“Long before I started traveling solo, Bali made it to the list of places I wanted to visit. ” Read about Kiran and her fresh outlook towards travel as she lays the path for women travelers with handy tips to plan a solo trip to Bali.

Since my childhood days, I’ve had an inclination towards mystical places with jaw-dropping scenic beauty. Bali solo travel ticked all the boxes regarding the places I always wanted to visit like beaches, volcanoes, temples, and coffee plantations.

Must-have experiences on a Bali solo trip

Here are some of the best experiences one must indulge into if they are planning an adventurous solo trip to Bali and break the stereotypes.

Bali had a lot of enticing places to explore for solo travelers . Not only were these places budget-friendly , but there was also a presence of fascinating history and thrilling appeal behind each of the places I visited.

water activities in Bali

1. Watersports At Tanjong Benoa Beach

Best Things To Do On A 7D/6N Romantic Trip To Bali!

In my itinerary I added a watersports package that included scuba diving, undersea walk, parasailing, and jet skiing . Buying an all-inclusive package helped me save a lot of time and money.

It was a thrilling experience doing all the watersport activities ; especially scuba diving. Being a non-swimmer, I had a mild panic attack before going in for the dive. But, the diving instructor was great in calming me down and helping me enjoy underwater.

Tanjung Benoa Watersports package price: INR 2,400 per person

2. Visit The Enchanting Temples

temples in Bali

The first thing from Bali that caught my attention was its mystical and enchanting temples .

Be it watching the sunset at Tanah Lot temple , paddling a boat to arrive at Bedugul temple, or the Kecak dance ceremony at Uluwatu temple visiting the temples in Bali was a memorable experience.

Here are a few of my favorite temples in Bali:

  • Pura Ulun Danu Bratan (commonly known as Bedugul temple)
  • Tanah Lot Temple
  • Uluwatu Temple
  • Goa Gajah Temple

3. Kintamani Volcano & Coffee Plantation Tour

This Is Why A Honeymoon In Bali Is Perfect For Couples

On the fifth day of my Bali solo trip, I took the full-day the Kintamani volcano and coffee plantations tour. Thankfully the weather held up pretty good that day, allowing me to enjoy a full view of the incredible volcano.

After having lunch at Kintamani, we stopped by at a coffee plantation that produced the Indonesian special- Kopi Luwak Coffee.

Kintamani Volcano & coffee plantation full-day tour (including lunch): INR 3200 per person

Handy tips to maximize your travel experience of a solo trip to Bali

coastline in Bali

Although my trip to Bali wasn’t perfect, I had many instances where I chose to differ from the norms and habits of an average traveler . A few mistakes and good choices helped me enjoy a Bali solo travel on a budget to the fullest.

1. Less on hotels, more on experiences

Top Things To Do On A 6 Day Honeymoon Trip To Bali

While I was planning my Bali solo travel, I made sure that I did not spend much on hotels and resorts. As a solo female traveler , I was okay with spending my nights in a decent accommodation (Solaris Hotel, Kuta) that provided me the necessities like clean sheets, comfortable room, and safety.

The advantages of staying at Solaris Hotel were:

  • Comfortable rooms starting from INR 1300 per night
  • Centrally located. Five minute walk from Kuta beach, two-km from the airport, and a ten-minute drive from Kuta main market

2. Be careful while booking your flight tickets

sunset in Bali

I booked my journey via two different Air Asia flight tickets (Hyderabad to KL, and KL to Bali). As a result, I was stopped at the Kuala Lumpur airport because I did not have enough time between my connecting flights (3 hours) to exit immigration, get a transit visa, and board my flight to Bali.

Therefore, I had to rebuy the same ticket from Hyderabad to Bali on a single PNR and pay an additional INR 20,000 for the ticket . Lesson learned, but I wish the Air Asia staff were a bit more understanding, as this issue could have been resolved with their discrepancy.

3. Talk to locals. Understand Bali

restaurants in Bali

The biggest advantage I had while traveling solo was the opportunity to talk to the Balinese people and fellow travelers. Often the best places, restaurants, and cultural insights haven’t been recommended by any online travel giant, but by locals who face the current situation.

On the third day, I was sitting alone at Sanur Beach, Bali when I came across two Balinese girls. I had a fascinating conversation with them in which we talked about religion, career, and Bali in general. From our little chat, I inferred how big a role religion plays for people in Bali.

Honeymoon Trip To Bali: Things To Do For An Unforgettable Experience!

Thanks to TravelTriangle and D’Orgaziers.com , I had the flexibility of customizing my Bali tour package multiple times. It helped me save a lot of additional cost , which I would have had to incur to finish the activities I had planned to do.

I planned water sports on the third day of my trip, but as it started to rain, my tour organizers were helpful enough to replace it with the following day of my trip which was a leisure day.

To summarize, in Bali I found a perfect destination to relax, unwind, and forget all troubles. Albeit assisted by a setback, as I traveled for seven days on a Bali solo trip without a phone . The international sim card I took with me wasn’t working, and I didn’t even bother to ask for a replacement.

In my mind, I felt proud as I broke stereotypes about Bali as a segmented travel destination . Yes, there were a few mistakes that I made, a few times I was dealt a rough hand, but all in all, I pulled through thanks to the ‘enjoying a vacation come what may’ attitude I tried to keep on my Bali solo trip.
