3x GRAMMY® and Emmy Award-winning, RIAA multi-platinum certified artist  Lizzo  has announced the second North American leg of her wildly successful 2022 tour. Coming off her Emmy Award win for Outstanding Competition Program and her VMAs Video for Good Award for “About Damn Time” (which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart and the top 10 in 12 other countries), she will be performing in 17 cities across North America next year. Her most recent album Special peaked at number 2 on the US Billboard 200 chart, hailed by Rolling Stone as “the most unabashedly joyous, sonically diverse, and emotionally profound album put out by a major label since Beyonce’s Lemonade.”

Lizzo’s critically-acclaimed new album, SPECIAL , is available everywhere now via Nice Life Recording Company/Atlantic Records HERE , highlighted by tracks such as the building hit “2 B Loved (Am I Ready),” and the uplifting title track “Special.” SPECIAL also includes instant hit, the worldwide smash “ About Damn Time ,” Lizzo’s fourth top 10 “Hot 100” hit, following “Truth Hurts” (which spent seven weeks at #1), “Good As Hell,” and “Rumors (Feat. Cardi B).

Lizzo has already had a packed 2022 with a double duty hosting and performance gig on  Saturday Night Live , visits to NBC’s  The TODAY Show  and CBS’  The Late Late Show with James Corden, an opening performance at the 2022 BET Awards, and much more. Lizzo can also currently be seen in the Emmy Award-winning Amazon Prime Video #1 reality show,  Lizzo’s Watch Out For The Big Grrrls , streaming now exclusively via Prime Video.

Lizzo recently added “fashion entrepreneur” to her multi-hyphenate career by joining forces with parent company Fabletics, Inc. for the launch of her revolutionary new shapewear brand,  YITTY . Named after her childhood moniker and based on the principles of self-love, radical inner confidence, and effortless, everyday wear, the game-changing, size-inclusive brand marks an industry first: no-shame, smile-inducing shapewear designed for all body types, with sizes ranging from size 6X to XS. A 3x GRAMMY® Award-winning singer, songwriter, rapper, actress, and so much more, Lizzo has shifted the sound, soul, and spirit of popular music and culture. 2019’s now-classic, RIAA platinum-certified debut album,  CUZ I LOVE YOU , bowed at #4 on the Billboard 200, fueled in part by such history-making hits as the platinum-certified “Tempo (Feat. Missy Elliott),” the 2x platinum “Juice,” the 4x platinum “Good As Hell,” and the 7x platinum “Truth Hurts.” The latter of which ascended to #1 on  Billboard ’s “Hot 100,” affirming Lizzo as only the third female rapper to top the chart without a featured artist, as well as the first black solo female R&B singer to claim the top spot since 2012. “Truth Hurts” dominated the chart for seven weeks, further making history as the longest-running #1 by a solo female rap artist ever. Named by Rolling Stone as one of the “500 Greatest Songs Of All Time,” “Truth Hurts” went on to earn a 2020 GRAMMY® Award for “Best Pop Solo Performance,” with  CUZ I LOVE YOU (DELUXE)  receiving that year’s GRAMMY® for “Best Urban Contemporary Album” and “Jerome” earning “Best Traditional R&B Performance.”

Crowned 2019’s “Entertainer of the Year” by both  TIME  and  Entertainment Weekly , Lizzo has adorned the covers of countless publications around the globe, spanning  Rolling Stone ,  Billboard ,  Elle ,  British Vogue , and many more. Among her many unforgettable TV appearances, Lizzo has lit up the stage at the American Music Awards, the MTV Video Music Awards, the BET Awards,  Saturday Night Live , and an epic opening performance at the GRAMMYs, to name just a few. Expanding her imprint and influence across media, Lizzo lent her voice to the 2019 animated film, UglyDolls , and joined Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu, Julia Stiles, Keke Palmer, Lili Reinhart, and Cardi B in the all-star cast of that same year’s critically acclaimed  Hustlers .

Lizzo maintained this unstoppable momentum on 2021’s RIAA gold-certified “ Rumors (Feat. Cardi B) ” and is now set to create her biggest, boldest, and brightest revolution thus far with her massively anticipated second full-length offering  SPECIAL  for Nice Life Recording Company/Atlantic Records, due July 15 th .

2023 concert tours

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Lizzo, Taylor Swift and Paramore are among the acts performing in Ohio in 2023.

  • Malcolm X Abram, cleveland.com

CLEVELAND, Ohio No matter your preferred genre, sub-genre or microgenre of music there’s an artist hitting the road sometime this year who wants to play for you in exchange for legal tender and your undying devotion to their artistic endeavors. Though they will probably settle for you singing and dancing along to their artistry.

So, to help you plan your personal concert calendar, we’ve compiled a list of the cool shows coming to Ohio in 2023. We’ve included a few regional acts along with the big-tent/arena pop, rock and rap artists.

This one’s for the shredders. Zaza is a local guitarist who specializes in melodic guitar-driven instrumental rock with a classical influence displayed by his love of playing Bach and Mozart pieces between his own knotty originals. The show will be at The Knight Stage, the Akron Civic Theatre’s small, intimate venue so guitar nerds can get a nice close look at Zaza’s hands as they fleetly fly across the fretboard.

  • Feb. 18: An Evening with Neil Zaza. 8 p.m., The Knight Stage at the Akron Civic Theatre, 182 S. Main St., Akron. Tickets, $20, Akron Civic Theatre .

Yo La Tengo

Yo La Tengo

This legendary Indie rock trio is celebrating its 39th year as a beloved critics band with a dedicated cult following. Over the decades, Georgia Hubley her husband Ira Kaplan with long-time bassist James McNew have written songs and recorded songs with loud skronky, guitar freakouts and delicate ethereal melodies and everything in between. By the time they hit the Beachland stage, their latest album “This Stupid World” will be out. Check out the catchy, mellow lead single “Fallout.”

  • March 22: An Evening with Yo La Tengo. 7 p.m., Beachland Ballroom, 15711 Waterloo Rd., Cleveland. Tickets, $32.50, Ticketweb .

Jeezy, TI and Gucci Mane

A trio of Dirty South Rap Kings joins forces to take us back to the aughts and the tens with an evening of hits, including “My President” and “Seen it All” (Jeezy), “Whatever You Like and “Live Your Life” (T.I.) and “Lemonade,” and “I Get The Bag” (Gucci Mane).

International Anime Music Festival

This should be quite interesting. The virtual stars of this traveling festival are Kizuna, Himehina - a virtual duo consisting of Hime Tanka and Hina Suzuki. Gumi from Megpoid (no, I don’t know what that means, either) has 10 albums and tens of millions of views of her music. There’s also the trio, MaRiNaSu a virtual “dance and vocal unit” making their international debut on this tour. Last but certainly not least is LilYPSE, a.k.a Mikado and Oboro Akatsuki, a pair of virtual singing twins. All the “performers” are either Vtubers, virtually generated animated YouTubers with human voices, or vocaloids, virtual singers who have computer-generated voices. So, yeah, this is going to be a unique concert experience and because it’s anime, all of the performers are young, big-eyed and don’t own pants. For a taste of the surely unique and colorful virtual concert check out the video below of MaRiNaSu LiLYPSE with “Autonomy.”

  • March 8: International Anime Music Festival. 7:30 p.m., The Agora, 5000 Euclid Ave., Cleveland. Tickets, $39.50-$75, AXS .

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band

BROOOOOOSE!! The Boss is 73 years old now, but Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will surely put on a lengthy, high-energy show packed with hits and obscure tunes to delight the hardcore fans. I’ve seen Springsteen in Ohio three times; with the E Street Band, a solo acoustic show and with his Seeger Tribute Band and each time was a different experience and a darn fine show. Springsteen concerts are also fun for folks who enjoy seeing grown, middle-aged (and up) men, cheer, jump and scream like teeny boppers at a Beatles concert.

  • April 5: Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band. 8 p.m., Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, 1 Center Ct., Cleveland. Tickets, $131-$1380, Seat Geek .

Snarky Puppy

The funky and eclectic Texas-bred/NYC-based collective led by bassist Michael League has had more than 40 awesome musicians and improvisers pass in and out of its ever-evolving lineup. The band’s groovy, funky and often rock and jazz-fusion-infused instrumentals have garnered them four Grammy awards and many Downbeat “best of” awards.

  • April 5: Snarky Puppy. 8 p.m., Temple Live, 3615 Euclid Ave., Cleveland. Tickets $35-$65, Ticketmaster .

Andrew Bird

Andrew Bird

A longtime critical darling with an 18-album catalog of his modern alt-folk tunes. Bird’s a multi-talented singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with a smooth, warm tenor. His most recent album, “Inside Problems,” was recorded live with his quartet and is mostly low-key affair with simmering grooves, interesting arrangements and Bird’s precise, chiming whistling prowess.

  • April 8: Andrew Bird. 8 p.m., The Agora, The Agora, 5000 Euclid Ave., Cleveland. Tickets, $36-$66, AXS .

New Edition and Keith Sweat

A show for the Gen-Xers who grew up on and with New Edition and Keith Sweat way back in the 20th century. This tour features all six members of New Edition, a set by Bell Biv Devoe of “Poison” fame, singer-songwriter producer and New Jack Swing King Keith Sweat who’s “beggin’” ballads such as “How Deep Is Your Love” helped many folks plead their case to a wayward partner and his uptempo jams including “I Want Her” filled club dancefloors.

  • April 13: New Edition with Keith Sweat, Guy and Tank. 7:30 p.m., Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, 1 Center Ct., Cleveland. Tickets, $59-$227, Seat Geek .

Bikini Kill

Bikini Kill

The ‘90′s Riot Grrl punk pioneers, Kathleen Hanna (vocals), Kathi Wilcox (bass) and Tobi Vail (drums) have periodically reunited with various touring guitarists since their initial 1997 break up. The band hasn’t released anything new since 1996′s “Reject All American,” so they are in full legacy mode. But it’s quite a legacy and the feminist and LGTBQ issues and societal machines they raged against 30 years ago are sadly still in place.

  • April 16: Bikini Kill. 8 p.m., The Agora, The Agora, 5000 Euclid Ave., Cleveland. Tickets, $39.50-$45, AXS .

Cheap Trick

Elo Kiddies! You should Reach Out and Surrender some of your discretionary income for tickets, hit the MGM with your Big Eyes open and see these Boston rockers who are surely Gonna Raise Hell. Then say Goodnight to the band, go home and go to sleep so you can tell the Dream Police that Cheap Trick still has The Flame and what a great time you had rocking to their many hits.

  • April 16: Cheap Trick. 7 p.m., MGM Northfield Park, 10777 Northfield Rd., Northfield. Tickets, $49-$125, Ticketmaster .

Father John Misty

Josh Tillman, a.k.a Father John Misty returns to active recording and touring duty after a break following his 2018 album, “God’s Favorite Customer.” His new album “Chloe and the Next 20th Century” finds Misty working in big band jazz, classic ‘60s and Laurel Canyon singer-songwriter pop influences.

Lizzo: Live In Concert

“Lizzo: Live In Concert” premiered on HBO Max Saturday, December 31.

The talented, ebullient writer, flutist and performer hits the road behind her fourth album 2022′s “Special,” a lively, ebullient collection of short but action-packed tunes incorporating, disco, funk, 80s R&B and a few other sounds. It’s Lizzo’s first full headlining arena tour and has sold out nearly every stop since it’s September starts, so expect a big, brassy musical celebration.

  • May 12: Lizzo. 8 p.m., Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, 1 Center Ct., Cleveland. Tickets, $70-$532, Seat Geek .

I’m not a big Blink-182 or pop-punk fan. But dang it if this trio doesn’t put on a hell of a kinetic, energetic show. Travis Barker beats the holy heck out of his drums (he’s my favorite part), and the he’s-not-in-the-band-oh wait-he’s-back-in-the-band saga of singer-guitarist Tom DeLonge notwithstanding (he’s back in). Blink was the other big, big band of the pop-punk era and there will be a bunch of 30 and 40-somethings trying to show their kids how cool they used to be while sing-shouting along to “All The Small Things.” Check out their new and very on-brand single “Edging,” (naughty words alert!)

  • May 16: Blink-182. Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, 1 Center Ct., Cleveland. Tickets, $70-$532, Seat Geek .

Sonic Temple Art & Music Festival

This rock and roll festival’s lineup is filled with folks playing guitars and is headlined by Foo Fighters, Tool, Avenged Sevenfold and Kiss. There’s some solid variety among the usual hard-rock festival suspects including Nova Twins, Bones UK and Ayron Jones. But this one is mostly for the first pumping hard rock lovers.

  • May 25-28: Sonic Temple Art & Music Festival. Historic Crew Stadium, One Black and Gold Blvd, Columbus. Tickets, $109-$959, sonictemplefestival .

Paramore

Singer-songwriter Hayley Williams and whomever she wants (well, founding drummer Zac Farro is back in the fold) have reformed Paramore and have a new album, “This Is Why,” coming in February just in time for the trio and their backing musicians to hit the road. Opening will be influential English alt-rockers Bloc Party and newcomer Genesis Owonsu.

  • June 4: Paramore. 7 p.m., Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, 1 Center Ct., Cleveland. Tickets, $40-$146, Seat Geek .

Taylor Swift

Swift fans already know that this ticketing for the Eras Tour has been a nightmare and Ticketmaster has already given up on trying to fix it. But if you just must see T-Sizzle on this tour cycle get ready to cash some savings bonds, or smash several piggy banks, or empty the stash in your mattress because it’s going to cost you at least one arm and a leg.

  • June 30: Taylor Swift. 7 p.m., Paycor Stadium, 6 Paul Brown Stadium, Cincinnati. Tickets, $539-$7,728, Stubhub .

Madonna

Pop music legend and 2008 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Madonna will bring “The Celebration Tour” to Cleveland’s Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on Wednesday, August 2.

Madonna returns to Cleveland for the first time since her 2012 MDNA tour with the “The Celebration Tour” which as the title suggests will be a live greatest-hits show spanning her four decades as a pop culture and music icon.

  • August 2: Madonna. 7 p.m., Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, 1 Center Ct., Cleveland. Tickets, $40-??, Seat Geek .

Billy Joel & Stevie Nicks

Two boomer tastes that taste great together. This pairing is pretty appealing with a couple of hitmakers with storied careers, and long lists of hits and fan favorites from which to draw up a setlist.

  • Aug. 5: Billy Joel & Stevie Nicks. 7 p.m., Ohio Stadium , 411 Woody Hayes Dr., Columbus. Tickets, $75-$394, Ticketmaster .

‘Hamilton,’ ‘The Book of Mormon’ among Broadway in Columbus 2024-25 lineup

C OLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) — “Hamilton” and “The Book of Mormon” are returning to the Ohio Theatre as part of Broadway in Columbus’ 2024-25 season lineup, which will also feature the central Ohio premiere of a jukebox musical based on the life of Neil Diamond.

The upcoming lineup spans nine productions, a seven-show package and two season options, Broadway in Columbus and CAPA announced Monday evening. Along with several returning favorites, this season includes five shows — “MJ,” “& Juliet,” “Funny Girl,” “A Beautiful Noise” and “Kimberly Akimbo” — performing at the Ohio Theatre for the first time.

“We’re excited to bring another great season of the best of Broadway to Columbus,” said Chad Whittington, CAPA President and CEO. “Five Columbus premieres, an appealing cross-section of shows, the return of “Hamilton,” we look forward to bringing this season to Columbus for our subscribers and all the Broadway fans.”

View the entire 2024-25 season below.

2024-25 Season Shows

‘MJ’ | Ohio Theatre from Sept. 10 to 15

Michael Jackson’s artistry comes to Columbus with “MJ,” a jukebox musical that follows the making of Jackson’s 1992 “Dangerous World” tour. MJ goes beyond the singular moves and signature sound of the star, offering a rare look at the creative mind and collaborative spirit that catapulted Michael Jackson into legendary status.

‘Peter Pan’ | Ohio Theatre from Jan. 14 to 19, 2025

This high-flying musical has been captivating audiences for nearly 70 years, and is now being brought back to life in a new adaptation. The production features the musical’s classic songs like “I’m Flying,” “I Gotta Crow” and “I Wont’ Grow Up.”

“It’s always important to us to have a family-friendly show in the season, this year it’s ‘Peter Pan,'” said Lisa Minken, the Broadway in Columbus marketing manager. “We love creating that next generation of Broadway lovers. It’s a musical a lot of grew up with and now we can take our kids, our nieces and nephews and give them that same magical experience.”

‘& Juliet’ | Ohio Theatre from Feb. 18 to 23, 2025

Created by the Emmy-winning writer from “Schitt’s Creek,” this new musical asks: what would happen next if Juliet didn’t end it all over Romeo? Juliet’s new story bursts to life through a playlist of pop anthems as iconic as her name, including “Since U Been Gone‚” “Roar,” “Baby One More Time,” “Larger Than Life‚” “That’s The Way It Is,” and “Can’t Stop the Feeling!”

“More people will know the music to this show than what they realize, it’s the songbook of Max Martin, who has written a ton of hits for Kelly Clarkson and Britney Spears,” said Minken. “It’s a really fun story because it tells the story of Juliet if she didn’t fall for Romeo and if she didn’t decide to end her life, what he life would look like then. It’s so fun.”

‘Funny Girl’ | Ohio Theatre from March 25 to 30, 2025

The Broadway revival features iconic songs, including “Don’t Rain On My Parade,” “I’m the

Greatest Star,” and “People.” This bittersweet comedy is the story of Fanny Brice, a girl from the Lower East Side who dreamed of a life on the stage. Everyone told her she’d never be a star, but then something funny happened — she became one of the most beloved performers in history.

‘A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical’ | Ohio Theatre from April 22 to 27, 2025

Created in collaboration with Neil Diamond himself, “A Beautiful Noise” is the true story of how a kid from Brooklyn became a chart-busting, show-stopping American rock icon. With 120 million albums sold, a catalogue of classics like “America,” “Forever in Blue Jeans,” and “Sweet Caroline,” an induction into the Songwriters and Rock and Roll Halls of Fame, Neil Diamond’s story was made to shine on Broadway.

“We also have the Neil Diamond musical, which is some of my parents’, aunts’ and uncles’ favorite music,” said Minken. “How can you go wrong with some of his songs? “Sweet Caroline,” how could you not sing and do the chants with it?”

‘Kimberly Akimbo’ | Ohio Theatre from June 3 to 8, 2025

‘Kimberly Akimbo’ is the winner of five Tony Awards including Best Musical. Kimberly is about to turn 16 and recently moved with her family to a new town in suburban New Jersey. She’s forced to navigate family dysfunction, a rare genetic condition, her first crush and possible felony charges.

“For the Broadway purists we have the 2023 Tony Award winner ‘Kimberly Akimbo,’ which is just a beautiful piece of theatre,” said Minken.

‘Hamilton’ | Ohio Theatre from July 8 to 20, 2025

Based on Ron Chernow’s acclaimed biography and set to a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B, and Broadway, ‘Hamilton’ has had a profound impact on culture, politics, and education. In addition to its 11 Tony Awards, it has won Grammy and Olivier Awards, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and an unprecedented special citation from the Kennedy Center Honors.

“We’re so excited to have our third engagement of ‘Hamilton’ back in Columbus,” said Minken. “It’s a show that so many people know and love and we are so happy to have it back.”

2024-25 Season Options

‘The Book of Mormon’ | Ohio Theatre from Oct. 8 to 13

Called “the best musical of this century” by The New York Times, this musical comedy follows the adventures of a mismatched pair of missionaries, sent halfway across the world to spread the “good word.” With standing room only productions in London, on Broadway, and across North America, “The Book of Mormon” has become an international sensation.

‘Dr. Suess’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical’ | Palace Theatre from Dec. 3 to 8

This musical is a record-setting holiday sensation which features songs like “You’re A Mean One Mr. Grinch” and “Welcomes Christmas” from the original animated special. Max the Dog narrates as the mean and scheming Grinch, whose heart is “two sizes too small,” decides to steal Christmas away from the Holiday loving Whos.

The Black Keys , the Grammy-winning blues-rock duo hailing from Akron, will return to their home state during their 2024 North American tour, which will stop at Nationwide Arena on Oct. 24.

American Express Card Members can purchase tickets before the general public starting at 10 p.m. Tuesday through 10 p.m. Thursday. Additional presales will run throughout the week ahead of the general sale beginning at 10 a.m. Friday. Visit livenation.com and theblackkeys.com for all details.

The Black Keys played the Schottenstein Center in 2012 and their upcoming “International Players Tour” comes on the heels of two successful performances at SXSW earlier this month. The tour is in support of their new album, “Ohio Players,” due out on Friday. They will be joined on the road with indie folk band The Head and the Heart.

The pair — Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney — started as an indie act, recording in basements and producing their own records. After self-producing and recording their first four albums in makeshift studios, the duo recorded their fifth album, "Attack & Release" in 2008 in a professional studio, hiring producer Danger Mouse, who has worked with artists such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gorillaz, Norah Jones, Adele, A$AP Rocky and many others.

Review: Despite illness, Fall Out Boy delivers at sold-out Columbus concert

The Black Keys' commercial breakthrough came with the 2010 album, "Brothers," which along with its chart-topping single "Tighten Up," earned them two Grammy Awards. Their follow-up album and its hit single , "Lonely Boy," won three Grammys. Other hits include "Gold on the Ceiling" and "Little Black Submarines."

Several Black Keys songs have been used in film and television, including on series such as "How I Met Your Mother," "New Girl, "The Good Doctor" and "Sons of Anarchy."
