The City of Milaan

With 1.5 million inhabitants, Milan is the second largest city in Italy. It is the capital city of the Lombardy region and an haute couture powerhouse: Giorgio Armani, Versace, Valentino all have boutiques in Milan, the fashion capital of Europe. The city is paradise for shoppers but culture lovers also get their fair share: museums, galleries and imposing buildings make Milan the ideal city trip destinations.

The Duoma with its forest of turrets and pinnacle is Milan’s eye catcher. Be sure to visit not only its interior but go also the rooftop terrace for sweeping views of the city. Other important attractions are Castello Sforzesco, La Scala, Milan’s famous opera building which can be visited on a guided tour if you are not an opera fan, the San Siro stadium, home of AC and Inter Milaan and Leonardo da Vinci’s ‘Last Supper’. Museum fans head straight for Pinacoteca di Brera, the Triennale Design Museum, theMuseo della Scienza, the Science Museum. The trendy neighbourhoods of Brea and de Navigli are famous for good food and dining al fresco.

One city, a thousand faces

The perfect milanese experience.

Milan is a city of a thousand facets: a true kaleidoscope of history, culture, fashion and avant-garde. Every corner tells a story, every stone brings with it centuries of traditions and innovations. Walking through its streets, you can hear the echo of the great Renaissance masters , while the modernity of the futuristic architecture whispers the promises of an ever-evolving future .

It is the city where Leonardo da Vinci left his mark with the unforgettable Last Supper , kept in the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie. But it is also the place where contemporary design takes shape, from the unmistakable lines of Piazza Gae Aulenti to the imposing structures of the Vertical Forest .

With your Milan Pass Light at hand, enjoy the art masterpieces among the corridors of the Pinacoteca di Brera , where timeless masterpieces dialogue with the curious minds of thousands of visitors. Stroll through the alleys of the Brera district, the bohemian heart of Milan, and let yourself be fascinated by the small art ateliers and artisan boutiques.

But Milan is not only art and history. It is also the capital of fashion: the shopping streets , such as Corso Vittorio Emanuele II and the so-called Fashion Quadrilatero, are a true paradise for style enthusiasts.

Conclude your tour in style, with a tour of the Duomo terraces at sunset ! From there, with the city stretching out at your feet, you will realize the true essence of Milan: a perfect fusion of past, present and future, always ready to surprise and fascinate.

With Milan Pass Light every Milanese experience becomes an unforgettable journey into the lively heart of Italy.

Milan Transport Tickets and Travel Cards

Milan Transport Tickets and Travel Cards

One-way tickets, 24 or 72-hour passes, weekly travel cards... discover all the types of ticket and transport cards available in Milan .

All the tickets and travel cards are valid for all of Milan’s means of transport: urban buses , trams , Milan Metro and urban trains.

You can purchase the transport tickets in the various metro stations, in the off-licenses and in any of Milan’s parking meters. From 2020 you'll have to load tickets onto an electronic card, RicaricaMi, of personal use.

Most useful tickets for tourists

Single ticket.

A single ticket covers areas Mi1, Mi2, and Mi3 and is  valid for 90 minutes since it is first punched into the validating machine. You can change metro lines during this time, but you cannot leave the metro station and then come back and use the same ticket . The price of a single urban ticket costs € 2 ( US$ 2.10).

24-hour travel card

The one-day travel card is valid for 24 hours since it's first punched into a validating machine. This means that if you validate your travel pass at 1:30 pm you can use the transport until 1:30 pm the next day. It covers areas Mi1, Mi2, and Mi3 and costs  € 7 ( US$ 7.40) .

72-hour travel card

The three-day travel card permits unlimited travel and is valid for 72   hours since it's first validated, costing € 12 ( US$ 12.80).

Ticket for your luggage

You'll sometimes have to buy a separate ticket for your luggage, depending on its size, and note that if you have more than one suitcase, you might not be allowed to get on the metro, tram, or bus.

The suitcases which can be carried onboard are very similar to the dimensions of the ones allowed on an airplane. The small ones (50 centimeters) are allowed on for free and the larger ones (50 x 90 centimeters) must have their own Luggage ticket. Suitcases over 90 cm are not allowed on Milan’s public transport, so you might want to think about taking another means of transport because you could be fined if your luggage is too large.

Other tickets and travel cards

10 standard tickets.

The price of 10 standard tickets is € 18 ( US$ 19.10), which saves you a little money compared to if you were to purchase 10 separate single tickets. This ticket can only be used by one person.

Weekly 2x6 ticket

This travel card is not very useful for visitors. It allows you to travel twice a day for 6 days during the same week for € 8.40 ( US$ 8.90).

Evening ticket

This ticket gives you unlimited access from 8 pm until the end of the service . The price of the ticket costs € 3 ( US$ 3.20).

Special tickets for the Fiera Milano (Rho Fiera)

A ticket to the Fiera Milano on Milan Metro’s line 1 costs € 2.55 ( US$ 2.70) per journey. This ticket will allow you to change lines and take other means of transport for 105 minutes after first validating it.

Travel Cards

As well as the already mentioned tickets, Milan’s public transport system also has weekly, monthly, and annual travel cards. These cards are not so useful for tourists unless you're planning on staying in Milan for over a week, as the card itself costs € 10 ( US$ 10.60).

It’s back by popular demand — Delta and American Express unveiled the next iteration of the limited-edition Boeing 747 Delta SkyMiles Reserve Card on the heels of the overwhelming response from Card Members when first launched in 2022 .

The new limited-edition cards are cloud-white in color and made from two Delta Boeing 747 aircraft 1 that were retired after more than 27 years of service and feature each plane’s history, including their first and last flights, tail number and number of miles flown.

The new limited-edition Delta SkyMiles Reserve Cards are cloud-white in color and made from two Delta Boeing 747 aircrafts that were retired after more than 27 years of service and feature each plane’s history, including their first and last flights, tail number and number of miles flown.

The card is available exclusively for new and existing Delta SkyMiles Reserve and Reserve Business Card Members from April 25 through June 5, 2024, while supplies last. The new design comes after recent enhancements made to the Delta SkyMiles American Express Cards to improve the travel experience and deliver everyday value to Members, both in the air and on the ground.

“At Delta, innovation and experience are at the core of everything we do,” said Prashant Sharma, V.P. of Loyalty at Delta Air Lines. “Each card carries the legacy of countless journeys and embodies the spirit of exploration that drives our customers and all of us at Delta. When combined with the recently upgraded benefits, these cards provide a nod to our storied past and symbolize the elevated experiences our customers can expect in their future travels.”

In 2022, Delta and American Express launched the first iteration of the limited-edition Boeing Delta 747 Card design, one of the most iconic airplanes in aviation history. The new design is made with 33% metal from a retired Delta Boeing 747 plane and has a white glossy finish, which is inspired by clouds.

American Express Reserve Card

“We’re bringing back one of our most popular Card designs ever with a new look honoring the ‘Queen of the Skies,’” said Jon Gantman, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cobrand Product Management at American Express. “Given the strong response from customers with our first Card design, we wanted to find another exciting opportunity for aviation enthusiasts and Card Members to have a piece of aviation history in their wallets.”

The Delta SkyMiles Reserve and Reserve Business American Express Cards offer premium travel benefits for Delta loyalists, including an enhanced Companion Certificate each year after renewal 2 , an MQD Headstart that helps you get closer to Status, miles accelerators, access to exclusive reservations through Global Dining Access by Resy 3 , and more.

Create and add an email signature in Outlook

In Outlook, you can create one or more personalized signatures for your email messages. Your signature can include text, links, pictures, and images (such as your handwritten signature or a logo).

Note:  If the steps under this New Outlook tab don't work, you may not be using new Outlook for Windows yet. Select Classic Outlook  and follow those steps instead.

Create and add an email signature

On the View tab, select   View Settings .

Select Accounts > Signatures .

Select    New signature , then give it a distinct name.

In the editing box below the new name, type your signature, then format it with the font, color, and styles to get the appearance you want.

Select Save when you're done.

With your new signature selected from the list above the editing box, go to  Select default signatures and choose whether to apply the signature to new messages and to replies and forwards.

Select Save again.

Note:  If you have a Microsoft account, and you use Outlook and Outlook on the web or Outlook on the web for business, you need to create a signature in both products.

Create your signature and choose when Outlook adds a signature to your messages

If you want to watch how it's done, you can go directly to  the video below .

Open a new email message.

Select Signature from the Message menu.

Under Select signature to edit , choose New , and in the New Signature dialog box, type a name for the signature.

Under Edit signature , compose your signature. You can change fonts, font colors, and sizes, as well as text alignment. If you want to create a more robust signature with bullets, tables, or borders, use Word to create and format your signature text, then copy and paste it into the Edit signature box. You can also use a pre-designed template  to create your signature. Download the templates in Word, customize with your personal information, and then copy and paste into the Edit signature box.

Type a new signature to use in your email

You can add links and images to your email signature, change fonts and colors, and justify the text using the mini formatting bar under Edit signature .

You can also add social media icons and links in your signature or customize one of our pre-designed temlates. For more information, see Create a signature from a template .

To add images to your signature, see Add a logo or image to your signature .

Under Choose default signature , set the following options.

In the E-mail account drop-down box, choose an email account to associate with the signature. You can have different signatures for each email account.

You can have a signature automatically added to all new messages. Go to in the New messages drop-down box and select one of your signatures. If you don't want to automatically add a signature to new messages, choose (none). This option does not add a signature to any messages you reply to or forward.

You can select to have your signature automatically appear in reply and forward messages. In the  Replies/forwards drop-down, select one of your signatures. Otherwise, accept the default option of (none).

Choose OK to save your new signature and return to your message. Outlook doesn't add your new signature to the message you opened in Step 1, even if you chose to apply the signature to all new messages. You'll have to add the signature manually to this one message. All future messages will have the signature added automatically. To add the signature manually, select Signature from the Message menu and then pick the signature you just created.

Add a logo or image to your signature

If you have a company logo or an image to add to your signature, use the following steps.

Open a new message and then select Signature > Signatures .

In the Select signature to edit box, choose the signature you want to add a logo or image to.

Insert an image from your device icon

To resize your image, right-click the image, then choose Picture . Select the Size tab and use the options to resize your image. To keep the image proportions, make sure to keep the Lock aspect ratio checkbox checked.

When you're done, select OK , then select OK again to save the changes to your signature.

Insert a signature manually

If you don't choose to insert a signature for all new messages or replies and forwards, you can still insert a signature manually.

In your email message, on the Message tab, select Signature .

Choose your signature from the fly-out menu that appears. If you have more than one signature, you can select any of the signatures you've created.

Hong Kong transgender activist gets ID card reflecting gender change after yearslong legal battle

Activist Henry Tse, who won an appeal to change the gender on his ID card, poses with a mock ID card outside the immigration tower after receiving the new document in Hong Kong, Monday, April. 29, 2024.

HONG KONG — A  Hong Kong  transgender activist on Monday received a new ID card reflecting his gender change, after a yearslong legal battle to change the document, and he vowed to continue working for equality for the LGBTQ community.

Henry Tse won his appeal over the government’s refusal to change the gender on his ID card in February 2023. Previously,  Tse was not able to make the change  because he did not undergo full gender-affirmation surgery.

Last year, the city’s top court said the government’s policy was unconstitutional in a  landmark ruling , arguing it imposed an unacceptably harsh burden. The judgment prompted an easing of rules earlier this month.

Tse’s victory is seen as an important step forward for the city’s LGBTQ community, many of whose transgender members consider the operation unnecessary and risky.

After obtaining his new ID card, Tse told reporters that life has not been easy since he lodged a judicial review in 2017. In addition to the legal challenges, he has also faced obstacles from the government and attacks from others.

“What is normal for many people has finally become normal for us,” Tse said.

Public sentiment in Hong Kong has become increasingly welcoming to the LGBTQ community, but many still face challenges in daily life.

Tse said bank staff told him he did not match his ID card and asked him to resubmit documents. He also could not change the gender on his travel permit to mainland  China , which caused him a delay when crossing the border. Immigration officials searched their computer for 15 minutes, he said, before finally letting him enter.

In April, the Hong Kong government revised its policy to allow people who have not completed full gender-affirmation surgery to change their genders on ID cards as long as they fulfill certain conditions. The conditions include the removal of breasts for transgender men, the removal of the penis and testes for transgender women, and having undergone continuous hormonal treatment for at least two years before applying.

Applicants also have to continue their hormonal treatment and submit blood test reports for random checks upon the government’s request.

Tse, after receiving his new ID card, said he would start changing his other documents, including his passport and bank details. The activist, who was previously active in sports, said he might sign up for a gym membership too.

“It’s a return to normal life,” he said.
