Best tours in Melbourne
1. Hidden Secrets Tours
Whether you're a tourist or a local, you're bound to discover something new about Melbourne on a Hidden Secrets tour. The laneways and arcades tour will take you in and out of Melbourne's famous back alleys, teaching you some interesting history along the way. Block Arcade and Royal Arcade are covered, as well as some much less well-known places. For example, did you know about EW Cole's giant three-storey book arcade? Very little remains of it, but it was once the pride of Melbourne – and a morality tale about the dangers of keeping monkeys in bookshops. Hidden Secrets also offers food-related tours, including a progressive degustation. Various locations and times around Melbourne. $99
2. Taste of Melbourne tour
A history of Melbourne's food culture is, in many ways, a history of Melbourne. From Chinese immigrants during the gold rush to Italian, Greek and other waves of new Melburnians brought their culinary traditions with them. The tour starts at the top of Spring Street and travels down through the CBD, pointing out famous Melbourne eateries and their histories along the way. Highlights include Spring Street Grocer (and its intriguing cheese cave ), Florentino (now Grossi Florentino), Pellegrini's , and Chinatown gems like HuTong . Or course there are snacks along the way (a coffee, ice cream, egg tart and curry puff on the day we went), plus lunch is included. The tour also includes plenty of suggestions for excellent restaurants to try in the future, so bring a notebook. Departs Princess Theatre , every Fri & Sat 10.30am. $139.
3. Parliament House Tour
You don't have to have political aspirations to enjoy the tour at Parliament House. For one, it's free, and who doesn't like a freebie? Aside from walking in the same hallowed halls as our current and former state pollies, the tour takes in the incredibly ornate architecture and reveals some of the building's less illustrious moments. Like when a cricket ball broke Queen Victoria's arm (sort of). Parliament House , daily. Free.
4. Old Melbourne Gaol Ghost Tour
More than 100 people were executed at Old Melbourne Gaol, making it ideal for a ghost tour. The 'Ghosts? What ghosts!' tour will have you walking around the gaol in the dark while learning all about the mysterious (and reportedly true) ghost sightings that happened there. See ghostly photos, hear gruesome tales and step inside the incredibly haunted cell 17 (if you dare). Guests also get ten minutes at the end of the tour to look around the gaol with the lights on – or see if they can snap a spooky photo of their own. Old Melbourne Gaol , various nights. 8.30-9.30pm (arrive 8.15pm). $35-$38.
5. Highlights of Melbourne Cruise
Discover Melbourne's history and highlights on this guided Yarra River cruise. On your two-hour journey, you'll cruise past towering skyscrapers, lovely urban gardens and lush banks. There will be ample opportunities to photograph the skyline as you listen to onboard commentary from your guide. Various times, from $45.
6. Melbourne Street Art Tour
Melbourne is known for its abundance of street art, but sometimes it's hard to know where to find the crème de la crème. That's where this tour comes in. Across three hours, you and the crew will get an in-depth look at Melbourne's street art scene, including a visit to the famous Blender Studios. Departs from ACMI, Tue, Thu & Sat. From $80.
7. Royal Botanic Gardens Aboriginal Heritage Walk
Take a journey into ancestral lands of the Kulin nation in this guided walk through the Royal Botanic Gardens. Kicking off at 11am Sunday through Friday, this tour gives visitors insight into how the local people lived within different environments found within the gardens, from forest to rainforest and nearby wetlands. The tour includes a traditional Tanderrum smoking ceremony and Welcome to Country, and visitors discover traditional uses of plants for food, tools and medicine. The tour finishes with a refreshing cup of lemon myrtle tea. Tours are suitable for adults and children over five, and they begin at the Gardens’ Visitor Centre. Royal Botanic Gardens , Sun & Thu from $40.
8. Melbourne Bargain Shopping Tour
Who doesn't love a bargain?! This eight-hour tour will give you the inside scoop on Melbourne's best discounts across popular shopping strips like Swan Street and Bridge Road. Save on everything from shoes, handbags, clothing and housewares. Departs from 14 Russell Street, Saturdays; $149.
9. Dome to Catacomb Tour
First established in 1854, the State Library of Victoria houses upwards of 2 million books, with thousands of Melburnians passing through its hallowed halls daily. The library is home to some of the city’s most interesting heritage spaces, and hopping on a free 90-minute Dome to Catacomb Tour is your best bet to see it all, from top to bottom. Visitors will get an aerial view of the famous Domed Reading Room from the Library’s sixth floor and learn the history behind its construction (fun fact: those rickety wooden chairs have remained in that room since 1913!) You’ll see collection storage areas not usually open to the general public and descend towards the original Melbourne Museum catacombs. It’s a rare opportunity to sneak a peek behind the scenes of this remarkable building. State Library of Victoria , various days and times. Free.
10. Melbourne Dumpling Walking Tour
Every Melburnian has a strong opinion on where you can find the best dumplings in our city, and now it's time for you to figure out the truth for yourself. Join a guided tour through Chinatown that'll have you sampling a variety of dumplings at different venues. Departs 40 Elizabeth Street on Wednesdays at 6pm; from $85.
11. Melbourne Cricket Ground tour
The historic Melbourne Cricket Ground (known by locals as the 'G) is the beating heart of Australia's sporting capital. It's one of the largest stadiums in the world, and it has been in a state of almost constant renewal since being built in 1853. If you can't get enough of your sport, then the MCG tour is a must – as is imagining yourself as a player as you step out onto the ground from the changing rooms (which, incidentally, smell exactly as you'd expect). And this is just the beginning of the tour: your knowledgeable guide will lead you through the MCC Long Room, the MCC Library, the media centre, the cricketers' viewing room and up to the City Terrace, which offers one of Melbourne's best skyline views. Cricket nerds will froth over the chance to see portraits of Sir Donald Bradman and Sachin Tendulkar, and no matter your level of interest in cricket or AFL, the experience offers a fascinating slice of Melbourne history. Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) , every 30 minutes, 9am-4pm daily. Exceptions include game days, hours vary on Saturdays. $30.

My first glance at a map of the Melbourne CBD was a little overwhelming. There is quite a lot of ground to cover in order to see the top Melbourne sights. However, when we hit the pavement, we found Melbourne to be a very walkable city. With just a few hours, an ambitious person could easily complete this self-guided walking tour of Melbourne; with added detours and stops, it can be done in a day!
Free Self-Guided Walking Tour of Melbourne
Walking tours of Melbourne are an ideal way to get acquainted with the city center – or the Central Business District (CBD) as locals call it. While there are numerous Melbourne Walking Tours that are led by guides, we created this Free Melbourne Walking Tour for visitors who like to explore at their own pace.
At the end of the post, we share our top tips for Melbourne City Walks, suggestions for themed and guided walking tours in Melbourne and two maps so that you can find your way to each sight. We also include turn-by-turn directions within our Melbourne Free Tour.
Pro Tip: There are heaps of distractions along the way (many of which we point out during the Melbourne walk), if you have the time, go explore and enjoy!

#1 Queen Victoria Market
The historic Melbourne market has been in operation since 1878 and is now spread over two city blocks. Allow yourself some time, grab a coffee to go and peruse the stalls. Besides the fresh produce market, there is an indoor deli, outdoor general merchandise market and several permanent stores around the QVM perimeter.
Pro Tip : Find out more about visiting the QVM in our complete article: Queen Victoria Market: Day, Night and Weekend.
Walk east on Victoria Street to Swanston and head south to Latrobe to the…
#2 State Library of Victoria
The State Library of Victoria is the second stop on our Melbourne Free City Tour. The library opened in 1856 and has been growing ever since, now holding a collection of more than 2 million books, art galleries and historical exhibits.
Pro Tip : It is free to enter the library – and we recommend going in to take a look around and view the impressively domed La Trobe Reading Room. Then, go upstairs for a view from above on the balcony and a peek at the historical exhibits as well.
Continue east on Latrobe to Russell Street and turn north to the…
#3 Old Melbourne Gaol
The Old Melbourne Jail is a must-see when city sightseeing Melbourne. The jail operated from 1842 until 1929 as a prison and where criminals who had been sentenced to death were hanged, including the (in)famous Ned Kelly .
Pro Tip : The Old Melbourne Gaol is one of the most popular museums in Melbourne – and a ticket is required to enter. Visitors interested in learning about Australia’s most notorious criminals and exploring the prison cells should book a ticket in advance .
Continue north on Russell Street as it turns into Lygon Street and turn right onto Queensberry Street and head east to the…
#4 Carlton Gardens and Royal Exhibition Building
One of the most beautiful places in Melbourne, the Carlton Gardens is the next stop on our tour. Designated a park in 1839, the 64 acres are perfect for a stroll, rest or picnic.
Aim for the center of the park and the Royal Exhibition Building . Built in 1880 for the Melbourne International Exhibition, it was also the site of the first official opening of Australian Parliament in 1901. It was actually set to be demolished, but was saved and remodeled in the late 1990s. In 2004, it received UNESCO World Heritage status.
Continue walking east to Nicholson Street and turn south as it becomes Spring Street, passing the Parliament Gardens and view of St. Patrick’s Cathedral (if time allows, make a detour to visit the church). On the opposite side of Spring street in the historic Princess Theater. Continue south to the steps of…
#5 Parliament House, Melbourne
The Parliament House is a regular stop on all Melbourne CBD Tours. Built between 1856 and 1930, the Parliament House is where both houses of Victoria’s Parliament – the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council – still meet today.
Pro Tip: The interior can be seen by guided tour on non-sitting days or from the public gallery when Parliament is in session – both options are free!
For architecture and gold lovers, make a little detour and continue south to the Old Treasury Building , which is free to enter and includes intriguing exhibits detailing Melbourne history. For those short on time, cross Spring Street to Bourke Street and head west to Exhibition Street. Go north to Little Bourke and turn west into…
#6 Chinatown, Melbourne
The next stop on our Melbourne Free Walking Tour is fascinating Chinatown. Marked by ornately painted gates and hanging lanterns, walk the length of Chinatown . Like so many foreigners, the Chinese were also drawn to Melbourne in the 1850’s by the prospect of finding gold. Land was purchased by many Chinese people along Little Bourke and the thriving Chinatown remains today with a bevy of Asian restaurants and shops.
Pro Tip: Among the many places and things to eat in Melbourne, Dumplings in Chinatown are a must-try! We feasted at the no-frills, budget-friendly Shanghai Dumpling House – which is open for lunch and dinner.
Continue west to Swanston Street and turn south to…
#7 Bourke Street Mall
Continue on your tour of Melbourne City on the Bourke Street Mall. The retail mecca includes everything from high end shops (hello, Tiffany’s) to the necessities (Target) to the flagship store of the Australian department store chain Myer. With wide sidewalks, there is plenty of room for Melbourne street performers to entertain those less interested in shopping.
Pro Tip : As you walk down the street, don’t miss Union Lane for a glimpse at Melbourne’s fabulous street art along the way.
Continue walking west on Bourke Street to the Royal Arcade (then go inside and walk south).
#8 Royal Arcade Melbourne
Often included on Melbourne Laneway Tours, the Royal Arcade is a quaint covered shopping street that has been around since 1869. The lane is filled with top-end stores and posh cafes.
Pro Tip: Don’t miss the statues of Gog and Magog, two mythical creatures guarding Gaunt’s Clock since 1892, that stand above the entrance.
Emerging onto Little Collins, zig zag west and then south into…
#9 Block Arcade Melbourne
Another upscale covered shopping lane – and perhaps even more opulent than Royal Arcade – Block Arcade , or just ‘The Block’, was once the place to be seen in Melbourne. Opened in the year 1893, The Block Arcade features a hand-laid Italian tile floor, glass ceilings and classic Victorian architecture.
Pro Tip : The two must-see shops at The Block are the Hopetoun Tea Room and Haigh’s Chocolates.
Exiting on Collins Street, turn left and walk east to Swanston St and to the…
#10 Melbourne Town Hall
Completed in 1870, the Melbourne Town Hall is a historically important social and cultural site in the city. It is also where city council members still meet. Inside, there is an auditorium and a beautiful organ (check the schedule for free organ concerts).
Pro Tip : Visitors can take fee tours of the Town Building, but they must be booked in advance!
Continue walking east on Collins Street, passing the Scots’ Church and turn south on Russell Street. Walk south to Flinders Lane. Rock and roll enthusiasts might want to detour east to AC/DC Lane for street art and a pop into Cherry Bar. Otherwise, turn right and walk west to…
#11 Hosier Lane Street Art
The next stop on our Free Walking Tour of Melbourne is Hosier Lane. One of the best known laneways in Melbourne for amazing street art, get a good, up-close look at the murals on the walls. It isn’t graffiti, which is illegal in Melbourne. The works on this street are commissioned and it’s likely you’ll see someone working on a spray paint masterpiece when you walk through.
Pro Tip : Find out more about the history and culture of Melbourne’s laneways and street art in our guide: Laneways in Melbourne: Alleys, Arcades and Street Art.
At Flinders Street, turn right and walk west to…
#12 St. Paul’s Cathedral, Melbourne
Next up on our Melbourne Walk is St. Paul’s Cathedral. The first stone of St. Paul’s Cathedral , a gothic-style church, was laid in 1880, but the spires weren’t completed until 1933. The gorgeous interior includes original baptismal fonts and an 1891 organ.
Pro Tip: Guests can use the descriptive brochures provided at the back of the church to complete an informative self-guided tour of the cathedral.
Just south of the Cathedral is…
#13 Federation Square
Anyone who walks around Melbourne will likely end up in Federation Square; it’s at the heart of the city and an entertainment hub. Federation Square , which opened in 2002, is a public space that features galleries, museums, restaurants, bars and a place to sit back and relax. Although the square is quite modern, there is a much longer history of this location, tracing back to Aboriginals. The unique architecture is meant to bring different parts together as a whole.
Pro Tip : One of the most popular features of Federation Square is the Digital Façade – or the Big Screen. The gigantic screen streams live sports, news and events, so be sure to take a glance to see what’s on!
Just west of Federation Square is…
#14 Flinders Street Station
All Melbourne Sightseeing Tours include a stop at Flinders Street Station ; it has long been one of the busiest- and most beautiful – stations in Melbourne. The structure occupies 2 city blocks and is the city’s central hub of transportation. Built in 1909, the Flinders Street Station building is truly a Melbourne landmark.
The corner entrance of Flinders Street Station displays a row of clocks showing the next train departure on each line. In 1983, the clocks were removed and replaced by digital readings. The public was so upset by the change that they brought back the old clocks in one day’s time. If you hear someone say, “Meet you under the clocks,” this is where you will find them.
Head south on St. Kilda Road, crossing Princes Bridge. On the bridge, to the east, you can see the…
#15 Princes Bridge and Classic Melbourne Views
The 400 foot long Princes Bridge spans the Yarra River as part of St Kilda Road. It stands on the site of one of Melbourne’s oldest river crossings and provides wonderful scenic city views to the west.
Looking to the east, you’ll see the Melbourne Cricket Ground, which is better known as the MCG or just The G. The 100,000 seat sports stadium was built in 1853 and is the biggest stadium in Australia (and the Southern Hemisphere) – and the 11th largest in the world.
Pro Tip: The stadium is now mostly used for Melbourne’s founding game, Australian Football, but also for cricket matches, concerts and in 1956 it hosted the Summer Olympics.
Finish crossing the bridge. From here, those that fancy a bit of nature may want to detour south to the Royal Botanical Gardens (free to enter). War history buffs will want to head south to the Shrine of Remembrance (also free to enter). Otherwise, continue west along the river to…
#16 Eureka Tower and Melbourne Skydeck
You don’t need to go on a Melbourne CBD Walking Tour to see the Eureka Tower; it’s visible from all over the city. However, when you stand at the base of the Eureka Tower and look up at the 975-foot-tall building it seems to go on forever. The top 10 levels are golden in appearance because the glass is gold. The 24-carat gold-plated windows are a nod to Melbourne’s historic gold rush of the 1850s.
Pro Tip: With a ticket , visitors are invited to ride the elevator up to the 88th floor Melbourne Skydeck (formerly the Eureka Skydeck) and take in the view, which is astounding .
Continue strolling west along the Yarra River toward the Polly Woodside ship and take a walk along the…
#17 Polly Woodside and South Wharf Promenade
The Polly Woodside is a preserved trade ship that was launched in Belfast in 1885. Famous for her sixteen successful voyages around Cape Horn between 1885 and 1903, she was fully restored and opened to the public in 1978.
Continue your Free Walking Tour Melbourne along the beautiful riverside stretch in South Wharf. The stylish South Wharf Promenade is lined with fun bars and modern restaurants – and is anchored by the Melbourne Convention Center and DFO Shopping Centre.
Pro Tip: Any number of the South Wharf waterfront establishments are the perfect place to have a meal or a drink with a view. It’s particularly nice at sunset!
Continue along the promenade and cross the Webb Bridge and head into the…
#18 Docklands Melbourne
The Docklands District is the last stop on our Self-Guided Free Tour of Melbourne. The historic area dates to the 1850s when the Victoria Harbor (then called Victoria Dock) was the main port in Melbourne, accepting both immigrants and shipments.
The harbor continued to be in use until the 1960s when it was deemed too small for cargo ships. A revitalization project renamed it the Docklands and has breathed new life into the area. Soaring, shining skyscrapers have shot up along the beautiful promenade, which offers a slew of waterfront restaurants alongside entertainment venues.
After you explore the Docklands, catch a Free City Circle Tram back to the Melbs CBD.

Great Ocean Road and Rainforest Walk 1 DAY
Such a great way to see all of the highlights of the Great Ocean Road. It was a long day but Courtney (our guide) ensured that we had an amazing day by keeping it fun and up beat the entire way. She obviously knew what she was doing and went above and beyond to try and make sure that we got the most out of our day. She tried her hardest to ensure that we would see wild kangaroos and koalas and informed us about the hidden treasures at each stop, like the Vegemite ice-cream.

A great tour with a great guide. We saw some beautiful and amazing sights. Jens took good care of us and made sure we all got to do what we wanted. I saw and learned so much, and with a small friendly group of co travellers. The swimming at Port Fairy was the best.

3 Day Melbourne to Adelaide
We enjoyed our three-day trip tremendously! Our driver-guide, Eddy, was very knowledgeable about interesting places to see, and he filled us in on the background information that made the site even more memorable.
3 Day Great Ocean Road and Grampians
This was our first time to Australia and we saw & learned so much in four packed days. Pierre was amazing, a non-stop stream of information on just about anything. I was constantly asking questions and never had one that he didn’t have the answer for. For example, while on the road between stops, I asked about the indigenous peoples of Australia and got a half hour thorough (and sometimes sad) lecture on their history. The hotels and included meals were first rate. Highly recommended.
Great Ocean Road & Grampians Adventure
I have just filled in the review for Inspiration I am confused about which company organised it we have Intrepid., Inspiration and Tour Radar. I found the organisation poor and the amount of detail given to passengers lacking and confusing as other passengers had different details at times eg. the number of breakfasts some had 3 others had 5. The tour guide was not given enough details as he often had to ring the office for clarification eg. which motel we were booked into. We were not informed of the starting point and I had to ring to find out and then it was very vague eg told The Melbourne GAllery but we went there and it was closed so looked up the street to find the bus in a gutter with the doors open so assumed it was the one. The guide was excellent and deserves a pat on the back for his patience when he was not informed of details of motels or meal arrangements. We saw a great deal of very interesting views and places. Well worth the upsets and confusion .but very hesitant to use your company again due to lack of organisation .

What Our Customers Have To Say…
Sit Back and Enjoy the Day
Excellent day out from start to finish. Highly recommend for a day of variety from wine tasting to cheese tasting to delicious lunch at the winery, everything was terrific. The chocolate factory was crowded but the tasting we did here was great - so many delicious chocolate varieties! A Value for Money day and was nice to be driven instead of driving.
Recommended Tour
We had an absolutely fantastic day today on the Great Ocean Road. It was great value for money and our guide was awesome. We had so many laughs and will remember this day for a long time. I would totally recommend this tour to all.
Great Day Out
We did this tour and thoroughly enjoyed our day. The lunch at one of the wineries was the highlights of our tour. Great value for a day out, including pick up at our hotel in Southbank and drop off at about 6pm. Thoroughly recommend.
Breathtaking Views
What a fantastic experience this was. One of the best tours I have been on, it was seamless from start to finish. We got picked up from a really convenient location. Even though the weather was not that great, the view was still stunning. additionally, Our tour guide was amazing. He was very experienced and friendly and made the whole overall trip memorable.
Fun Day and Tour
This tour packed in a lot but it somehow was relaxing too. Our tour guide was wonderful. I liked that the group was small and the bus we went on was comfortable. The lunch was very good and the wines there were the favorites in my group of friends. The chocolate store was crowded but once I tasted the chocolate, it was worth it. Really good. Overall, a very nice day and good value.
Amazing Great Ocean Road Tour!!
My friend and I experienced a Great Ocean Road Tour with Melbourne Tours on 24/8/22. The beautiful scenery spoke for itself – breathtakingly beautiful! Sherif was our wonderful driver and we could have not asked for a better tour guide!! His wealth of knowledge was amazing, nothing was too much for him and he always ensured everyone was comfortable and happy. We cannot speak any higher of the tour and our wonderful guide, Sherif.
Great Ocean Road Tour – Brilliant!
Chris was our guide for the day and he was absolutely brilliant! He has a great wealth of knowledge and expertise, great sense of humor and we couldn’t of asked for a better guide!
Awesome Company - Great Customer Service
This was a great day trip out of Melbourne to some of the fantastic surrounding attractions such as Philip Island, Moonlit Sanctuary, the Nobbies, and Brighton Beach. Our tour guide, Bert, was amazing, and able to answer questions people had about the places we were going, the animals we saw, and Australia in general. I had an absolute blast on this tour!
Great Ocean Road Tour
I thoroughly enjoyed the one day Great Ocean Road tour. Sheridyn was an excellent tour guide. she's very kind and knowledgeable. All of the stops that we made were beautiful. We even stopped in Kennett River so that we could feed the beautiful wild birds by hand and see koalas in the trees.
Great Ocean Road Full Day Tour
A long day, but never to be forgotten. Our guide, Dan, was a fount of knowledge, and a great entertainer. The coach was comfortable. The lunch was fine, and the views just spectacular. The friendly staff, both before and during the tour, made a very long day most enjoyable.
Big THANK YOU!!!
Dear Melbourne Tours team! I would like to thank all of you very much for unforgettable experiences on your tours!!! Our group of 10 people booked 3 different tours with your company and we were extremely satisfied with all of them! The reservation process was very easy. Our driver / guide Chris was just amazing! Great knowledge and excellent interpretation! Dear Melbourne´s Tours team, thank you very much for making our stay in Melbourne even more pleasant and nice! Eva / Prague, Czech Republic
Back for a Tour Again
I have a lot of family from overseas and if they want to visit the Great Ocean Road I always recommend Melbourne Tours. I was lucky enough to go with them this time. Our guide was amazing. He knew his stuff and made the long trip interesting and fun. The meal stop was uncrowded and beautiful. My family always say the highlight is the koalas and the views at the apostles. As the coach is smaller, the tour seems much more intimate and we get to spend a lot of time at the stops. As a travel writer I do get to experience other companies and their tours, but I always (and will always) recommend Melbourne’s Tours. Well Done once again!
Best one day tour from Melbourne
We recently booked a day tour to the Great Ocean Road with Melbourne Tours. Everyone who visits Melbourne should do this tour. We enjoyed great service from the reservations team, to the helpful tour guide on the day. The bus stopped at the best viewing points including a walk through a pristine rain Forrest. An optional helicopter ride over the 12 apostles was the cherry on the cake.

July 16 - July 24
Secret Sounds is thrilled to reveal that ‘America’s favourite indie band’ TV Girl will be bringing their hypnotic pop to Australia and New Zealand in July 2024, gracing stages in Melbourne and Sydney, with a special co-headline show with much loved British five-piece The Last Dinner Party to then head to New Zealand for a one-off show in Auckland.
On the surface, TV Girl is a sunny, throwback splash of ‘60s French pop and southern California soul. Yet, under that shiny veneer lays a dark heart, beating with sharp wit and cynical alienation. TV Girl, composed of Brad Petering, Jason Wyman and Wyatt Harmon, was formed in 2010 by Petering as an outlet to blend the love of Spector-esque girl-group pop with an emerging interest in hip-hop. Featuring shimmering vocals and sampled beats, the self- titled debut EP of the same year turned heads online immediately.
TV Girl will limber up for their anticipated Australian shows at Governors Ball and Bonnaroo, and New Zealand before bringing their lush vintage rhythms our way in July 2024. Presale for all shows starts at 9am local, Thursday 18 April, with tickets available to the general public from 9am local, Friday 19 April. Don’t miss out!

Hayley Erbert has made a triumphant return to the stage. The 29-year-old professional dancer performed on Sunday night alongside husband Derek Hough on his Symphony of Dance tour , becoming overwhelmed with emotion as she received a standing ovation from the audience.
The big moment comes just four months after Erbert was hospitalized with a traumatic brain injury .
In a video of the show's final moments on TikTok, Erbert stands alongside her fellow dancers as the audience cheers. Then, Hough takes a step back to applaud his wife as the other performers follow suit. Erbert touches her hands to her chest and wipes tears from her eyes amid the standing ovation.
"Went in a Derek Hough fan and came out a bigger fan of Hayley," the audience member wrote over the video.
Dancing With the Stars pro Lindsay Arnold was among the commenters singing Erbert's praises, gushing, "You are the strongest most inspiring person I know."
Derek Hough: A Symphony of Dance tour resumed April 14 in Melbourne, Florida, after it was put on pause in December due to Erbert's health scare.
Erbert was rushed to the hospital on Dec. 6 after she became "disoriented" during a performance in Washington, D.C. She was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel, which required an emergency craniectomy. That injury ultimately led to another invasive and painful surger y, which replaced a large portion of her skull .
The show comes less than two weeks after Erbert stunned on the red carpet with Hough, showing off her new pixie 'do, as they celebrated the official launch of Hulu on Disney+.
Back in February, Hough spoke to ET about his wife's recovery . At the time, he said it was "too early to tell" whether Hayley would be ready to physically resume performing.
"Her presence will always be there," he promised.
"She's very stubborn," he teased. "In the best possible way."
Hough also said he was "in awe" of the way Erbert "handled everything with such grace and strength."
"That's just her nature," he raved. "It was incredible."
As for Symphony of Dance, Hough said he was filled with "a sense of gratitude to be back on that stage."
"I really feel like the show we had and will have is so strong," he shared. "What I love is you really see the relationship of the dancers and the band. Every one of us onstage."
Hough added that several of the dancers even went the extra mile to make themselves available for the rescheduled dates.
"This wasn't planned, right? We weren't planning on going out again," he explained. "They already had certain jobs booked and certain things. But I called them and said, 'Hey, we're gonna go back out. Are you available?' And they said, 'You know, actually, I have another gig but I'm gonna find [a] sub for that and we're gonna go finish this thing.'"
Erbert teased her return to the stage last week, sharing a video of rehearsals on her Instagram page.
"What a blessing (and surprise) it is to be able to be back on stage dancing with my love after such a crazy past four months," she wrote. "My healing journey has been nothing short of extraordinary and being able to dance again is igniting my soul in all the ways; speeding up my recovery even more. I am so appreciative of the doctors who have supported me in my decision to dance again and my team of specialists that have been assembled to assure that my health and safety is priority. I cannot wait for you all to see this show! It was so meaningful when we opened last year and now, after everything that has happened, it is truly even more special."

Hayley Erbert Makes Emotional Return to Derek Hough's Symphony of Dance Tour After Emergency Brain Surgery
Hayley Erbert is back on stage!
The 29-year-old dancer returned to the stage at the first night back of the Symphony of Dance Tour in Melbourne, Fla., with husband Derek Hough on Sunday (April 14).
This marks the first time Hayley has performed since her emergency brain surgery in December after a stop on the tour.
Keep reading to find out more…
In videos shared to TikTok, Hayley can be seen hitting the stage for her big comeback after four months of recovery, and in one clip from the curtain call at the end, she gets choked up during a standing ovation.
Towards the end of March, Derek shared a photo of the couple back in the rehearsal studio together, and just a week ago, Hayley confirmed that she had been cleared to dance by her doctors!
We are so happy to see Hayley doing so well!

Hayley Erbert Cries Amid Standing Ovation as She Returns to Derek Hough’s Tour After Brain Surgery
Hayley Erbert had an emotional reaction to the crowd’s standing ovation after her return to husband Derek Hough ‘s Symphony of Dance tour.
In a video posted via TikTok by a showgoer, Erbert, 29, can be seen tearing up as the crowd cheered for her and the rest of the performers onstage after the Sunday, April 14, show in Melbourne, Florida.
The dance pro then got even more emotional after Hough, 38, and the other dancers stepped back to let her soak in the moment.
Fans and fellow dancers were quick to comment on the touching video, with Dancing With the Stars pro Lindsay Arnold Cusick writing, “@Hayley Erbert Hough you are the strongest, most inspiring person I know,” while a fan added, “I love how Derek stepped back and let her have her moment.”

Erbert’s performance in Sunday’s show comes more than four months after she had an emergency craniectomy in December 2023.
“At the end of last night’s tour performance in Washington, D.C., my wife Hayley became disoriented and was taken to the hospital,” Hough wrote via Instagram at the time. “She was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel and required an emergency craniectomy. She is in stable condition.”
According to the Mayo Clinic , an intracranial hematoma is a “collection of blood within the skull.” The surgery involved removing a portion of the skull to relieve the pressure from the extra blood.

Amid Erbert’s health scare, she was able to lean on her husband for support. A source exclusively told Us Weekly in January that the situation had “given them a new appreciation for their life together.” The pair married in August 2023 after eight years of dating.
Earlier this month, Erbert told Good Morning America that she was “so excited to announce that I have been cleared to rejoin the Symphony of Dance tour and I will be dancing when the tour begins on April 14 in Melbourne, Florida.”
Hough added at the time, “We cannot wait to dance together again on stage and be back with all of our fans. Thank you for all the amazing support that you have shown during this time. So we cannot wait and see you very, very soon.”
