City tours by Ape Calessino

Tour of the city of Cagliari on board an Ape Calessino through its most characteristic neighbourhoods such as Castello, rich in medieval monuments, and Villanova, a district of narrow flower-filled streets. The Ape continues on to Marina Piccola, the Poetto beach promenade and the natural park of pink flamingos, a final stop at Monte Urpinu provides great views of the gulf and the city. During the tour you can stop to take pictures and listen to tales of the city from the driver. From Tuesday to Saturday, you can also visit the San Benedetto market.

In 2 ore all’aria fresca e senza sforzi, siamo riusciti a vedere gran parte delle cose belle della città, compresa la spiaggia del Poetto ed i fenicotteri rosa. Inoltre Mauro è stato così gentile da venire a prenderci direttamente in Hotel (perché già in centro). Durante la passeggiata ci ha raccontato la storia e gli aspetti più attuali della città: veramente grazie per la competenza e la simpatia! L’esperienza è consigliatissima! Non vi dico quante facce di turisti invidiosi ho visto mentre scarpinavano su e giù per le torride salite dei vicoli storici … il prezzo è assolutamente congruo! Sono rimasta piacevolmente colpita della professionalità di Mauro, le descrizioni e la scelta dell 'itinerario sono studiate e preparate con grande competenza rendendo l' esperienza davvero interessante. Consiglio, se possibile, di scegliere il tardo pomeriggio per la vostra visita. Il tramonto dal Bastione di Santa Croce lascia senza parole. Se siete appassionati di murales chiedete di essere accompagnati in via San Saturnino, non rimarrete delusi. A bordo del calessino scoprirete le tante sfaccettature della città in modo piacevole e divertente. Consiglio d’estate di andare il pomeriggio verso le 18 per evitare il caldo eccessivo, in questo modo è possibile avere un assaggio di tutti i quattro quartieri della città di Cagliari in modo molto piacevole e simpatico. Oltretutto si prende anche il fresco perché l’Ape Car è aperto. Mauro è molto preparato e gentile e spiega tutto in modo molto esauriente e preciso, con la sua console dotata di altoparlante e tablet per far vedere le foto storiche della città in epoche pregresse. The owner driver Giovanni was very friendly and knowledgeable plus helpful. Sometimes it was difficult to understand what he was saying, but he was very accommodating and willing to please. When it started pouring rain, he stopped and found us a place to stay relatively dry. He provided helpful and appreciated suggestions about the area to include beautiful beaches, transportation, restaurant recommendations, etc. He was a gem! The nearest I can describe the experience is like being in one of the Mini's in the Italian Job! Nipping in and out of unmissable narrow streets you would possibly ignore if you were on foot and you certainly couldn't get to with anything bigger than the Tuk Tuk. Mauro is a font of knowledge about the City and the Tuk Tuk was really comfortable - with its open top and seating for two it is the perfect Covid safe vehicle. As we were three people, we had to book to tuk tuks and as we did this only the day before, the second drive didn't speak any English. Not a deal breaker but that info would have been nice to know when booking. I'd have liked the tour to last a bit longer to allow more stops as it felt rushed in areas as you're forced to take pics while moving. The guide was quite knowledgeable and friendly.
