Killswitch engage, as daylight dies, the end of heartache, alive or just breathing, about killswitch engage.

Killswitch Engage first shook the structure of heavy music upon climbing out of snowy industrialized Western Massachusetts in 2000. A musical outlier, the band pioneered a union of thrashed-out European guitar pyrotechnics, East Coast hardcore spirit, on-stage hijinks, and enlightened lyricism that set the pace for what the turn-of-the-century deemed heavy. 2002's Alive Or Just Breathing became avowed as a definitive album, being named among "The Top 100 Greatest Metal Albums of the Decade" by Decibel and celebrated by everyone from Metal Hammer to Revolver . Not only did they bust open the floodgates for dozens to follow, but they also garnered two GRAMMY® Award nominations in the category of " Best Metal Performance " in 2005 and 2014, respectively, and gold certifications for The End of Heartache [2004] and As Daylight Dies [2006]. The group landed three consecutive Top 10 debuts on the Billboard Top 200 with Killswitch Engage [2009], Disarm The Descent [2013], and their career high best bow at #6 with Incarnate [2016]. The latter two releases would also both capture #1 on the Top Rock Albums and Top Hard Rock Albums charts. Their total streams have exceeded half-a-billion to date. Along the way, the boys have shared stages with some of the biggest acts in the world and have sold out countless headline gigs in six continents across the globe.

2019 represents another turning point. The quintet—Adam Dutkiewicz [lead guitar], Joel Stroetzel [rhythm guitar], Mike D'Antonio [bass], Justin Foley [drums], and Jesse Leach [vocals]—sharpen every side of this signature sound on their eighth full-length and first for Metal Blade, Atonement . The vision they shared two decades ago crystallizes like never before as evidenced by the first single " Unleashed ."

Killswitch Engage is an American metalcore band noted for their abrasive, hard-hitting sound. They have also been recognized for taking pop constructs and re-working them into their own nihilistic style.

The band formed in Westfield, Massachusetts, US in 1999 and was birthed out of the dissolution of the two Boston heavy bands, Overcast and Aftershock. The idea of Killswitch Engage was sparked by a jam session shared between Overcast bassist Mike D’Antonio and Aftershock guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz. The second guitarist of Aftershock Joel Stroetzel was later invited to join the group. Stroetzel a guitarist noted for his technical and inventive style was a former student of Berklee College of Music and is influenced by the likes of virtuosic metal guitarists such as Zakk Wylde. The lineup of Killswitch Engage was eventually completed with the addition of former Nothing Stays Gold vocalist Jesse Leach. The band called themselves Killswitch Engage after an X-file episode written by influential cyberpunk author William Gibson.

Killswitch Engage landed their first gig opening up for the likeminded metal band In Flames. At this show they promoted their first release, a four track demo tape including the song “Soilborn”.The band released their debut album one year later on 4 July 2000 through l Ferret Music. Though this album was not a commercial smash it heated interest in the band and garnered the attention of Roadrunner Records. The group would later enter in a contract with the label.

The group’s next album “Alive or Just Breathing” gained the band a good bit of exposure and placed them at No. 37 on the Top Heatseekers chart. In the early 2000s the band experienced a hefty amount of fluctuation with their lineup. Pete Cortese from Overcast joined Killswitch Engage as their second guitarist, but left less than a year later. Still determined to be a band that featured two guitarist Dutkiewicz moved from drums to take up the position of second guitar. Aftershock drummer Tom Gomes was accepted into the band to fill the opening.

Perhaps the biggest change up for the band was vocalist Leach’s abrupt departure. Leach quit the band 3 days before the band was to play a show. After auditioning several vocalists (one being Philip Labonte of All That Remains) they decided on ex-Blood Has Been Shed vocalist Howard Jones. Justin Foley of Blood Has Been Shed also joined the Killswitch Engage lineup replacing drummer Gomes.

With this line up the band perhaps experienced the greatest success of their career. The group played MTV2 Headbangers Ball in 2003 and in 2004 released their third album “The End of Heartache” which climbed all the way to 21 on the Billboard 200 chart. Not only was this album a commercial hit it was also herald by the critics and was nominated for Best Metal Performance for the 47th Grammy Awards. The group continued their stride touring a few high profile festivals and releasing yet another commercially successful album “As Daylight Dies”. This album went to No. 32 on the Billboard 200.

The band released one more album with lead singer Jones, which would be the band’s second self-titled release. The band started a search for a new lead singer and recruited the groups initial frontman Jesse Leach. With the induction of Leach, the band went on to put out their sixth studio album, “Disarm the Descent”. The album did exceptionally well on the charts and with critics. It reached No. 7 on the Billboard 200 chart and No. 1 on the Top Hard Rock Chart and the Top Rock Albums Chart. Its leading single “In Due Time” was nominated at the 2014 Grammy Awards for “Best Metal Performance”.

Live reviews

I suppose, if you’re a genuine subscriber to the notion that all screaming metal vocalists sound the same, that it should at least mean you can swap your old singer for a new one and yet still be able to continue relatively seamlessly. That’s precisely what happened to Killswitch Engage, back in early 2012; when their frontman of nine years, Howard Jones, left the band for reasons that are still to be disclosed, they were simply able to bring their original vocalist, Jesse Leach, back into the fold; he’d left the band back in 2002, after bouts of depression and problems with his voice - exacerbated by the uncontrollable nature of his screaming - had left him struggling to keep up with the relentless pace of touring. Not too much has changed since Leach’s return, really, with Killswitch continuing to include a slew of Jones’ material in their sets; with some of their biggest hits featuring him, including ‘My Curse’ and a cover of Dio’s ‘Holy Diver’, they didn’t really have much choice. Like Jones, Leach is an energetic performer, an intimidating physical presence and an incendiary screamer, although there’s no question that he lacks that deep, operatic quality that helped Jones bring a touch of real drama to proceedings. Earlier this year, Killswitch completed a rapturously received co-headline tour of the UK with Trivium; knowing their prodigious work rate, though, they’ll likely be back before long.

Often cited as some of the founders of metalcore, the electrifyingly heavy Killswitch Engage have been rock festival headliner staples since their formation in the late 90s. The Gold-record selling band originally evolved from the breakups of metal bands Overcast and Aftershock, with Overcast's former bassist Mike D'Antonio teaming up with Aftershock's guitarists Adam Dutkiewicz and Joel Stroetzel.

After a number of line-up changes, Killswitch Engage are still going strong after well over a decade, and the band recently released their sixth studio album, 'Disarm The Descent', to the delight of metal hardcore kids (and adults) the world over. This was, naturally, followed by a string of tour dates, and when I saw KSE in 2013 opening for Lamb Of God at the Fillmore Silver Spring, it was clear to me that they have lost none of their powerful, blastbeat-driven sound and originality.

In their live set, the brutally heavy sound of their guitar riffs and drums paired with pitch-perfect vocal screams and unexpectedly tender lyrics were found in classic songs like 'This Is Absolution', 'The Hell in Me', and the epic finale, 'My Curse'. The band's light show was also pretty incredible, combining a creative onstage presence with strobes and blinders to punish the moshpit-enthralled audience. If you want to experience a sweaty, fist-in-air heavy metal show at its best, go see KSE- you'll be in for a treat.

Now you may consider it bold to enter a stage to the theme tune from Rocky, however 'Eye Of The Tiger' seems pretty appropriate for American metal core outfit Killswitch Engage as they are well and truly in the zone when they perform live. They have been touring for over fifteen years now and have a surpassable ability with their instruments, every single member is of equal talent and they just sound so fantastic in a live setting.

Vocalist Adam Dutkiewicz also has a pretty individual vocal which is able to cut through the noise, cheers and instrumentals of the huge venue. He commands attention and with the more passion he throws into his performance, the louder the baiting crowds grow. They mosh throughout and the pits grow larger in size with the vicious riffs of 'Fixation on the Darkness' before they climax for 'In Due Time'. The group is clearly impressed with the energy of their crowd and thank them for being particularly rambunctious tonight. A final screeching rendition of 'My Curse' closes an expectedly mad show.

I was excited and hesitant to finally see KSE. Fortunate to see them in a small venue... packed stage to doors, but alas without Howard Jones. I don't go back to their beginnings; jumped on board with The End Of Heartache, HJ was the glue if you will. Well give it to Jesse Leash. He is dynamic, aggressive... an integral part of the current force called KSE! This band is tight, solid and professional. A show not to be missed if this genre is of your liking. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of their performance, and the crowd must have too as the place was jumping. Looking forward to their new release....

The both acts before KSE were Tenside and Prevocation and they were really good and then came Killswitch Engage! Wow what a blast! They stepped on stage and started playing as their lives belong to this show. They have shown the crowd their energy and feelings about every single song they've played. We had a good mix on their set list of old and new stuff and as already said it was absolutely amazing! Less talking, more songs to hear. First time for me that I've seen them live (I mean I seen them 2008 at the wacken open air but I was drunk as hell) and I am 100% sure that it was not the last time!

Killswitch Engage played with Rise Against this show. Rise Against was the headliner though. With all due respect, Rise Against is a talent band with a great sound... but after that Killswitch mosh pit.. R.A.'s set just bored the f*** out of me! Killswitch should've been headlining this show! They are so much more badass and better sounding! I get it though.. Rise Against is more radio friendly so they probably have a bigger following. Much love and respect to both bands. For Killswitch specifically: COME BACK TO SAN DIEGO SOLO NEXT TIME AND TEAR THIS MOTHERF****R UP!

I was initially hesitant to see Killswitch when I found out Howard had left (best thing for him, though, considering his health). How wrong was I?!! Bringing back their original singer, Jesse Leach, was the best move they could've made. He's so passionate about the music, jumping up to make his fist pumps more aggressive, you can't help but rock out. I'll see them again every chance I get and buy all of their cd's! If you haven't seen them yet, YOU NEED TO GO!! No lie!

The show was freaking awesome! It was completely insane, there was nothing be just pushing and shoveing and just being drenched in other people's sweat and non stop crowd surfing. I expected nothing less from a concert like this. I do not recommend this concert for frail and fragile people as they can get seriously injured but all in all the crowd was nuts. Killswitch was⚡⚡⚡⚡

Didn't see Toothgrinder. I had never heard of 36 Crazyfists but I really liked them. I downloaded their newest album after their set. Highly recommended. Memphis May Fire was a snooze. Killswitch always does a good show. There were some technical difficulties and the singer was deathly ill. He probably should have been in bed but he banged out an impressive set.

It was amazing. I work at the house of Blues and when we found out the show got cancelled we immediately search for another venue and warehouse live was like "YES!" only 500 showed up vs. 1700 we had ticket sales for but, the show was so much more intimate and they even played extra songs for us off their first album. I left satisfied, happy, and in pain lol

The footage is culled from the band’s August 2021 livestream event that took place at The Palladium in Worcester, Massachusetts – the site of many iconic and memorable KsE shows through the years. It was directed by David Brodsky and Allison Woest for MyGoodEye.

“ This is one of my favorite songs off the album so I’m glad it is getting some attention and a visual component, ” says Leach. “ It’s a song about facing down the odds and finding confidence to overcome and conquer a situation. I originally wrote it as a battle cry song with my warrior Highland Scottish, Norwegian, and Swedish ancestors in mind. However, it can be about friendship, love, or even the camaraderie of being in a band traveling the world. The title says it all – ‘Us Against The World!’ “

About Death Ray Vision: Commencing writing in late 2018 following a tour with Killswitch Engage — who share bassist Mike D’Antonio with DRV — the band had a lot of creative momentum still burning following that year’s Negative Mental Attitude and kept it rolling.  The results will demonstrate that they are playing at the top of their game.  “We’re a lot more cohesive as a band after playing together for so many years, and we’ve gotten better at songwriting and collaborating to bring out the best in everyone’s ideas,” says guitarist Pete Cortese. A further new dimension affecting the sound is the addition of vocalist Bennett to the band’s ranks, who the existing members knew would be the perfect fit from his time with notable acts Wrecking Crew, Panzerbastard (both of whom shared the stage with Cortese and D’Antonio’s other band Overcast), and Ramallah. “Keith brings a whole lot of piss and vinegar, with a side of street cred. He brought a new sense of enthusiasm and excitement and got us even more fired up to make a great record,” says Cortese. Guitarist Chris Rosati adds, “Creatively speaking, Keith is a force of nature. His ability to get inside a new song and quickly come up with vocals and lyrics is really something to witness.”  Lyrically,  No Mercy From Electric Eyes is a more politically charged record than their previous releases – “it’s more pissed off, and anyone paying attention to the state of the world can understand why,” says Cortese – but it’s also deeply personal for Bennett. “Every word I’m singing is from the heart,” says the vocalist. “I should have been dead a few years ago, I’m here for a reason. These lyrics are a direct line to how I feel, how I live, what I see.” When it came to tracking, drummer Colin Conway laid down his parts at Mad Oak studio with long time associate Benny Grotto, while everything else was recorded, engineered, and produced by Rosati at his home studio, Mass Metal Studios. The record is wrapped up with a title drawn from the lyrics of one of the tracks — Cortese pointing out that it makes perfect sense given their band name – and vivid artwork courtesy of D’Antonio, which, according to the bassist, stems from the idea “of ‘being under the thumb of an ethereal overlord’. The fear of knowing the ‘master’ is watching your every move, from a short distance away. In this world, only obedience is accepted and absolutely no mercy is given to those who fail.” Having poured so much of their hearts and souls into No Mercy From Electric Eyes , the band hope to play the songs live as much as possible, and have aspirations of touring outside of the US for the first time, but at the end of the day, they are proud of what they have achieved and believe they are worth giving a damn about, because they give a damn about everything they do. “We made a great record that doesn’t sound like many contemporary metal bands,” says Cortese. “It’s heavy as fuck without having to rely on drop Z tuning, and it’s a great balance of aggressive and melodic without sounding contrived.”

Prepare for a night of sonic sorcery and hellacious horror as two of the most creative and otherworldly forces in modern metal, ICE NINE KILLS and IN THIS MOMENT , announce the "Kiss Of Death" U.S. tour. AUGUSTA, Ga. – Third-round tee times have been released for the Masters. Max Homa and Bryson DeChambeau will play in Saturday’s final group at 2:45 p.m. ET.

Scottie Scheffler, who’s tied for the lead with Homa and DeChambeau, will tee off 10 minutes earlier alongside Nicolai Højgaard, the Dane who was the youngest player in last year’s Ryder Cup and closed 2023 by winning the DP World Tour Championship. Scheffler is seeking his second Masters win in the last three years. He recently won his second consecutive PLAYERS Championship.

Cameron Davis, a member of the 2022 International Presidents Cup Team, will tee off alongside Collin Morikawa in the third-to-last group. They’ll be preceded by Ludvig Åberg and Matthieu Pavon, the Frenchman who won this year’s Farmers Insurance Open.

The five-time Masters champion Woods has set the record with his 24th consecutive made cut at Augusta National, and he now seeks a climb up the leaderboard for a chance to match Jack Nicklaus' record six green jackets come Sunday. Woods trails the lead by seven strokes into Saturday.
• Patrick Cantlay, Neal Shipley (a) (12:15 p.m.) Ohio State's Shipley has secured low amateur honors as the only of five amateurs in the field to make the cut. He'll play alongside world No. 7 Cantlay, who is still seeking his first major title. Cantlay is eight off the lead, with Shipley nine back.
• Akshay Bhatia, Shane Lowry (12:05 p.m.) Fresh off a victory at last week's Valero Texas Open that secured his first Masters berth, Bhatia kept the good times rolling with rounds of 72-75 to make the cut with three strokes to spare. He'll play alongside a popular Irishman in Lowry, also nine off the lead into the weekend.
• Sahith Theegala, Phil Mickelson (11:25 a.m.). Perhaps two of golf's most creative shotmakers and California natives, both enter the weekend at 4-over 146, trailing the lead by 10 strokes. Theegala finished ninth last year in his Masters debut; Mickelson is a three-time Masters champion.
• Joaquin Niemann, Min Woo Lee (11:05 a.m.). The effervescent Lee has quickly become one of the game's more colorful characters, and he carded 74-74 to make the cut despite a broken finger that he suffered in a gym accident less than two weeks ago. Lee and Niemann both trail the lead by 10 into Saturday.
• Rory McIlroy, Camilo Villegas (10:55 a.m.). Many eyes will be on McIlroy early Saturday, which he'll begin 10 strokes back, as he seeks to make a heroic run toward his first green jacket, which would complete the career Grand Slam. He'll play alongside a popular Colombian in Villegas, who won last fall's Butterfield Bermuda Championship to earn his first Masters berth since 2015.

Masters TV Ratings for Sunday’s Final Round Down 20% From 2023

Scottie Scheffler made history Sunday at the Masters in winning his second green jacket, but fewer watched the proceedings than a year ago.

According to Josh Carpenter of the Sports Business Journal , the final-round viewership for CBS on Sunday was 9.589 million, down 20 percent from 2023 when Jon Rahm won by four shots over Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson.

Part of the dip is due to the fact that last year's final round fell on Easter Sunday, which meant a bump of 21% in out-of-home viewership. This year's final round received only a 9% out-of-home increase.

Like Rahm, Scheffler also won by four shots, as his pursuers fell back with miscues before and around Amen Corner , making the final few holes relatively drama-free for the world No. 1, who won for the third time in his last three starts. 

Among those wins was a second consecutive triumph at the PGA Tour’s flagship event, the Players Championship. But that did not deliver ratings either, as the final round had the lowest rating for NBC in a decade .

That continued a trend for Tour ratings this year, as pro golf’s schism continues into a third year with two circuits: the PGA Tour and LIV Golf. 

“If you look at the TV ratings of the PGA Tour this year, they’re down 20 percent across the board. That’s a fifth. That’s big ... 20 percent’s a pretty jarring number,” Rory McIlroy said earlier this month at the Valero Texas Open.

ESPN reported its best rating in nine years for Thursday’s first round and that its Friday coverage was up 69% from 2023. Tiger Woods was playing during both of those broadcast windows.

Five of late reggae icon Bob Marley ‘s musical scions announced their first joint tour in nearly 20 years on Monday (April 15), an outing they’re calling The Marley Brothers: The Legacy Tour.

Teaming up for their first extended run of joint dates since 2007, brothers Ziggy, Stephen, Julian, Ky-Mani and Damian will celebrate their beloved father’s music and legacy on the outing that a release promised would feature both their individual hits and classic Bob Marley songs.

April 20 will mark an expansion of screenings of the biopic Bob Marley: One Love , while the 40th anniversary of the “Could You Be Loved” singer’s landmark 1984 greatest-hits compilation Legend will be celebrated next month; in addition, 2025 marks what would have been Marley’s 80th birthday.

Tickets for the tour will start with pre-sales kicking off Tuesday (April 16), including a Citi presale beginning at 10 a.m. local time through Thursday (April 18) at 10 p.m. local time here . A general on-sale will kick off Friday (April 19) at 10 a.m. local time with information available here .

Shakira surprises at Bizarrap’s set at Coachella, announces world tour: How to get tickets

Shakira made a guest appearance at Argentine producer Bizarrap's set at the Sahara tent Friday night, bringing her world-famous diss song to the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and announcing an upcoming world tour.

The crowd, already energized throughout the start of Bizarrap's DJ set, became fully rapturous when the Colombian star emerged to first perform "La Fuerte," a collaboration with the producer.

She followed it with her Vol. 53 of the Bzrp sessions, a scathing diss song aimed at her ex-husband Gerard Piqué, appearing about halfway through the hour-long set.

Shakira entered with the words "La Loba Se Viene" (Spanish for "the wolf is coming") sprawled across the large screen behind her. She later announced a world tour for her latest album, "Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran," calling her Coachella appearance the informal kickoff to the tour.

The official kickoff to the tour, on the other hand, will be in Palm Desert at Acrisure Arena.

Bizarrap, whose collaborations include a who’s who list of renowned Latino artists, played a litany of his popular BZRP sessions, including songs with Eladio Carrión, Milo J and Nicky Jam, during his set.

Shakira was the only guest appearance during the lengthy show, which featured plenty of cool visuals and impressive remixes by the Argentine producer.

Bizarrap didn't say much during his set, beyond imploring the crowd to keep dancing and to up the energy, but his stage presence was confident — particularly for a producer making his Coachella debut.

Though neither appeared on stage with him, Bizarrap also played his songs with Young Miko and Peso Pluma , both of whom also had their own Friday performances at the Empire Polo Club.

Persyaratan penerima Beasiswa KSE :

3. Beasiswa diberikan dalam bentuk tunjangan biaya hidup sebesar Rp.750.000,- (tujuh ratus lima puluh ribu rupiah) per bulan nya.

4. Beasiswa ini diberikan tanpa ikatan kedinasan atau apapun terhadap mahasiswa penerima maupun pihak Kampus.
