This list is for you if you need some garden inspiration or entertainment! These seven channels run the gamut from zone 3 growing in Canada to a donation garden in Kentucky to a cottage garden in Sweden. Each channel has a distinct style and loads of information to share.

You’ll notice that many of these flower gardeners are also flower farmers. Flower farmers have lots of experience growing cut flowers and, as such, have valuable information to pass on. And who knows, maybe some of you aspire also to become flower farmers!

1. tonya, with the flowers (formerly freshcutky).

Tonya, with the flowers is a cut flower channel located in Kentucky, USA. Tonya grows her cut flowers to donate to her local community. She’d initially planned to start with donating freshly grown vegetables but found that wasn’t an option. Fortunately, she found an organization to help disperse her cut flowers instead. On her channel, Tonya takes the viewer along to learn how to grow specific flowers, demonstrates growing tips, and shares tours of her backyard cut flower garden.

Watch this video to learn more about her donation garden and get tips if you’re interested in doing the same.

2. Root Design Company

Roots Design Company is run by two sisters, Rosita and LaRonda, based in Ohio, USA. They share their tips about planning a cut flower garden, arranging flowers in what they call “redneck couture” style, and delightful tours through their cut flower garden. The sisters are floral designers and grow much of their own inventory for their design work.

One of my favorite videos on this channel follows LaRonda making a gorgeous arrangement with phlox, sage, zinnias, dahlias, and celosia. The setting and music are very relaxing and make for an excellent follow-along video.

3. Shifting Roots

Kristen of Shifting Roots focuses on showing folks how to garden successfully in cold climates. She lives in zone 3 in Canada, so she knows plenty about working with a short growing season. Kristen has vegetables and flowers in her backyard and sells some of her cut flowers. She hosts DIY bouquet events, pop-ups, and provides some bridal bouquets.

Kristen also shares information about becoming a flower farmer, such as in the video below. She describes starting with minimum start-up costs and space in case you’re interested in leveling up your cut flower growing to begin selling some blooms.

4. Sara’s Homestead and Flower Farm

Sara’s Homestead and Flower Farm is in Sweden and chronicles the creation of a small flower garden at her roadside cottage. She transformed a bare sloping yard from a grassy hill to a swath of beautiful flowers that garner attention and compliments from passers-by. She also grows vegetables and composts on-site, sharing tips about all her systems.

Especially inspiring to me is the video below, in which Sara shows how she started her cottage garden from scratch. From digging up sod to enjoying the beautiful blooms in the following seasons, Sara is an excellent example of what you can do with some hard work.

Update for 2022: Sara recently bought her village’s plant nursery and flower farm. I can’t wait to follow the journey, which you can check out in this video: I Bought the Local Nursery and Flower Farm .

5. Garden Answer

Laura of Garden Answer (and hubby Aaron) has a hugely popular channel that covers their family plant nursery and property. She grows just about everything under the sun, from landscape plants to vegetables to cut flowers. She shares gardening tips and techniques, creates stunning flower arrangements, and even home improvement projects around the property.

Laura takes you along the cut the flowers needed for her gorgeous arrangements, then shows the process and final product along the way. Check out this video to see a midsummer arrangement from her gardens.

6. Northlawn Flower Farm

Danielle of Northlawn Flower Farm grows in zone 6b on a beautifully landscaped half-acre. She gives loads of advice about integrating cut flowers into landscaping, rather than having separate beds for cutting. She sells flowers at her roadside stand and to florists and, of course, brings flowers into the house in beautiful arrangements.

Her garden tours are particularly relaxing as she highlights the pollinators throughout her garden to the background of soothing music.

7. Flower Hill Farm

Nicole of Flower Hill Farm in upstate New York is one of the best cut flower growers on YouTube. She has a quirky sense of humor, is honest and transparent about her successes and failures, and is just fun to watch. As her name suggests, she is a flower farmer and sells via bouquet subscriptions and bouquet bars on her front porch.

In this video, 20 Farming Facts, you can see Nicole’s personality shine as she shares her flower-farming perspective with a good dose of humor.

Is Black-Eyed Susan The Same As Rudbeckia? (And Other Lookalikes)

When I started growing black-eyed Susan in my garden, I often saw it referred to by other names in my seed catalogs. The same happened in the index of a gardening book or photo captions: I was often redirected to look up Rudbeckia, brown-eyed Susan, or even cornflower. Don’t have room to grow? Find a spot of land (check with local churches, schools, and other community spaces) and carve out space for the neighborhood to grow food. Use the guidelines above to get permission to use the land for growing food. Some landlords would rather rent out a spot to veggie gardeners, rather than have to maintain a vacant lot themselves. Make connections and do the work, and a community garden may be in your future!

With all the recent rain, 2024 is shaping up to be a fabulous year for flowers, not just in the wild but also in private gardens around Southern California. Lucky for garden enviers, many of those gates will be opening wide this spring as part of the annual fundraising tradition known as garden tours.

They come in all shapes and sizes, from the Theodore Payne Foundation’s two-day opportunity to admire more than 40 native plant landscapes across Los Angeles to more intimate events that include just a few exquisite gardens, such as the Garden Conservancy’s Open Days tours in the San Fernando Valley and Pasadena.

These tours will fill weekends through May, so you’ll always find someplace to go, and the entry prices are usually modest — typically less than $40 per person, and sometimes even free, although in those cases, such as the annual open house at Prisk Elementary School’s Native Plant Garden , donations to these worthy causes are greatly appreciated.

Grab a friend, a water bottle and a hat, don good walking shoes and prepare to enjoy all the beauty that follows a good California downpour and the hard work of creative gardeners. If we’ve forgotten someone, please email [email protected] to see if it’s an event we can include.

April 6 Mediterranean Garden Society of Southern California Garden Tour of a private garden in Mandeville Canyon in Brentwood, 10 a.m. to noon. Designers Marilee Kuhlmann, Tom Rau and Johanna Woollcott will be on hand to discuss the 2-acre project, which includes water harvesting, fire prevention, fruit trees, a vegetable garden, native and water-wise plants and a succulent garden. Tickets are $35 ($25 for members). mediterraneangardensociety.org/branches-us-cal-south.html

April 7 and 14 The Prisk Native Plant Garden Open House features a free visit to the native plant garden usually closed to the public. From 1 to 4 p.m. both days at William F. Prisk Elementary School, 2375 Fanwood Ave. in Long Beach. The garden is behind the school, at East Los Arcos Street and Albury Avenue. facebook.com/prisknativegarden

April 13-14 The Theodore Payne Foundation Native Plant Garden Tour features 41 gardens around Los Angeles devoted to at least 50% native plants. Ticket holders get a map for self-guided tours to gardens on the Westside of L.A. on April 13 and the Eastside on April 14, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. One ticket gets you into all the gardens on both days and provides an opportunity to see gardens for larger spaces as well as residences, including Kuruvungna Village Springs, Casa Apocalyptica, Garden Butterfly, Washington Elementary Native Habitat Garden and the Gottlieb Native Garden. Tickets are $55 (free for children under 16), and people who purchased their tickets online will receive maps in the mail. Note, however, that online sales ended March 17. Starting March 26, tickets (with maps) can only be purchased in person at the foundation office in Sun ValleyTuesday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (The foundation is closed on Sundays and Mondays.) Only 500 tickets remained as of March 17. eventbrite.com

The Frank Lloyd Wright Garden Symposium and L.A. Garden Tours by the Garden Conservancy involves a symposium from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 13 examining how Wright and other early 20th century architects responded to Southern California’s landscape and climate, followed April 14 with guided tours of Wright’s Hollyhock House and Garden in East Hollywood from 10 a.m. to noon and a tour of the Rudolph Schindler House & garden in West Hollywood from 10 a.m. to noon or 2 to 4 p.m. Garden tours are $30 each and reserved only to people who attend the symposium on April 13. Tickets for the symposium at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre are $175 ($150 for members, $50 for students). gardenconservancy.org

April 14 The Creative Arts Group Art of the Garden Tour includes self-guided tours of five gardens in Pasadena and Sierra Madre from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $40, or $45 if purchased the day of the tour. The tour is the biggest annual fundraiser for the nonprofit group, which provides programs, exhibitions and classes in the arts for children and adults. Photography, pets and children under 12 are not permitted on the tours. The Creative Arts Group Gallery will be open at 108 N. Baldwin Ave. in Sierra Madre for people who want to purchase tickets in person and view work by more than 25 local artists. creativeartsgroup.org

Moscow Victory Park

Moscow Victory Park is located in the south of St. Petersburg on Moskovsky Prospekt . It was founded in 1945 to mark the Allied victory in World War II over Nazi Germany.

The Park, which spreads over 68 hectares, is home to more than 100 types of tree and bush, and includes elements of formal and landscape planning, being decorated with ponds, canals, avenues, and flower gardens. The main artery of the park is the Avenue of Heroes, which is lined by bronze statues of people twice awarded the titles Hero of the Soviet Union and Hero of Socialist Labor. A statue of Marshal Georgy Zhukov, who commanded the Leningrad Front in the fall of 1941, was unveiled for the 50 th anniversary of the victory over Germany.

The park is full of reminders of Leningrad's suffering during the war. In front of the park's main pavilion are two figures: "The Front", by Leonid Razumovsky, and "The Rear", by Nikolai Gorenyshev. In 1986, a cross was erected to the victims of the Second World War on the site of a brick factory in whose ovens the bodies of those who died in the Siege of Leningrad were burned.

Moscow Victory Park is located right next to Park Pobedy metro station

Rumours abounded for a years after the Park opened of strange things happening to people - many said they felt short of breath, or choked, or even fainted. Amid talk of the park having an "aura", an investigation was set up which discovered that the park was on the site of a brick factory whose ovens were used to burn the corpses of people who died during the Siege of Leningrad, as well as soldiers from the front. So many people died that many were roughly buried in unmarked graves in the factory's grounds. Leningraders swear that since a cross was erected on the sight of a mass grave, the ghosts of those who died and were not properly buried have ceased to haunt visitors to the park, and that the previous symptoms have disappeared.

Thompson & Morgan strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3
