Luis Miguel Unveils Latin American & U.S. Tour Dates

Update Aug. 7: After officially kicking off his highly-anticipated world tour, Luis Miguel added 51 new dates to his itinerary. El Sol de México’s new dates in 2024 include the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica. The tour will also make stops in Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and many more locations. 

The new dates also include a second U.S. trek starting in Seattle, WA, on Apr. 4 and wrapping up in Greensboro, NC, on June 16.

Luis Miguel’s tour dates are out! To celebrate his birthday (April 19), El Sol de México finally released the highly-anticipated dates for his upcoming tour throughout the U.S. and Latin America. 

Though we don’t know the exact venues yet, fans already have dates to look forward to. In a short clip playing his iconic track “Amor, Amor, Amor,” LuisMi revealed his 2023 tour dates. The clip is minimalistic, showing only a vintage microphone in the background of the video.

The global 43-city tour will grace the stages of Argentina, Chile, the U.S., and Mexico. It starts on Aug. 3 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and wraps up on Dec. 17 in Guadalajara, Mexico. The U.S. leg starts on Sept. 15 to 17 in Las Vegas, NV. It will also hit major cities like Los Angeles on Sept. 23, Chicago on Oct. 5, New York on Oct. 8, Miami on Oct. 13, before finalizing in Austin on Nov. 5.

Fans are overjoyed by the tour news. An Instagram user, panchitacrochetdeco, wrote : “I’ll be in debt until 2030 but I’m going!!!!! Like almost 35 years following you 🔥❤️❤️.” Another Instagram user, mercurigabriela, commented : “What a great birthday present for all of your fans!!!! Such happiness!!!”

The last time El Sol de México went on tour was back in 2018 to 2019. At the time, his México Por Siempre tour was the highest-grossing Latine tour in Boxscore history . Per Billboard, the tour grossed $101.4 million and sold 965,000 tickets in 116 shows. This milestone was overridden just last year by Bad Bunny’s El Último Tour del Mundo and World’s Hottest Tour.

Luis Miguel celebrates 54th birthday in L.A. with Paloma Cuevas and daughter Michelle Salas

The famous singer known popularly as ‘sol de méxico’ is on a world tour that is taking him across south america, the us, spain and mexico.

The romantic relationship between the Spanish designer Paloma Cuevas, 52, and the Mexican singer Luis Miguel, 54, is going strong. Despite the initial surprise, and even disbelief, that the romance first generated, the couple seems to be consolidating a bond that has been growing step by step for almost two years. Last week they demonstrated it once again, albeit with their usual discretion, by celebrating the singer’s birthday together. Cuevas traveled over 6,000 miles from Spain to the city of Los Angeles to be with the artist on his special day. His daughter, Michelle Salas, has also shared a photograph of herself with Luis Miguel on that day, a rare event as the two have not posed publicly together for years.

Luis Miguel is currently on a very successful world tour, with each and every concert sold out. After passing through South America and around 20 U.S. cities since the end of 2023, he has extended the American leg of the tour. Last week in L.A. he surpassed the 100-concert mark with two events at the Crypto.com Arena on April 16 and 17, when he showed himself to be in shape, with a lot of energy and a well cared-for voice. His following concert was two days later, on April 19, in Las Vegas, the same day he turned 54. But he took advantage of that short break in Los Angeles to go out to dinner with Cuevas and blow out his birthday candles. According to Hola! magazine , which revealed the information on Wednesday, mariachis came to the restaurant where they sang the traditional Mañanitas to the winner of 12 Grammy Awards.

The artist also celebrated his special day with his eldest daughter, Michelle Salas, 34, born from his relationship with the Mexican actress Stephanie Salas. It was not until the young woman turned 18 that Luis Miguel recognized his paternity (which at one point he even denied), but for a few years now they have maintained an affectionate relationship. Luis Miguel attended the wedding of the young woman — a model and influencer — held in Italy last October, and gave away the bride at the altar. Although Salas and her husband, the Venezuelan businessman Danilo Díaz, shared every detail of the marriage in Vogue magazine, there were no photographs of Luis Miguel. Now, however, Salas has congratulated her father on his birthday with an image of both of them together, in what constitutes a very unusual gesture.

The image was taken, apparently, on a private plane. Both are dressed in black, and she is sitting on her father’s lap and rests her head on him, while both hold glasses of red wine. Salas posted it on her Instagram profile, which has more than two million followers, on April 23, a few days after the singer’s birthday. Although there is no text and it is not dated, both were in Los Angeles and Las Vegas during practically the same days. The influencer traveled to both cities for different promotional events for the brands with which she collaborates, and has shared her luxurious lifestyle on her social media accounts, showing off signature bags and staying in expensive hotels.

It does not look like the celebrations with Cuevas and Salas coincided; if this was the case, both women have given the spotlight to one another in order to each have their media moment with the so-called Sol de México (Sun of Mexico). Cuevas and Luis Miguel have been friends for years, as she is the daughter of Victoriano Valencia, an important bullfighting impresario who is himself a friend of Luisito Rey, the singer’s father. Later, during her marriage of almost 25 years to the bullfighter Enrique Ponce, the artist was a friend and regular guest of the couple; in fact, both were the godparents of Miguel, the first of the two children that the Mexican superstar had with the actress Aracely Arámbula. It was after Cuevas and Ponce’s divorce, in the summer of 2020, that the artist became closer to her and their friendship became a romantic relationship.

During the months of May and June, Luis Miguel will continue on his tour of the United States, where he will give 30 more concerts. At the end of June he will fly to Spain, where he will start his tour in Córdoba (the hometown of Paloma Cuevas) and do 15 concerts until the beginning of August. Then he will take a break for a couple of weeks before finishing the tour with another 30 shows throughout Mexico.

Luis Miguel conquistó Ontario sin necesidad de ofrecer un gran despliegue vocal

No todo el mundo puede darse el lujo de realizar una gira mundial de proporciones épicas sin tener un álbum nuevo en el mercado. En el caso de este artista, la producción discográfica más reciente, “¡México por siempre!”, se lanzó en el 2017.

Eso no ha impedido que Luis Miguel haya emprendido una gira indudablemente exitosa, con llenos totales en diversas plazas, y que esta vaya a extenderse al menos hasta el mes de noviembre, pese a haberse iniciado en agosto del 2023. Esta circunstancia le ha permitido regresar a ciudades ya visitadas y actuar en muchas de ellas en varias ocasiones, como ha sido el caso de Los Ángeles, que lo tuvo por partida doble en la Crypto.com Arena, el 16 y el 17 de este mes .

En realidad, California ha sido un territorio privilegiado para los seguidores del cantante mexicano nacido de manera circunstancial en Puerto Rico, porque, solo en este año, él mismo se ha presentado en ocho tarimas locales, contando la de la Toyota Arena de Ontario, que le cedió sus instalaciones el pasado 26 de abril para convertirse de ese modo en motivo de la presente reseña.

Sucede que, a sus 54 años, cumplidos hace poco más de una semana, “El Sol de México” se encuentra en una de esas posiciones de excepción que favorecen a los artistas de fama internacional que pueden convencer a su público apelando únicamente a un repertorio compuesto por éxitos del pasado.

La segunda temporada de “Luis Miguel- La Serie”, que se estrena en Netflix este 18 de abril, viene cargada de una gran intensidad dramática, con un protagonista profundamente marcado por conflictos externos e internos, a veces muy descontrolado y considerablemente más soberbio que el que vimos en los episodios anteriores.

En buen estado

Su vigencia tampoco se ha visto perjudicada por la existencia de una serie televisiva protagonizada por Diego Boneta que se exhibió originalmente entre el 2018 y el 2021, pero que se puede encontrar todavía -al menos en Estados Unidos- como parte del servicio de ‘streaming’ de Netflix.

Sin embargo, para mantenerse en los escenarios internacionales, hay que tener muchos ‘hits’ a la mano y haber llegado con decoro hasta la época actual, es decir, en un estado que permita sacar el concierto adelante.

Cualquier latino que no viva con la cabeza enterrada en el suelo sabe bien que a este hombre no le faltan los temas musicales memorables, porque estos han sido difundidos con generosidad en las radios y las televisoras de toda Latinoamérica. El simple hecho de presentar en vivo un gran número de canciones que la gente se sabe literalmente de memoria garantiza la asistencia masiva.

En el plano físico, Luis Miguel no podría estar mejor. Pese a que la juventud lo encontró convertido en un ‘sex symbol’ incuestionable, el paso de los años lo llevó a acumular unos kilos que, a partir de ahí, fueron difíciles de perder, por lo que la apariencia espigada y juvenil con la que reapareció a mediados del 2022 fue tan impresionante que muchos empezaron a insinuar la posibilidad de que la persona que daba finalmente la cara tras un largo periodo de alejamiento no fuera él, sino un doble (algo que, evidentemente, es una reverenda estupidez).

De ese modo, el Luismi que vimos este fin de semana (porque era definitivamente Luismi) se veía mucho más dinámico y enérgico que el que hemos visto en giras anteriores, y se mostraba como dueño de una seguridad para el movimiento que hizo más convincentes que nunca sus quiebres de cadera, sus escenas de baile con la sección de vientos adelantada y esas pataditas al aire que tienen algo de artes marciales. Hasta el traje con saco y corbata que llevó casi todo el tiempo lucía mejor, ajustado a su cuerpo pero dando a la vez cuenta de un meticuloso trabajo de sastrería que revelaba su elasticidad.

Más encanto que canto

El problema va por otro lado. Fuera de la efectividad de su puesta en escena, de su atractivo físico y de su carisma, Luis Miguel se hizo famoso por el virtuosismo de su canto, tan potente como melódico, tan sublime como expresivo. En su caso, es particularmente importante que la interpretación esté a la altura de las expectativas, algo que se cumplió a cabalidad durante el show del Hollywood Bowl de mayo del 2018 que reseñamos en su momento . Esa noche, “El Sol” sonó como en los discos. Es decir, como los dioses.

Cuando la garganta del protagonista de esta nota se encuentra en su mejor nivel, los resultados son memorables. Cuando no, no tanto. En la Toyota Arena, el asunto se orientó más bien hacia lo segundo, con un artista que bajaba constantemente el tono de las notas, cortaba los fraseos para evitar las prolongaciones y dejaba simplemente de cantar en varias -demasiadas- ocasiones para dejar que el público -feliz, ruidoso y enardecido- lo hiciera en su lugar, mientras insistía en mantener el micrófono considerablemente alejado de sus labios, es decir, una estrategia que le conviene únicamente a quienes conservan intacto el poderío vocal. El hijo de Luisito y Marcella podrá ser muchas cosas, pero no es un ‘crooner’, pese a haber colaborado con Frank Sinatra.

Ante una circunstancia así, es fácil decir que el artista “ya no tiene voz”. Pero las cosas no son tan simples con Luis Miguel (nunca lo han sido). A estas alturas del tour, nuestro amigo ha ofrecido más de 100 conciertos, muchos de ellos en fechas consecutivas, con un único descanso de dos semanas que se produjo durante el cambio de calendario. Hace algunos meses, se vio afectado por una faringitis que perjudicó varias de sus presentaciones. Bajo esas condiciones, resulta irracional pedirle que ofrezca sin cesar interpretaciones impecables.

¿Tenía Luis Miguel las cuerdas vocales particularmente agotadas en Ontario? ¿Decidió de antemano cuidarse en vista de que debe ofrecer al menos 70 presentaciones más en lo que queda del 2024, y tomando en cuenta que esta no era una plaza demasiado visible?

No lo sabemos. Lo que sí sabemos es que no pudimos apreciarlo en su máximo esplendor, lo que fue particularmente doloroso en los momentos que más esperábamos, es decir, los de los coros explosivos de sus emblemáticas baladas. Para ser justos, hubo otros momentos -no pocos- en los que se le escuchó estupendamente, reproduciendo el tono agudo de costumbre y conservando ese ‘vibrato’ que no logra ser mantenido por los cantantes que tienen la garganta irremediablemente dañada.

El repertorio

Por supuesto, estamos ante un vocalista de gran técnica que planifica todo de manera cuidadosa y que sabe disimular sus carencias, lo que hace que ninguno de sus shows resulte una completa decepción. Además, fuera del soporte que pueda darle la audiencia, no hay que olvidarse nunca de quienes se encuentran a su lado sobre el tabladillo, en este caso, un grupo de más de 10 personas (entre encargados de la sección de vientos, las percusiones, los teclados, la guitarra eléctrica, el bajo y los coros) que hizo de manera completamente profesional lo que le correspondía.

Hubo más por el lado instrumental, gracias a la ya habitual participación del legendario Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, que apareció en el tabladillo para ofrecer primero a solas “La fiesta del mariachi” y que, después de eso, ya con el astro en el micrófono, tocó dos temas adicionales (“La bikina” y “La media vuelta”) para dar cuenta de ese interés por el folklore mexicano que Luis Miguel ha hecho evidente a través de dos álbumes: el citado “¡México por siempre!” y el más antiguo “México en la piel” (2004).

La presente gira, que no tiene un nombre específico (bueno, esta parte se llama supuestamente “Tour 2024”), ha estado recurriendo a una lista de canciones prácticamente inamovible, por lo que, en el plano musical, lo que se escuchó en la Toyota Arena no ofreció novedades. Consistió, por lo tanto, en una sesión de ‘hits’ compuesta por interpretaciones de pop bailable, baladas, boleros y piezas mexicanas tradicionales.

El férreo mantenimiento de este molde podría decepcionar a quienes esperen sorpresas, sobre todo en el caso de los fanáticos que deciden asistir a diferentes shows del mismo cantante. Pero es una estrategia habitual en artistas de este nivel que se embarcan en recorridos particularmente extensos y exigentes, donde muchas de las fechas se dan de manera continua.

Fiesta de exitos

Tomando en cuenta el abultado repertorio que posee, Luis Miguel ha venido brindando desde hace tiempo diversas sesiones de popurrís que, en la presente gira, han incluido un segmento de boleros (con la incorporación de “Solamente una vez”, “Somos novios” y “Nosotros”, entre otros), dos de pop rítmico (donde figuran “Un hombre busca una mujer”, “Cuestión de piel” y “La chica del bikini azul” y “Cuando calienta el sol”) y dos de baladas (en el que aparecen “Fría como el viento”, “Entrégate”, “Palabra de honor” y “La incondicional”).

Los que quieran escuchar alguna de esas canciones en su totalidad no se encontrarán satisfechos con la decisión; pero esta sirve evidentemente para tratar de complacer a todos por igual, y le dan de paso un dinamica incuestionable al show, que incluyó también duetos virtuales con los fallecidos Michael Jackson (durante la interpretación de “Smile”, un tema original de Charles Chaplin) y Sinatra (mientras se escuchaban los acordes de “Come Fly with Me”). Musicalmente, lo más sobresaliente en este segmento fue el vibrante final de ‘big band’ que el grupo insertó en la segunda pieza.

Tampoco faltaron las rendiciones individuales -y esta vez completas- de temas como “Será que no me amas” (original de The Jacksons), “Culpable o no”, “Hasta que me olvides” y “Te propongo esta noche”, presentados casi todos al inicio de un show que, en medio de lo señalado, no dejó de causar entusiasmo entre los asistentes de diferentes generaciones que llenaron el auditorio.

Ante nuestra vista y nuestros oídos, estos manifestaron constantemente la felicidad que les producía poder compartir el mismo recinto con su amado Luis Miguel, un artista con más de cuatro décadas de carrera que parece encontrarse más allá del bien y del mal.

Desde aquel momento se volvieron inseparables . Paloma incluso acompañó a Luis Miguel en los primeros conciertos de su gira mundial , que inició en agosto de 2023 en Buenos Aires. Pero la empresaria está volcada en el cuidado de sus dos hijas, en sus padres y en su trabajo como diseñadora , por lo que tiene su vida en Madrid. Sin embargo, intentan verse cuando sus agendas se lo permiten.

El pasado 19 de abril, el intérprete de La Incondicional cumplió 54 años. Imparable, batiendo récords y sumando éxitos a su impresionante trayectoria, ya acumula más de 100 actuaciones desde que arrancó el tour internacional. Pero lo que el astro latino no podía imaginar era que iba a tener el mejor regalo de todos : celebrarlo junto a su gran amor, Paloma, que viajó a Estados Unidos para poder pasar con el artista este día tan señalado.

Su romántico reencuentro se produjo en Los Ángeles, unos días antes de que Luis Miguel recalara en Las Vegas para ofrecer otro de sus multitudinarios conciertos. Allí, en plena California, festejaron el cumpleaños del artista en una fiesta privada . El cantante, elegante con un smoking, y Paloma, con un vestido de su propia colección — un diseño de escote asimétrico en un favorecedor tono aguamarina a juego con sus fabulosos pendientes—, llegaron juntos.

Cogidos de la mano, cómplices y con una sonrisa que refleja el momento que están viviendo, fueron vistos entrando en el restaurante antes de la celebración. Con total normalidad, como una pareja más, parecía no importarles ser el centro de todas las miradas, porque, aunque llevan su relación con absoluta discreción, despiertan una gran expectación a su paso. La guapa cordobesa siempre ha llamado la atención por su elegancia y el ‘Sol de México’ siempre ha sido uno de los cantantes más atractivos, carismáticos y elegantes.

Fue una celebración familiar , en la que Luis Miguel sopló las velas junto a Paloma y los suyos. Por supuesto, no faltó el Mariachi Vargas, que le dedicó Las mañanitas al ídolo lationamericano. No fue éste el único lugar en el que escuchó la tradicional canción mexicana con la que se felicita a los cumpleañeros: también su público se la cantó en el concierto que ofreció en Las Vegas, el mismo día de su aniversario. El cantante no pudo evitar emocionarse por este gesto de cariño de los incondicionales fans que tiene a lo largo y ancho del planeta.

The 2024 Latin American Music Awards brought the heat to Las Vegas!

Hosted by Becky G , Thalía , Alejandra Espinoza, and Carlos Ponce, the award show aired live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Thursday, April 25.

Over 30 performers took the stage including Feid and Peso Pluma , who each scored 12 award nominations.

The night also had special honorees like Banda MS and Ricardo Montaner, who received the Latin AMA Legacy Award, and Yandel, who was recognized with the Latin AMA Pioneer Award.

How Los Angeles' Fiesta Broadway Executed Its Revival After a 4-Year Hiatus

Miguel’s 2023 tour officially kicked off Aug. 3 in Buenos Aires, Argentina , with the singer performing over 50 songs from his vast catalog, including timeless hits such as “La incondicional,” “Ahora te puedes marchar,” and “Hasta que me olvides.” 

The highly-anticipated tour is Miguel’s first outing since his 2018-2019 México por Siempre tour, which grossed $101.4 million and sold 965,000 tickets across 116 shows, according to Billboard Boxscore. It was the highest grossing  Latin  tour in Boxscore history until last year when  Bad Bunny ‘s El Último Tour del Mundo and World’s Hottest Tour surpassed it.

The México por Siempre tour coincided with the first season of Luis Miguel: The Series , based on Miguel’s life and premiering in April 2018. The second and third seasons of the series streamed on Netflix in 2021, in the middle of the pandemic, heightening interest in Miguel and his catalog, despite the fact that he hasn’t released a studio album since 2017’s ¡Mexico Por Siempre !

Luis Miguel Tour 2024 tickets go on presale Thursday, Aug. 10 at 10 am ET, and all tickets will go on sale Aug. 11 for the U.S.

Ticket sales in other countries will be announced individually.

Karol G and Feid took home the most awards during the 2024 Latin American Music Awards in Las Vegas on Thursday night.

Though Karol didn’t attend the ceremony in person, she won six awards, including artist of the year and album of the year for her 2023 record “Mañana Será Bonito.” The album won album of the year at the Latin Grammys and was the urban album of the year at the Anglo Grammys. Karol also won song of the year for her anthemic “TQG,” a song she shares with Shakira.

The night was jam packed with performances and single premieres , including “Ale Ale,” a new single off Marc Anthony’s new LP “Muevense.” Thalia, who delivered an eye-popping performance of her own, hosted the evening along with presenter Alejandra Espinoza, and singer-songwriter and television personality Carlos Ponce. Becky G was announced as a host a few days ahead of the show.
