The Icy Tour is a live concert tour by Twenty One Pilots and the second leg of the Takeover Tour . The tour is in support of their sixth studio album, Scaled and Icy in North America. The tour started on August 18, 2022, and is scheduled to end on September 24, 2022.

On November 12, 2022, the band plays at the GP Week festival in Brazil. It was an extra and, supposed to be, the last show before the hiatus to producce their seventh studio album, Clancy .

From March 18 to April 1, 2023, there was a not official third leg of the tour in Latin America. They were scheduled to replace Blink-182's at festivals such as Lollapalooza Brasil, Chile and Argentina, Estéreo Picnic in Colombia, Asuncionico in Paraguay and Tecate Pa'l Norte in Mexico.

The dates between November 12, 2022 and April 1, 2023, are not an official tour leg. However, the shows was also in support of the Scaled and Icy album, in addition to playing the tracklist from The Icy Tour .

Twenty One Pilots is headed on tour in 2022. On Friday (Nov. 19), the rock duo announced the news via social media with a supercut video consisting of footage from their stadium-size live shows, and a list of tour dates in North America spanning from mid-August to the end of September.

The Icy Tour picks up where the band’s recent Takeøver Tour left off, which saw members Josh Dun and Tyler Joseph playing multiple shows in Denver, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta, Mexico City, London and their native Columbus, Ohio, in fall 2021. “We come for you ψ starting this fall. the TAKEØVER TOUR spends one week in each city, moving venue to venue, from the small club to the arena,” the band shared back in June .

Currently, Twenty One Pilots have two North American shows left to play in 2022, both in Florida: the 97X Next Big Thing festival in Tampa on Dec. 3, and the Audacy Beach Festival in Fort Lauderdale on Dec. 4.

In addition to the tour announcement, the group surprised fans with the release of Scaled and Icy (Livestream Version). The original version of the album charted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 following its release.

Twenty One Pilots Announce 2022 “The Icy Tour” Dates 

Twenty One Pilots announced a sprawling slate of 2022 tour dates – bringing The Icy Tour to Europe and North America beginning in June. Following EU and UK dates in June and July, the tour swings to the western side of the Atlantic in August and September, with 22 dates planned across cities in the U.S. and Canada.

“The Icy Tour is coming to North America next year,” reads the announcement posted to Twitter by the group, accompanied by a video from past performances that ends with a “see you soon” tagline and the link to the full tour dates.

Tickets for the Twenty One Pilots 2022 tour dates are on sale beginning next week. The band is asking fans to register for the Ticketmaster Verified Fan system, which gauges fan demand in an effort to determine the proper dynamic pricing processes, and doles out presale codes.  Registration for the Verified Fan presale ( link here ) is open until Sunday, November 21 at noon, eastern time.

Following the Verified Fan presale, tickets will go on sale to the general public at the end of next week.

The U.S. leg of The Icy Tour begins on August 18 at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota and continues through the next five weeks, wrapping on Saturday, September 24 at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. In between, stops include Madison Square Garden in New York, Bell Centre in Montreal, Capital One Arena in Washington, Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Chase Center in San Francisco, and Moda Center in Portland.

Produced by Live Nation, the coast-to-coast 23-city outing will kick off on August 18 th in St. Paul, MN and make stops in New York City, Toronto, Nashville, Anaheim, and more before wrapping up with a performance at Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena on September 24 th [full itinerary below]. CONCERT REVIEW: Twenty One Pilots’ The Icy Tour At Madison Square Garden

On Tuesday, August 23rd, legendary alt-rock duo twenty one pilots performed at the historic Madison Square Garden in Manhattan, New York, for a stop on their North American Icy Tour. It. Was. Incredible. (This article describes the setlist and visuals for the Icy Tour in depth. This is your spoiler warning.) Before I delve into the excellency of the mainstage, an applause to the opener: Peter McPoland. McPoland opened the night with an energy unmatched by any performer I’ve ever seen. He performed cornerstones of his discography, including Shit Show and Romeo and Juliet, and between his songs, wherein he seemed as though he was possessed by his own creations, he talked back to the crowd with a comfortability and humility that made the entire performance refreshing and enjoyable. It was impossible not to smile and jam during his set. The main event opened with a brand new opening-visual, featuring lead singer Tyler Joseph and drummer Josh Dun as they explore an icy wasteland, and eventually encounter a blue door floating in the sky. The duo are sucked into this blue door in the video, and seamlessly exit a blue door on the floor in the real-life mainstage. The set opened the same as their Takeover Tour, which traversed across the U.S. in late 2021, with a performance of Scaled and Icy’s Billy-Joel-esque opening track Good Day transitioning into the heavy-hitting alt-rap chant No Chances. The third song to make its way to the stage was a surprise: Guns for Hands , a 2011 release off of Regional At Best that was later remastered for 2013’s Vessel. Guns for Hands has been notably absent in live performance since the mid 2010s, and has made its way back to the stage following the release of Scaled and Icy , being played at the small-club shows for the Takeover Tour. More twenty one pilots mainstay live moments ensued, such as the Holding Onto You flip and the Lane Boy intro and mosh. On B-stage, Tyler led the crowd through a Mulberry Street phone-flashlight light-show, instructing the crowd when to hold up their flashlights. It was a wonder to see: 10,000 people all perfectly and simultaneously leading a feat of live visual effects. After Mulberry Street , Tyler, alone on the B-stage, performed a medley of one song from each album, including Addict with a Pen, Forest, Ode to Sleep, Hometown, Bandito, and Choker. Tyler transitioned back to the mainstage and performed a familiar campfire set with the backing band and Josh . Since the release of Scaled and Icy , the band’s live performances have included acoustic covers of songs, as the boys and their post-2021 backing band sit around a campfire. After the campfire, the band transitioned into rapid-fire twenty one pilots classics, including Jumpsuit with a transition directly into Heavydirtysoul , My Blood with a transition directly into Saturday , and featuring a Josh Dun drum-crowd-ride. (If you can’t imagine what that looks like, Google it.) A few songs later, Car Radio transitioned directly into Billboard-topper Stressed Out , which featured a fun live-moment new to the Skeleton Clique: Tyler Joseph crowd-surfing an air mattress from the B-stage all the way back to the mainstage. The show concluded, as all twenty one pilots shows do, with an electric performance of Trees , ultimately ending with the boys crowd-standing with bass drums and shooting confetti all the way to Brooklyn. Tyler and Josh climbed back onto the stage and hit-it-home with their time-honored phrase: “We’re twenty one pilots and so are you. We’ll see you next time. Peace.” Before I begin the final paragraph of praise for all the performers, I can’t write about this show without mentioning the ugly. Many fans were left with a sour taste in their mouth after The Garden failed on many accounts to properly accommodate and communicate with disabled fans. It is an unfortunate reality that, often out of the public-eye, disabled fans still often struggle to have the same enjoyable concert experiences as able-bodied individuals. Overall, though, the Icy Tour at Madison Square Garden was an incredible show, all the way from Peter McPoland ’s high energy and explosive passion to the Clique throwing up their three fingers. Twenty One Pilots are back on the road!

The Grammy-winning duo just kicked off The Icy Tour with a show at the Xcel Energy Center on Thursday (August 18) in St. Paul, Minn.

Josh Dun and Tyler Joseph are on tour right now to celebrate their new album Scaled And Icy . The tour will continue through the end of September with shows in New York, Toronto, Nashville, San Francisco, and more.

Twenty One Pilots opened the show with “Good Day” and they played fan-favorite hits like ”Lane Boy,” “Migraine,” and “Heavydirtysoul” before wrapping up their set with “Stressed Out.” They returned to the stage for two encore songs!

Twenty One Pilots bring the Icy Tour to Footprint Center in Phoenix on Friday, Sept. 16.

The title of the tour refers to "Scaled and Icy," an album that became their third consecutive release to debut in the Top 5 of the Billboard album chart when it arrived in May.

This is the duo's first Valley performance since November 2018, when the Bandito Tour played Footprint Center back when it was still called Talking Stick Resort Arena.

The Arizona Republic responded to Twenty One Pilots' return to the arena that night by noting that " the brand of showmanship that made their first appearance in that venue such an entertaining spectacle was very much in evidence from the time they took the stage for Friday's sold-out stop on the Bandito Tour."

How to get Twenty One Pilots tickets

Tickets for the Icy Tour go on sale at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, at ticketmaster.com.

Fans are encouraged to register now for access to tickets through Verified Fan . As it says on Ticketmaster's website, "Twenty One Pilots want to make sure their fans have the best chance to get tickets to THE ICY TOUR."

Once you’ve registered, you’ll receive a confirmation email with details on what to expect.

Registration closes on 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 21.

All registered fans who are verified will be equally eligible to participate in the Verified Fan ticket opportunity.

If demand for tickets exceeds supply, verified fans may be selected at random to participate.

Due to the limited quantity of tickets, they will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Deluxe edition of 'Scaled and Icy'

In celebration of the upcoming tour, Twenty One Pilots have surprise-released a digital deluxe version of "Scaled and Icy," available now on all streaming platforms.

"Scaled and Icy (Livestream Version)" includes previously unreleased performances of fan favorites from the group’s pioneering global streaming event, “Twenty One Pilots - Livestream Experience.”

Billboard responded to the stream in May with, “After seven months of meticulous planning and two weeks of marathon rehearsals, Twenty One Pilots pulled off a home-brewed Las Vegas-worthy spectacle.”

Twenty One Pilots have also released the much anticipated vinyl version of the album, including limited edition variants. The first pressing features several exclusive color variants including: Light Blue (Twenty One Pilots Official Store), White (Target), Orange (Amazon Music), Clear (local record stores), Curacao (Walmart) and Silver (EMP).

"Scaled and Icy" topped the Billboard's Top Rock and Alternative Albums charts with the biggest opening week for a rock album in 2021.

Tyler Joseph gives update on twenty one pilots’ Clancy music videos

With plans well underway to do a music video for every song on Clancy, twenty one pilots frontman Tyler Joseph has confirmed that they will all come out on the album’s release day.

After recently promising that every song on their new album Clancy will have an accompanying music video, Tyler Joseph has revealed when we’ll be able to watch all of twenty one pilots ’ upcoming promos.

Ahead of the record’s release on May 17 via Fueled By Ramen, the frontman has taken to Twitter/X to reveal that work is well underway on this mammoth visual project, and that all videos “must come out the day the album comes out”.

We’ve already had two of them, of course, in the form of Overcompensate and Next Semester , so that means behind-the-scenes they’re working on at least 11 more (we say ‘at least’ because last month Tyler said one of the songs has “two versions”).

The musician also reveals that drummer Josh Dun “said yes to directing one” of these videos, and Tyler also sends his sympathy to the band’s longtime collaborator Mark Eshleman of Reel Bear Media for such an ambitious job: “Apologies to the team,” Tyler concludes, “but I have a lot of ideas, let’s make this happen.”

In a second, non-Clancy-related update, Tyler has also announced the birth of his and wife Jenna’s son, Tommy – congratulations!
