• 5.00PM - Your tropical evening on the North Borneo Cruise begins at Sutera Marina Jetty. Get ready to become acquainted with the charms of Kota Kinabalu on a whole new level.
• 5.30PM - All aboard! Your evening unfolds along the sultry sun-tinged South China Sea, cruising pass the islands and water villages that dot Sabah’s west coast. You are free to wander around the vessel. Panoramic ocean views, warmth of the setting sun and gentle sea breeze grace the upper-deck while a live band serenades the ethnic themed air-conditioned restaurant below with acoustic favorites.
• 5:40PM - Dinner will be served. Time to sink your teeth into Sabah’s most sought after culinary experience. As the sun sets and the stars come out, Kota Kinabalu’s coastline now comes alive with dazzling city night lights. • We only allow a maximum of 85 passengers for every session. This is to avoid overcrowding and enhance safe distancing. 
• Only Fully Vaccinated Individuals with Low Risk Digital Certificate are allowed onboard. 
• Passengers are to observe 1-Meter Distancing Guidelines for Queue during Registration and Boarding. For group bookings, only one (1) representative from the group is allowed to approach the counter.
• All ages are allowed onboard.
• Seating Allocation:
• Tables and seats are allocated onboard the cruise. Table seating arrangement will follow the safe distancing guidelines set by the Ministry of Health.
• Same group / family to be allocated in same table.
• For couples who wish to have guaranteed private table by the window, surcharges of MYR150/table will apply.

• No outside food and beverages (including Tarap and Durian) are allowed onboard the North Borneo Cruises. There will be a corkage fee applicable for outside beverages.
• Consumption of drugs or contraband or conducting of any illegal activity onboard North Borneo Cruises is strictly prohibited.  North Borneo Cruises shall hold no responsibility or liability for any guests who participates in such activities.
• All guests are required to behave in a respectful manner to the Cruise Captain and all members of the Crew and Cruise Attendants and other guests.  Should any passenger display unruly or violent behavior to anyone onboard North Borneo Cruises, the Operator reserves the right to involve the authorities once cruise has reached mainland.
• In any situation regarding the safety of the vessel and its passengers, the Cruise Captain holds full authority to make the final decision.
• The Operator/Cruise Captain reserves the right to refuse any passenger to board if they are displaying unruly behavior under the influence of alcohol or drugs, without any refund.
• Any damages or loss to equipment onboard or the cruise due to negligence or unruly behavior must be replaced or repaired by the passenger responsible.

A trip that’s best suited for nature lovers looking to experience Sabah's wild side – without having to fly out to Sandakan's Kinabatangan. Encounter primates like the Proboscis Monkey, spot Hornbills and also experience Borneo after-dark as you set out once more on a night river-safari offering dazzling firefly sightings & nocturnal wildlife spotting.

However, as much as we hate to disappoint, we are entering a natural habitat where sightings are common, but it is NOT GUARANTEED.

Named “The Little Kinabatangan” because of the parallel experience it offers, alike to Kinabantangan’s river cruise, minus the hassle of air flights or a 7 hour overland journey.

Though, there is nothing small about this tour. Little Kinabatangan hosts big wildlife wonders. Immerse in nature’s grandiose splurge of beauty, absorb the sights and sounds of the Borneo jungle from the deck of a traditional style river boat.

Get those binoculars on stand-by and keep your eyes peeled for the stunning primordial cratters and often unique wildlife encounters deep into the narrow rainforest creeks of the Tempasuk river.

About The Location

Kawa Kawa, located about 112km northeast of Kota Kinabalu, is accessible in an hour and a half by land. Situated at Kota Belud and surrounded by paddy fields and mangrove forests, the quaint little village of Kawa Kawa is enchanting at first sight. Sungai Tempasuk thrives along Kawa Kawa’s mangrove habitat forming an enticing playground for the Proboscis Monkeys, who swing on the high branches of the trees.  This natural oasis, little touched by men and commercial tourism, has not lost its primitive wildness, and is best suited for nature and wildlife lovers.

Here is your best chance to capture shots of the moving animals in the wild. Don’t forget your binoculars and your cameras!

Sample Itinerary

• Meet and pick up from your Kota Kinabalu hotel lobby and depart for Kawa-Kawa in Kota Belud. The Journey takes about 1 hour 30 minute along quaint villages, smalls towns and local farming areas.
• Upon arrival to the Kawa-Kawa jetty, afternoon tea will be served.
• Start your river cruise through spectacular vistas in search of the endemic proboscis monkeys. You may even catch a glimpse of long-tailed macaques, the rare silver languar, water buffaloes, river otters, different species of birds & other wildlife along the river bank.
• Cruise back for a traditional malay dinner served at the jetty restaurant. After dinner, transfer to Nanamon jetty to witness fireflies.
• As dusk settles in, witness the secret rhythm of fireflies amongst the mangrove trees that lace the Tempasuk River.
• Transfer back to your respective hotel

• Only if you have purchased our “Rain Check Flexi" Cover, you will get a refund for your North Borneo Cruises tour ticket in case of bad weather (excluding “Rain Check Flexi” Cover Fee). You will receive the refund within 14 - 28 working days after the cancellation of your tour.
• Alternatively, we encourage you to purchase the “Rain Check Basic” Cover which allows you to reschedule your North Borneo Cruises tour to another date, up to 2 hours prior to the boarding time if you are uncomfortable to proceed based on unfavourable weather forecasts.
• If you have NOT purchased either of the above mentioned covers, there will be NO refund should you decide not to proceed with the North Borneo Cruises tour.
• In the unlikely event that North Borneo Cruises is unable to operate on that day and provide its standard food and entertainment services and facilities use (apart from bad weather and sea conditions), you will be given options for alternative cruise dates or compensation for services not received.

General Notes

• Guests are to arrive at Sutera Marina Jetty at least 30 minutes prior to cruise boarding time.
• No outside food and beverages (including Tarap and Durian) are allowed onboard the North Borneo Cruises. There will be a corkage fee applicable for outside beverages.
• Due to dim lights, please mind your step when walking along the jetty at night.
• Smoking is strictly limited to the designated area outside the restaurant. Please do not throw cigarette butts, matches, or cigar ends over the side of the ship.
• Please pay attention to the safety briefing and announcements made by the crew for a seamless cruise experience.
• Consumption of drugs or contraband or conducting of any illegal activity onboard North Borneo Cruises is strictly prohibited. North Borneo Cruises shall hold no responsibility or liability for any guests who participates in such activities.
• All guests are required to behave in a respectful manner to the Cruise Captain and all members of the Crew and Cruise Attendants and other guests. Should any passenger display unruly or violent behavior to anyone onboard North Borneo Cruises, the Operator reserves the right to involve the authorities once cruise has reached mainland.
• In any situation regarding the safety of the vessel and its passengers, the Cruise Captain holds full authority to make the final decision.
• The Operator/Cruise Captain reserves the right to refuse any passenger to board if they are displaying unruly behavior under the influence of alcohol or drugs, without any refund.
• Any damages or loss to equipment onboard or the cruise due to negligence or unruly behavior must be replaced or repaired by the passenger responsible.
• North Borneo Cruises will not be liable for any injury received by passengers that are caused due to negligence or unruly or violent behavior onboard.
• Children (11 years and below) are to be supervised by an adult at all times. North Borneo Cruises crew and cruise attendants is not responsible or liable for them.
• Passengers with disabilities must be accompanied by a carer at all times. North Borneo Cruises crew and cruise attendants will take reasonable care in bringing them onboard, but is not responsible or liable for their movement while onboard.
