Specialized, Gary Fisher... tried a lot.

I bought it just so i could upgrade it in the future... and now its done.. the Frame really takes it all ! i have been using it for hard freeride and its just keeps going on and on...

Factory setup is ok for a beginner but if you planning on go for some freeride/urban you should upgrade the fork and wheels first of all.

I strongly recommend you to buy one of this bike if you are in to some free-riding in the woods and for urban riding... 200,300 or 500 no matter i got the 200 it´s all the same, this frame kick **. i never hade any problems with this frame and every time im out riding i cant stop thinking that i bought the best bike (after upgrades) and that it´s 3 years old and still produces so well...

GT, Gary fischer bikes, Cannondale Raven and Kona Stinky -02

Great foundation to build on. Color you can live with.

Who was the genius that decided how to mount the front derailleur? No more lunch in the paint booth!

Nice bike, but the next change would probably be a better rear shock. The bike handles nicely, but it is a bit on the heavy side. This may be because it is the first full suspension bike I have owned, and I came off of a 9900 prior to this bike. It's unfortunate that this bike has been discontinued, and that more companies don't make a bike that fits smaller people. I am 5'4" in my shoes, and I barely clear the top tube. Overall a nice starter suspension bike. Affordable and comfy enough to get your teen or significant other into riding. It's also nice that you are dealing with a company that will be around for the life of the bike, and that they stand behind their product.

I also have a 9900 that I scavanged parts from to make the bike lighter and smoother.

Great Free-ride bike.

Original component package sucked as much as any low end package would. In fact that's why I bought the VRX-200. With the intention of upgrading about everything.

I have put a lot of miles w/ mild abuse on this bike and it has been awesome. A lot of DumbA$$ people ripped on this bike when it debuted because they thought it was a downhill bike. Silly consumers! And Trek discontinued them after a 2yr. production. Silly Trek. All I can say is, "I'M GLAD I GOT MINE!!!". This bike was designed for free-riding and is perfect in that realm once you attach all your trusted and/or favorite components.

Gary fisher, canondale, etc.

Strength: Frame and rear shock, cool wheels for XC. Weakness: Swing arm, fork, Be warned the Trek has the rear shock set up to be very linear. Read the Cane Creek manual and adjust the volume of the shock. it makes the bike so plush and progressive like it was meant to be. Well I was really happy until about a four weeks ago.

Vrx. Hey, contrary to some of the flaming here, the frame is basically pretty good. It was campained by Trek with good success, and is the same frame as all the VRX models right up to the $4k models. Trek retired it largely due to problems with the swingarms cracking at the welds.

  15. trek vrx 300

My VRX-300 has been nearly faultless since day one (still knocking on wood). The only thing that has gone bad on it was a broken chain during the first year, but otherwise it has been very stout & I've only needed to replace normal wear items (pads, grips, tires/tubes, et cetera).
