Cruises to the Adriatic Sea

Make your way along island-specked coastlines on one of our Adriatic cruises and marvel at pine-fringed beaches, medieval castles, and terracotta-roofed towns. Experience vibrant, cosmopolitan communities, enchanting seaside villages, and a blend of fascinating cultures.

On cruises to the Adriatic Sea, you’ll enjoy this lovely mélange in the area’s varied cuisine, architecture, and history. Spend balmy summer days on one of the pristine beaches along the Adriatic coastline, or go hiking and wine tasting in the countryside. Uncover the historic sites of the region and wander through captivating city centers. From Italy to Croatia and Montenegro, this region of Europe has a wealth of cultural gems waiting to be discovered.

Adriatic Cruise Highlights

Forts and castles.

Immerse yourself in the history of the Adriatic by visiting its castles, forts, cathedrals, and palaces. In Dubrovnik, stroll along the chunky ramparts that have encircled the city for centuries.   In Split, wander through Diocletian’s Palace, still a living community, where the Roman emperor once escaped for rest and refuge. In the handsome city of Trieste, visit the Cathedral of San Giusto Martire, from where you’ll enjoy a breathtaking view of the Adriatic Sea.

Sparkling Coasts

Discover the Adriatic’s breathtaking coastlines, where sparkling blue water, bleached white islands, and bottle-green pine forests await. From Dubrovnik, hop on the ferry to the wooded island of Lokrum, where you can swim off the rocks in crystal-clear water. In the Bay of Kotor, a deep fjord hemmed in by mountains, swim from small pebble beaches and kayak against a backdrop of tiny islands and coastal villages.

Culinary Delights

Treat your taste buds to new flavors during your cruise around the Adriatic. Taste crisp white Graševina wines, perfect with salty cheese and smoked ham. Try the famous black squid ink risotto and feast on plump peaches and sweet cherries, all grown locally. Enjoy fresh oysters from Ston, near Dubrovnik, and the wide variety of pasta dishes that reflect the proximity of Italy. Learn to drink coffee like a local, sitting in a café for hours while chatting with friends.

Featured Ports

Split, croatia.

The elegant old city of Split has a long history. At its heart is the magnificent Diocletian’s Palace—more a bustling self-contained community than a typical palace—built for the Roman emperor in 4 AD. Wander through the winding alleys and explore the vaulted substructures where musical performances are held. Join a wine tasting, and sample local smoked hams and cheese. Take a trip to Krka National Park, where waterfalls tumble over natural travertine platforms into blue-green pools.

Kotor, Montenegro

Nestled between the Bay of Kotor and the mountains of Mt. Lovcen, Kotor is a lovely old harbor town with a mountainous backdrop and a beautifully preserved medieval center. Explore the Old Town, where al-fresco cafés line sunlit squares. Step into the quirky Cats Museum, which is full of all things feline. Climb the ramparts that snake over the hills behind the city for awe-inspiring views over the rooftops and the long Bay of Kotor.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Between Italy and Montenegro, you’ll find the spectacular city of Dubrovnik, a heavenly coastal city in Croatia that has risen to the top of many travelers’ bucket lists. Walk around the historic old city walls, where you’ll see unparalleled views of Dubrovnik’s terracotta-roofed buildings and shimmering Adriatic beyond. Explore the area’s forts and monasteries, and take the aerial tram up craggy Mount Srd for the best view of the tangled streets of the old town.

Adriatic Cruise Itineraries

On a cruise to the Adriatic Sea with Celebrity Cruises, choose from seven to 11-night itineraries that depart from Barcelona, Rome, Athens, and Ravenna (Venice). Cruise between April and November and visit ports of call such as Dubrovnik, Trieste, Kotor, and Split.

Adriatic Sea Cruises

An Adriatic Sea cruise offers gorgeous turquoise waters and an intriguing, rugged coastline, dotted with charming terracotta towns, pastel-green olive groves and historic ports that make for a perfect day’s exploring. Stretching down from the romantic canals of Venice , the Italian influence continues along the picturesque Dalmatian coastline of Croatia, via the Roman old-town of Split and the cultural hotspot of Dubrovnik. Spectacular cathedrals, churches and bell towers reveal the Baroque, Renaissance and Venetian history that is present throughout this area; quite distinct from the Slavic influence present across the rest of Croatia, providing a haven for those looking to immerse themselves in a rich culture with fascinating history.

The scenic natural beauty of the Adriatic coast does not disappoint. Having hundreds of offshore islands , each with its own unique character from modern chic to traditional and secluded, if you are seeking endless, idyllic beaches, a cruise around the Adriatic Sea is the perfect place for a getaway.

Despite developing a prominent reputation within the last few decades as a popular tourist destination, the Dalmatian coast retains a quiet, dignified character, avoiding the mass over developments and instead providing its visitors with an elegant, cultured destination to explore.

About Adriatic Sea Cruises

An Adriatic Sea cruise will maximise your time along this beautiful coastline, enabling you to discover many of the gems that this enchanting area has to offer.

Although there are many historical links between Dalmatia and our equally named, spotted best friend, it is still under question as to where the Dalmatian dog came from. Some reports suggest they were first found in ancient Egypt, whilst others suggest they originated in India.

Top Adriatic Sea Harbours

Start your Adriatic Sea cruise from Venice and you will fall in love from the start. A unique city, where infamous, picture-postcard vistas do not disappoint when viewed first-hand. Venice is a city of grandeur, with the Byzantine domes of Saint Mark’s Basilica and the Venetian, Gothic-style Doge’s Palace , but equally it holds curiosity with its narrow winding canals, lined with tall, colourful buildings, built upon their wooden platforms to create this ‘floating city’.

Step aboard one of the many gondolas, which alongside the boats, act as both a tourist attraction and a genuine method of transport, and see the city from its very best viewpoint. --> Venice cruises

Interesting fact on Venice

Venice is actually made up of 117 mini islands that sit upon the Venetian Lagoon. Some of these islands are man-made. Sacca Fisola, for example, was created in the 1960’s.

The splendour of the medieval, walled Old Town of Dubrovnik draws many of Croatia’s tourists here to visit and the reason for its popularity is clear from the very first glimpse. The uniform colours of the warm, russet-red roofs and ivory buildings stand in brilliant contrast against the blue of the Adriatic Sea. Named as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1979, there are many cultural sights to explore. Take a walk along the ancient walls surrounding the Old Town to fully appreciate its beauty, before resting for a drink at a bar along its narrow, cobblestoned streets. With a variety of restaurants, small shops and points of interest located within a compact area, it is the ideal place for an easy afternoon’s wander. --> Dubrovnik cruises

Fun fact on Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik is the filming location for ‘King’s Landing’ in the award-winning Game of Thrones. With so many of its scenes filmed here, fans can walk in the footsteps of some of their favourite characters.

The ancient centre of Split offers a walk through history like no other. The Roman old town is centred around the 1,700-year-old Diocletian Palace and its imposing fortress-like structures, which were built for the Roman Emperor Diocletian at the turn of the fourth century AD, have since been UNESCO-listed. Take a climb up the bell tower to gain fantastic views of this ancient architecture.

As Croatia’s second largest town , Split is an up and coming tourist destination. Previously being only used as a stopover location to visit its nearby islands, it is now rightfully being recognised for the many treasures it has to offer.

If the nearby islands do beckon, Korčula, Hvar and Brac are just a short ferry ride away. Mountains, forests, beaches and coves provide the ideal opportunity for a day’s outdoor adventure on Brač, whilst Hvar emits a chic, cosmopolitan vibe for those searching for a fashionable place to unwind and enjoy the Mediterranean sun. --> Split cruises

A curious fact about Split

Split has many churches, but one of its most curious is its miniature Saint Martin. This church stands at only 1.6 metres wide and 10 metres long and was the first Christian church to be built within the Diocletian Palace

Best time for Adriatic Sea cruises

Summers along the Dalmatian Coast are nothing short of glorious. Temperatures average 28 °C in July and August and the waters are equally warm. However, this is the high season, so expect busier resorts and peak prices. For a more relaxed, quieter holiday, when day time temperatures are still warm (particularly in the autumn) then May-June or September-early October may suit you better. Spring is also a lovely time of year, as all the flowers are blooming and festivities take place over the Easter period.

Top tip for timing your visit

If you are looking at an Adriatic cruise in the autumn, it is worth checking opening times in advance. Many restaurants and bars close for the end of the season, particularly on the islands.

Top Adriatic Sea sights

An Adriatic cruise offers culture, history and natural beauty across its destinations. In fact, wherever you travel, there will be something for everyone to enjoy. These are our top three favourites places to visit:

Island of Korčula

One of the greenest islands on the Adriatic, Korčula has a wealth of small, beautiful beaches with stunning views. Korčula Town is a walled medieval city, rich in art and culture and also well-worth a visit. With day trips on offer from Dubrovnik, this island is very accessible for those looking to explore.

The city of Zadar has some unique and unusual attractions. On its coastline, you will find the Sea Organ; an audio installation made up of several marble steps leading down into the sea, which, with the combination of the waves and the wind, create beautiful sounds through its openings. Linger here until evening and you can enjoy the most colourful sunset via the Sun Salutation; a creative use of LEDs and solar panels that come alive at night for a magical illumination.

Plitvice Lakes National Park

If you have time to venture inland, Plitvice National Park is a true natural wonder; sixteen dazzling lakes, interconnected with a series of breath-taking waterfalls, all surrounded by deep woodlands that are home to deer, bears and rare bird species.

Top tip on visiting a national park

If you would love to visit a national park, but Plitvice Lakes is just not within reach, do not despair! Croatia has eight national parks, including some of its beautiful islands. If you are searching for waterfalls, Krka Waterfalls may be more accessible and delivers equally stunning views.

Regional dishes

This traditional Dalmatian dish is a beef stew with roasted bacon, prunes, red wine, parsley and nutmeg and normally comes served with homemade potato gnocchi.

Black Risotto

Risotto may be thought of as Italian, but here you can see the Italian influence on dishes further round the region, as Black Risotto, made from squid ink, is local to Croatia. Served simply with freshly caught cuttlefish and aromatic olive oil, this dish has become world renowned.

Continuing with the seafood theme, as its freshness in this region delivers the tastiest dishes, Brudet is a simple seafood stew enriched with quality wine. Often a secret family recipe, this delicious dish is definitely worth seeking out.

Local foodie fact

Croatians produce very good wine, although production is small-scale, so not much of it is sold outside the country. Take this rare opportunity to sample it.

To add to your pub quiz knowledge

Take a look at an image of Venice from above. It is actually formed in the shape of a fish.

This is very apt considering the whole city is staying afloat on the water, using wooden stilts supported by mud and bricks.

Surface water temperatures of the Adriatic Sea can get up to 30°C in the summer. This significantly moderates the Adriatic Basin’s climate. This unique nature of the Adriatic Sea creates the perfect home for over 7,000 animal and plant species.

In Split’s Diocletian Palace, there is a genuine Egyptian sphinx that was brought from Egypt by Emperor Diocletian to adorn the entrance to his tomb.

Top Travelling Tip for the Adriatic Sea

Croatians, much like the Italians, love fresh produce. Whilst visiting, take time to explore an open-air market to really absorb the local atmosphere.

Breathtaking views

The adriatic, clear skies – clear waters, a million shades of blue..

The Adriatic coast is full of rich history and serene beauty, which has helped rank it as one of the trendiest yachting destinations. Magnificent white limestone cliffs give way to the Adriatic Sea’s azure waters. From Slovenia in the north, along the Croatian and Italian shores, down to the tiny jewels of Montenegro , Macedonia , and Albania , until Greece at the southern tip, the Adriatic has it all. A luxury yacht charter provides you with a first-row seat to Venetian steeples, Roman ruins, Greek fortresses, blue grottos, melt-in-your-mouth seafood, and aromatic wines.

Situated mainly between Italy and Croatia, the Adriatic Sea is the third-longest coast in the Mediterranean , right after Greece and Italy. The shimmering waters are a key feature of the picturesque shoreline, which is characterized by unparalleled clarity and intoxicating shades of blue. There are few seas as beautifully blue as the Adriatic, boasting shades from deep royal blue to glistening turquoise and everything in between.

You will be truly spoiled swimming in the Adriatic waters because the sea is so clear that, most of the time, you can see the seafloor right below you. Indulge in the sublimity of the Adriatic Sea and all of the beauty that the coast has to offer with your dream luxury yacht charter!

Ten of the best small-ship cruises

Not a fan of mega-ships our cruise expert has picked the best boutique sailings to keep things exclusive and adventurous.

Nassau, Bahamas

T here’s something special about small-ship cruising. You’ll feel a deeper connection to the sea, and there’s a certain pleasure from being docked in chic little ports among the superyachts or anchored in a remote bay far from the crowds. Of course, there won’t be Broadway shows and a choice of restaurants, but simplicity is all part of the appeal. Here are ten of the best small-ship cruises for this year and next.

This article contains affiliate links, which can earn us revenue

1. Authentic Caribbean

Le Ponant sailing yacht

Explore some of the tiniest islands in the Caribbean on Ponant’s smallest ship: the swish, recently refurbished sailing yacht Le Ponant, which carries just 32 passengers. Sail from Marigot on St Martin to Prickly Pear Cays on Anguilla, St Barts, Nevis, Falmouth Bay on Antigua, Barbuda and the chic Îles des Saintes in Guadeloupe — in other words some of the most seductive islands in the region. On board you can expect the fine dining and service that comes from the ship’s partnership with Relais & Châteaux. Details Seven nights’ all-inclusive from £5,550pp, including excursions, departing on March 8, 2025 (uk.ponant.com). Fly to St Maarten and back from Guadeloupe

2. Croatia under sail

Kairos

Explore Croatia in detail on the classic schooner Kairos, which sails out of medieval Trogir to Vis, Hvar and Korcula, as well as lesser-known islands and anchorages, depending on wind speed and direction. With just 16 passengers and seven crew on board, this is small-ship luxury at its best — and you don’t have to help to sail the boat unless you want to do so. When you’re at anchor, jump straight into the warm Adriatic. Evenings are spent either in lively towns or anchored in remote bays. Details Seven nights’ full board from £3,025pp, departing on August 10 (venturesailholidays.com). Fly to Split

3. Butlers in the Bahamas

The Bahamas

This 12-night cruise zigzags from New York to Bermuda for an overnight stay, through the Bahamian islands of San Salvador, Exuma and Honeymoon Harbour on tiny Gun Cay, then on to Miami before ending back in Nassau. Expect luxury all the way, with a butler service, an open bar and helicopter trips, plus a submarine and water toys to play on when the ship’s marina platform is down, which is often. Scenic Eclipse carries just 228 passengers, with the vibe of a swish private yacht in its glossy lounges and smart, high-ceilinged cabins. Details Twelve nights’ all-inclusive from £6,914pp, including flights, private transfers, tips, wi-fi and excursions, departing on October 12 (scenic.co.uk)

4. turkey as you please.

Salamander

Muster a group of 12 and you can charter a gulet for a blissful week exploring the Turquoise Coast of Turkey. Sailing from Bodrum, you’ll travel on the gleaming wooden Salamander, which comes with a crew of four, including a chef. Visit pretty fishing villages and drop anchor in pine-scented bays surrounded by green mountains for swimming off the boat, as well as playing on the water toys. On board are six en suite cabins and plenty of lounging space on deck, where you’ll also have meals. Details Seven nights’ full board (excluding two dinners) from £22,870 for 12, including transfers and house wine, departing on June 24 (salamandervoyages.com). Fly to Bodrum

5. New year in the Seychelles

Praslin

Spend more than a week over the new year pottering around the dreamy Seychelles on Emerald Cruises’ sleek, 100-passenger Azzurra, visiting Praslin; rugged Curieuse, home to Aldabra giant tortoises; La Digue, location of the much-photographed Anse Source d’Argent beach; and Aride Island Nature Reserve, a breeding site for seabirds. You can snorkel and paddleboard off the back of the ship, which has a distinct superyacht feel thanks to an infinity pool and lovely alfresco dining area. Details Seven nights’ all-inclusive from £5,445pp, including flights, tips, wi-fi and some activities, departing on December 29 ( emeraldcruises.co.uk )

• Ten river cruises for adventurous travellers

6. Amazon adventure

A jaguar in the Amazon rainforest

Trace the northeast coastline of South America on a 19-night expedition on Swan Hellenic’s smart SH Vega, which carries 158 passengers. You’ll start in Barbados and head to Trinidad, but this is no ordinary Caribbean cruise — the next stop is Georgetown in Guyana, then it’s the volcanic Salvation Islands, a former penal colony off the coast of French Guiana now returned to nature. From the Brazilian town of Iquiqui you’ll head into the Amazon rainforest in search of jaguars and pink river dolphins. While in Brazil there’s also a chance to see the rippling white sand dunes ofLençois Maranhenses National Park and the Unesco world heritage town of Olinda before arriving in colourful Bahia. Details Nineteen nights’ all-inclusive from £6,980pp including wi-fi, taxes, excursions and a night in Barbados, departing on October 12, 2025 (swanhellenic.com). Fly to Barbados

7. Maritime history on east-coast US

Sag Harbor

Sail from Boston to New York City on American Cruise Lines’ 90-passenger American Independence, built for the shallow inlets and rivers of the US east coast. You’ll learn about the history of Boston and call at arty, boho coastal towns packed with maritime history. Plymouth was the first pilgrim settlement, while yachtie Newport is known for its opulent seaside estates and lobster. Old Saybrook, settled in 1635, is one of oldest towns in Connecticut, while Sag Harbor is famed for its art galleries and endless beaches. Details Seven nights’ all-inclusive from £5,999pp, including flights, excursions and a night in a hotel pre-cruise, departing on September 29 (fredholidays.co.uk)

8. Tall ship Atlantic crossing

Star Flyer

Crossing the Atlantic under sail is special; you’ll have days to commune with the ocean, leaving the stresses of everyday life behind. Join the 170-passenger tall ship Star Flyer in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria — the city from which Columbus set sail in 1492. There’s a stop at the Canary island of La Gomera, then 13 days at sea as you head west to the Tropics, making landfall at St Maarten. On board you can help the crew with the sails, splash around in the pool, have a Thai massage and — on this sailing, which has a yoga theme — practise your sun salutations. Details Fifteen nights’ full board from £2,015pp, departing on November 15 (starclippers.co.uk). Fly to Gran Canaria and back from St Maarten

9. Tempting Tahiti

Moorea

Discover Tahiti in all its high-definition beauty on the small ship Star Breeze, which carries 312 and is based in Papeete. You’ll visit dreamy islands including Bora Bora, Huahine, Moorea and Raiatea on a seven-night meander through French Polynesia, with swimming in turquoise lagoons, rainforest hikes and visits to vanilla plantations and ancient sacred sites on the agenda. One night there’s a special dinner on a private island, followed by a fire-dancing display under the stars. Details Seven nights’ all-inclusive from £6,200pp, including flights and a night in a hotel pre-cruise, departing on October 17 (windstarcruises.com; book by June 30)

10. Wellness in the Cyclades

Milos

Potter round the lesser-visited Greek islands of the Cyclades on the 50-passenger Elysium, a tiny ship that can anchor in smaller harbours, away from the mainstream cruise ships. There’s an emphasis on healthy Greek food for meals onboard, and you can choose the most inviting taverna in town for either lunch or dinner each day. A wellness coach travels on every cruise to help balance mind and body, with yoga, meditation and hiking on offer. On a seven-night Divine Cyclades cruise you’ll sail from Athens and visit islands including Delos, Naxos, Milos, Serifos and Kythnos, as well as big-hitters such as Santorini and Ios. Details Seven nights’ half-board from £2,530pp, departing on September 7 (elixir.cruises). Fly to Athens

Violent video shows some of the wild Brooklyn party boat brawl that left two people stabbed and another bashed in the head with a bottle — including images of bystanders carrying a badly beeding man.

Several men and women can be seen pushing and shoving each other on the pier right next to the massive yacht.

At one point, a man is forced to the ground and another man can be seen stomping on his face, appearing to knock him out, video shows. A security guard tries to pull his limp body away from the mayhem.

A man with a ripped t-shirt and a woman were also wrestled to the pavement.

Another video shows the chaos after the stabbing. One of the victim’s lay on the ground as people screamed all around.

“Somebody pick him up!” one bystander yells.

“He got stabbed!”

Moments later, the bleeding victim is picked up and passed over the fence by a group of men who carry him towards an ambulance.

One of the men opens the ambulance door, but they then decide to carry him towards a car and put the victim in the backseat, video shows.

The mayhem occurred just after 5 p.m. at Pier 4 at the Brooklyn Army Terminal near 58th Street in Sunset Park onboard the yacht, Cornucopia Majesty.

When police arrived at the scene, they found a 32-year-old male who had been stabbed in the torso and 40-year-old man with multiple stab wounds to the chest and abdomen.

Amazing Moscow river cruise

Radisson is the most luxurious and amazing boat cruise in Moscow. We did the 2.5 hr boat cruise today at 7 PM. Being sunset and dinner time, the tour was sold out. But given my advance reservation, I got entry. I had the PDF print of the page I got when booking on Radisson cruise website but was initially rejected entry on the boat. Given the company's security guy checking tickets didn't speak much English, we got a bit disappointed that we will not be able to get in. But then we went to the ticket counter and got the real ticket with the bar code. Even the ticket counter guys were a bit clueless as if they had never seen an online ticket before. Very strange for a company of their repute. Nonetheless we had an amazing time later on the cruise. Great sunset views of the city. The upper deck is amazing and we got a nice windy seat by the end granting us unparalleled views. The food and drinks menu is also amazing and not extremely costly. Service was good too. Plus Radisson guys don't allow a lot of people on the boat, so it didn't feel crowded at any time. Must do cruise especially the 7 PM one. Do book tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.

Hello, dear SerendipityIndia! Thank you for sharing your impressions about the last walk and a detailed review! We are very pleased that you got a new, incomparable experience. Concerning your problems with the online ticket, it is really needed to have a special, unique bar code to come aboard. Our team is glad that everything turned out okay and you had a nice time. Come to our thematic cruises and food festivals, you will discover still a lot. We will be glad to see you again on the board of our yachts! Best regards, the administration of Flotilla “Radisson Royal”.

We took the "Mercedes Benz" branded cruise with the Radisson Moscow river dinner cruises. (Big boats, not the little boats). We were not quite sure in terms of what to expect, but the trip was wonderful and we are very very glad we went. The boat itself was very clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. One minor quibble is that they should be more fastidious with cleaning the glass on the ship's "greenhouse" prior to starting the cruises. This would help make the views even better. The food was quite good (the German food dishes, some of which were not available even though they were on the menu, were ok, the Russian ones not surprisingly seemed a little better done) The service was good as well. Our server on the boat was a delightful young woman who did speak a little bit of English, but this cruise appears to be very much what the locals do for a good time. A few anniversaries and third dates were in progress all around us, by all appearances. We had a little bit of trouble identifying the right boat on the docks as they are tied up in parallel and in series, and since we speak very little Russian, and on the docks the dock staff didn't appear to speak any English, we had to make our best guesses. We did ok showing our tickets to the employees, pointing, and proceeding. Give yourself plenty of time to figure this out. Also, the best tables seem to be taken by order of who shows up first, though I could be wrong. We went during the May Day/Victory day week, so the city was very festive and dressed up. The views were simply amazing. One very memorable and unexpected treat was that Gorky Park lit up the park's trees with brilliant, multi-colored lights that shifted colors over time. What a beautiful sight! For this reason, we would recommend leaving while it is still daylight so you can see the city sights, but time the cruise so that your return voyage is at dusk and after dark to see Moscow lighted up and beautiful. Thanks to Radisson for such an enjoyable experience. Given the good food and unrivaled views, we would definitely do this again!

We absolutely loved this 2.5 hour luncheon cruise. Very clean and modern craft. The staff and crew were all genuinely friendly and attentive. We were dressed in typical cold weather tourist attire, but many of the others were dressed quite well. The meal was equally delicious. The views as you cruise down the Moscow river were amazing. Certainly worthwhile adding this to your itinerary while visiting Moscow as you get to see a different view of the sites of Moscow in comfort.

Hello, dear Randall K! Thank you for the feedback about your cruise on the yacht "Radisson Royal". If you want to have an unforgettable expirience and marvelous city tour, these water trams are must-have! Best regards, the administration of Flotilla “Radisson Royal”

Definitely recommended! The route that the boat follows is very picturesque. You get to see the all major attrations of the city just from the window while enjoying delicious meal. The atmosphere onboard is very romantic, nothing distracts you, you can just sit and relax contemplating the view of this great ancient city. Great for couple, families and just friends coming together, both for celebration and romatic dinner. The service is great, the food is delicious, the menu offers great choice of meals and drinks. The trip takes 2 hours which is enough to order your meal and fully enjoy it without being rushed. Absolutely recommended!

Came here for a romantic evening with my wife. The booking was smooth as was the ride; but everything else is, well, brusque. It appears that the entire service team needs express training on “customer service”. Are they bouncers brought in as waiters? Am typing this review even as I am in the boat! I hope somebody at Flotilla Radisson takes note. On the positive front: the food was good.

  • and other famous sights.

You will learn about the different epochs of the city from the foundation in 1147 till Soviet times of 20 th  century.

Moscow River

Moskva river has the form of a snake and is the main waterway of Moscow, consisting of a cascade of reservoirs. Within the city, Moskva river is 80 km long, 120 m - 200 m wide and up to 14 m deep. The narrowest part of the river is the Kremlin area in the city center, and the most extensive is around the Luzhniki Stadium in the south.

Bridges in Moscow

Undoubtedly, bridges and embankments are among the most scenic spots and main attractions of Moscow. Plus, they are so romantic.

  • Bolshoy Kamenny Bridge –  Great Stone Bridge –  is the main bridge of Moscow . The first stone bridge was constructed here in the 17th century.
  • Patriarshy Bridge  is one of the youngest pedestrian bridges, built in 2004. The bridge connects the iconic Christ the Saviour Cathedral with funky Bersenevskaya embankment, extremely popular place among locals for its trendy art galleries, cafes and panoramic views. Patriarshy Bridge used to be a shooting location for ex-Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's New Year speech to the nation.
  • Borodinsky Bridge,  erected in honor of the 100th anniversary of the glorious victory in the Battle of Borodino (which every Russian kid knows about), a fierce legendary battle during the Russo-French war of 1812.
  • Bagration Bridge  one of the  pedestrian bridges with most picturesque views of the Moskva River with its numerous upper-level observation platforms. The bridge was erected to celebrate the 850th anniversary of Moscow city in 1997.
  • Krymsky Bridge  used to be in Top 5 Europe’s longest bridges some 100 years ago. The bridge got its name after the ancient Krymsky ford which Crimean Tartars used to invade Moscow in the 16 th  century.

Embankments of Moscow

Moscow river boats 37 embankments, the most popular being Kremlevskaya, Sofiyskaya, Pushkinskaya, Vorobyovskaya and Kolomenskaya.

You can get the most spectacular views of the Kremlin from  Kremlevskaya and Sofiyskaya embankments.

  • Pushkinkaya embankment  is the most romantic in Moscow. It meanders along Gorky Park and Neskuchnyi garden and is rich for all kinds of entertainment as well as cozy nooks, including Olivkovy beach, the famous Zeleny theater as well as a pier for river cruisers.
  • Vorobyevskaya embankment  is part of Sparrow Hills nature reserve. This place opens a beautiful panorama of the river and city from the observation deck and is considered to be the place for taking serious decisions in life.
  • Embankment in Kolomenskoye  Museum-Reserve has a special charm due to its peculiar geographical relief. The boat trip around Kolomenskoye would be the most peaceful in your life.
  • Taras Shevchenko embankment  is popular among photographers for its modern Moscow City skyscrapers. Highly recommended for your night boat trip.
  • Embankments of Moscow are the pride of the capital. A distinctive feature of each of the promenades is its architecture and beautiful views. In addition, almost all the embankments of Moscow have a rich history and a lot of notable buildings.

Different epochs

Taking a walk along the Moskva River by boat, you will witness the architecture of Moscow from different eras and styles. Archaeological studies indicate that already in the XI century there stood a fortified settlement on Borovitsky hill, which is now called the Kremlin. Little fortress could not accommodate all the residents of the rapidly growing city, and the Grand Duke ordered the construction of a new Kremlin, larger than the former.

Boat trip around Kolomenskoe Park

Moscow river boat trip starts from the pier Klenovy (Maple) Boulevard and provides reat views of Nicholas Perervinsky monastery.

Nicholas Perervinsky monastery was founded at the time of the Battle of Kulikov (1380). The monastery, got its name from the surrounding area – “Pererva”, which can be translated like “tear off” and because of the location –  here it abruptly changed its course, turning to Kolomna, standing on the opposite bank.

Nowadays Kolomenskoye is State Art, Historical, Architectural and Natural Landscape Museum-Reserve, which doors are open to everyone who wants to get in touch with the ancient history of Russia.

Take a break from the big city hustle in the shady parks and gardens of the Kolomenskoe Museum-Reserve. Don’t miss a wonderful Church of the Ascension and Tsar Alexey’s Palace in Kolomenskoye!

Monasteries and temples

  • Novospassky Monastery
  • Founded in the 13th century on the site where now is located the Danilovsky monastery. After a few decades, in 1330, Ivan Kalita moved the monastery onto the Borovitskii hill of the Kremlin. However, in the 15th century, Spassky Monastery again moved, this time to a more spacious place on Krasnoholmskaya waterfront.
  • Church of St. Nicholas in Zayaitskom
  • Erected in the middle of the XVIII century in baroque style. The building survived after the 1812 fire, but the utensils were destoyed. Parishioners collected donations and restored the temple on their own. In Soviet times, it was closed and re-opened only in 1992.
  • Cathedral of Christ the Savior
  • The church was originally erected in honor of the victory over Napoleon and was being under construction for long 44 years. Notoriously demolished in 1937 to be a giant swimming pool under open sky. The current building was constructed in 1990s. It is the tallest and one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world.
  • The temple was built in 1679-82, during the reign of Tsar Fedor Alekseevich, in late Muscovite Baroque style and can be characterized as bonfire temple. Each gable is a symbol of a heavenly fire.
  • Novodevichy Convent
  • The most famous concent and monastery in Moscow, presumably founded in 1524. Novodevichy’s status has always been high among other monasteries, it was in this monastery where the women of the royal blood, the wives of Tsars and local rulers of Moscow were kept in prison as nuns.
  • St. Andrew’s church  (male acts as Compound Patriarch of Moscow)
  • St. Andrew’s church stands right on the slopes of the Sparrow Hills, on the way down to the Moskva River, on the territory of the Nature Reserve “Sparrow Hills”. The monastery is small in size but is very cozy. It’s situated in a quiet courtyard surrounded by temples, fruit trees and flowers.

The first pavilion of Crocus Expo IEC hosted an extraordinary exposition of the 5th International exhibition of yachts and boats Moscow Boat Show. The show had been incredibly famous for five years already not only thanks to the specialists of the market segment as well as professional sportsmen but also thanks to those who consider sailing sport to be their hobby and well cherished dream.

Moscow Boat Show 2012

Moscow Boat Show 2012

The organizer of the project was the Crocus Expo International Exhibition Centre. The show was supported by Aston Martin Moscow, Burevestnik Group logistics department and the Yachting specialized magazine.

The exposition space increased up to 30 000 sq m and was accommodated in all 4 exhibition halls of the fairgrounds! 280 Russian (Arkhangelsk, Vyborg, Kazan, Kaluga, Republic of Karelia, Moscow and Moscow region, Nizhny Novgorod, Novorossiysk, Novosibirsk, Rostov-on-Don, Samara, St. Petersburg, Sverdlovsk region, Sochi, Chelyabinsk, Tyumen and Yaroslavl region) and foreign ( Denmark , Germany , Holland , Greece , Spain , Italy , Cyprus , China , Latvia , Poland , USA , Turkey , Ukraine, Finland , France , Montenegro and Croatia ) companies participate in the show.

Moscow Boat Show provided the perfect platform from which to preview new products, evaluate market trends, and establish long-lasting and commercially profitable partnerships. Despite the dynamic changes taking place in Russia and the rapid growth of the yachting sector, the show continued to complement and reflect the industry’s demand and is a promotional opportunity not to be missed!

Unique exhibits were presented at the show for the first time: exposition of private submarines from U-Boat Russia company, Marquis Yachts 420 SB motor yacht from Sport Bridge S. Marine series, SAGA-415 yacht from Saga Boats Norwegian shipyard, Jetlev-Flyer from MS Watersports.

Moscow Boat Show a Great Success

More than 400 yachts were displayed within the frames of the event including the largest boats ever exhibited in Russia – the 19-meter giant motor yacht Princess 54 as well as the Princess 50 yacht from Nord Marine and Baja speed boat from Burevestnik.

Domfinland OY unveiled a luxury project from Finnish real estate: a seaside premium class hotel in Hanko named consonant with the location Merihanko.

The trade fair was traditionally opened by a Gala Opening Ceremony. Arcady Zlotnikov, First Deputy Director Crocus Expo IEC, was the first to take the floor at the official opening ceremony. He greeted warmly exhibitors, guests and visitors of Moscow Boat Show. Nikolay Krjuchek, Deputy Chief of the State Inspection on Small size Vessels (GIMS) of the Ministry for Emergency Situations of Russia, Georguiy Shaiduko, Acting President of the Russian Yachting Federation (VFPS), Olympic champion in Atlanta and Ekaterina Grishechkina, Director of exhibition Moscow Boat Show also spoke at the ceremony.

The high-ranking guests noted dynamic development of the branch which well reasoned the intensive growth of the exposition and appearance of rather unique “gems”.

A number of business meetings and negotiations were held within the frames of the project: the exhibition was visited by a large delegation of Greek businessmen for the purpose of establishment of mutually beneficial cooperation with the Russian colleagues.

Russian Yachting Federation (VFPS) celebrated its 100 anniversary within the frames of Moscow Boat Show and arranged an exposition of future sailing sport museum (rare awards, gifts, articles from private collections, pictures and etc.) which had been collected since 1912.

Due to carefully chosen running dates the show was visited by more than 26 000 people. The majority of the visitors were of targeted audience – vessel owners and specialists of the branch.

The work at the next edition of the show is under way! The show will be held in March 2013. The overall exhibit space will comprise 40 000 sq m. The exhibition will impress with exclusive exhibits and the latest technological achievements.

Moscow Boat Show was not only an entertaining but at the same time a business promotional event. Participation in the trade fair was a unique opportunity to present a company and products to a distinctly selected targeted audience of industry specialists. They were well prepared to discuss business in the Russian market and even to close a deal on-site.

The show helped representatives of yachting business to get acquainted with their Russian colleagues and gradually improved national yachting market to a new level. It is obvious that for 5 years of its running the project has turned to a status event of the international exhibitions calendar.
