Tamriel Map

The sapling.

Venture to northern Ebonheart and speak to Zasha-Ja about the dying Hist Tree. She will send you on a simple fetch quest to retrive three (3) mudcrab meat (from killing mudcrabs) and four (4) ashreeds (simply picked up).

Ashreeds are found in Clumps of Reeds that are green-yellow with white tops. Mudcrabs are red-salmon in colour. Everything you need can be found outside the house.

Once collected, speak to Zasha-Ja outside and go to fertlize the Hist Tree, located to the north-east. The guards will let you by with her at your side. Fertilize the tree and then return to Zasha-Ja's house. Speak with her to learn about the Dark Elf who tried to poison the tree. Speak with the seemingly mad elf located inside the house.

Learn that Ravil, once again, had an influence in the events that were harming the three faction races. Speak to Zasha-Ja and finish the quest.

Reward: 65 Gold

All companions in The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) and where to find them

The companion system was added to The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) with the Blackwood DLC in 2021. Since the launch, you can now meet and recruit six companions in ESO , all of which were added through DLCs.

Since Blackwood , all chapter expansions have brought two new companions per DLC: High Island in 2022 and Necrom in 2023. More companions are expected to be added to ESO as Bethesda launches new chapter expansions, like Gold Road .

  • How do companions work in ESO?

Sharp-As-Night (Necrom DLC)

Azandar al-cybiades (necrom dlc), ember (high isle dlc), isobel velois (high isle dlc), bastian hallix (blackwood dlc), mirri elendis (blackwood dlc), upcoming eso companions in 2024, how do companions work in eso .

Mirri Elendis companion in ESO

Companions are non-playable characters (NPCs) in ESO that follow you around Tamriel and help you in battles and dungeons. You can only have one companion accompanying you at a time in ESO . You can summon a companion in ESO through the Collections menu and Allies tab . They take advantage of passive skills and have skill lines for the active skills.

The companion system is very similar to the player but much more simplified in that they can:

  • Engage in battle with your character, and you can customize what weapons, skills, mounts, costumes, and outfits they use. Companions will exclusively equip Companion Gear, however. This type of gear doesn’t have levels, can’t be enchanted, and doesn’t need repairs.
  • Level up and become stronger as they accompany you as well. If you are missing a player in a group dungeon, they can also participate as they were a real player.

Each companion has a unique trait that buffs your character, and specific actions your character makes can increase or decrease their rapport, making them like or dislike your character. You can build friendships with each of them to get more quests and to share more personal information. If they dislike you, they’ll become less effective.

Sharp-As-Night is an Argonian Warden. He has horns on the back of his head and his jaw, and red paint around his eyes.

Sharp-As-Night is an Argonian Warden added to ESO with the Necrom DLC. His companion trait is named Sharp’s Patience and causes fish to bite at an increased rate and have a higher chance of being trophy fish.

He won’t like if you destroy items in your inventory, let your gear break, change your outfit at an outfitting station, pickpocket, or pay a bounty to a guard. But you’ll become closer if you complete companion quests, Daily Boss quests from Ordinator Nely, Ashlander daily quests, obtain monster trophies, visit a Hist tree, talk to M’aiq the Liar, eat a meal, craft a poison, find a treasure map chest, a heavy sack, catch a rare fish, go fishing, and more.

To recruit him, you’ll first need to find him near the entrance to Necrom City; before entering, turn left, and you’ll see him battling an assassin and completing “The Double Edge” quest.

Telvanni Peninsula map in ESO.

Azandar al-Cybiades was also added with the Necrom DLC. He is a Redguard Arcanist whose trait benefits players looking for containers.

Azandar’s Inquisitiveness trait allows you to discover research portfolios when searching containers. Research portfolios can contain treasure maps, research notes, crafting recipes, survey reports, and other documents.

You’ll lose rapport if you visit Artaeum or Eyevea, help a beggar, pick a mushroom, brew or drink anything with coffee, play a game of Tales of Tribute, light a campfire, or visit Glimmertarn Wayshrine in Galen.

But he’ll like you if you complete the Paths Unwalked companion quest, Telvanni Peninsula daily quest, Enchanter Writ daily quest, collect items from Psijic portals, visit the Brass Fortress, The Hollow City, Fargrave City District, any Mundus Stone, scry, brew or drink any tea beverage, and more.

You’ll find him near Cipher’s Midden in the center part of Apocrypha. He’ll give you the “The Fateweaver Key” quest to complete so he can join you.

Apocrypha map in ESO.

Ember was part of the High Isle DLC. She is a Khajiit Sorcerer and can help you with pickpocketing aside from spells in battles.

Ember’s Intuition companion trait allows the character to acquire hidden wallets when pickpocketing. These hidden wallets may contain additional gold.

Ember’s rapport will decrease when the player pays a bounty after being caught, gets caught committing a crime, gets spotted while trespassing, enters The Halls of Colossus, and fishing. You’ll get closer with Ember if you complete the Thieves Guild heist, do a relic-retrieving quest, get a purple-quality stolen item, win a game of Tales of Tribute, begin a Black Sacrament, Pickpocket a guard, harvest a runestone, kill a wolf, werewolf, and more.

You can find Ember near Tor Draioch, east of High Isle. You’ll see her struggling, and she’ll ask for your help. Complete the “Tower Full of Trouble” quest for her to join you.

High Isle map in ESO.

Isobel Velois was the second companion added with the High Isle DLC. Also called Bella or Izzy, she is a Breton Templar that can help you with the more difficult battles as the great knight she is.

Her companion perk is called Isobel’s Grace, and she gives the player a chance to recover the pack of a slain knight after defeating a World Boss. The packs may contain additional loot.

Being a Templar, Isobel doesn’t enjoy any activity that deviates from what’s right, which includes murder, entering the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary, stealing from a container, looting a thieves trove, and entering an Outlaw’s Refuge.

You’ll gain rapport with Isobel if you complete Undaunted daily quests, visit an Undaunted Enclave, Talk to an alliance leader, talk to Lyris Titanborn, complete a volcanic vent, craft sweet delicacies or fruit dishes, kill a world boss, delve boss, group dungeon boss, Daedric boss, a Daedra, and more.

Isobel Veloisis can be found near Castle Navire, southwest of High Isle. You’ll see her talking to a woman. She’ll ask for your help involving that woman, and the “Tournament of the Heart” quest will initiate. Complete it to recruit her as your companion.

High Isle map in ESO.

Bastian Hallix was added with the Blackwood DLC. He is an Imperial Dragonknight and has a perk called Bastian’s Insight. It gives a 30-percent chance of finding potions in chests and monsters to be improved.

This Dragonknight doesn’t like stealing, pickpocketing, killing friendly NPCs, using Blade of Woe on any NPCs, fleeing from guards, and, for some reason, crafting provisions with cheese.

On the other hand, he enjoys anything involving the Mages Guild, helping a random encounter, scrying, Crafting Stations, reading a random book, and killing bandits, cultists, and Night Runners.

You’ll find him tied up near Deepscorn Hollow, which is southwest of the starting city of Leyawiin in Blackwood. Once you talk to him, you’ll start the “Competition and Contracts” quest. Once you complete it, you can summon him as your companion.

Blackwood map in ESO.

Mirri Elendis was also added in ESO with the Blackwood DLC. She is a Dark Elf Nightblade with a trait that lets you find additional loot from treasure chests and treasure map chests—the Mirri’s Expertise.

Her rapport will decrease, and she will dislike you if you kill using Blade of Woe, visit the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary, or gather torch bugs and butterflies. It’s a small list compared to the things she likes, however.

She enjoys completing personal quests, Fighter’s Guild daily quests, daily quests for Numani-Rasi, visiting Daedric Public Dungeons and Delves, gathering items from Psijic Portals, crafting an alcoholic beverage, antiquity excavation, reading books from bookshelves, visiting the Brass Fortress, summoning non-combat Daedric pets, and killing goblins, snakes, and serpents.

Blackwood map in ESO.

You’ll find her arguing near Doomvault Vulpinaz, north of Blackwood. Talk to her to initiate the “Shattered and Scattered” quest. Complete it, and she’ll be added to your Companions list.

2024 content roadmap for eso

Usually, new companions are added in the DLCs. However, according to the ESO 2024 Content Roadmap released on Jan. 18, we won’t get any new companions in ESO until Update 44, which will launch in Q4. And we will be getting two new companions.

Unfortunately for players, not much else is known about the upcoming companions. But we will update this article when new information is released.

The Elder Scrolls: 10 Things You Didn't Know About The Hist

In The Elder Scrolls universe, the Hist have a fascinating history. What details should everyone know about these trees?

The Hist of the Argonia (also known as Black Marsh) might seem like regular, old, giant trees to the average person passing by. This could not be further from the truth. The Hist are trees the Argonians revere as almost God-like beings. They are a very important part of Argonian culture and play a huge role in their everyday lives.

RELATED:  The Elder Scrolls Online: 10 Things You Never Knew About Black Marsh

Though they're primarily in Black Marsh, the Hist trees have been part of a few major events in  The Elder Scrolls   series. What things should fans know about these mystical trees?

10 Can Give The Argonians Their Gender

The Hist are connected to the Argonians at the very beginning of their lives. Argonians start their lives off as eggs that are laid under a Hist tree known as hatching pools. When the eggs hatch, their bond with the Hist is formed and the hatchlings drink the sap.

They do this throughout their infancy and the Hist will give them their souls. This determines what gender they will be . However, there are some cases of Argonians being born outside of Black Marsh without assistance from the Hist.

9 Communicate With Argonians In Various Ways

The Hist are said to be able to communicate with visions. This allows the Hist to influence Argonians born in Black Marsh. If an Argonian were to move away from Black Marsh, their connection to the Hist weakens.

Argonians that are born outside of Black Marsh usually don't have any connection to the Hist. Another way that the Hist can communicate is through the wind, a method used by the Bright-Throat Tribe's tree. The tribe creates wind chimes to receive any messages.

8 Their Roots Are Deep Within Nirn

The Hist trees are known to be one of the most ancient species on Mundus, but very few know how far their roots go. It is said by Xukas that the roots of the Hist stretch deep into Nirn and other distant lands.

While the Hist trees on Tamriel are found in Black Marsh, it is possible that more could exist outside of the continent. The sap that drips from these roots is known as Deep Sap.

7 They Can Foresee Future Events

During the Third Era, the Hist called all Argonians across Tamriel to come back to Black Marsh. They foresaw the Oblivion Crisis and ordered the Argonians to defend their homeland. Thanks to this, the Argonians were able to protect Black Marsh and defeat the Daedra that tried to invade it.

Their defense was so solid that the Argonians started going into the Oblivion Gates and slaughtering Daedra. The Daedra lieutenants were forced to close all Oblivion Gates in Black Marsh in order to keep the Argonians from invading any further.

6 A Hist Tree Doomed Its Village By Making A Deal With Molag Bal

Players of  The Elder Scrolls Online have the chance to come across an Argonian-majority village known as Haj Uxith. The Hist tree of this village saw that Argonian civilization was coming to an end. Molag Bal appeared to the village  and promised the Hist tree and its people that he would help them in exchange for a little Hist Sap. The Hist tree accepted the offer and the village was taken to his realm. A crystal known as the Vampiric Shard was put into the Hist tree so it could be harvested for eternity. While this crystal kept the Hist from dying, the tree was severely weakened and poisoned.

RELATED:  ESO: Everything You Need To Know About Blackwood

This divided the village and caused civil unrest. The Scholars group believed the Hist tree should be allowed to die and end its suffering. The Warriors group believed that the Hist should continue to live. Players can decide which group to side with and determine the Hist tree's fate.

5 A Political Faction Takes Orders Only From The Hist

The political faction known as the An-Xileel are known for their Argonian supremacist views. They take their orders directly from the Hist. With their views and mission to make Black Marsh independent from the Empire, this has made some wonder if this is the Hist's true beliefs.

It is known that the Hist are connected to each other by their roots and share a hive mind. While the An-Xileel's influence is relatively small compared to the Empire, they were the leaders of the Argonians during the Oblivion Crisis. They also led the Argonians during the Accession War and took over most of southern Morrowind.

4 Heed Caution When Drinking The Sap

The sap from the Hist allows them to communicate with anyone who consumes it. Drinking the sap from a Hist tree is normal in Argonian lives. It can increase the drinker's combat prowess. However, Hist Sap is known to be dangerous if consumed in high quantities, even for Argonians. Consuming too much can cause a person to see hallucinations. Poor treatment of a Hist tree can also affect the sap as well.

RELATED:  The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion: 10 NPCs With Hidden Agendas

In  The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion , the Blackwood Company smuggled a Hist tree from Black Marsh and placed it in their headquarters in Leyawiin . Knowing that the sap can increase combat prowess, they had their workers drink the sap when they left for missions. Aside from increased strength and seeing hallucinations, the workers were sent into a bloodlust frenzy.

3 Amber Plasm Is Not Hist Sap

Despite its very similar appearance, Amber Plasm is not Hist Sap. Amber Plasm is a form of chaotic creatia from Oblivion and leaks into the world of Mundus through the Hist like blood from a wound. Drinking or bathing in it can cause serious blisters that can result in death and cause hallucinations. The hallucinations are so strong that they can cause Argonians to go mad. Amber Plasm is also used to summons phantoms of the dead known as Amber Projections.

In  The Elder Scrolls Online , a mad Hist tree known as Tsono-Xuhil was corrupted by the Amber Plasm. In turn, Tsono-Xuhil became obsessed with returning Black Marsh to the Argonians and, consequently, corrupted the Xil-Xaht tribe. The leader of the tribe, Na-Kesh, performed alchemical experiments with the Amber Plasm and was able to strengthen herself and other members of her tribe. This was put to a stop by the Undaunted at the request of a Su-Zahleel warrior who needed help saving their tribe's captured elders. The elders were able to put Tsono-Xuhil in a deep slumber and hoped to be able to save it.

2 The Sleeping Tree Might Be A Unique Hist Tree

Fans of  The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim might be familiar with the Sleeping Tree Camp, an area where giants and their mammoths set up camp. The camp is named after a pond with a glowing, leafless tree found in the area. A spigot can be found embedded in the tree, and if activated, the player will get the Sleeping Tree Sap. Ysolda, a merchant in Whiterun, will tell the player that the sap from the tree sells for good coin and is a narcotic.

When asked about the tree, Ysolda tells the player that no one knows where the tree came from. She says that one rumor is that a spore fell from a floating island in the sky. This "floating island in the sky" is an Easter egg to the floating city of Umbriel. The island appeared in  The Elder Scrolls novels,  The Infernal City and  Lord of Souls . Umbriel had Hist trees that are "cousins" to the Hist found in Black Marsh. It is unconfirmed if the Sleeping Tree is from Umbriel, but the rumor does strongly hint at this.

1 A Rogue Hist Tree Caused The Umbriel Crisis

During the events of  The Infernal City and  Lord of Souls , a rogue Hist tree in Lilmoth corrupted the political faction, the An-Xileel. The Hist tree and the An-Xileel summoned the island of Umbriel and ordered for the deaths of all non-Argonians and any Argonians that were assimilated to the culture outside of Black Marsh. This was the beginning of the event known as The Umbriel Crisis .

The floating island of Umbriel was used to massacre Lilmoth, Gideon, and Stormhold. Umbriel also absorbed the souls of the dead to power the island and reanimated the dead bodies to create an undead army. The island continued to float throughout Tamriel and sieged Cheydinhal and marched into Morrowind. It was almost successful in sieging the Imperial City but was banished back to the Realm of the Hist.

HistTree

A Hist tree as it appears in Online .

The Hist are a race of sentient trees that are said to have once been spread over a wide area of Nirn , but are now almost solely confined to Black Marsh . [1] Some claim that they are the most ancient race on Nirn. [1] [2] They are associated with the Argonians , who venerate them, but they are not worshipped in the traditional sense of the term. [3]

Information on the Hist is scarce, as the Argonians do not readily share such information with others, and may even view such sharing as a betrayal of their race. [2] [4]

Biology [ ]

Hist Flowers

Blue Hist Tree

Blue luminescent flowers hanging from a Dead-Water Tribe Hist Tree.

The Hist are a kind of tree in appearance. Some say the Hist are mobile, [5] although this has not been verified beyond rumor. They draw water not only as a source of nourishment, but also a repertoire of memories, although this may be figurative. [6]

The Hist are interconnected with each other, and can communicate with one another through that link. [7] They also communicate with those who ingest Hist Sap in the right manner, [8] and are considered by Argonians to be a part of them, on a level that is potentially biological. [9] Hist roots stretch very far, deep into the heart of Nirn and out into distant lands. [10] Hist trees sometimes sprout large hanging flowers, which emit an either red or blue glow. One tribe located deep within Black Marsh are said to be dedicated to ice magic and have Hist trees that drip with icicles. [11] "Hist-Brothers" are shadowy lurchers encountered during the quest " The Dream of the Hist ," and are the embodiment of various Hist Trees seen throughout Shadowfen . [12]

Hist Sap [ ]

The Hist produce a sap that is used by Argonians in a variety of cultural practices, as well as which stimulating particular growth patterns in the Argonian, which determine its gender. [13] The sap also induces visions for Argonians, who treat these as sacred experiences. [14] It is also prized by other races as an ingredient, [15] [16] and tainted samples can function as a hallucinogen. [17] In sufficient quantities, the sap is poisonous to all races. [14] Hist sap that bleeds from Hist roots buried deep underground is known as "deep sap." [18]

History [ ]

Argonians consider the Hist to be the source of all life. [8] According to the Anuad , they are mentioned as being one of the two forms of life to emerge from the ruin of the Twelve Worlds, the other being the Ehlnofey . [1] It is also claimed that the Hist originated from Oblivion , [19] although it is possible that they merely fled there to escape the decimation of their realm on Nirn. [7] Since Umbriel also came from Oblivion, the trees in Umbriel could be cousins of the Hist. The trees from Clavicus Vile 's realm are vaguer than the Hist, not as intelligent or maybe simpler. But like the Hist, they can form their sap into different things, and they can shape life, change its form. [20]

At some point in history, much of the Hist's realm on Mundus disappeared. Some claim this happened as a result of the Ehlnofey wars, [1] although other sources claim that the Hist were decimated later, when the Dwemer chopped them down for wood. [21] There is an account of the Hist of Haj Uxjith taking its Argonians and fleeing to Oblivion to avoid this fate in the "ancient past," [7] which may refer to the event mentioned in the Anuad .

The Hist brought Argonians back to Black Marsh to defend against the Oblivion Crisis at the end of the Third Era , directing them in attacks that defeated Mehrunes Dagon 's forces, and then on to the subsequent invasion of Morrowind following the Red Year . [19]

A rogue Hist was part of the creation of Umbriel in the early Fourth Era . [19]

Culture [ ]

The Hist do not have a distinct culture of their own that has been disclosed in any great depth. In theory the link they share allows them to operate in unison, suggesting a monolithic mindset. On occasions divergent opinions emerge among the Hist. This results in them being "purged" from the other Hist, as was done by the Hist of Lilmoth in the Third Era . [19]

Relationship to the Argonians [ ]

The Argonians revere the Hist, considering them to be both their prior existence and their afterlife. [21] [22]

The Hist form part of many Argonian cultural rituals, as well as forming a central part of Argonian tribal village life. [15] It is possible that the Hist form the root of their social structure, with each village forming around a single Hist tree. [UL 1] Argonians claim the ability to communicate with the Hist, although precise practices for doing so vary from tribe to tribe of Argonians. [14] This communication takes on the significance of religious guidance for Argonians. [23] [24] The Bright-Throat Tribe believes that their Hist communicate through the wind, and they create chimes in order to receive its messages. [25] [18]

The Hist play a central part in an Argonian's coming-of-age ceremony, whereby they ingest Hist sap, and are formally named. [13] [26] It is also possible that the ingestion of sap also affects the social awareness of Argonians, [27] although this may be a function of Argonian society in general. Some Argonians also believe that the Hist guide their choice of mate. [28] This has been recorded as an annual event by some scholars, [5] although accounts of individual couplings exist. [28]

In extreme circumstances, the Hist have communicated with the entire Argonian race, as well as altering large numbers of them when they ingest Hist sap. [29] This was done during the Oblivion Crisis , where the Hist recalled many Argonians to Black Marsh and invaded the Oblivion Gates , closing them, and co-ordinated the later invasion of Morrowind . [19]

It is possible that the Hist feel the need for Argonians around them and consider them their "children," [6] but this may be a literary device.

In Jel , a language spoken by Argonians, Hist saplings are referred to as "Hist-Deek," mature Hists are called "Hist-Dooka," and elder Hists are called "Hist-Tsoko." The names of the stages of a Hist's development are also used as months within the Argonian calendar. [30]

  • When speaking to Ysolda during the miscellaneous quest " Ysolda's Shipment ," she will note that the tree at Sleeping Tree Camp may be from a seed of the Hist tree. [31] It is unknown if this is the truth, however, as this is only one potential theory for the existence of the Sleeping Tree.
  • Pale-Eyes , an Argonian warrior and member of the Crimson Dirks , claims that in his village there was a story of a Hist tree that had been corrupted by magic and would kidnap and devour hatchlings. [32]

Elder scrolls online: how to unlock the hist whisperer set.

While it may not deal as much damage as other unique sets in ESO, The Hist Whisperer Set is an excellent choice for strong sustain in combat.

One of the best "sustain" gear sets for casual play in  The Elder Scrolls Online  is the Hist Whisperer Set, named after the supernatural connection between the Argonians and the Hist, a mystical species of sentient spore trees in Black Marsh. The Hist Whisperer Set doesn't concentrate on one primary attribute but instead favors all three, boosting the recovery rate and restoration of Health, Stamina, and Magicka. To maximize the  advantage of its mechanical buffs in  ESO , players should equip 5/5 items of the Hist Whisperer Set.

With two pieces of the Hist Whisperer Set equipped,  Elder Scrolls  fans will receive an increase in Health Recovery. With three items, this recovery bonus will likewise apply to Stamina. Additionally, if a player wears four pieces of Hist Whisperer equipment, they will gain an additional passive buff for recovering Magicka. Finally, by equipping the Hist Whisperer's full armor set,  ESO  players will be able to restore a significant amount of Health, Stamina, and Magicka simply by performing Light and Medium Attacks in combat. Additionally, successfully landing a fully-charged Heavy Attack will effectively double the Magicka, Stamina, and  Health restored in  The Elder Scrolls Online .

Related:  The Best New Gear Sets in Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood

The primary way to obtain the Hist Whisperer Set in  The Elder Scrolls Online  is through crafting, meaning that there are particular requirements to be met before the set can be made. First, players must travel to the Hist Whisperer's unique crafting station in Blackwood, near the borderline of Cyrodiil and Black Marsh. The workbench is located southeast of Blackwood at Withered Root, which can be found east of Stonewastes and north of the Rockgrove Trial.

Where to Get the Hist Whisperer Set in ESO

The next requirement for the armor set is that the crafter must complete research on three traits for the Hist Whisperer Set to make one of its  armor pieces in  The Elder Scrolls Online . Once the player travels to Withered Root's workstation, possesses three crafting traits, and has the necessary materials, they will be able to unlock the Hist Whisperer Set in  ESO .

Players can also attune housing furnishings near the Hist Whisperer crafting station. The first step is to purchase Attunable Blacksmithing Stations or Attunable Clothier Stations from certain NPCs using Writ Vouchers. After buying the Attunable crafting stations, travel to Withered Root using the Vunalk Wayshrine nearby. Go next to the Hist Whisperer workbench, open the Inventory screen, and select Slottable Items. After attuning all of the items, players will now be able to place Hist Whisperer crafting stations in their  homes in  The Elder Scrolls Online .

Ancient Trees []. Argonians claim that the Hist trees of Black Marsh were the original life forms on Tamriel. The Hist were considered bystanders of the war between the Ehlnofey, but most of their realm was destroyed as the war passed over it. Given the time gap it could literally be anything. We know Lilmoth's borders shift, moving with the tides and everything so it could have moved elsewhere by the fourth era.
